Rose was very good at doing things behind her Father's back.
That was why she was in a dark alley with the hulking figure of her first Sladebot on the ground in front of her. It hadn't taken too much effort to carry the robot up here. Of course, it helped that Rose didn't have the strength of a normal girl. She had spent months begging her Father to help her make robots like his. The girl was tired of battlebots. His response had been a test. She was probably in the middle of failing it.
He hadn't, of course, said she could use the "looks like Slade" Sladebot blueprints. Oh, well, she was banking on this working and him being super proud of her. All she had to do was field test him. Because watching him shamble around the work area she'd been given wasn't nearly satisfying enough.
Plus, she could kind of pretend that she was out with her Dad. If you ignored the googly eye and the way he kind of bugged out every so often he almost looked like Slade. She always wished he would spend time with her like a normal father. Now she was…sort of, but not really, getting her wish.
The lonely little girl in the orange and black mask powered up her robot and waited for him to turn on. She'd added some functions, like basic speech, and she was excited to see how it turned out. "Wake up, Daddybot~" the girl said in something of a singsong as the robot whirred to life.
That, strangely, was the first thing the Sladebot said upon activation. That... didn't sound like Slade at all, all things considered, but it did seem like an interesting change. Not just that, but the robot hugged her. Not a cold hug or anything, it was... a warm, caring hug. Something clearly went incredibly wrong with the construction of that robot.
Meanwhile, our lovable rogue Dar'Kneevel was strolling through the alleys. It was a bit late, and he was getting hungry, a situation that called for good old Jay's hotdogs. Dar had already tried plenty of restaurants, and truth be told, none had ever bested Jay. Sure, it might not be a fancy-looking place, but the food was good, in good quantity, and cheap... either way, fate didn't want him to eat so soon, because a surprise was reserved for the young thief.
Taking some of his shortcuts, he ended up jumping a wall, planning on going through an alley that was dark and often empty. Besides, it'd cut a lot of time off his path... what he DIDN'T expect, however, was to nearly fall on top of none other than SLADE, who seemed accompanied by his daughter. Normally he'd react differently, but suddenly bumping into Slade was too wild an experience for him to keep his head, making him stumble backwards and fall on his butt.
The Sladebot was hugging her, and saying affectionate things. She'd totally screwed up the programming. Or maybe she hadn't.
It took her half a second to return the hug, a smile lighting up her face. "We'll have to test your motor movements," she said sounding almost professional. She studied the robot with a frown, not liking the way he was tipping to the right. Rose would have to adjust some of the interior weights later. The girl then gave a sharp intake of air like she suddenly realized something. "We should play tag!" she announced. "It should be in the database somewhere. Memory access, database fou-"
She cut off abruptly when a human figure vaulted down on them. The little ninja wished she had been paying better attention to their surroundings as she instantly slid into a ready stance, and reached back, her swords whispering out of their sheathes, and glinting in the dim lighting. "Who are you?" she asked the boy, a severe expression on her face. "What are you doing here?"
The robot carefully listened to Rose's words, nodding in silent agreement with everything. He didn't have much time to react to anything else, however, since a cat-eyed delinquent landed a bit too close to them. Slaedbot didn't really react too much, just watching as Ravager questioned the boy.
"Yo, yo, it's cool! I'm cool, I swear!"
The boy got up, taking a step back and raising his hands. "I was just taking a shortcut, yo. Name's D-Ice." He tried slowly lowering his hands to see if he could go back to a normal stance. For some reason, he wasn't as intimidated as he should be, considering he was talking to sladekid AND she had pulled swords on him. He decided not to think about it too much. Of course, it would have been a lot easier if Slaedbot didn't decide to talk now.
"Do we have a problem, daugther?"
"No, no, we don't, no, don't worry! I was just talking to your daughter here about how good she looks with that outfit. I mean, good as in cool, like uh... intimidating, yeah. Either way I was just passing through and I'll be going now, yo."
Dar ranted, answering quickly before Rose could say a single word, then trying to quickly walk around the group and out of the alley. Slaed's googly eye didn't do much to make him less intimidating, all things considered, mostly because Dar was terribly afraid to look him in the eye.
The girl frowned when the boy held his hands up in front of his face and shifted out of her stance. She was still holding her swords but she didn't look like she was going to instantly pounce on him and slice him to ribbons anymore. “D-Ice?” she repeated. “That's a dumb name,” the girl grumbled in an insulting fashion. Not that a girl with the codename Ravager could talk.
Then the Daddybot was asking if they had a problem. The boy's response caused Ravager's cheeks to burn in a way she didin't particularly appreciate. But he had said she looked intimidating. Maybe she'd let him live. But she wasn't going to let him escape without a good scare.
As the boy moved to pass her and the Sladebot the girl quickly shot out her sword to stop him in his tracks, her own body following the sharp metal. “Ah, ah, ah,” she tutted, gesturing that he back up by swinging the sharp blade of the sword back and forth in front of him in a back the hell up sort of gesture. “Not so fast.” she shot Dar a bizarre little smile that bordered on dangerous. “I have to make sure you're not going to tell anybody what you saw tonight.”
Because the last thing she needed was her Dad finding out about this.
"Yeah, I didn't pick it. Got the name after a guy named Diesel tried to mess with me and got iced."
Sure, his nickname wasn't the best thing ever, but it sure beat going around handing out his actual name on the streets. As soon as word got out that Dar'Kneevel Callaghan was a badass thief, he'd be done for. Of course, with Slade on his case, he'd be done for anyways, no matter if he was known as Dar, D-Ice or Elena. He had to think fast, and he started talking whatever first came to mind, which consisted of regretting his words just as they came out of his mouth and trying to fix them. In the end, he just decided to walk away... unfortunately, he wouldn't be allowed that yet.
He froze momentarily, slowly backing up. Ok, that was bad. He opened his mouth, trying to find words that would save him. For a while, he couldn't find them, so he just stared at her and paid attention to her words. When she finished speaking, he fumbled for words for a couple seconds before finally managing to form a coherent sentence.
"Look, yo, I didn't see anything, I swear. We're getting a bit carried off here, you're nervous, but you don't have to make any careless-"
"Watch how you talk to the lady, young man. She knows perfectly what she's doing."
The sladebot interrupted Dar, who just went silent, except for muttering a few words.
"Yes, sir."
"You're not talking to me, young man! You're talking to my daughter. She's the one you have to say yes to."
Dar gulped. Slaed was threatening in a way, but he sounded more like a parent trying to get kids to make amends than a ruthless criminal. Sure, that didn't stop Dar from freezing with fear from both him and his daughter, slowly turning to her and letting out a muffled "yes, ma'am".
"Did you say something? Because I don't think I heard you, young man."
"Yes, ma'am."
"Good. Kids that misbehave can't eat dessert, after all."
The girl with the sword lowered it when Dar said he hadn't seen anything. Her single visible eye narrowed in an untrusting fashion, and she opened her mouth to question him again when the Daddybot stepped in. The look the girl gave the robot was scathing. She didn't need his help. Ugh. It was just like her real Dad! Taking over the situation! But...in a weirdly nice way like she and Dar were a couple of preschoolers fighting over a toy. The hell was he going on about dessert for?
“I don't need your help Daddybo-” she cut off sharply realizing that Dar couldn't know that this Slade wasn't the real one. So she turned her attention to the boy instead. “Don't "ma'an" me. If you tell anybody about seeing us I will hunt you down and make you regret it,” the girl threatened, the sword pointing straight at the boy's face and the expression on her own dangerous.
The robot nodded, crossing his arms in agreement. "Sorry." He said it fast and quietly, but it was still perfectly audible. Dar didn't have too much time to register that, though, because Ravager quickly turned her attentions to him... in a bad way, of course.
"Yo, we went through this already, I'm not stupid. Nobody will ever know from me that Slade's kid is actually Slade's kid, so please tell me, what else do I have to do to get you off my case?"
Dar regretted his words about half a second after they came out of his mouth, but then it was too late. He knew for a fact that giving evil masterminds freedom to think up what they wanted from him in a deal never really paid off. Of course, he didn't have too much time to think, so once again he decided to say the first thing that came to mind in order to save his soul.
"I mean, I could like, treat you to a hotdog or something. I mean, like... to seal the deal or something, right?"
It was probably the stupidest thing he had ever said, but hey, it was better than nothing.
The way Ravager was glaring at Dar made it fairly clear she didn't believe him. The sword didn't move, and her single visible eye narrowed when he asked what he needed to do to earn her trust as though she was coming up with something delightfully awful for him to do.
He beat her to the punch and offered to buy her a hotdog. Food was always a good way to go as far as Rose was concerned. The girl tipped her head considering for a moment before giving a single nod and putting the sword back into it's sheathe on her back. "Sure," the girl said easily, shooting a sidelong glance at the Daddybot.
"But first, you're going to play tag with us." it was decidedly evil. Only not. "Daddy's it."
That's it, he was definitely screwed. There was just no way that was going to fly. Asking her out? Really? Not just that, but to a shady hotdog joint. Actually, just offering to buy her hotdogs of all things. Yeah, there were so many wrong things with that plan that there was no possible way it would work. Yeah, he was totally done fo-
Oh. It worked. Well, that was easier than expected. Of course, nothing was ever perfect, and sladegirl decided to add something else to the mix. It wasn't... well, expected, which caused Dar to stare in mild disbelief at her.
"...Tag? Are you seriou-"
"You're it!"
The Sladebot interrupted the young thief, tapping his shoulder and immediately opening up some space between them. Dar just moved his head from "father" to daughter for a couple seconds while he tried to understand what was going. Tag, really. Might as well join in, yo. He quickly dashed towards the girl, leaping on her direction trying to tag her, a grin on his face. Sure, he might not be exactly brave or strong, but one thing was certain: Dar'Kneevel Callaghan was pretty fast.
When the Daddybot lurched forward and tagged Dar the smile on Rose's face was gigantic. Then the boy was coming after her. The girl in the two toned mask leaped backwards, arcing her body so that it was farther from Dar and to keep away from his tagging hand.
She ducked past, racing across to a nearby garbage bin and hopped up on the closed lid with an un-ninja-like clatter. From there the girl vaulted up onto the rooftop with a grunt and ran parallel to the edge for a bit before stopping to see if Dar had followed her and where her Sladebot was.
The girl had to know how the robot was calibrating. When she was it she was going to really test what he could do.
Dar dashed towards sladekid, but as expected of slade's kid, she managed to dodge. The thief didn't give up that easily, however, and continued on the offense. She managed to duck past him, but he quickly spun on his heels and gave chase, running close after her. However, when she hopped on the trash can and then to the rooftops, he made a change of plans. No use to continue trying, after all. Instead, he hopped after her, but putting his foot on the wall instead of the bin... and then pushing himself towards the nearby sladebot, who ended up being caught by surprise and fell on his back upon being tagged.
"You're iiiii... oops."
The thief backed down slowly as the sladebot stood still in the ground for a few seconds. After that, he started getting up, with no actual rush. After a while, he was back on his feet again, and finished processing what happened.
"Yo, look, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-"
"Good one, kid!"
They spent another two seconds without really moving before the robot added:
"Oh yeah, it's my turn now."
The Sladebot turned towards Dar, who quickly ran away, jumping on walls to climb on the wall he fell from before. He didn't really seem interested in running away, just going to a safe place within the game. He was actually having fun there, as weird as that sounded. Meanwhile, Slaed decided to turn towards Ravager, walking up to the wall where she was... and clawing at the wall with such strength that his fingers entered it, the doing the same with his other hand, then feet. In other words, he was climbing to the rooftop, even if he had to leave a few holes while at it.
Rose froze when the Sladebot went down. Her single visible eye widened as she waited to see if her creation would be able to get back up or not. She breathed a sigh of relief when he did, a smile flitting lazily across her face. She watched as the boy they were playing with hopped up onto the roof and then she heard a crumbling noise below her. The girl peered over the edge of the roof and watched for a moment as the Daddybot climbed up the side.
A gigantic smile lit up her face and she made a soft squealing noise that she would never admit to before breaking into a run across the rooftop. If she wanted to see what her robot could do this was the best place to do it. "Can't catch me!" the girl called over her shoulder. Though, she hoped it could. Then she knew it might be ready to show to her real Dad. Maybe.
With a deep breath the little ninja fixed the rooftop on the other side of the alley in her line of sight, the one where the boy was (I assume they're on opposite rooftops?), took a few steps back and vaulted herself across. She landed with a smash into the side of the building, the air leaving her in a rush, but her gloved hands grasped the groaning drainage pipe and she managed to vault herself up after a few seconds of air time. The girl crouched on the edge of the roof for half a moment as she caught her breath before she scrambled to her feet.
"You're pretty good!" she said to Dar with a breathless laugh before her attention turned back towards the Sladebot. She wanted to see what he would do.
The Sladebot climbed up with the same ease and calmness as if he was taking a stroll through the park. The good news was, the same speed too. She ran across the rooftop, tauting him, who just casually answered, as he continued climbing.
"Are you sure?"
The girl leaped off in the exact moment Slaed reached the rooftop, avoiding him, but unfortunately not fully making it to the other side. Thankfully, she didn't really hang for more than an instant. Dar ran towards the edge as soon as she "landed", grabbing her wrists and pulling her up, wincing and groaning while at it.
"Watch out, yo!"
His eyes locked into hers as he pulled her up, and for a while after she was in safe ground... well, roof. It was weird... he never really thought he'd meet Slade and his daughter, but that situation was completely different from anything he could ever expect. They were just... having fun, like a father and a child are supposed to do. And they really didn't look all that intimidating... Slade actually had a pretty funny look to him, and his daughter was... well, she was pretty cute.
His thoughts and gaze were interrupted by the sound of a large body crashing to the ground. Apparently the Slade also tried to leap to that rooftop, but he forgot to... well... leap. And so, he just laid there on the ground, face down, his leg twisted in a way that shouldn't really happen to a human.
Ravager hadn't expected the boy she'd basically blackmailed into playing tag with them to help her up onto the rooftop. He didn't seem to mind terribly much that they'd taken him away from whatever plans he'd had for the evening. Her mind instantly shuffled back into focus when she heard the crashing of a body on the ground below them. Apparently she hadn't programmed him to jump. Oops.
Her single visible eye widened and the girl jumped down from the rooftop, landing on the ground with a soft thud, before racing over to the prone form of her bot. His leg was twisted in an awful fashion, but since he wasn't human it shouldn't be too hard of a fix. "What happened?" she demanded as she rolled the bulky robot over with more ease then she probably should have exhibited. "Access data cache memory protocol 10," came the second order as she moved to fix the leg attachment. Luckily she wouldn't need her tools for this kind of a fix.
The girl grabbed the robot's leg and twisted. There was an inhuman popping noise and the leg was suddenly back into place. She bent it and straightened it again, noticing only a light catching of the rollers that hadn't been there before, before releasing the robot. The best test would be if he could stand or if his balance was totally shot after a fall like that. "Stand."

The roleplay takes place after the series end of the original Teen Titans animated show, but does not include the movie Trouble in Tokyo. Since then Robin has been on something of a recruiting spree, and many new young heroes have found themselves a home in Jump City as well as Titan Tower.
