PERSONALITY
+ Intelligent
To first speak to Oculst, his manner of speech and thought processes are incredibly well thought out, as a direct result of all the time he spends alone. He has a lot of information stored in the head of his, and brimming at the surface and usually he can recall it fairly easily. This is due to his dedication to reading and learning, considering knowledge for the sake of knowledge an incredible feat. Of course his memory can fault him sometimes, but through his own diligence, he can keep most of it accurate.
+ Diligent
If Oculst is going to do something, he's going to do it right and he's going to be prepared. His thoughts are very detail oriented and he generally keeps out of situations until he knows exactly what he's going to do and has at least three failsafes behind him. Regardless of what knowledge needs accrued, Oculst can be counted on to retrieve it and thoroughly examine in.
+ Organized
Oculst usually has everything in its proper place, at all times and it makes it quick work for him to find what he needs generally. Of course things can still be misplaced, but the fact is, he is usually able to find out exactly what is needed and be useful.
+ Observant
Any little detail that may be off or particular, Oculst is going to hone in on and take notice of it. Whether or not he actually deems it important is not always the case, but he will find even the smallest things and perhaps categorize it for later.
+ Patient
This boy will wait days, weeks even months to reap whatever outcome he is going for, and if something requires much time, Oculst will not expedite the process. Because all else comes second to his goals, and his extended lifespan, Oculst finds time is no challenge to him, and it can be beneficial to just take it slow.
+/- Determined
Oculst sets a goal and follows it, at any cost. If he wants to get into a space program on Earth or steal jewels from a secure location, he'll stop at nothing to achieve it. This trait has provided him with great fortune and kept him grounded but has also caused him great pains and he winds up suffering more in the long run than had he given up when failure had already happened.
+/- Devotion
As with his other traits, Oculst is found to be devoted to his causes and his values, to an almost unbreakable degree. His Empire, his responsibilities and his convictions are second to nothing in his mind. On the contrary, this can also mean that he can be taken advantage of, both by those whom he deems superior and those who convince him that they can assist him in reaching his goals.
- Haughty
Due to the nature of his upbringing as well as his general views on humans and others, Oculst considers himself above most and outright refuses to get in conflicts he deems himself above, making him at the very least an anti-hero. This makes him less than desirable as a friend or partner and isolates him, and even if he DOES make a friend, he's very likely to make backhanded comments at them.
- Arrogant
In addition to being haughty, Oculst has arrogance off the charts. He believes he can handle everything all by himself and flat out doesn't factor in that his opponents may be stronger, smarter, wiser or just more capable than himself. He will boast his positive traits and flat out neglects to see his weaknesses and this can easily lead to defeat or failure on his part.
- Cynicism
Oculst trusts few and lends his skills to even fewer and as such he comes to find he also doesn't have many companions to assist him in his endeavors either. It's an understandable trait given his history but it's also a crippling weakness and it definitely also serves to further isolate him. Strangely enough however, he can be persuaded if one puts in the right time and evidence that they can further his goal.
- Stubborn
If Oculst deems a certain solution or thought process as correct, it can take many failures and contrary evidence to shake him from it. Combining this with his need to be correct in all instances and you have someone who is very much set in his ways and unable to be moved, even when the greatest path is literally right in front of him.
- Overworked
Because of his diligence and devotion to his causes and goals, Oculst will often pour more of himself than he has into any task he deems important and it's through this that he causes himself the most weakness, as he directly harms his own plans and powers, by working until he is literally forced to rest.
POWERS/SKILLS
+ Doom Perception
Being a Dark Seer, Oculst is able to see certain events, specifically negative ones, such as death, wounds or other negative fates. However, being very young as well as inexperienced, he can only peer into an untrained, brief (2-5 second) window of time. This means it is not useful in combat or prevention, for those reasons as well as the fact that anything he sees cannot be prevented by him or those he tells. If he wants an event to not occur, he must stay silent and hope no one intervenes.
EX. he sees a villain destroying the city, and he tells a teen titan, they cannot stop it because he told them what he saw.
Additionally, when he views a vision, his third eye (the middle red one) opens and he cannot have his regular eyes open. A quick enough opponent can get a hit in within the seconds his eyes are shut and he cannot defend himself.
These visions also somewhat overload his body and Always cause him pain.
+ Marksman
Oculst has trained with the bow for a long time, long enough in fact that he has become an expert at it, being able to hit things from extended distances and with ease. However as it's a bow and standard arrow, he cannot destroy anything that's strong enough to defend from a simple arrow (i.e armor, or barriers).
+ Underwater Breathing
The fins and gills aren't just for show, they actually help Oculst breath under the sea (regular lungs help with the on land). This means you cannot drown him and it also means he's at a severe advantage if he takes the fight underwater (unless someone else can breathe too)
+ Slightly Enhanced Strength
He's not winning any strongman competitions, but his punches may have a little extra "oomph" to a human. Useful for in a pinch fights, and not much else.
+ STEALTH
His job and his weaknesses mean that he has a lot easier time hiding out and only attacking if he's sure he can make his arrow undetectable when he shoots it. If someone's good at detection, however, he's out of luck.
+ Siren Charm
As with all sirens, he also is able to speak in a watery language that can charm others into doing what he wants. This would depend on the mental fortitude as well as Oculst's general convictions and otherwise when attempting to charm an individual. Generally because of his own distaste of it, Oculst is much more likely not to use it but its there if he needs it.
+ Chemical Knowledge
Although known back on his planet as potion brewing, Oculst has a fairly strong chemical background that may allow him to brew certain things with varying effects, such as healing potions, or toxins.
+Finsense
His fins can sense thing around him like a sonic radar. It's pretty useful for detection in rooms but in a city, on the street, he can wind up confused
WEAKNESSES
- Rolled a 5 in Stamina
While it's true that Oculst can be quick and a decent hitter when he needs to be, his body isn't made to fight for extended periods of time and someone who's able to dodge his arrows as well as keep him in extended combat is eventually going to have the edge in a fight against him.
- Flight than Fight
While he CAN do battle, Oculst would much rather flee the scene than engage. If he's going to try and steal something and meets any resistance, or multiple enemies at once, rather than continue he'll likely go unless it's a direct order from someone he considers a superior (which isn't be many).
- Self-Absorbed
Exactly what it says on the tin. He is not at all concerned with things that are not his interests and goals and it leaves him a very unpredictable man.
- Larger? No thanks.
From his past, Oculst has developed an almost crippling fear of sentient things being larger than himself. If around someone larger than him, Oculst becomes a lot more scattered and fearful and it can affect his decision making. He's also likely to try to stay as far away as possible. He's also pretty uneasy about the color blue.
- I can do it all! Or not.
Because of his status and general demeanor, Oculst believes that he can do everything and anything on his own, that his opinion is the most logical and sound course of action. He does not take into account that other's may be smarter, wiser, more prepared or stronger than him, and it can absolutely lead to his downfall.
HISTORY
The planet of Caeruleus is an ancient, imperial planet far off from Earth's atmosphere and it's where Oculst sprung forth from an egg and began his life. Whist being raised, Oculst was favored by his parents for being the smarter more disciplined one, as he took to reading, writing and general knowledge much quicker than his elder brother, and had a disposition fitting of one of his family. Many of his predecessors were, in fact, respected political and through their wealth and status.
Whilst Corneu preferred the stereotypical party lifestyle, and pulled many a prank in his youth, Oculst spent his time trying to better himself, to live up to some sort of expectation that his elder failed, and it caused his parents to be unconsciously tougher on him as a result. Every accomplishment he achieved was met with a casual "good job" and a question of what the next would be, and when he would get started. This, of course, soon led to Oculst setting too high expectations of himself, surpassing even what his family deemed healthy, but he held himself in high regard anyway and pushed further.
When he was about 13 years old, this came to a head as settlement was forming a bit farther north from his family and it was said that indigo colored orcs, giant brutes also native to the planet, were causing disarray and mayhem and they had to be stopped. Oculst, being a siren, an aquatic species of this planet, being both respected and feared by others, determined this to be his chance to prove his leadership, just one step into getting to the Naval Fleet, an inter-dimensional group that helps conquer foreign plants all to serve the Empress. Oculst himself had been admiring the fleet for years by this point and it was without question that he would take this chance.
The village was far worst than he could imagine, with the brutish orcs being double or sometimes triple his size, causing a lot of damage to his body and mind when he tried to reason with them with words. So he commissioned a bow, having slight practice at archery, and when he received it, he was able to keep the others at bay, by hiding in treetops, behind large rocks, in the ocean, wherever he could get cover and shooting them until they were no more. Despite not wanting to, he was dwindling their population to survive himself.
Years of this troubling job passed and eventually, on his 18th birthday he was informed in a letter signed by the Empress that he was accepted to the Cerulean Naval Fleet. Without hesitation, he packed his bags and traveled to the base where he trained relentlessly and learned even more effective techniques to disarm opponents, though his main missions were stealth-based, as he used his knowledge of hiding out to both gather information and eliminate targets without anyone noticing, unless they were more skilled than he.
He had the job of his dreams. And then an eye opened in the center of his forehead and all he saw were his parents passing away, being attacked by the brutes who terrorized for many years. At first he did not believe it, however his skepticism was quickly proven wrong. This nearly destroyed him but he suppressed all of his grief and guilt and continued to train, rising up in the ranks rather quickly, thanks to his background already.
It was soon that he received another letter, this one telling him about the latest mission. After many many years, Caeruleus was finally setting it sight on its prized conquest, Earth. Oculst was being sent with a few others to scout ahead and disarm what they could on their own. So they set off.
The ship was faulty, he should have known that but his excitement to be part of such an important ordeal overpowered logic in his mind and he flew towards the Earth. Needless to say, the ship crashed, although fortunately it was close enough to earth that Oculst and his crew survived, albeit separated.
When he woke from the rubble the first thing he saw was a sign.
