A green gorilla carried in sixteen pizza boxes setting them down on the coffee table. Reverting back to his human form, he wiped the sweat from his brow as he signed in relief. Home. He was finally home. It had been months since he had occupied this space. And everything seemed like it was the day he left. There was something comforting about that.
Taking off a glove, green fingertips ran along the fabric on the back of the couch. He leaned down, rubbing his cheek along the fabric. "Oh, couch. I missed you so much. I promise to never leave for that long again. Did you miss me as much as I missed you? Shhh. Just let the moment sink in." With that, he moved over to the stereo. Green fingertips moved along it's surface as it accidentally kicked on, this song playing. Instead of turning the stereo off, he restarted the track, turning it up.
As the electronic beats pulsed through the tower, he morphed into a bear. Standing on his hind legs, he began to sway his arms and body to the beat of the song. Before long, there was a 12' green bear dancing in the living room. However, this form didn't give him much room for movement. So, he shifted into a velociraptor. And, no, not like in Jurassic Park. A real life velociraptor, that was about the size between a chicken and a turkey.
The small, green, feathered lizard continued to dance, having more room to jump around and make a general fool of himself. But, he didn't care. He was home. He wanted to have fun. What was life without a little fun now and then?
The Common Room often smelled of pizza. So, when he first walked through the main doors at the back of the room nearest the kitchen Robin wasn't terribly surprised. Who had ordered it wasn't much of an issue. There was always plenty to share. His stomach made a burbling noise in protest. He hadn't found time to eat between his patrol and training schedule. He'd at least found time to shower, though, and now his dark hair hung wet down to his collar.
Robin made a beeline for the kitchen, specifically, towards the fridge. There were no pizza boxes that he could see, but now he realized that the noise he heard wasn't simply his own heartbeat pulsing in his skull after a long workout. Someone was playing music. Someone was playing Beast Boy's music. The Boy Wonder pulled his head out of the refrigerator, a bottle of water in his hand, and turned to look towards the stereo. Something green whipped it's tail back and forth, and there was only one thing in this tower that did that.
He didn't take the traditional route over to the seating area. Instead, water bottle in hand, he vaulted over the couch and plopped down in his usual spot with a hint of a smile on his face. “Hey Beast Boy!” he greeted his now-dino friend. “Good to see you again.”
Raven rarely slept in, even after a long and tedious nighttime patrol. The times that she did, however, she preferred to stay asleep until she herself choose otherwise. The thumping bass of the stereo from the Common Room didn't exactly make her list of acceptable alarm clock substitutes.
The pillow clamped over her head didn't seem to help either.
About thirty seconds after the bass began, Raven became sure that sleep was a lost cause and she growled her disgust at this as she sat up and simultaneously ran a hand through her hair to keep it tame. Crawling from her bed and snatching her cloak on the way, she made her way from the room, slightly less than five minutes after waking. Meditation wasn't even an option this morning afternoon, with that thumping noise practically shaking the building's foundations so many stories below. So she made her way into the Common Room/Kitchen for some tea instead.
She barely made it through the doorway.
The sight of her very green friend dancing in dino-form did a strange thing to Raven. Some could attribute it to muscle spasms, some might actually believe that she was happy to see him. But upon noticing him swaying to the beat like the best of 'em, Raven's lips moved up in a tiny semblance of a smile. He usually annoyed the crap out of her, but darn it, she'd really missed him....
"What Robin said," the empath greeted, feigning indifference as she moved the rest of the way into the room. The combined good moods of the two boys worked together with Raven's own happiness at seeing Beast Boy and her words betrayed the sentiment, even if they would sound harsh to any other Titan. The other four core members knew her and she knew BB would pick up on her masked delight, even if he was a little oblivious at times.
Rather than go straight for her tea, Raven moved closer to the couch first, reaching out with a touch of telekinesis to move a throw pillow from the far end. An orange sock rose from its couchy hiding place between the cushions, surrounded by a slight bit of energy as Raven dangled it in mid-air. She might've been holding the sock hostage until Beast Boy accepted his laundry duties as a responsible member of the team, but BB didn't need to know that. For now, she'd be the smelly sock's rescuer, because heaven knew there'd be plenty of time to rail BB about his chore duties after he got a good and well-deserved welcome back to the Tower.
In his dinosaur form, he smelled Robin long before the Boy Wonder came into the common room. As the Titan's leader plopped down on the couch, Beast Boy shifted back into his human form. "Robin! You're looking good, bro. Still working out, I see." he said, delivering a righteous high five. "Russian Dude bought all these pizzas so we could have a bit of a party for my return. He said he was heading to some jewelry auction or something."
It was then that he remembered his predicament and nervously chuckled as he rubbed the back of his head. "Oh, yeah. Before I forget, could I get another communicator from you? Mine got shattered in India. It's a long, crazy story." But, his tone conveyed that he was fully up for sharing the story of his dynamic solo mission. But, he also wanted to hear if anything of interest happened in Jump during his absence.
It was then that he heard her voice. Calm as ever, but to those who knew her, knew that there was an immense amount of joy from the cloaked Titan. "Rae Rae!!" he said, turning to her as a rather stupid looking grin smeared across his face. It was then that a rather smelly, orange sock floated in his face. "You got my note!" he exclaimed, grabbing the sock and throwing it into his back pocket. He could do laundry later. For now, he was content spending time with his friends.
He reached forward, grabbing a hold of Raven as he gave her a very warm hug. "I missed you so much..." His eyes then shot open and a blush moved over his cheeks as he pulled back a bit. "You guys. Missed you guys so much." he stammered. It was then that the electronic beat faded out and a new song began playing on the boombox. Slowly, he released his hold of Raven as he rubbed his arm nervously. "Would you like to dance?"
It was good to have Beast Boy back. Robin grinned, “Of course. Wouldn't be leading by example if I slacked off, now would it?” the Boy Wonder said, high fiving his team mate. The information relayed that the pizzas came from Red Star wasn't surprising. Robin wasn't sure what to think about the jewelry auction, but Russians could be weird. The kid who'd grown up in a circus wasn't about to judge a fellow Titan for liking sparkly things. He'd judge him for other stuff.
“Cool,” Robin replied twisting open his water bottle with a cracking sound. He pulled off the lid and took a drink while he listened to Beast Boy sheepishly explain that he'd lost his communicator. Of course he had. The Boy Wonder recapped his water bottle and studied his teammate through a slightly narrowed mask. “That explains why we haven't heard from you,” the boy said dryly, reaching into his belt to pull out the spare communicator he kept to give to random people.
I mean...random people who had the potential to be Titans. Not really random people. Nope.
He tossed the communicator to Beast Boy. “It's synced to the mainframe, but make sure Cyborg updates your settings,” the Boy Wonder advised. “It's set to the lowest functionality right now.” but before any real technobabble could happen, Raven made her grand entrance. Or rather, she just sort of entered, and Beast Boy declared she was there. Robin smirked, turning to face his other teammate. “Hey Raven,” he greeted, watching their altercation with a sock.
Weirder things had happened in the tower. Weirder things would continue to happen in the tower. Robin took a drink of his water, grinning behind the plastic as the two teammates were reunited. The grin turned into a smirk when Beast Boy fumbled with his words, but Robin was quick to pick up the interpersonal radio static and set it to a better station.
“Learn any cool dance moves in India?” he asked the green teen, standing abruptly, and tossing his capped water bottle behind him on the couch. Robin was never one to turn down a learning experience.
"--and I said, 'Glorpnog? I was talking about Blurpnog!" a distinctly female voice said in elation, followed by Cyborg's booming laughter just as the main door in the common room, leading from the hall, opened to reveal the Tamaranean and half-robot walking in together. Cyborg wiped a tear from the corner of his eye, catching his breath.
"Aww man, you know--when you know the context, Tamaraneans are hilarious," Cyborg said to Starfire as they walked down the steps together, eyes on each other. The music was blaring in the background, unnoticed to the pair who were used to commotion in this area of the tower. "Aaaand surprisingly unbashful--I didn't know you had it in you, little lady," Cyborg said with one brow raised and a smirk, to which Starfire responded with her own sly gaze and wide, toothy grin.
"I can be full of surprises," she said as she adjusted her hair over her shoulder. Those were dangerously flirtatious undertones and Cyborg could process them from a mile away. Though, speaking of surprises.
"Careful now, we keep this up and--"
Starfire gasped and stopped Cyborg dead in his tracks with an extended arm--which almost dented his body armour! "What the--"
"Beastboy!" Starfire exclaimed, green eyes landing on the green friend. "Eeeeeee!" she got off her feet and zoomed in a horizontal line toward her 'long-time-no-see' friend and threw her arms around him, coming to stand again. It was his turn to be off his feet when she squeezed and lifted his shorter frame off the ground. "My friend! I have missed you!" she said, getting dangerously close to forgetting what her strength was when she finally had mercy and put him back down on his feet--only to grab his shoulders and start to shake him. "Where have you been? Why have you not contacted us?! We were worried about you!"
"Yo, BB!" Cyborg called out with a happy-to-see-him expression as he ambled over, and with a touch of a hand to Star's shoulder managed to get the enthusiastic girl to let up. "Awright, good to see you buddy," he said and held out a metal paw for his favourite green animal to snag. The good ol' side-five, fist bump and snap'n'fingergun.
Raven nodded back to Robin, acknowledging his presence in her quiet way, and she barely had a moment to prepare herself before Beast Boy was wrapped around her in a hug. She tensed, as she most often did when physical affection was involved, but after a second, she managed to work an arm out of his grasp to return the hug by means of a pat on his back.
"I missed you too, Beast Boy," she admitted, picking up on the younger boy's nervous embarrassment and choosing to ignore it for his sake.
But then he asked her to dance and all she could do was blink. Not that she didn't fully appreciate art of dancing; she did. She recognized the talent and grace and rhythm required.... She didn't usually exercise them. Dancing was first and foremost an emotion-based action.... Especially when a boy blushed as he asked you.
Luckily, Robin saved her startled self with his request for Indian dancing lessons which would have been a sight to see, Raven's author thought to herself with a chuckle, and then Starfire finished the job, zooming through the air and squealing at a decibel that might have deafened Beast Boy, had he been a dog and not a dino earlier. Raven stepped back, allowing Starfire the room to fully embrace and welcome Beast Boy home and the empath nodded at Robin in a silent thank you for stepping in. Awkward was not her favourite state of being.
While the other two said their "hello"s and "welcome home"s, Raven ambled into the kitchen to heat up some tea, giving the tower of pizza a glance as she passed. "Sooooo," she started, fishing a spoon out of the silverware drawer and twirling it around in her cup without moving her hands. She nodded at the pizzas resting on the counter. "Were we thinking Pizza Party, or...?"
A cold shiver ran through his body as Robin's stare pierced through his very soul. He wasn't proud of his communicator being broken, but he hoped his teammates would understand the reasoning behind his absence. He couldn't help but smile at Raven. Where most people would see her actions as being cold and distant, BB knew that was just how she was. And, those small glimmers of affection conveyed so much more than the majority of the world could ever understand.
But, Beast Boy understood, and he cherished those moments.
"Oh man. You have no idea. I thought monks were totally boring. No way. They party like it's nobody's bu..." As he was explaining some of the moves he learned in India, he was interrupted by a Tamaranean squee. "Star...!!" he said, up until she latched onto him. And he felt most of the air being forced out of his body. "...fire..." he choked out. Various muscles began to pop, and a few bones cracked. She was safe not to break him. But, she certainly squeezed a lot of the life out of him.
To make matters worse, she then proceeded to grill him whilst shaking him. When it was all said and done, he was a colourless form, a line of drool hanging out of the side of his mouth. When she stopped shaking him, he rapidly shook his head, his form going back to it's normal, coloured self. "I fear for your children..." he said, finally able to properly hug her in return.
"There's my dude." he said, side-five, fist bump and snap'n'fingergun to his best bro. Fist knocking his own chest. Bro stuff. Brocode. He then handed Cyborg his new communicator. "Could you set this up for me, dude? Robin just gave it to me like three minutes ago." When Raven came back into the Common Room, he turned off the stereo. Reaching up into the ether, he pulled down a white sheet. Snapping his fingers, the lights went out, and a projector came on.
On the sheet, scenes began to play out. Beast Boy approached the sheet, narrating the events. "So, I got a call from the Doom Patrol that they needed me to help them take down the Brotherhood of Evil. They had been stealing idols and harnessing spiritual energy in order to control people's minds. What I hadn't realized was that the Doom Patrol was under the influence of this new weapon. I was ambushed by my own allies, and the first thing they took was my communicator. Smashed it to pieces.
"But, I was able to destroy the facility. In the resulting explosion, I was thrown into the river, my head hitting a large rock." With that, he parted his hair on the side of his head, revealing a scar from where he had been gashed open. "I was found by a Buddhist monk who took me to his monastery. I had no memories, so I was content living the simple life of a man of cloth. All that changed when, one day gathering food in the jungle, I was ambushed by a tiger. Instincts took over, and I was able to shapechange and ward off my attacker.
"On my way back to the monastery, I regained my memories. I thanked the monks for taking me in. And, had to make my way back to Jump City. So..." he said, pulling the bottom of the sheet as it retracted back into the ether and the lights came back on and the projector disappearing into nothingness. "It's part Pizza Party. But, mostly an apology for being away for so long. And a small token of me trying to show how much you guys all mean to me."
Robin returned Raven's nod, his attention turning to the rest of the core team that just happened to stroll right in. He grinned as he watched Beast Boy reunite with Starfire and Cyborg. This time they were going to get the full story of what had happened to their friend, and so the Boy Wonder plopped right back down on the couch with his water bottle for the long haul.
The lights dimmed in classic cartoon recounting of a missed story. He watched the images flash by, listening to the story as Beast Boy told them. It was a pretty fantastic story with monks and amnesia, oh, and tigers. He'd known the other boy was off to help the Doom Patrol on some sort of mission. Robin understood dealing with old mentors. He hadn't asked much, just sending the other teen off with the reminder to call them if he needed them.
When the lights flipped back on the subject of the pizza was brought up. Robin wasn't sure how a pizza party pretty much planned out by Red Star made sense as an apology from Beast Boy. How much of a token could it be if all you did was show up? But he wasn't going to complain about food. Especially if it was not fuzzy or blue.
“We missed you too,” Robin told their friend with a wry smile. “Let's get this pizza party started.”

The roleplay takes place after the series end of the original Teen Titans animated show, but does not include the movie Trouble in Tokyo. Since then Robin has been on something of a recruiting spree, and many new young heroes have found themselves a home in Jump City as well as Titan Tower.
