Well south of the main beach, something that could be best described as a force of nature breaking loose was happening. Or rather, someone was happening.
"GRAAAAAH!" The enraged cry of the tall half-demon once again pierced the quiet of the air.
The taller male had for the past thirty minutes been venting his anger and frustration, however he was not holding his powers back either. The landscape surrounding him looking like a maelstrom made of steel had come down on this small area. Huge swaths of earth and sand just cut out of the ground. With another angry shout a large tendril of yellow energy shot from the mans arm as he swung downwards with his arm, cutting another gouge into the landscape.
He had been a fool, a trusting and stupid fool. He had met with such a friendly woman, a woman who helped him and offered him work. And even though it hadn't been the most legal of propositions he had taken it, he had needed the income and with the woman's demeanor that she had presented to him he had hoped to maybe make a friend. The girls employer however had other plans for him, he had barely overheard the man plotting to simply use him like a pawn. He hated being used. Another frustrated cry as more damage was done to the land in an attempt to calm himself. He had left, wondering if the woman too had planned to simply use him like a tool and discard him once he had filled his role. And now here he was, taking his frustrations out on the very earth he controlled.
Half demons rampaging seemed to be a regular event since the fire-wielder had moved and taken permanent residence in Jump City, much to the city's dismay. At least this time, it was on the beach, far enough away that it wouldn't cause immediate damage to her home. However, she still had given herself the task to stop this towering beast before her home wound up in threat of his powerful rage.
She underestimated her inexperience, being in a rage and stopping one was very different. Should she yell, scream at the monster to stop? Or how about using her own powers to stop or at least deter him before the city became his target? Comforting words were never her forte anyway.
"Hey!" She shouted, fireball ready in her hand, "I don't know what your problem is but you're threatening my home. So now, I have to destroy you!" The fireball shot in an arc upwards toward the giant. If that could subdue him, then she'd figure out what to do next. If not, well then she'd hit him with stronger blasts until she could subdue him. This was probably a horrible plan, she knew that.
The earth was being controlled by him. For a moment, her memories returned to conversations about Terra, the girl Beast Boy had loved. The girl who had held her position previously. Was this a relation? Was this Geo-Force? He certainly didn't look like the pictures of Terra, the blond haired blue eyed rock shaker. No, he had silver hair and yellow eyes, kind of like Narret, who Sapphire had grown fond of. Maybe she'd show mercy.
Or maybe he'd kill her! She shot another fireball seconds after the first, hoping and praying one would hit and knock this man, this beast, down. It was worth a shot at the very least. Besides, she couldn't afford to drag this out with words that he'd probably never hear anyway. High tide would come soon enough and Sapphire couldn't even think about what would happen if she stayed here for that.

The giants attention was drawn from his venting by the shout of Sapphire. He turned just in time for the fire cat to throw the first ball of flames, The taller man jumped out of the way of the first one while a slab of rock jutted from the ground to stop the second. The flames of the fireballs licking at both impact points for a second before they went out, with nothing to supply them any fuel. 'IDIOT!' He berated himself, he had been so wrapped up in his fury he hadn't even smelled her coming. And now he had to deal with someone thinking he was a rampaging monster, then again he had yet to supply any evidence to the contrary.
A mildly angry glare shot from the mans amber eyes at the other half-demon. "Can't a guy vent in peace?!" He shouted back at Sapphire, both his arms becoming awash with a yellow glow of the energy he had been throwing around earlier. "And so now someones here to put me down huh?" The ground shook as two massive hands attached to arms grew from the sandy beach, each digit of the hands just as large as Sapphire. "Well come on then! I could use a good fight to get it out of my system!"

Her fire missed! She missed! Of course she did, what was she expecting to do to a man of this size, a man who could probably suffocate her flames with his earth powers? As he fired off two mocking questions, hands made entirely of sand appeared right in front of her, casting a dark, cold shadow on her, making the firecat shiver.
"You can vent where ever you want when it doesn't threaten people! And it's my job to put you down!" Sapphire shouted with as much anger as he showed her, perhaps even more. This was the temper tantrum of the century. This could be the battle of the ages. This could level the entire planet. Sapphire had to be careful, she knew that much. But calming herself in the heat of battle could be easier said than done.
Another fireball shot at the hands, hoping to defuse them quickly before things got out of hand.
The half giant's left eye twitched when Sapphire voice why she had come to take him down. That had been why he had come to this isolated section along the coast, ensuring both that no one would be here and that no one would come. "Let me get this strait..... Your trying to put me down, to make sure that people don't get hurt...." The fireball impacted one of the sand-hands, causing it to fall apart. "When there is absolutely NO ONE BUT US HERE?!" A growl escaped his lips as both he, and the giant sand-hand made the same gesture.
A rather rude gesture that only needed one finger raised skyward.
The half demon surged forwards, his eyes locked on Sapphire as his sand-hand suddenly grew a...
Giant spray bottle made of sand?
"Bad Kitty!" He shouted with a half-smirk, the sand-hand pulling the trigger on the bottle, but instead of water it was a massive spray of small sand chunks firing rapidly at Sapphire.
"That isn't the point! You're close enough to the city where people can see you, and you're scaring some of them, move elsewhere!" Sapphire said, her attitude appearing in her words. And then he chose to give her the one hand salute, with his real hand and the surviving sand hand, no less.
"You choose to disrespect me?!" Sapphire returned with a growl before being sprayed with sand and backing up in defense. She was angry now, she was infuriated. Now this half demon would understand why he should have left peacefully. Her eyes opened wide and glowed a bright orange and flames began to surround her.
"I asked you to leave peacefully! You refuse to comply?!" Her voice took a demonic tone to it. "I will destroy you!" She screamed as multiple flames rained down on the beach. Anyone vacationing there would certainly pack their bags and leave now. "You jerk! You freaking jerk!" Sapphire was less crude since joining the Titans. "I'm not just a bad kitty! I am a lady! You will treat me as such!" Her body ascended as she spoke until she was a flaming beacon of sorts. Everyone would see the confrontation going on. Everyone would believe she was the monster and not him.
The half demon below glared upwards at the beacon that Sapphire had become, his eyes flashing yellow then black. Both of his hands rose skyward, awash with a glowing energy that seemed to move like an angry inferno. The sand-hand dissolved as geysers of sand shot from below to meet the meteor swarm of fire head on in equal force. Each geyser falling back down to earth as it's fireball equal was matched. He needed to knock her out of the sky, or knock some sense into her fast. Yeah he had scared a few people, but no one had gotten hurt. And now with her throwing fire around, the chances of cross-fire injury were going up as said fire grew in intensity. "I don't see a lady.... I see an equal...." His eyes glowed with intensity as he spoke.
His entire being began to glow with the same flame-like energy as a human-like figure burst from the sand. It quickly shifted in form and shape, taking on a feminine look. In less then a few seconds, there stood a perfect copy of the fire cat, although colorless and made of sand. Then the copy changed, fingers ending in claws, eyes holding only fury, and teeth sharpening into fangs. "But you lack a reflection..... Lets see how you handle one...." He muttered to himself as the more demonic copy of Sapphire lept towards the real one, mouth open in a silent scream of rage as claws came forth to strike at her.
Sapphire felt her anger swell to new heights as her fireballs were evenly matched by geysers of sand. She wanted to fly over to him and punch him in the face, but thought better of that thought. She'd have to use her smaller size and speed to contend with him.
At least he saw her as an equal. She'd let one of her hits go easy on him in return for that. But first she had to quash the sand version of herself. This made her evenly matched, or at a disadvantage if the demon decided to use the sand to suffocate her flames.
No weakness... "Is this the best you can do? Fighting me with myself?" She barely dodged the clone's attempt to slash her and fired more of her fireballs at the taller man and at the clone. "Why not rely on your own strength instead of making this abomination fight for you?!"
The half demon felt his inner demons rise, but only for a moment as he steeled his resolve to not let them loose upon the fiery brunette. "Why do I fight with a reflection instead of my own strength..... Why you ask?" He said, as suddenly his body became an inferno of golden light, shining just as brightly as Sapphire had when she had unleashed her barrage of fire earlier. Tendrils of sand shot from the ground towards Sapphire.
But not the real one.
The tendrils quickly latched onto the sand Sapphire, the silica golem looking about in confusion and fury at being entangled as it thrashed about to free itself. "Rage, pain, confusion, chaos, and will..... These things fuel the inferno that are my power and my demons....." The tendrils continued to entangle the sand Sapphire further, wrapping around it's torso as it tried to tear it's way free of the tendrils. "I fight with something you don't have, because if I were to use my own strength..... To give my darkness even a chance at doing harm....." The tendrils had now nearly completely entangled the sand clone, panic and betrayal played across it's eyes as it was finally consumed completely. "... I might kill you." And then suddenly the tendrils of sand clenched down on the sand clone within, the lump halving in size as a few jets of sand shot from the gaps. The silica falling to the ground almost like blood, before the entire display simply dissolved back to the ground. "That's why I am here, that's why I scared everyone off, and that's why I'm taking out my rage and pain on something I can fix! So I don't hurt anyone!"
Sapph was shielding her eyes at the golden inferno that responded to her question. Ducking out of the way of the sand that was slowly consuming the reflection of herself and was scaring her (though she'd never admit it.) At the end of his speech though, he didn't kill her. He spoke as though he didn't want to. Maybe she could help him yet. Just a year ago, hadn't she believed the same thing about herself? The Teen Titans had shown her kindness, gave her a home and taught her that she could be a hero and could have friends.
Maybe she could do the same for the rampaging half-demon.... Maybe...
"It doesn't have to be this way though. You don't have to scare people and attack the Earth to feel better. I know how you feel, believe me. But you can fix things. I did." Was she softening herself? Did she actually care about the stranger she had met only minutes earlier? Either way, she'd keep him from going at the same rate she did.
The burning tempest of golden light died down around the half-demon as the living flame spoke her words. While her words were true, the half-demon doubted that the fiery brunette had done the same scale of damage he had done. Thinking back, to when it all started. How many did he snuff out without meaning too? And how many more would he take from the world if he could not keep his beasts at bay. The larger man slowly paced closer to Sapphire, his golden eyes locked with her own as he spoke.
"I do not have too..... But it is a precaution I take to be sure." The giant took a deep breath, attempting to calm himself further before he continued to speak. "I apologize for my earlier actions..... I sometimes lose control of myself in the heat of the moment...." Speaking of the spray bottle, and the brutal murder of the sand clone. "Maybe.... Maybe you can help me...." His voice wavering slightly as the conviction he displayed earlier faltered "I've been on my own for so long.... Guess I forgot how to ask for help" He murmured under his breath, thinking to not be speaking that part at all
Maybe the ball of fire could help him. He admitted to having a problem (which was the first step in solving one) and seemed almost unsure of himself. Wasn't she the same way when she had first met the Titans? It seemed so long ago, almost a year, that she were in the demon's situation; always in a rage, no friends to speak of, destructive to the point of harming innocent people.
. . .
Sure, she could dwell on how similar she was to the ferocious beast but that wasn't helping either one of them fix their problems. She had to remember how exactly the Titans broke through her hard shell, surrounded by fire, and found a deep rooted fear of being alone and a desire to save the world from villains (and then rectifying these but they were still working on that part.)
"In order for me to know if I can help you, I must first ask you this; are you choosing to save the world or simply live in peace with it?" The answer would determine if she brought him to Titans Tower to present to her fellow Titans (especially the kinder ones like Ink) or just gave him some quick lessons in meditation and maybe a cheap book to read. "I can forgive you, for I know what it is like to lose control."
Please believe me when I say you are not alone. Right, he's just as pathetic as you, isn't he?
With all of the things he had done, all of the things he had let happen, all the people that his demons had taken. He'd be lucky if the world let him exist let alone live in peace with it. He pondered for a moment, that if the fiery woman before him knew of his past transgressions both purposeful and accidental...
Would she be offering him her help? Or would she try and end him like most have in the past.
"I..... I don't think I could be a savior even if I wanted too. I'm having a hard time finding a place in the world that doesn't lead to confrontation, let alone actually trying to help. Simply getting along is what I want.... But if I could help.... And maybe undo the wrongs that i've done...." He trailed off, lost in thought for a moment before shaking his head slightly, eyes locking on the firecracker. "If you think I could be like you, and actually help people. I'm all for it..." 'I'm tired of having to run, having to hide, of being used.... Tired of having to make deals with darker people to simply get by....' He thought to himself, taking a calming breath to sooth the storm of thoughts within him.
Sapphire was almost happy that she could send another in the right direction and give someone what the Titans had given her. In time, she'd bring the half-demon to the Titans and let them also give to him. It was worth a shot at the very least, even if she failed miserably, she could at least say she tried, right?
She didn't want to say too much on the subject, but she knew it would help for the half-demon to have someone to relate to. "My name is Sapphire, by the way. I have done horrible things and I was able to reform. I am a Teen Titan. You have heard of them, right?"
Maybe her destruction wasn't as bad as his, maybe it was worse, she didn't have a clue on that. But she was the embodiment of the Titans ability at reformation. "It's not going to be easy." She added, hoping the demon knew what he was getting himself into.
"I'm Deus....." 'And if you knew what I have done, what I was capable of doing.... You'd be trying to kill me....' He was pretty sure that the girl was speaking the truth, but unless she had ruined whole towns.
Then they could relate maybe.
"I've.... Heard of them...." More like trying to avoid them. With their resources, if judging by the GIANT AND OBVIOUS "T" SHAPED TOWER then they would have no trouble looking up his track record as 'The Demon of Earth' as the news spun it. "And it's never easy.... But it's why we try right?" It was the reason he kept going, thinking he could one day do better, be better. "Listen Sapphire..... Thanks for the help.... As I said been on my own so long I.... Kinda forgot how to just simply be around people..."

The roleplay takes place after the series end of the original Teen Titans animated show, but does not include the movie Trouble in Tokyo. Since then Robin has been on something of a recruiting spree, and many new young heroes have found themselves a home in Jump City as well as Titan Tower.
