Mimic is short standing at only five foot even. She has short dark blue hair with streaks of a lighter blue, pure white pupiless eyes that glow everytime she turns her arms and hands into guns, and light brown skin. Her ears a pointy like an elf's, has non-retractable fangs, a long forked tongue, has tiny scars along her fingertips (side effects of the experiments she underwent). Believing herself to be a defective human she is very self-conscious about her looks.
PERSONALITY
Max is a very mature and responsible kid who has a strong sense of justice. She is a responsible, reliable, and extremely loyal person. However, Max tends to wear a philosophical mask in an attempt to hide her true emotions. Deep down inside she is hurting. For the past nine years she had been deprived of a life of her own surrounded by a loving family and friends that care about her. She had been abducted by a cruel, greedy race of snakelike aliens known as the Euremians who brainwashed her into thinking she was one of them. Further they turned her into a weapon and used her as they saw fit. Upon learning the truth, Max fled back to Earth only to discover that her true family is dead, murdered by unknown people.
As a result, Max is understandably very angry and upset by this revelation. One of her biggest regrets in life was not being there. She feels that she maybe could have saved them had she been there. As a result Max hides her true feelings under a mask. It's the main reason she acts the way she does. And so Max acts like a cheerful, energetic, happy go lucky teenaged girl. She is very sweet, bubbly and outgoing.
She is also a huge flirt and very clingy. Due to having been deprived of human interaction for so long, Max is determined to make it up in some way. So Max fills this void by flirting and showing off to boys at every given opportunity. As a major attention seeker, Max constantly craves for positive attention from people in an attempt to find someone to bond with. As a downside, she gets jealous way too easy. Whenever she sees a friend paying attention to another she cannot help, but feel jealous. She is also a bit naive at times since she tends to act all confused whenever a guy she is just casually flirting with takes it way too seriously. Sometimes guys are bothered by her trying to flirt with them while others see it as an opportunity to ask her out; which confuses her since she sees it all as a harmless game and doesn't always mean it.
She, unfortunately, also has a bit of a mean streak. She can be pretty two-faced and tends to tell people what they want to hear as well as giving out compliments with false sincerity. For example, in a desperate attempt to be liked by everyone she will act like she likes something even if she doesn't. Then once that person is no longer around she will turn around and write her true feelings in a diary or share her true thoughts to someone she believes will agree with her true thoughts. Max: /to stranger smiling a fake smile/ "Oh wow, that dress is so pretty. Where did you get it?" Just a little while later to a trusted confident. "Oh wow, that was the ugliest dress I have ever seen!"
More on that, Max is also a bit of a compulsive liar. She has the nasty habit of lying usually about her life and the things she's done. She claims to be from a wealthy, well to do family and that she has powerful connections from both the filthy rich and from the criminal underground. She also refuses to admit to having ever been a slave to the Euremians. Instead, swearing that she is an actual alien. Also due to her pride, Mimic does not want to ever admit to needing help and also has trouble admitting whenever she is injured. She also tries her hardest to hide the fact she is color blind though often fails in that regard. She lies mainly out of pride.
An unfortunate side effect of the experiments Mimic went through left her not only color blind, but monochromatic as well. The only color she can really see are various shades of red. She can, however, at least still see various greens while in infrared mode. But those sadly are really the only two colors she can still see. She has trouble admitting this weakness, however often preferring to make up excuses for getting colors mixed up rather than just own up to it.
Because Mimic relies heavily on her keen sense of smell to see one could easily confuse her in a way with strong foreign scents such as perfume or cologne, blinding her in a way. Abrupt, loud sounds are also a major bother to her and hurt her sensitive ears; which she calls auditory interference.
Mimic is pretty mistrustful towards aliens particularly the Euremians since they were the ones that captured her and turned her into a weapon. She is more or less wary around non-Euremian aliens. While she won't be outright rude to the innocent aliens that had nothing to do with her capture and enslavement, she won't trust or feel comfortable around them straight away either.
For having forgotten much of Earth's customs and forgetting what behavior is socially accepted and seen as normal, Max is pretty socially awkward around normal humans because she simply does not know how to act around them. This is also why she tends to act all happy and bubbly all the time and why she is so flirtatious. Sadly, she has trouble recognizing rhetorical questions and tends to take some things literally. This is because Euremians do take things so literally and so when dealing with one; one needs to be extra careful and awfully specific with words. In other words, you must say what you mean otherwise Mimic won't get it. Unfortunately, she also has trouble concealing her twisted obsession with smelling objects specifically those once owned by someone else. Being a sniffer Mimic smells pretty much every little thing she comes across likely disturbing any nearby passerby.
Having been away from Earth and her loving human family for so long really did a number on Max. And being since raised by her violent, cruel alien captors really didn't help matters in the understanding of humans department. Only having recently returned to Earth and to Jump City, Max still has much to relearn about humans as well as the English language; which she has mostly forgotten. Further, Mimic sadly does not understand human emotion and feelings very well. She thinks that everytime someone complains about being tired or is in pain as an admission of weakness. This is why she often has trouble asking others for help and informing them when she is injured or not feeling good.
Max, unfortunately also has a short temper; which is a well-known trait among Euremians. It usually does not take a whole lot to irk her. In addition, Max has the bad tendency to hold grudges. If someone wrongs her in the past, she likely won't be forgiving that person any time soon. In fact, it would take a lot more than a mere apology to get back into her good graces. And because she succeeds so often she sometimes gets it in her head that she is unbeatable; which just isn't true. Overconfident, arrogant, and sporting a rather large ego, Max truly believes herself all that and a bag of chips and as such never misses a chance to show off and inform others of her greatness whether they want to listen to her or not. She thinks herself important. This is likely due to her secret feelings of inferiority. No longer knowing if she is more human or more alien, Max harbors deep-seeded feelings of inadequacy.
She also has an obsessive personality in that she has recently become obsessed with finding the killer responsible for her father's and older brother's demise. She wants to find him or her and make them pay. Further, she is insistent on doing this all alone claiming she needs help from no one. Yet another well-known Euremian trait.
Despite her lack of empathy and having been raised by the Euremians, Mimic does have some morals. She will not attack an unarmed, helpless opponent. Once she defeats them or they surrender, she will simply tie them up and for the police to pick up. She also has a strong moral code against attacking children (anyone younger than herself) and innocent people.
Maxine is also a bit self-conscious when it comes to her looks. Even though she mostly looks normal, she does not feel comfortable letting others see her less than normal eyes, ears and the strange alien markings on her fingers hence why she always wears gloves even when just hanging about in the tower. While she can easily hide her eyes and ears underneath her full-faced helmet even she knows she can't wear it all the time and so whenever she has it off she often worries what others may think of her. She does not want to be judged by her looks and fears being mocked. She now thinks herself as a defective human.
POWERS/SKILLS
Shapeshifter: Mimic has the amazing ability to transform into any inanimate object including weapons and vehicles. She can also half shift as in she can turn her own arms and hands into ranged weapons. She cannot, however, create melee based weapons and is only limited in forming various ranged weaponry.
Superhuman Strength: Being half alien she is a lot stronger and much more durable than average humans. She is, however, not nearly as strong as actual Euremians and various other aliens whose own physical strength far exceeds her own such as Tamaraneans.
Superhuman Senses (minus sight): The crude experiments forced upon her by her Euremian captors did a real number on all of her senses. Some of her senses such as smell and hearing were improved while sight was not. Her senses are very snakelike enabling her to have a far stronger sense of smell and have a higher auditory perception than others. Sadly such improved senses aren't free and come at a price. For one thing she cannot see as well as she used to. So to compensate for her poor eyesight she relies heavily on her other senses to get around.
Infrared Vision: She has access to infrared vision; which enables her to see in the dark and perceive heat signatures. Naturally in this vision mode she is limited to seeing living creatures in red while the environment and nonliving objects are in green.
Excellent Tracker: As a bounty hunter and a former minion of the Euremian military, Mimic is very good at tracking down people. She often employs her superhuman sense of smell and infrared vision to help her track down missing people and/or baddies.
Master hand to hand and long ranged combatant: Mimic is an excellent fighter thanks to all of her training she received from her alien captors. She is equally proficient at ranged and hand to hand combat. Her hands can turn into guns and she can also use her large hammer whenever enemies close in.
Flight: Mimic can either employ her shapeshifting abilities to change her into a flying object or her magical hammer.
Alien Sense: When Max is near aliens and other half aliens, a cold blue mist comes out of her mouth and a chill goes down her spine.
Master Gymnist: Even prior to her abduction, Max had been learning gymnastics and just continued to learn as she got older. Sometimes she likes to show off this ability by walking on her hands or by flipping and cartwheeling around.
Above average agility and endurance: Those daily training exercises she underwent for nine years of her life was no walk in the park. They forced her to think on her feet and to focus more on her training than on other things. Her endurance and agility are far beyond that of your average human making her on par with those who also train long and hard.
Matter Ingestion: Max had to get used to eating their strange alien food and fast. Luckily the experiments gifted her with a strong stomach able to handle just about anything including oil and gasoline; which she tends to drink to maintain her energy. She kind of has to drink it on a daily basis in order to move around as an object. She also likes to eat bugs and strange alien dishes. Will likely enjoy Starfire's cooking.
Venom: Coming from both her fangs and poison darts: Now this is when things get weird. While Mimic could use her fangs to insert her venom into someone she prefers to instead milk her own venom where she then fills her poison darts with her own venom. Her venom causes temporary paralysis to the infected area. For example, she shoots a poison dart in someone’s leg; there will be a sharp bout of pain followed by numbness until finally the victim will be unable to move their leg. The paralysis lasts for as long as the victim’s rper feels best. Slurred speech and double vision are other side effects to Mimic’s venom.
Venom Immunity: Mimic cannot be harmed by her own venom nor by the venom of others; which is definitely a good thing considering how often she accidentally bites her own cheek from eating too fast.
Regeneration: Mimic has the ability to heal faster than a normal human and regenerate missing limbs; which being an inanimate object shapeshifter has saved her on more than one occasion. However, limb regeneration takes far longer to heal than that of a simple cut or bruise. It takes her about an hour per limb while cuts and bruises take only a few seconds to heal fully. Thanks to her accelerated healing she is completely immune to diseases and other toxins. In other words she cannot get sick. Regeneration: Can re-grow any missing limbs save her head.
Magical Hammer: This hammer is a truly unique weapon since it chose Max when she turned twelve as a rite of passage. The blue and orange hammer only responds to her DNA and so only works for her. Further, Max can use it to fly upon swinging fast enough and as an excellent melee weapon. And like a boomerang it always comes back to her no matter how far she throws it.
As a bounty hunter her arsenal includes restraints such has handcuffs, rope and nets, and a lovely supply of poisoned darts. In addition, her fullfaced helmet has a built in translator.
WEAKNESSES
Poor eyesight: The crude experiments forcibly imposed on her may not have left her completely blind, but she does have trouble judging distance and seeing things that are several feet away. For Mimic she can maybe only see up to seven feet away. Anything further away than that is just a bunch of red fuzziness to her.
Color blind and monochromatic: Yet another unfortunate side effect of the experiments Mimic went through left her not only color blind, but monochromatic as well. The only color she can really see are various shades of red. She can, however, at least still see various greens while in infrared mode. But those sadly are really the only two colors she can still see.
Sensitive hearing and sense of smell: Because Mimic relies heavily on her keen sense of smell to see one could easily confuse her in a way with strong foreign scents such as perfume or cologne, blinding her in a way. Abrupt, loud sounds are also a major bother to her and hurt her sensitive ears; which she calls auditory interference.
Whenever she has a sneezing fit she loses control over her shifting. With every new sneeze she turns into something else.
Xenophobic of aliens: Mimic is pretty mistrustful towards aliens particularly the Euremians since they were the ones that captured her and turned her into a weapon. She is more or less wary around non-Euremian aliens. While she won't be outright rude to the innocent aliens that had nothing to do with her capture and enslavement, she won't trust or feel comfortable around them straight away either.
Low empathy for others: Mimic sadly does not understand human emotion and feelings very well. She thinks that everytime someone complains of being tired or is in pain as an admission of weakness
Short-tempered: Having a short temper, Mimic gets mad very easily. It usually does not take a whole lot to irk her.
Holds grudges: Mimic has the bad tendency to hold grudges. If someone wrongs her in the past, she likely won't be forgiving that person any time soon. In fact, it would take a lot more than a mere apology to get back into her good graces.
Lack of understanding of human customs: Having been away from Earth and her loving human family for so long really did a number on Max. And being since raised by her violent, cruel alien captors really didn't help matters in the understanding of humans department. Only having recently returned to Earth and to Jump City, Max still has much to relearn about humans as well as the English language; which she has mostly forgotten.
Because she does not know where she belongs, Max harbors deep-seeded feelings of inferiority and inadequacy. But because of her pride she won't ever admit this and instead acts like she is the best, most important person ever!
Cannot ignore the lure of easy cash: As a bounty hunter and a poor one at that as well as having zero connections on Earth, Mimic is not above accepting money in return for capturing someone. Currently, she does not really care who she works for so long as they pay her.
Currently lacks connections in Jump City: Having only recently arrived, Mimic knows next to nobody nor does she know of any of the city's villains. But she will learn of them soon.
Honorable fighter: Despite her lack of empathy and having been raised by the Euremians, Mimic does have some morals. She will not attack an unarmed, helpless opponent. Once she defeats them or they surrender, she will simply tie them up and for the police to pick up. She also has a strong moral code against attacking children (anyone younger than herself) and innocent people.
Has trouble concealing her twisted obsession with smelling objects specifically those once owned by someone else. Being a sniffer Mimic smells pretty much every little thing she comes across likely disturbing any nearby passerby.
Is socially awkward especially around the normal humans.
Compulsive liar: She has the nasty habit of lying usually about her life and the things she's done. She claims to be from a wealthy, well to do family and that she has powerful connections from both the filthy rich and from the criminal underground. She also refuses to admit to having ever been a slave to the Euremians. Instead, swearing that she is an actual alien. Also due to her pride, Mimic does not want to ever admit to needing help. She also tries her hardest to hide the fact she is color blind though often fails in that regard.
Has trouble recognizing rhetorical questions and tends to take some things literally. This is because Euremians do take things so literally and so when dealing with one; one needs to be extra careful and awfully specific with words. In other words, you must say what you mean otherwise Mimic won't get it.
Kind of naive and ignorant at times: She is often confused whenever guys take her flirting with them seriously.
Is mistrustful of others: Due to her ordeal with the Euremians, Mimic has trouble trusting others even if they aren't aliens.
Major attention seeker: At the same time, Mimic just loves all the extra attention so long as it's positive. She craves attention mainly due to having missed out on much of her childhood. Now she wants to make up for all that lost time by finding someone to bond with.
Boy crazy: It's no secret that Mimic loves boys. She just can't seem to help herself and so she surrounds herself with them. Her father was a boy and she misses him terribly. She sees surrounding herself with guys as a way to make up for her loss of father/daughter time.
Overly flirtatious: Mimic just loves to flirt with guys. She sees it all as a game and a bit of harmless fun though she rarely ever has feelings for any of them.
Major showoff: Mimic just loves to showoff her abilities; which more often than not catches the attention of others. Some good; others not so much.
Easily obsessed: Mimic recently has become obsessed with finding the killer responsible for her father's and older brother's demise. She wants to find him or her and make them pay. Further, she is insistent on doing this all alone claiming she needs help from no one.
Overconfident: Since she succeeds so often she sometimes gets it in her head that she is unbeatable; which just isn't true.
HISTORY
Maxine was born to a very loving family. She had a mom, dad and an older brother named, Todd. At the time her father was a respected pilot that performed all sorts of fantastical stunts and her mother was a nurse. But one day when little Max was only two years old her mother just upped and left her family. Max suspected this was due to typical marital problems that in her mind if recognized in time could have been easily fixed. Only thing she could really remember about her mom was this sweet lullaby she used to always sing to help her sleep. Luckily she taught it to both Stan and Todd before she left them.
After she had gone all Max really had left was her father and Todd. Where Todd once wanted little to do with Maxine with their mom gone Todd made up for it by helping their dad care for Max even to the point of letting the little toddler follow him around the house. Sometimes though the toddler got mischievous and would sneak into her dad’s stunt plane and mess around with its buttons causing Stan to yell at her. All in all it was a pretty good life she led, that is until the night of her abduction…
One night at the age of five she was just hanging out in her bedroom playing with her dad’s old Walkman while laying lazily on the bed when IT happened. The very first thing she noticed was a bright white light surrounding her once peaceful bedroom. Curious, she slid off her bed to take a closer look and to her horror she watched as strange, tall creatures descended off a large spaceship armed with strange heavy weaponry.
Terrified, she hid behind her bed. From her hiding spot she heard a loud banging sound going on for several minutes. It was so loud that it surprised her that neither her father nor older brother woke up, but Max had both ears covered. She was much relieved once the banging ceased. Cautiously, she peered from behind her bed and watched in horror as the aliens opened the window and crawled in. Holding her breath Max prayed she wouldn’t be seen. But just as she thought the aliens were all leaving she felt herself get grabbed up from behind. Max’s eyes widened as she came face to face with a tall, ferocious looking giant lizard that held her by the collar of her shirt. Feet dangling the poor girl nearly passed out from fear or it could have been because the creature holding her up didn’t brush his teeth in quite some time. Max felt certain the creature was going to devour her, but when it didn’t Max started yelling at the top of her lungs hoping that her family would hear her screams and come to her rescue. But her screams naturally agitated the creature; which clamped his hand over her mouth muting Max’s screams.
Max’s captor along with the other tall creatures then crawled back thru Max’s window from which they came and with the frightened young girl in their claws they took off for their ship parked just outside their house. But even once inside Max continued to struggle, but her captors kept a tight hold on her and the way they talked was so strange. Their ‘speech’ sounded like a clicking tongue. Max didn’t understand their words at all even as they roughly escorted her further inside their ship. It was there on the ship’s bridge where she met the commander of the ship, Commander Zion of the Euremian Airforce. She listened as her captor and the commander exchanged words and once they had finished she felt her captor shove her to the ground forcing her to bow while making more clicking sounds. Max felt certain that those clicking sounds translated to ‘bow.’ The next thing she knew one of the other large lizards returned with a book and opened it up for Max to see. One look at the book told Max that this had to be the ultimate book of languages. The alien pointed excitedly at Earth and Max understood right away what his captors were trying to ask her. Hoping there was a translator on board that knew English Max pointed at the word, ‘English.’
After that they sent her to a room which eerily reminded her of the doctor’s office back home and Max like most kids her age was never too keen in seeing the doctor especially alien ones. In a panic Max quickly rose from her seat only to be strapped down by the chair. She struggled and squirmed best she could only to be strapped in further. “Please, do not be doing the struggling.” A blue colored lizard shorter than the others he had seen walked in wearing a white labcoat and eye glasses. “Allow me to be introducing myself. I am called Dr. click click, but you can just call me Dr. Zax since that is probably easier for your species to say.” Max knew straight away that this alien doctor had to be the translator the others supposedly summoned for. “Please,” Max choked out, “who er what are you guys and why did you abduct me? And what is going on here? Where am I? Are you guys going to let me go?” At Max's series of questions the doctor just sighed. “Well, first of all we are called, Euremians and our commander wanted us to extract a dominant species from your planet, Earth. And allow me to be very blunt with you for a dominant species you Earthlings are awfully puny, downright diminutive in height. Why, there is even a lesser species taller than you lot known as the giraffe. We would never allow a subordinate species to outdo us in height. It just will never be done; which is why we make doubly sure that none of the enslaved species become taller than us.” To this Max only snorted. “Well you’re no King Kong yourself.” “So? Still way taller than you. You are so small. You are lucky I was told not to squish you. Now then I am going to be giving you a medical exam. The results of that exam will tell me how to proceed,” announced the doctor.
For the next several hours the doctor along with his assistants put young Max thru a series of medical examinations as well as some psychological tests. Once it finally ended Max had hoped that hwe test results meant they would take her back home. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The doctor bluntly informed her that she would not be going home and that they were keeping her as a pet. Further, the doctor stated that few could pass this test and that they had been looking all night for an Earth child who could and because she did pass all the tests with flying colors there was no longer any need for them to continue the search. Distraught, Max burst into tears. She did not wish to become a pet. She wanted to go home. The doctor then informed the commander that little Max passed all their tests.
Pleased, the commander had the doctor escort Max to what appeared to be a classroom. Max glared at the doctor as she was sat down in a desk and once again restrained. “What is this?” Max snarled. “Please, I am sure even the likes of you knows a classroom when you see one. Your master wants you to learn our language as well as our ways.” “He is not my master! I don’t belong to anyone!” Max cried defiantly. “Oh but you are and if you continue wanting to be in all pieces I highly suggest showing some gratitude. The boss could have had you killed. Instead, he is telling me he wants to keep you alive.” Max frowned. “Oh, but why me? Why did I have to pass his tests?” The doctor merely shrugged. “I am wondering that myself. But we both lose in a way. You lose your freedom and I get you as a pupil.” Max’s eyes widened. “You mean you’re going to be teaching me?” The doctor smirked. “Well yes unless you know someone else here who knows Earth English?” Max’s eyes blinked at this sudden revelation. “You mean you are the only Euremian that understands me?” The doctor just looked the little girl over. “Language wise yes. But at the moment I do not understand your personality at all. Just what is it that makes you tick?” “I’m really not as bad as all that.” The doctor just looked at the five year old in disbelief. “No? Well, we shall see. We’ll be spending a lot of time together.” “What about the commander?” “Your master’s usually too busy navigating this metal crate, but once you learn our language we shall see…”
Over the course of the next several months Max under the tutelage of Dr. Zax and his assistants slowly began to pick up on some of their clicking sounds and he learned some of their unusual customs and strange holidays. Although, she missed her family terribly Max realized that nobody was going to find her way up there in the middle of space and so she gradually began to accept her new life. Being a pet wasn’t so bad. Sure she couldn’t always go where she wished and do the things she wanted, but her captors treated her well enough she supposed. But perhaps ‘pet’ was not exactly the right term here. Once the Euremians started to trust her they gave her a whole list of chores to do. Yes, they were a pain to accomplish, but at least it meant she could do more than just study with Zax whom she had to admit was starting to grow on her despite the alien’s snarky attitude. But Max supposed he was better than half the jerks on this ship. And whenever he felt really lonely for her family she would pull out her dad’s Walkman that was on her at the time of her abduction and play it. She still had that at least.
At last after several months the pilot landed them on Euremia, a gigantic looking planet with barely any water. Already, Max could tell this would take some getting used to. So much so she was almost afraid to leave the ship. But the commander gave her a reassuring glance as he took Max off the ship. His teacher and the other Euremians not far behind. They were given a welcoming home party and all the Euremians gathered around to get a good look at the ‘strange Earth creature.’ They were shocked and impressed by Max’s linguistic skills.
After the welcoming home party the commander gave Max a tour explaining to her the reasons why they have so little water. According to him, their god long ago became very angry with them and so as punishment he turned their once water plentiful planet into a desert wasteland forcing them to resort to desperate and petty measures such as stealing and smuggling water in from water filled planets such as their peace loving neighbor, Mosiac whom they always seem to be at bad terms with. Further, he explained that all their leaders were taller than everybody else. They do so to ensure that the oppressed species cannot become taller; which to Max made no sense whatsoever. But she didn’t dare question it out of fear of punishment. Instead she just nodded her head.
But Max had no idea of the horrors that awaited her. Commander Zion and his team of scientists wasted no time in brainwashing and experimenting on Max's human DNA. They brought Max to their lab and strapped her to a cold, metal table where they performed horrific and painful experiments. They first poked around in her brain and deleted her memories and then altering them changing them as they saw fit. They deleted her memories of her family, her childhood, and her life on Earth replacing them with fake memories. They made her believe herself to be a pure Euremian and a loyalist to the Euremian government. Further, they made her think herself a 'defective' for not looking like everybody else on Euremia and for not being able to shift and turn invisible as they do. But they weren't done. They wanted to make her even more useful by giving her, her own power set. Initially they tried to give her their race's exact powers, but it didn't work too well. Instead of being able to shapeshift into other organics, the experiments caused her to turn into inanimate objects; which suited them just fine. In addition, the Euremian scientists were able to successfully give Maxine snakelike abilities; which their species also has. Max even grew non-retractable fangs as a result of the experiments. Sadly though all of these 'improvements' came at a price (see weaknesses). Even with Max squirming Zion and his team of scientists poked and prodded the poor girl. It was the worst time of her life. For over a week the scientists experimented on her and already side effects of said experiments began to show most notably the girl’s once brown eyes turned white and her pupils were lost, her once normal human ears became pointy, and along the tips of her fingers scattered many small yet noticeable scars.
At last Zion felt satisfied and believed the experiment was a success. To make sure though he escorted Max to an empty room and ordered her to do whatever came naturally. Following a small smile and wink, Max shifted into a series of objects with ease acting as though she had done this before. The scientists and Zion weren't sure what to think at first since Max was supposed to be able to shift into other organics as they do, but since it was kind of too late they decided to just roll with it. Zion then proceeded to interrogate Max to ensure that the brainwashing was a success. It did not take Zion long to realize that the brainwashing was indeed a success for Max answered every question the very way he wanted her to. All in all Zion was most pleased by the experiments.
The next thing Zion had Max do was to go through intense combat training courses. Basically under these conditions Max had to fight back or risk getting hurt. So for the next several years this became Max's new life: training, studying Euremian customs as well as studying various alien languages, and serving as Commander Zion's own personal bodyguard. Not to mention she also rather happily carried out Zion's dirty work such as putting rebels in their place and stealing water from other planets. The only issue being was the simple fact that Max still looked human save for her unusual pure white eyes and pointed elflike ears often prompting questions from both Max and confused Euremian civilians. In response Max was simply told that she is a defective lookswise and abilitywise. Also during this time, Zion was asked if he thought about selling Max to which he promptly answered, "are you kidding? She's perfect and much too powerful to simply give to anyone else."
When Max turned twelve a special ceremony occurred in her honor to celebrate her twelfth birthday. A special weapon would choose her. One by one Max tried out the weapons presented to her. Following disastrous results, a weapon at long last seemingly chose her and that weapon was none other than a simple looking yet large orange and blue hammer. But the hammer she soon learned was far from ordinary for if Max swung the hammer around fast enough she could use it to fly in a helicopter like pattern. The hammer she later learned also only responded to her DNA as in nobody, but her could properly wield it and like a boomerang it would always come back to her. It also made for a great melee weapon and could turn into a simple cane allowing Max to hide its true form. It is safe to say that Max has much fun clobbering enemies with her unique battle hammer.
All seemed perfect to young Max. But such nice things don't tend to last for long. A mere two years later when Max turned fourteen, she spotted a small group of Euremian rebels. Suspicious and seeking to impress her superiors, she followed them off planet in her Euremian body armor. They led her to a strange planet that she had never been to before and she followed them to what appeared to be a bar. She stopped short and her mouth dropped upon seeing the strange looking device for the first time (a television). It appeared to be some sort of magic box. Forgetting all about the rebels, she sat and watched the strange and wondrous device. The alien television seemed to be picking up television broadcasts from all over the galaxy including Earth's. She stared at the strange looking creatures that then appeared in the magic box whose skin and hair were similar to her own. She wondered what they were and why they resembled her own defective appearance. Were these strange creatures Euremian defectives much like herself or worse was she being lied to and used this whole time? She had to know. Spotting one of the natives drunk at the bar, she asked him about the strange looking creatures on the magic box. Although drunk he is able to answer and tells her of humans. Realizing that she too must be human, but wanting more evidence, Max quickly returns to Euremia to find the evidence she needs.
Utilizing her shapeshifting ability, Max turns into a marble and rolls herself underneath the small crack of the door leading into the Euremian Military's own archives room. She figured if there existed any files containing info on her true origins then it would be found inside. After some poking around, Max discovered an envelope with the name, Mimic written on the outside. Mimic was the nickname given to her by her superiors. To her confusion and disappointment, the envelope was empty. An all too familiar voice coming from behind her caused her to turn around. The voice belonged to none other than her own teacher, Dr. Zax who was arrogantly holding up the envelope's missing contents. Zax mockingly informed Max that he just knew that she'd poke around in the archives sooner or later and that was just one of the many reasons Zion should have equipped her with an obedience collar. Feeling hurt, betrayed, lied to, and used Max lunged at her teacher in an effort to retrieve the envelope's contents. The two fought for awhile with Zax using Max's anger against her. In the end, Zax allowed Max to grab the files and just mocked her some more as she looked them over. Devastated by the truth right before her, Max flees the archive room only to be immediately surrounded by a waiting Euremian army.
After Zax reveals what Max found, Zion orders her to surrender. Refusing to go down without a fight, Max attacks. Badly outnumbered and overpowered, Max was losing and badly. Luckily just before the Euremian military could put the horrific device around her neck, the brave Euremian rebels returned with a small army of their own. With both sides too busy fighting each other, Max badly hurt made her way over to the Euremian ships. Crawling inside one, Max typed in the coordinates for Earth (she found the coordinates under the files she stole) and just like that was on her way back home; to her real home and to her real family that loves her and doesn't use her like a weapon.
Unfortunately, she was not the best pilot and as she neared the Earth’s surface she had a rather rough landing. Thankfully her ‘borrowed’ ship landed in the water where she was easily able to swim out and make it to land. Witnesses gathered around as Max crawled onto land coughing out water. They helped him back to her feet and asked where she came from and that was when Max noticed something was wrong. She could not understand a word they were saying. It took her a moment to realize that her built in translator in her helmet must have become damaged from the crash; which certainly was not a good thing since she could not remember English. Frustrated she took off running.
Luckily a nearby policeman found her wandering about aimlessly and apparently a search had been made for her, so recognizing the kid the cop picked her up and drove her to the Jump City police station. There Max tried to explain that has doesn't understand them and that her translator in her helmet broke during her unforeseen crash. Max was, however, able to draw out what she was trying to say. The police understood and got a tech wiz to fix Max's translator. After it was fixed, Max and the police were finally able to have a real conversation. The police asked Max what happened to her all this time and as calmly as she could, Max did her best to answer though she really did not like telling them this. She really didn't want anybody to know that she had been brainwashed by aliens and then used by them this whole time. It was just so embarrassing! But she admitted all because she honestly could not come up with a better excuse for not being home this whole time. That and she hoped that the police would lead her to her father and brother. To Max's frustration they didn't seem to believe her and rather bluntly informed her that her father and brother were killed by low life criminals. Angry and upset by this awful news, Max did not want to believe them.
After telling them such, Max ran off, tears in her eyes to her father's home. Using the address in her files, Max managed to locate the house only to see the front door and windows boarded up. Wanting in, Max switched her cane to hammer mode. Using her powerful hammer, Max was able to break down the door and enter her father's boarded up house. She looked around for any signs of a struggle and gasped upon seeing it. She saw that furniture had been turned over and thrown about and there was an awful lot of blood strewn around the floor and even bits of blood was splattered on the furniture. Max really did not want to see this, but she did and it was really hard to deny what was now in her face. Seeing really was believing.
Feeling sad and angry, Max stormed off to the neared cemetery where after some searching spotted her father's and older brother's tombstones further evidence of their deaths. Sad and angry, the half Euremian swore to find the ones responsible and make them pay.
She returned home where she sniffed around for the attackers' scent. She sniffed and sniffed. Problem was she couldn't recall what her family smelled like. Plus their scent had by now been mixed with their killers making it practically impossible to distinguish and track. Back to square one, Max had no idea where to find the killers. She had no connections to this strange human city and she had no money. She quickly found that being in a strange place with none of the correct currency was not exactly a good thing. It made life difficult for the half Euremian who was struggling to come to terms that her whole life was a lie and that she had missed out on her childhood. What really hurt her the most was she never even got the chance to tell her father and brother bye and that she loved them. It was one of her biggest regrets in life: allowing herself to be abducted by aliens and brainwashed. If she had only been there then maybe she could have saved her family. Then a thought occurred: why would anybody want to hurt her family anyway? Were they not ordinary?
Desperate for money, Max took up bounty hunting. She would visit the police station, check out their Wanted posters and go seek out the Wanted criminals. She really ended up surprising a lot of people since nobody really saw her as a threat. Initially annoyed, Max ended up using their underestimation of her to her advantage. She would trick them and lure them into a trap before beating them up and capturing them. She would bring them to the surprised yet grateful police for money and so that was how she started making a living. She hopes to make enough so that she can hire someone to help her find her father and brother's killers. But once that happens she wants to be the one to finish them. She only needs help in finding them, she can handle them after that. Max started off as a small time bounty hunter, but after awhile she started to get a certain reputation; which isn't always a good thing. Little does Max know that the Euremian military has put a huge price on her head.
