As Slade explained that some mutations could completely change a person the girl's gaze trained on the dragon in the glass tube. He was still chasing the light and it was really adorable. She still didn't see how he was remotely human. He didn't look like one. She felt her Father's gaze on her when she mentioned how she'd found Bido. It was a disapproving sort of look and she was afraid to meet his eye. Instead she turned her attention to Bido again.

Daddy released him from the tube and reassured the dragon with words that were calm, but not entirely kind. Rose sent a smile in Bido's direction. "You passed!" she said excitedly, before her Father turned his attention back to her and said some magic words: he can stay here. The girl's face lit up and she bounced forwards, throwing her arms around Slade in a quick hug. "Thank you Daddy!" she said before releasing him and turning back excitedly towards Bido.

"I'll show you my room!" she announced, which had been their original (but sneakier) intent. "And then we can see if we can find some food.  Did you know dragons eat only candy, Daddy?"

Bido raised his good arm when Rose declared he passed the dragon test and could stay. "Bido passed!" After the Slade family-hug, Rose turned around and proposed to lead Bido into her room. "Bido is all for finding candy to eat." Would they find some in Rose's room? Bido sure hoped so! The chameleon-man followed Rose's steps, turning a bright orange. "Rose's room isn't far." Orange like Slade's mask.

Without a glance back, the dragon left the secret lab. The test had been painless. But Bido was ready for some comforting sugar anyway. "Was this the first time Rose went into Daddy's lab?" Bido still wasn't sure what to make of the big man. He was certainly intimidating, but then Rose was easy-going and he was her father. "Bido wonders what else Daddy checks with his dragon scanner." But what Bido really wanted to know now was, "And what kind of sweets does Rose have for Bido?" The dragon was craving nougat, but could also settle for chocolate or hard candy. "And what is Rose eating for lunch?" It was now a rather late lunch, so maybe she had eaten before meeting the little dragon.

Bido stood anxiously before Rose's door. He was waiting for her permission to enter and hopefully gorge himself on sweet ambrosia.
