Characters: Rose (Ravager), NPC Chang, & OPEN Setting: At night in the warehouse district. Previous Threads: None Plot Summary: Rose makes her debut as Ravager while trying to steal back her father's robot army from Profesor Chang.
Light pollution and a dim moon were the only things that lit up the corner of the warehouse district where the less than scrupulous "business men" kept the wares they didn't want the authorities sniffing around. Rose's eyes narrowed behind her mask as she skidded along a rooftop and dropped into the alleyway between two buildings.
She had a specific destination in mind. Chang had stolen her father's robots after that little blond daughter wannabe killed him. She'd tried to fight the creep then, but she hadn't gotten very far before Wintergreen pulled her back. Maybe he was right. Maybe she would have gotten her stupid butt kicked. Rose had watched Chang take the robots, which weren't his even if he said he'd helped build them, and her plan for revenge had taken on another dimension.
Now nothing was going to stop her.
In the time since she had worked on her own to develop the costume she was wearing, and further the skills she already had. She looked like a classic ninja wearing armor and a belt filled with weapons. What stood out most was her mask. It was the same colors as her father's had been: one half orange, and the other black. Like his, the black half covered an eye, unlike him she still had both of them. Her mask was the inverse of his only covering the top half of her face, she was similar but not the same, and the code name she'd taken had been her dearly departed brother's. It was in this way that Ravager honored her fallen family members.
The wood here was damp and smelled of mildew. Her boots could keep traction, but the rain that had fallen heavily earlier in the evening would hopefully give her an advantage even if the lingering humidity made her armor uncomfortable. Only an idiot, or a desperate person, robbed a place when the weather was less than nice. Rose frowned as she crawled to the top of a warehouse roof and peeked across. She could see the guards from here, they had strange red weapons, and terrible form. The little super soldier squinted. Chang had to be hiding her fathers robots in there.
Days of being free to live freely had kind to Paige; she'd seen what Jump City had to offer her, and now she wanted to give something back in appreciated. A little community service, if she had to explain herself to the police. The Papyrokinetic had not attracted the attention of the Titans with her previous endeavors, so maybe she needed to step up her game a bit. The weather wasn't perfect; the mildew from the warehouse roof threatened to seep through her skin. That didn't damper the young heroine's confidence one bit -- nothing was going to stop her tonight.
For one, Paige had "borrowed" a set of clothes from a thrift shop, every hero needed a disguise. From behind her little black domino mask, Paige felt as mysterious as a hero should. A black hoodie concealed her bright blonde hair as she raced across the warehouse rooftops -- and that was all it concealed, as she hadn't found anything to replace her black skirt. It all honesty, Paige's disguise was rather flimsy, but she didn't want to steal-- borrow too much. She already felt like a hypocrite, a thief prowling the warehouse for other thieves, and taking more than the bare essentials would have weighed on her conscience even more.
The warehouse district had been a common destination for the local news; there were countless unconfirmed reports of criminal activity in the area, which is why it was perfect for an up-and-coming superhero like herself to patrol. Luckily for Paige, it seemed that somebody else had the same idea. Across the street, a girl dressed in an outfit that was more impressive than her own had scaled to the top of another warehouse. This is great! Two heroes working together'll have a way better chance at stopping whatever crime's going on tonight, Paige reasoned, if she hadn't sworn herself to silence, she would have squealed with delight -- her own teammate!
With a deep breath, Paige took a running leap off of the roof and silently broke into a hundred sheets of plain white paper. The wind carried her across the street, and the ninja girl would have no trouble seeing her approaching from the side of her eye. Once she was safely over the other rooftop, the sheets reformed into her dainty human shape, and colorful textures came into focus. Right behind the ninja girl was a beaming masked blonde whose blonde hair poked out from under her hood. That smile faded quickly once she realized that heroes needed to stay at least somewhat professional.
"H-Hello, are you looking to stop crime as well?" Paige spoke up in a whisper, "I'm Page Turner, and I'm here to help." She said, smiling.
Rose was studying the guards intently and planning how she was going to smash their faces in get past them. Movement on her periphery caught her attention, but the white haired ninja didn't pay too much attention to it when the movement seemed to just be paper lost in the breeze. She scanned behind her. Still clear. Then turned her attention once more towards Chang's warehouse. The ninja moved, coiling to spring over the peak of the roof and slide down closer when something startled her. She hadn't been expecting anyone to suddenly appear out of nowhere behind her. Rose jumped at the voice, whirling around to face a girl in a mask and a hoodie.
The ninja studied the blonde, her single visible eye flicking over her features, before her lips tightened into a line. "Never heard of you," she said dismissively. "And I didn't ask for any help." But, really, it was better this way. A Titan's interference would have to actually be dealt with. This girl's could be used to her advantage. Someone else Chang's cronies could shoot at while she went straight for the man who thought he could steal from a Wilson. Rose sighed, her demeanor becoming slightly less prickly. "But...whatever..." she had already mulled it over, decided, and was moving. "C'm'ere," the ninja beckoned Paige forward, and crawled up to the peak of the roof, only her black and orange mask visible above it. "See the guys with the glowing red stick-things?" Rose asked the other girl. "Their boss stole something, and I'm going to get it back. It's in there." she pointed at the warehouse. "Think you can distract them while I get inside?"
Though Paige was taken about by the ninja's hostility, she didn't completely fault her for it. Heroes on TV usually looked and acted professional, and Rose seemed to be the real deal. It wasn't hard to imagine that she hadn't anticipated a rookie to come along and help her thwart evil. Thankfully, she wasn't sent off or told to go home, and it was Paige's desire to impress this heroine that kept her from smarting off. In fact, seeing the girl's costume -- an armored outfit that looked practical as well as intimidating -- well, Paige couldn't not stare at it, even as the girl crawled off.
A sharp beckoning reminded Paige of her mission, and she tried to follow the ninja's example -- albeit her crawling was much slower and nosier. Side-by-side, she listened attentively as the warehouse with patrolling guards who wielded their weird-looking red weapons were pointed out to her. Her role in recovering this stolen item rubbed Paige the wrong way, it was something a sidekick did; no doubt this girl was going to get in on all the real action while she dealt with rank-and-file flunkies. "I--" Paige started to say, but one look at the ninja's business-like face quelled her complaint, "yeah, I...I can do that." Paige was shivering, not from the cold, but from anticipation; she was helping a professional!
"Before we go, can you tell me anything else? Liiiiike what those weapons do? And your name? Your uh, your code-name, I mean." Paige asked, squirming in place from discomfort and accidentally bumping into her partner once, twice, maybe five times.
Rose glanced sharply at the other girl as she stuttered out something of an answer. Paige's shaking didn't give the youngest Wilson much confidence in her new companion. But, as a distraction, existing would probably be enough to catch the attention of Chang's hired help. She could have just as easily gotten a monkey from the zoo to do that. Not that she needed one.
"Don't let them touch you," the masked ninja warned Paige when the other girl asked what the red things did. Rose didn't know the exact science behind them, but she wasn't going to tell Paige that. Not while she was enjoying how readily the other girl took to her giving orders. Maybe she should invest in some minions. The power trip was intoxicating. "Call me Ravager," Rose said as she shifted, coiling to spring. "Try to keep up."
And with that the ninja was gone. She skidded down the other slope of the roof, dropping silently into the alley on the other side. The youngest Wilson moved at a sprint, following the edge of the alley wall. She moved stealthily into a better position from which she could see the glow from their electric staffs gleaming in the guard's protective goggles. It was kind of cool.
Ravager. The name had some power behind it, and it made Paige shudder to hear it over and over in her head, or maybe they were more nervous chills. In any case, the Papyrokinetic's descent to the street was not as flashy as Ravager's. She merely floated down in her paper form and materialized beside the ninjette, who had already taken off down the alley. Paige wasn't out of shape, but she had difficulty keeping up with Ravager's powerful bounds. She's so cool, she could hardly stifle her squeeing -- she was teaming up with a ninja superheroine.
Taking her place beside her partner, the duo had a clear view of the warehouse's entrance, where a small group of guards lazily patrolled the area. They didn't expect any intruders, or maybe their fancy weapons gave them a false sense of security. Either way, Paige was grinning widely; the element of surprise was on their side.
Just as she was prepared to commence her distraction, she glanced at Ravager, whose single eye practically glowed in the darkness. "S-So, uh, this might be a bad time, but I was wondering why you went with the whole...y'know, ninja look." Paige couldn't resist, the possibility that they could become separated was too great for her. They'd only been hanging out for a few minutes, but the papyrokinetic was simply infatuated with her ninja comrade's coolness. She was exactly the kind of professional Paige wanted to be.
Thinking of professionalism made Paige's eyes go wide. They were on a mission and here she was, trying to get an interview from her teammate. "N-Nevermind! Bad time. Totally a bad time. I'll just... I'll just go now!" With that, Paige darted straight out of the alleyway with a face redder than a tomato. How embarrassing...
With her mind (somewhat) back on the mission, Paige decided to take full advantage of the goons's lack of awareness. Dozens of paper sheets flew out of her hoodie's front pouch and slid over Paige's arms. With a simultaneous thrust of her hands, the sheets on each arm flew forward and swiftly formed a kickball sized shape. These spheres sailed straight at the nearest guards's stomachs with the force of a bodybuilder's strongest right hook. It was certainly the kind of entrance Paige had wanted to make.

While it might have looked like Ravager was developing a plan she actually wasn't. Making plans was too much effort. It was easier, and more fun, to charge in blindly and hope that she didn't die. A voice behind her caught Rose's rapidly moving attention, and her eye rolled visibly as the topic went to costume choices. The ninja turned to glare at the blonde, but she caught nothing more than a quick glance of the other teenager's red face as she sprinted out of the alleyway.
Rose watched just long enough to see her distraction off to a good start making giant balls of...paper? and shooting them off at the guards. Wow. That was actually impressive. Maybe she wasn't useless after all. But Rose didn't exactly stick around to find out. The ninja was gone, moving past Paige, and pulling an explosive out of her pouch as she ran.
The guards in front of the nearest entrance didn't move from their spot even as Paige's attack drew in their attention. The turned on their rods, the red tip crackling with dangerous electricity, in anticipation. They would never get to use it. Something hit the door between them with a thud, and one of the guards bent to study the object. It had a double S shape blade to it, and the middle was rapidly counting down to- crud.
Ravager couldn't help but smirk as she ran right through the doors she'd just blasted in. The guards weren't dead, probably, just stunned. Maybe missing half their face. There wasn't too much time to gloat as she skidded to a stop in the massive space that the warehouse covered. It might have been impressive if her dad wasn't the world's greatest mercenary. She took it all in quickly. There seemed to be some kind of a lab. There was an array of...laser shooty..thingys. And there lying on a table in spare parts was one of the things she had come to retrieve. The black and orange robot obviously matched her costume.
Impulsively the girl walked over to the robot, her single visible eye bouncing from it to the rest of the area. Where was Chang? Where were the other robots?
A normal person might have turned tail and got the heck out of there once the guards brandished their weird looking batons, but not Paige. Instead, she smirked (she hoped it was a good smirk) and pointed at them lazily, "you won't get a chance to use your diabolical tools, 'cause Pag-" this heroic statement was interrupted by Ravager, who'd moved so fast that even the guards weren't entirely sure what had happened. Then the door behind them exploded, sending the guards flying while Paige stood there, she was still holding her pose, but that confidence had deflated. Now she just looked disappointed, like a kid who'd had her birthday candles blown out by someone else. Paige consoled herself with the fact that she did help Ravager distract the guards, but if the ninja girl was grateful, she didn't show it as she walked into the warehouse without acknowledging her.
After making sure the guards had a steady pulse to assuage her worries, Paige gingerly stepped through the destroyed doorway leading to the warehouse. The interior was massive, full of scientific-looking doodads and gadgets lining the walls, shelves, and ceilings. What seemed to have Ravager's attention, however, was a lanky-looking robot splayed out over the table. "Hey, that thing kinda looks like you, but ah...not as scary." She joked, "is this what you're looking for?"
The longer Paige stood in this warehouse, the more she realized that it was utterly empty. She'd expected armed guards to come bursting out at the sound of that massive, very not-ninjalike explosion. Instead there was nothing at all; no guards, no supervisor, nothing. Gonna be cliche, but...it really is too quiet in here. The heroine mused, and she tried to look as calm as Ravager, though anyone could tell from her pacing that she was itching to get out with the stolen goods as soon as possible.
Rose glanced up at the sound of someone approaching. It was just the other girl. No other guards? She frowned, but not really at Paige, as the blond noticed the robot that had attracted her attention. "One of them," Ravager replied offhandedly. The ninja reached for the robot, her hand moving towards the panel that would activate it manually, but when she hit it a deep thud echoed through the modified warehouse followed by the rhythmic sounds of marching hydraulics.
The little ninja recoiled from the robot, turned sharply in the direction they'd entered, and was dismayed to find that it was blocked by her Father's own robots. Dozens of orange and black droids stared blankly back at her. She whirled, but the robots were swiftly circling them like so many Billy Numerouses, and the girl reached into her belt and extended her bostaff with a click. "Were you paying attention?" she asked Paige in a low voice. It might have been an accusation, but the snarl in her voice wasn't for her new sidekick.
"That panel I opened on the robot. It's the manual shut off and activation. Aim for that-" but she didn't get to finish her explanation as a large TV screen moved towards them from a robotic arm. The man on the screen wasn't pretty, with sallow skin, and a weird tube that attached to his nose. He was also giggling like he'd just been told he won Publisher's Clearing House.
"You've been bad girls," the man said, his face contorting as he giggled. "I knew you would come, little Slade girl, but who is your -hehe- pretty friend?"
Ooc: I got so wrapped up in the holidays I forgot my other threads xD Sorry! D:
Surrounded by a horde of killer robots, Paige's thoughts turned to how quickly the situation escalated. She had no idea that one of her first leaps into crime-fighting would involve giant killer ninja bots. Luckily, Paige wasn't so scared that she'd be frozen in place, unable to do anything. "I...I might have drifted off!" She sounded like a scolded child who'd been caught stealing cookies.
Thankfully, Rose didn't have the chance to smack her upside the head with that cool bo-staff of hers thanks to the televised visage of a man who looked like all the air had been sucked right out of his face through that ugly tube on his honker. Paige shivered, the villain's gaze was too terrifying to look at, and she could feel his voice like ice sliding down her back. Be brave, come up with a snarky retort! The papyrokinetic put on her best glare and met the TV man's eyes, "a n-new hero who's here to smash up all these robots and kick your a-- butt!" She shot Rose a nervous, apologetic look when she remembered that the ninja girl had wanted to save these bots, not destroy them.
Panel in the middle of their chests... The pocket of Paige's hoodie shifted, and over a dozen sheets of notebook paper flew out at blindingly fast speeds. Without a second's delay, the pint-sized heroine punched straight at the metal monster in front of her, which sent all of the paper sheets shooting straight for the vulnerable chest area, razor sharp edge facing forward. Was it the chest? I...I didn't get a good look!
"A -heheh- hero?" the man practically leered. Rose made a face as the television on the robotic base moved to get a better look. His beady eyes narrowed behind the thick glass. "This isn't a place for good little girls-"
"Hey, creeper no creepwhoa." the ninja's eye widened comically as the paper or whatever tore through the chest of one of the robots and revealed some of the inner gears. She hadn't been expecting that, but it was kind of a welcome surprise. The little ninja smirked and charged in after Paige with her bostaff. While she did want the robots back the girl was more concerned about Chang having them, and less about the army being intact afterwards. Plus, she just wasn't that good at planning,
The little ninja smashed into a Sladebot with her feet, girl and bot crashing to the ground spectacularly. She took a moment to give it another solid kick to the face, smirking as the wiring was exposed, before she turned. One of the other bots was moving towards her. These things could be fast when they wanted to be and Chang had given them his creepy weapons. The thing aimed it's red goop and fired.
Ravager jumped up vertically with incredible power, away from the goop, flipping in midair and landing on the bot's shoulders. It buckled beneath her, crashing to the ground with a satisfying thud and disturbing SQUELCH as it sank into the gross red goop it had just been shooting a moment ago. A spinning kick knocked another bot from getting too close. "Don't get caught in the red boogers," Rose warned Paige, prodding at the red stuff with her bo-staff and making an immature face as it stuck to it like stringy bubblegum.

The roleplay takes place after the series end of the original Teen Titans animated show, but does not include the movie Trouble in Tokyo. Since then Robin has been on something of a recruiting spree, and many new young heroes have found themselves a home in Jump City as well as Titan Tower.
