PERSONALITY
Irkalla is a warrior above all. With a love for battle, she's quick to start a fight, be it for the fun she has while facing tough opponents or because of her short temper. Taught all her life that might makes right, she firmly believes that authority should be gained through power, and those that rule without it are quickly found in the receiving end of the proud warrior’s fury. Because of that, however, her social skills amount to intimidation techniques, and her abilities in anything else are… limited, to say the least. Bred to be a killer and a conqueror, all she’s ever known before reaching Earth were violence and hostility, leaving her with extreme difficulty to trust anyone, unable to make friends and frustrated at those who do. Deep down, she resents the way her father raised her, but would never admit that - there is only one thing in the universe that she fears, and that is Nergal.
Now far from his influence, conflict rises within her. Deep down, she’s not as cruel as she tries to be, and you might even find her helping the weak if she thinks nobody’s watching, as it wouldn’t hurt her reputation of ruthless superiority. Not only that, but she’s deeply impressed with Earth culture: The food, the music, the clothes, the colors, all things she didn’t have in her planet. She has a special fondness for cute things, but ever since finding out humans tended to relate that to frailty or immaturity, she has taken special care not to let that show.
POWERS/SKILLS
- Redundant biology. She has two hearts, a lot more blood than regular humans, and her body was developed so it could keep going irrelevant of damage suffered. Attacks still hurt her, but she can get hurt a lot more than humans without stopping.
- Used to gravity much stronger than Earth’s, she’s faster and stronger than human peak performance, being able to lift up to 20 tons and sprint in short bursts as fast as 200mph. Short bursts being the keyword, as continued use of that speed is very tiring.
- Healing factor. It’s fairly minor, so it doesn’t help during a fight, but barring death, she can recover from virtually anything, even able to regrow lost limbs in due time.
- Skilled warrior, being proficient with a plethora of weapons as well as unarmed combat, being nearly unbeatable in a fair one-on-one fight.
WEAKNESSES
- Hot-headed. It’s incredibly easy to get her mad, simple taunts causing her to lose her cool. Not only that, but angering her enough can cause her to literally pop a blood vessel, which quickly drains her stamina… if you can survive the enraged onslaught.
- ”Earth dumb”. She still gets a bit lost with the language, and some customs elude her. Tricks born of human ingenuity can surprise her.
- No social skills aside from intimidation, and a terrible liar on top of that.
- Even though she can take a lot of damage, it’s still damage, and she can feel pain just like any other human. Which, since she takes a lot longer to go down, means she ends up feeling a lot more pain.
- Somewhat easy to manipulate. Despite her trust issues and although she'd never admit it, she needs affection, and flattery at the very least confuses her for a while.
- She stands out a lot, with the horns and facial tattoos, making it extremely hard to “blend in” when needed.
- Although she’s resistant to external damage, anything that affects the bloodstream is much more efficient on her. Be it alcohol, poison or anything else, smaller doses result in heightened effects.
- She has to eat a lot to maintain her energies. And I mean, A LOT.
- Has to pay rent. That’s a weakness, right?
HISTORY
Irkalla is a survivor. Born in Nekan, a distant planet destroyed by endless war, she was one of ten children that were product of genetic mixing in a laboratory in order to create the optimal soldier, trained and taught towards that goal ever since they could walk. Their father, a mighty general with nearly unrivaled power, observed from a distance as they went through their 10 trial years, evaluating each one in order to decide who would earn the right to travel by his side, visiting planets as his actual child and waging new wars in the name of their people. The others would have less glorious fates, being rejected and left to fight lesser wars, the family name stripped away. It was in this atmosphere of competition that she spent her formative years, every single one of the kids constantly looking for ways to sabotage the others and come out on top.
Which makes it all the more impressive that she managed to find a friend amidst that tension. His name was Kpa’ylik, and although he was the smallest of the bunch, and not in any way the strongest, he made up for it with his quick wit and incredible smarts. It started out small, with simple exchanges of favors: she’d help him with some tasks that needed strength, and in return he’d help her when she needed the extra brain. Then at some point he started making small talk, and soon enough they started spending their free time together. Before too long, the young lady already considered the boy a friend, and all evidence pointed to the opposite also being true: while it was true that Kpa’s charisma (or, perhaps, the fact no one saw him as a serious threat) landed him in the good graces of all his siblings, it was clear he enjoyed spending time with Vlo’ylik the most, often going out of his way to do so.
It all changed when the father gathered the children to make a statement: the trial years were ending soon, and the weakest children would be sent off one by one: some would be doomed to fight in the planet’s never-ending civil war, and others would be sent to distant lands, to bolster the numbers in losing battles. The last one remaining would become his child, with all the glory it accompanied. He then ended the announcement stating Irkalla was his definite favorite at that point, urging the others to improve and knowingly creating a rift between them and her.
Shortly after the meeting, as Vlo talked to her only friend, he waited for her to turn her back and attacked her with a dagger. She noticed and reacted in time to avoid a killing blow, but her left eye was still struck. Realizing that a traitor he was and a traitor he had always planned to be, she was overcome with rage and, after a brutal battle, she came out the victor. Her healing capabilities not yet fully developed, the scar over her eye remained as the eternal reminder that, the first and only time she ever called someone a friend, he betrayed her… and she killed him.
She naturally earned her surname, Kob’ro, which marked her as the daughter of her father. Another girl was also chosen like her, not of a group of ten, but thousands, and together they roamed the galaxy, spreading terror and going through a training routine that made all the years until them seem like a walk in the park. Until the time came for her last test. She was to be sent alone to a distant planet and, in the span of one Nekan year, completely dominate it. The chosen planet was Earth, a small watery globe home to a particularly weak race. The travel there was spent studying the land’s language and culture, but when she landed, she found a surprising world: First, while earthlings in general were weak, there were a few exceptional inhabitants that could prove to be trouble, known as superheroes and supervillains. Aside from that… the planet was amazing. The food, the music, the colors, the clothes. More than that, she started having visions when she slept, strange images of fantastic lands and strange events, that she learned were a common occurrence, called “dreams” by the locals. Despite those wonders, however, there was one thing she knew: one day, her father would arrive, and if she didn’t rule the planet by then, her fate would be worse than she could ever imagine.
