SPEEDY
Roy William Harper Jr.
Alias:
Speedy
Age:
18
Affiliation:
Titan
Family:
Roy Harper, Sr. - Father, deceased. Mother unknown.
Brave Bow - Adoptive father, deceased.
Oliver "Ollie" Queen/Green Arrow - Adoptive father.
Faceclaim:
Speedy from Teen Titans
PERSONALITY:
Speedy is always ready to just plain hang out, hold an impromptu dance party, or party in general, and work and play often get blurred. On missions, one might very well forget they’re really at work if in his squad. Roy Harper is a major flirt, and old habits die hard. You get him talking to a female villain even and you’ve basically lost the team’s archer for the time being. Coupled with his extreme narcissism, the extremely vain big-mouth can come across as charming one minute while focused on the lovely party in front of him, and a complete jerk the next when his focus shifts back to extolling his self-proclaimed good points. Upon first meeting, he'll either be charming to a fault, or a grade-A jerk mouthing off the first chance he gets, but get to know him a little better and there /is/ a sweetheart underneath all that pretentious swagger. Although he’s usually completely obsessed with himself, he’s also a keen observer. When he’s paying extra special attention, Roy will only go over the top about himself to get a friend’s mind off of their own problems. The goofier he comes across, the more concerned he is for a friend’s well-being. It’s a joy of Harper’s to keep his friends smiling, so even though he likes to talk a big game, he’ll humble himself to the point of looking like an idiot on purpose if it means lifting spirits.
POWERS/SKILLS
GADGETS
[o] Utility Belt (mostly snacks and candies in here because he relies heavily on archery for combat, but there are a couple of useful items)
> Swiss Army knife
> Mini-telescope
> Collapsible hand-cuffs (1 pair)
[o] Mini-Crossbow (2): Speedy has engineered mini-crossbow apparatus. Each wrist can hold two shots, either tranquilizer or taser-darts. Either dart type holds enough force to knock out a normal adult due to voltage/medicine. Only wears these when out jogging, masked or not, in case of an emergency, since he would be out of his supersuit and normal gear.
[o] Modified Bow
[o] Trick Arrows; most famously: Punching Glove, Heat-Seeking, Explosive, Grappling & Sleeping Gas.
- Can carry up to 50 arrows in his quiver (and Kenni will play him accurately down to last shot; none of this Eternal Fountain nonsense; feel free to check her math in RPs c; ).
-Speedy carries at least 5 and up to 10 of the same Arrow type per fresh quiver.
-All arrows can be destroyed before impact if his opponent is fast enough to shoot at them; their effects will then of course not affect Speedy's target. P:
-Can re-use Grappling Arrows up to three times/slides, as long as he's able to recover the entire unit and no one else has used it as transportation.
- All element-based Arrows have a turnstile at the back of each shaft that changes the type of arrow it is; if he realizes mid-mission that more Explosives are needed, he could switch his Stun or Sleeping Gas supply into solely Explosives.
- Full list of Arrows (new inventions shall be added as used in threads):
> Normal (blunt-tipped; strong enough to hold someone up to 180lbs.; in this way can shot into walls and climbed like stairs/monkeybars; if shot from close enough, can kill a normal human being i.e. at the temple/chest)
> Punching Glove (glove expands upon impact)
> Heat-Seeking (explode upon reaching heat-emitting target and never before)
> Explosive (explode upon impact)
> Grappling (each contains a length of highly tensile wire; the back half is attached to a nearby surface, the front half is then shot to an opposing surface in the distance, and he slides across using his bow as an impromptu hang-glider; can carry one person in one arm and one on his back if necessary. Bow has hollow-core that can serve as a loading-dock for shooting up to three front-halves of a Grappling Arrow at a time--the trigger can be found as a button on the bottom of his bow; this allows him continuous successive swings should a getaway be in order, or a longer distance need to be traveled).
> Sleeping Gas (releases upon impact; covers area of 10ft before wind-carriage over greater distances; weakens as it's dispersed over a larger area, and can put a normal human being to sleep for an hour)
> Stun (flying taser; electrically stuns upon impact)
> UmbrellArrow (what it sounds like...an umbrella, in an arrow. Does not need to be shot to use. xD Can extend up to 6 feet for use as Beach UmbrellArrow)
> Sonic (With a painful sonic screech effect, this arrowtype has nomat on Black Canary's skills, but it can blare up to 120dB (threshold of pain) for five seconds, enough to cause mundanes to blackout, or supers to be at least stunned. Depending on one's distance to the charge, with right next to it being black-out worthy closeness, 50metres away being head-ache inductive, and 100metres (12 a neighbourhood block) away being an irritating tickle in one's ear, it's a handy tool in his arsenal.)
> Smoke (releases upon impact; covers area of 10ft. before wind-carriage over greater distances; weakens as it's dispersed over a larger area, sets up smoke-screen for 15 seconds; best for getaways and initial confusion tactics)
> Heat ( Explodes upon impact, or set on a timer. Alternatively, can be used itself offensively or creatively because ranges from able to burn hot enough to melthrough industrial metals, down to barely warm up to the level of a dying ember.)
> Ice (Like Robin's freeze discs. Explodes upon impact, or set on a timer. Alternatively, can be used itself offensively or creatively because ranges from able to induce frostbite, down to chilling like an ice-cube on someone's skin. )
STRENGTHS
Dashing good looks, charisma, charm, grace..oh we were talking superpowers? He knows; he’s too good to be truly human, but that's all Roy is. Like his buddy the Boy Wonder, what he lacks in superpowers he makes up for in quick-witted decisions in the midst of battle, such as whether to use a certain Trick Arrow, or even an unconventional or surprising physical take-down manoeuvre to throw his quarry off-guard. Proficiency in several martial arts forms helps that way.

[+] Hand-to-Hand Combatant: Mastery in Moo Gi Gong, Judo, Kickboxing, Karate
[+] Peak Human Athlete

WEAKNESSES
[-] All The Ladies ( C; )
[-] His big mouth
[-] Hopelessly vain
[-] Reluctance to fight with his hands/arms leads to a reliance on kickboxing alone; his take-down manoeuvres in other mastered fighting styles are severely limited the more worried he is about hurting his hands
[-] Is only human
HISTORY
Born to a forest ranger father and never knowing his mother, Roy was raised in early infancy alone by Roy Harper Sr. until his father’s death in attempts to save some members of a Navajo Native preservation from a dangerous forest fire. In gratitude for Roy Sr.’s bravery, the Tachini tribe’s shaman Brave Bow took Harper in as his adopted son within the tribe, and the boy was taught in traditional Navajo education and survival skills. Among his skill set was an extraordinary aptitude for archery, which Brave Bow helped nurture in the young Harper. The youth found favour in his idol Green Arrow’s eyes when Harper helped Arrow take down a robber, drawing his bow quickly and faster than Arrow, prompting Green Arrow to comment on how Roy had been ‘speedier’ than he. Thus, his secret identity was born, and Arrow became another adoptive father, taking Harper as his ward and sidekick, Speedy. When he had finally attained proficiency in archery to Arrow’s satisfaction to be able to take on the title of Speedy, Brave Bow passed away, and Arrow became the only father figure in Harper’s life.
Perhaps due to his training with the Arrow, Harper had met, befriended and trained with the Bat-prodigy Robin as a younger child, along with the young Barbara Gordon who would become Batgirl. Speedy joined the early Teen Titans with Robin, Kid Flash, Aqualad (Garth Brooks) and Wondergirl. He became teen sweethearts with Wondergirl but eventually averaging out as close friends in the end. However, due to the throwing together of his break-up with Wondergirl, the break-up as well of the Teen Titans, and the absence of his mentor and adoptive father Green Arrow for reasons of financial difficulty, Harper, dejected and lonely and feeling no purpose in his life, took up heroin and became an addict. Instead of support Roy on a path to recovery upon his return, Arrow punched his sidekick out and left him homeless, until Arrow's girlfriend Black Canary took Roy in and helped him kick the habit. Ever since, Harper has had an extreme non-tolerance policy for any drug-related shenanigans, to the point where he's been enlisted in a government organization as part of the CBI to crack down on drug cartels, in between counselling other teens with drug-related issues.
His relationship with Arrow never really returned to normal after their falling out, but he's been known to do his 'old man' a favour once in a while for old time's sake. Their relationship, in time, may heal yet.
Roy doesn't like discussing his past much now that he's with Titans East, and even less with his non-core team here at Titans Main. These days, on the cusp of exiting his teenage years, he tries to keep a cheerful, free outlook on life, flirt with as many ladies as possible, and fight crime while finding his way with his new team step by step.
