Okay, Marina hadn't meant to get caught up in this situation. Seriously, she hadn't. She had just gone to dinner with Mrs. Roberts, the old woman who she was staying with, and her son, Jamie Roberts, who had just gotten back from a research trip. It was time to celebrate, and what better way to celebrate than going out to dinner? So, they had gone to a pretty nice restaurant, one that you had to dress up a bit for. Marina was there in a nice dress and heels, her hair down in curls and lacking sunglasses that protected her light sensitive eyes. And the three of them had been having a good time, Marina and the dark haired Roberts looking very much like a small, happy family.
Jamie was telling them a joke that one of his friends on the trip had said as they were walking out of the restaurant, when everything went down the toilet. They had appeared just in time to witness two men, thugs, knock a man in the head and get into a car that was most likely the man who they had just beaten. They sped away, howling with laughter, with people diving out of their way.
You have got to be kidding me Marina thought as Mrs. Roberts and Jamie went to help the guy, cracking her knuckles. Time to take matters into her own hands. She took of her heels and then took off running after the car. She still remembered the streets of Jump City a bit, crossing through alleyways until she ran into the street in front of them. Not wanting to hit a kid, they swerved. Sure, they could beat up a guy and steal his car, but hit the kid with the car? Nope, that's too much for them.
Both of the guys, both probably around six feet tall, got out of the car and started to yell at her. Calling her crazy, out of her mind, stupid kid, etc. "That's not your car. You stole it," Marina said, moving slightly towards the back of the car. She kept her eyes on them, never looking away. "Now, i'm going to give you a choice. Give me the keys and leave the car with me so I can give it back to its owner, or don't do that and get your butt kicked by a girl smaller than you." Marina stated, hands on her hips. She watched them, waiting for their decision, and sighed when they actually got back in the car.
Bad guys here are still idiots, Marina thought, moving quickly to the trunk of the car and grabbing the under carriage or whatever it was called. As they attempted to go, Marina lifted the back of the car, the tires spinning in midair. Marina grunted a bit as she re-positioned herself, holding the back of the car almost over her head with her hands crushing the bottom parts of the car. Oops. And now for the waiting game, Marina thought, wondering if she could lift the entire car with the crooks in it and place it somewhere that would prevent them from leaving. She wiggled her toes a bit, for it felt good to be bare footed again.
It brought back old memories.
