Officer Blair prowled around the corridors of Elise's Hospital. "The third hospital this week..." He had an angry look on his face. His main underling, Martin, knew better then to approach him when the boss was in one of those moods. Instead, he checked his phone a safe twenty yards away. The Titans should be sending one of their patrols any second now. Another reason to anger Blair. He didn't like superheroes, not one bit. Looking away from his phone to check on his boss, Martin noticed that he was gone. "Oh no..." Panic flashed on the junior officer's face as he went into a run, searching for his boss. It wasn't very hard to find him.
"I tell you, our patients have no further information to give the police." One of the nurses was blocking the way to a recovery warden with arms outstretched into a T formation. Blair, still fuming, just kept pressing him with his loud, pushy voice. "But they are the only ones who have caught a glimpse of the perpetrator. Maybe they forgot to mention something." He pressed his fist against the wall, making his knuckles crack in the process. "Just let me question them now." Before the male nurse could respond, Martin came to the rescue. He rushed forward, rested his left hand on the older man's shoulder and said, "Boss, I found something interesting in the cold chamber, where most of the blood was stored before getting stolen." Blair turned around, eyes crossing with Martin's. "Didn't we already check that?" Martin tried to keep his expression neutral. He didn't enjoy lying. "We missed a trail of blood. Maybe the culprit got hurt." A blood sample would be amazing. They hadn't found any usable fingerprints in the cold room.
Blair didn't seem to buy it. He scrutinized Martin, who tried his best to keep a straight face. But then the director of the warden, a young doctor who could compete with Blair pound by pound, appeared in the corridor. Blair immediately turned his attention to her, and Martin could see the strain on his face as the two bosses went into a staring contest. The older man finally admitted defeat, "I guess it's worth a shot." The junior police officer let go of a relieved sigh. He'd have to thank the woman as he left the hospital. It was sometimes hard to keep his boss in check. He isn't very popular, but deep down he cares about this city and just doesn't want to see people physically hurt. The duo moved away from the warden, taking the long way to the cold room in order to avoid the director.
