PERSONALITY
What's the image that comes to mind with an alias like Starfire--bright and firey? Her smile could light up a room and her temper could melt steel beams. She is arguably the most passionate member of the Titans. Her love and zest for life are apparent by her spontaneous nature. When something new and exciting crosses her path she wants to engage and understand; which, as an alien, is more often than not. When insecurity over being seen as 'dumb' does not get in the way, the Tamaranean can be heard openly gushing about her newest discoveries with 'Earth culture'.
She may be unfamiliar with her surrounding culture, but don't mistake her for naive, innocent, or dare not stupid. Starfire has the wisdom, strength, and understanding to have insight into many difficult topics from discrimination to complicated inner feelings. Starfire has her own opinions when it comes to inequalities and is a fierce defender of the rights and freedoms of any individual. She can be warm and compassionate toward others, respecting differences or trying to with all the best of intentions. When it comes to those who would oppress and hurt others for their own gain, her feelings get complicated. She tries to make peace with even those that would hurt her, such as Val Yor who discriminated against her or her sister who tried to frame her. To those that would hurt her friends, she can be less forgiving, and there is still part of her that accepts violence ("righteous fury") as a proper response.
She has a knowledge of the universe beyond average human understanding. She can point to the sky and tell stories of many planets that some call 'home'. Her analogies, for this reason, can sometimes seem a little 'out of this world'. Sometimes she struggles with communication issues, feeling lost when idioms are dropped, sounding awkward in her speech. It's best not to mock or ridicule her, as Starfire won't appreciate the jokes. The crown princess of Tamaran has a degree of pride. At best she'll snap angrily and it will be done with a tongue lashing. Worse, as both Beast Boy and Robin have experienced, is when she deigns to stubbornly ignore them until apologies are in order.
POWERS/SKILLS
Aerial Agility - Starfire is very adept at navigating through the air, and is able to dodge and counter attacks in the sky with great proficiency.
Scope - Starfire can see well from distances high in the air, and is rather good at noticing movement in her field of vision.
Warrior - Starfire was trained by the Warloards of Okaaras in hand-to-hand combat, and has basic training with some weapons such as the bow. Her greatest skills when it comes to weapons and combat are wrestling style moves and polearms. She would perform well in gladiator-style tournaments.
Long range attacker - Thanks to her flight and starbolts, Starfire is able to hit targets and is only limited so far as she can see and aim, which leads us to...
Aim - Due to training on Okaaras, as well as using starbolts as a primary offensive attack, Starfire's ability to aim is considerable. She can hit stationary and even moving targets with quick succession from far distances, though the latter form of target has a lesser degree of accuracy and hit to miss ratio.
All of Starfire's powers come from the sun. She takes in UV energy and occasional cosmic radiation (in space) which her body converts to usable energy. It works like stamina where it's possible to over-exert herself when she is low on this energy, and will exhibit human like symptoms of tiredness, moodiness, and fatigue. The more skin exposure and time in the light, the better.
Flight - Starfire has incredible, gravity defying versatility in the air.
-- Activated by boundless joy.
Starbolts - Bright green plasma disks that form in her hands and are projected in a straight line. Their destructive potential varies with the amount of energy, and the concentration of that energy. She could burn metals like steel, but this requires a greater concentration and more charging up time. Low-heat, concussive starbolts don't burn and can be rapidly fired in a barrage. Other forms require more energy put in, such as beams, eye-rays, or a big burst of starpower from many points in her body. The larger and hotter her starbolts, the less of them she could use.
-- Activated by righteous fury.
Superstrength - Starfire can lift a maximum of 4k tons. While Tamaraneans are innately stronger than humans at peak fitness, their ability to exert muscle-defying force is augmented by energy from the sun.
-- Activated by confidence.
Other:
These powers/abilities are distinguished from the rest by not being dependant on emotion.
Invulnerability - To a large extent, Tamaraneans are naturally more resilient than humans of peak fitness. They were built to survive the harsh conditions of space, which include surviving a huge range of temperature; -270C and +270C as an example. Tamaraneans do not need air to survive though they can breath oxygen which seems to be a shared atmosphere (humans could survive on Tamaran). They can withstand forces on their body from large boulders to shockwaves from bombs, but without the super-strength to help counter they can still be killed by these forces.
Omniglot - Tamaraneans can pick up languages
WEAKNESSES
Please have physical weaknesses as well as psychological ones. Nobody is all powerful.
HISTORY
Koriand'r was the second born daughter and middle child of the ruling family on Tamaran. On Tamaran, they were one of five ruling families and theirs was the strongest. She made friends with her fellow princes and princesses, as well as anyone else her age she could find. Her older sister Komand'r and her had a rivalry encouraged by their parents, and Komand'r would always come out as the better one. Koriand'r by Tamaranean standards was an unusually gentle type that preferred literature and verses to the strategy of warfare and was called 'weak' (which would be later categorized in a friendlier manner to 'nice'). Her relationship with her brother was more nurturing in comparison to the intense rivalry with her sister, and she doted on him.
While she may have preferred to be merciful, the climate in which she grew up was not. The Gordianians had been fought for many years, and her father had fought them off as long as she could remember, but they had achieved victory and ruined the state of her once tropical planet to vast, burnt out expanses. The youngest princess was taken as a prisoner by the Gordanians and she travelled across star-systems kept restrained. For ten years she was kept as a slave, being given from master to master to serve. When she was serving her Gordanian overlords she was put to work hard labour, which would benefit the real masters in their conquests of the universe--The Citadel.
Koriand'r made her escape at fourteen as she was being transported to the Citadel. She was in proximity to Earth when she escaped and landed on the blue planet. Confused, angry, locked in cuffs, knowing the Gordanians were on her trail, she laid destruction upon Jump City in an attempt to be free. When a boy had released her from her cuffs, she had taken him and kissed him to learn his language and warned that he should keep his distance if he valued his life. When the Gordanians found her, this same boy and three others stepped in to help her, and it was the first time the Titans had stood together to fight. Robin, Cyborg, Beast Boy and Raven would make up the core team, and following the defeat of the Gordanians Koriand'r had changed into what would become her regular uniform and introduced herself as "Starfire". She has since made Jump City and Titan Tower as her new home.
