tag core titans | 560 | Knock knock The sunlight streamed down, trying to blind the young hero. However, years of flying around after Diana had taught Cassie well. A pair of aviators sat atop her nose, metaphorically laughing at the light failing to achieve anything other than warm Cassie’s behind. Metropolis had been left behind hours ago, a wordless hug had been the only sign of farewell. Neither Cassie nor Diana made mention of the possibility that this might be their last time together. It was not the first time they had gone up against impossible foes, and it would not be the last. Wonder Woman had flown east to meet up with Superman, and Wonder Girl flew west to head to Jump City and the Teen Titans. Her trusty duffle bag sitting along her back, and her headphones blocking out the wind noise with some heavy bass, Cassie glided her way past the city limits. She was in no rush, enjoying the warmth of the sun. But a quick glance at how close the glowing orb had gotten to the horizon put a little burst of speed into her glide. She had told Robin she would be arriving today, probably best to arrive before the day was over. As she flew over the city that was her new home, Cassie’s eyes were drawn to her destination. A giant T in the middle of the bay. Compensating for something Robin? You’ll hit puberty eventually…. probably. She thought with a sly grin. Cassie hadn’t met any of the Titans before, even when Batgirl and Robin had worked with Batman. Somehow they never seemed to go to the same Justice League meetings. It was weird, they were like cousins in Hero terms, Superfam, Wonderfam, and Batfam. But aside from a few texts here and there, no real contact. That’s not to say Cassie didn’t feel like she knew them. The fangirl is strong with this Amazon, and the fanfic is in bountiful supply. Tumblr is both a blessing and a curse when the tumbles are about you. The conversations over the phone were her first direct contact with the boy wonder. And his voice, high pitched with youth, had surprised her, used as she was to no nonsense Amazonian commands. Having now passed over the water, Cassie touched down on the lawns outside the Tower. Unhooking her headphones, she stuffed them in the duffle before approaching the door. Stretching as she walked, Cassie was in no rush. No doubt her landing had triggered some alarm, and someone was tackling the staircase on their way to greet her. Working the last kink out of her muscles, stiff from flying all day, Cassie reached the door. Doubting anyone would hear if she knocked, the teen settled on waving at the camera with a grin. |
