"Gladly." She grinned and turned turned her knife back into a a bracelet and got off Grant's back before standing and offering a hand up. She frowned a moment thinking about what she wanted to do next when her stomach decided for her. "Dinner, besides I think we're going to get kicked out soon anyway. If you're interested in a free meal meet me out front when you're finished changing."
Mnem grabbed her jacket and stood outside as she unwrapped her hands grinning. It had been a good fight, she was a sweaty mess, but she hadn't brought a change of clothes. Her original plan had been to get her workout then go home, but she hadn't expected to run into a dead man. She winced trying to take a deep breath in, he had got a few good shots in as well. When was the last time she had gotten to let loose like that? "You know that was a really good fight."
Once she let his arm go and got off his back, he glanced at the outstretched hand of hers. It was a kind gesture, helping a fallen person and yet at the same time one never could tell if that help was genuine or a trick or if the one that was being helped would use it to their advantage. This time, it was just a sparring match so there was no harm in the gesture. He accepted the hand up, something he wouldn't have considered in the past. He listened to her words and couldn't help but grin even though he had lost technically he was still getting what he'd asked for to some extent.
He headed for the locker room as she headed outside. His first objective being to pop his arm back in place. Though it would hurt for a bit, he'd at least be able to use it again. He grit his teeth as he forced the arm back into its socket, holding both up and clenching his fists a few times to make sure things were working properly. There was still some residual pain but it was easy to ignore for a bit, granted he would be hurting tomorrow. He changed into a pair of faded jeans and a T shirt, shoving his gym clothes into the bag he'd brought. For a couple minutes he stared at his reflection in the mirror and fixed his hair. It was a force of habit and one of the very few vain streaks he had in him. When he looked acceptable, he walked out of the locker room and headed out front, the bag on his shoulder.
He opened the front door just as she was speaking. Impeccable timing as always. "It was a good fight. Makes me wonder a few things." His tone was honest but the last part was muttered under his breath. Looking up at the sky he quickly checked his phone for the time. Although it was late, there were still several places that were still open, including a few little restaurants that were pretty amazing. Looking back at her as he pocketed the phone he spoke, "How about I pay for dinner? Wherever you want to go. My treat."
Mnemosyne grinned when she saw Grant was here, the sun was already well below the horizon so the streets in this part of town were half lit with broken street lamps. She heard Grant mutter something before he made his offer to buy food. "This isn't going to cover that favor you owe me by the way. I think there is a Chinese place down the street that is still open."
The restaurant was a couple blocks down from the gym, the pair didn't run into any trouble on the way over, as they walked Mnemosyne decided to break the silence. "So what happened? As you know doubt knows, why did you let everyone think you were dead?"
Mnemosyne glanced around still on edge. For the same reason she liked the gym, Mnem had to keep an eye out for her own skin. Despite seeing to tall people that look in very good shape, people are stupid. Specifically common gang thugs. They were idiots that thought they owned the neighborhoods. Idiots.
He walked along with Mnemosyne, trying to remain silent. He had no concerns about street thugs as most of them were too stupid to realize who they were dealing with. The mention of chinese food on the other hand made him realize that he's been eating nothing but junk food lately and this was a nice change of pace. He had no trouble about walking in silence but it seemed someone did. Her question had been one that he knew many would be asking if they knew he had lived through that massacre.
For a moment, he thought silently, the only sound being their footsteps as they moved forward. "I could tell you but it'll cost you." He grinned at her as he spoke. "You'll owe me one." The words were an echo of her earlier wager. Grant Wilson never gave up information for free. There always had to be something in it for him.
Mnemosyne was frowned when he said she would owe him if she wanted to know, how badly did she want to know? She would have to think about it. She let the conversation drop till they got to the restaurant.
The front facade matched the rest of the neighborhood being rundown and covered with tags of various gangs. The inside was not much better, barring one thing. The smell coming from the kitchen was glorious. It made her stomach grumble again as they took a seat in one of the booths, Mnem sat making sure she had a view of the front door, after being a villain and people wanting to kill you, one developed a healthy level of paranoia and situational awareness.
A waitress dropped by to give them a set of menus before busing herself so she was away from the strange pair of teenagers that was out this late at night in this neighborhood.
Ah, the good old beatdown section of the city, riddled with tags and the occasional bout of thievery. Though most of the dealings here were shady, it all came down to the fact that people needed to survive however they could. He walked inside the restaurant, taking a deep breath of the wonderful smell of food. He took a seat at the table she chose, making sure to sit across from her so that he could keep an eye on her for several reasons.
He smiled politely at the waitress when she dropped the menus off at their table only to let his gaze settle back on Mnemosyne. "So what would you like? I know I'd like to see you relax for a little." The fact she was on edge still was completely obvious to him, after all he knew the game well. He also knew that for right this second they were safe and didn't have a reason to fear. Besides, with the way the building was made they would hear any trouble before it hit them thanks to how thin the walls were.
"The chow mein and the orange chicken are both good." She said without looking at the list of foods. Mnem sighed and let some of the tension out of her shoulders, the adrenaline was still running through her making her tense, it normally takes a couple of hours for it to work its way out fully. Mnemosyne took a sip of her water looked over at Grant, "So do you do this all the girls you meet or am I just special? This is also about as relaxed as I'm going to get for a little bit. Okay i-Duck!"
She cursed when she head the alarm next door go off and someone came busting through the wall dressed in dark clothes, his hands were on fire and he had a backpack on his back. The idiot was grinning before shooting off a shot of fire into the building he had just come from, what used to look like a pawn shop. Mnem was already up and moving by the time the crook was heading for the back door. "Too bad this had to be cut short, gym same time next week?"
Just as Grant had been about to give her a classic little reply, some idiot had come barging in. For a moment, he waited, watching the fire throwing kid burn a pawn shop across the street and watching Mnemosyne disappear out the front door. Perfect. Just where he wanted things. This kid had ruined the moment and he was about to ruin this kid's face. Moving a bit faster than a normal person would have expected, Grant threw a punch as the thief was turning back to look at the door. The timing was priceless. Just as the thief had looked forward Grant's fist caused his vision to go black and with the amount of force he had used, it would take some time before he regained consciousness.
Now all that was left was to track down Mnemosyne before she got too far.
But.....he was going to give her a head start. What game was fun without the opponent having a head start?
Mnem was already down the block before turning into an ally way. as she came out the other side she pulled up her hood and joined the crowd. She watched the fire for a moment before she turned and walked away letting her metal senses lead her toward the subway station.
With her height most people moved out of her way, and she didn't have step out of the way of many people, most wanted to avoid getting her way. The fire department was on their way and so were a few police cars. They were going to head her direction so she turned deciding to walk home. It was nice night and with the police in the area it was calm.
Mnem opened her eyes and grinned sensing a specific piece of metal heading her way. "Why am I not surprised?"
For a moment, he hid in the crowd watching the scarlet and amber flames dance about the building. Oh well, it was collateral damage. That sort of thing happened often in his line of work and in his life generally. As the sound of screaming sirens reached him, he slipped deeper into the mass of the crowd and started tracking his target. A slow grin touched his lips as he silently followed Mnem through the crowd of people, keeping a safe and healthy distance so he didn't alert her.
He waited for the coast to be clear before he made his presence known. When she spoke, he couldn't help but smile a little. "Didn't think you'd lose me that easily did you?" On one hand, he enjoyed catching up with someone he knew from a past life of his and on the other, she knew something he had been so careful to make sure no one found out. "And I heard you thinking about me so of course I followed." His words carried an honest tone, yet his grin was playful. Full of contradictions, he gave her no answers to any of the questions that could be running through her mind.

The roleplay takes place after the series end of the original Teen Titans animated show, but does not include the movie Trouble in Tokyo. Since then Robin has been on something of a recruiting spree, and many new young heroes have found themselves a home in Jump City as well as Titan Tower.
