Terra looked left and right as she progressed through the industrial district. Her former residence in the sewers had been destroyed in the collapse Poison Ivy had caused yesterday, so she was in need of a new place to stay. Most of the better places within the sewer had been taken up at this point, so she had turned her search towards the abandoned warehouses on the docks. Even if she had to share with someone, it didn't exactly matter to her. She just needed a place secure from the chilling wind. The temperature had already began to plummet so far tonight and within a couple minutes, she'd lose the light of the sun as well.
So far, her luck had been bust. All the warehouses she'd gotten to were either welded shut and condemned or they had occupants already. She was about to give up and just settle into an alleyway when she found a warehouse that had an enormous padlock instead of a welding keeping it shut. The sight made Terra smile. Metal padlocks were nothing to her. She dashed up to the locking mechanism and placed her hands on it. Her hands began to glow a yellow hue and the minerals within the metal began to shift. She strained a bit trying to get the latch to undo itself, and let out a huge sigh as the padlock slid undone. She gave a wicked smile as she pushed the door aside.
Inside, she found an almost entirely empty warehouse. Jackpot! She quickly shut the door behind her and used her powers to reset the lock. She looked about at what the place had to offer. She quickly locked eyes on a large green tarp and pulled it from off the machinery it had been covering, letting up a huge dust cloud. Terra coughed a couple times before forming a makeshift bed out of the tarp. She was about to settle into sleep, when she noticed something glint in the corner of the building. She nervously approached the site and realized a human form was standing there.
"H-Hello? I'm sorry to have intruded in here, I didn't know this place was taken," she spoke nervously to the figure. It didn't respond "Hello?" she repeated, getting closer. She suddenly caught a glimpse of their face, or rather, their mask and gasped in shock, recognizing it as the face of Slade, the one who had died when her former self stopped the volcano. Her shock diminished a bit when she realized he had a top hat on for some reason. "Evil dude?" she questioned a bit confused, reaching out to touch him. Finally though, he moved and boy did he move. Slade's entire form went hurtling into the air across the warehouse.
"TALLY HOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"
Terra watched in half-amazement, half-confusion as the enigmatic man sprung into the light revealing he not only had a top hat, but a mustache embossed onto his mask. He turned to her and began to stroke the raised part of his mask mustached as he spoke to her finally. "Oh dear, it appears my hidey-hole has been compromised! Crumbled biscuits! I shall have redelegate a new privy immediately! Tut tut!" he spoke in the cheesiest british accent Terra had ever heard. Her mouth was simply agape seeing this all.
"So... you're Slade? You're the mysterious missing man in the Jump City Catastrophe?" Terra asked absolutely confused
"I'm afraid not my dear, I prefer the moniker Sir Slade, for it is more gentlemenly suiting," he countered, proceeding to laugh with his hands on his hips boisterously.
"Well this... entirely disappointing. I... suppose I'll just go to bed now," she sighed, moving towards her makeshift bed, only for Sir Slade to suddenly explode in a manner that appeared that he'd been fired upon. The sudden noise, startled Terra, and she just barely managed to catch the mask that had been on his face. Looking at the remains, she realized Sir Slade had been mechanical. A robotic duplicate of Slade... only british. Absolutely confused further, Terra looked up towards the source that had destroyed her former living companion and was stricken with fear.
