Another day, another practice. Kaie was feeling pretty good about herself. She was getting the hang of this cheer stuff, and they were building routines for her size. It was pretty awesome, being such a core part of the team like that. They even trusted her to toss them by now, which was pretty brave of them. Kaie had a hell of a throwing arm. Lucky for them she could control it.
It was chilly for California, but pretty mild by Kaie standards. She'd heard it was getting cold out east, but here the Irish Titan didn't even need a jacket. Lucky for her, since she liked showing off her uniform a bit. It was a status symbol, and she'd never really had those before. Between that and making Titan Team, she'd finally gotten a few reasons to be noticed aside from her size. It was a good feeling.
Kaie made her way across school grounds, backpack slung over her shoulder. She didn't have too much to do today, so she was going to take her time. The giant strolled along at a leisurely pace, keeping an eye out for any normals that might get underfoot.
Ringing. A dazzled teacher looked at the clock- 5pm. The students, much faster at the uptake, were busy packing their belongings. Some of the more prescient ones already darted past the classroom door. "Bye Professor!" Lisa yelled before disappearing from sight. "But I haven't had time to assign -" The little girl didn't have time to hear the rest of the sentence. She was already bouncing off the pavement in large leaps. Each one was slightly enhanced by her powers: not enough to be noticed, but still giving the impression of an extremely agile little girl. Within seconds she was halfway through the school grounds. Looking back, she checked if the teacher had tried to catch up to her to assign his homework.
That's when she crashed into a big thing. "OUuch." Just as she had been hopping from place to place, the little girl bounced off the giant one like a ping pong ball. Again using her power in a nearly imperceptible manner, she managed to soften her fall. Tiny little hands quickly started rubbing against the blond head. "That hurt. I didn't know there was something in the middle" Looking up, Lisa realized she hadn't bumped into something but rather someone. "Oh wait, what?" It took a moment for Lisa to put a name on the giant face. But then, she realized who it was and what it meant for her.Acting skills: on."Whooooa. Are you Kaie, the Titan Girl?" Lisa clapped her hands together in faked delight. "Can I have an autograph? I'm Lisa Smith, heir to Smithcorp." And that entitled her to an autograph, right?
Kaie stopped and looked down, feeling a light impact against the back of her leg. Apparently, a very unobservant girl had run into her. Young, by her looks. Kaie thought she looked a bit young to be in high school, but there were lots of unusual-looking people around Jump City. Maybe she had a superpower that stunted her growth. Kaie was curious, but even she had more tact than that. "Sorry about that!"
Aw yes, bring on the fans. It was something Kaie was still getting used to, and it would never not be cool. "Thas right!" she said with a big grin on her face. Kaie wasn't too familiar with Smithcorp, but she didn't really care. Important thing was she had a fan to please. "Okay, but is gonna be big. Want me ta sign it Kaie or Rumble?" Kaie pulled out a pad of paper and an oversized pen. She'd never really done autographs before, this was gonna be cool. She'd have to write something witty and memorable. Or at least as witty and memorable as she could manage. She knelt down to be closer to her new pal.
Lisa smiled as Kaie agreed to give her signature to the little girl. I wonder if the oversized fingerprints can be used."Rumble." Lisa lifted her eyebrow when the oversized school items appeared out of the giant's bag. The telekinetic was trying to get a feeling for this giant girl. She was tall -taller than her Golem-. But could she lift her robot? How high would Lisa have to fly the Angel to be safe from Rumble? Lisa smiled as she readied her salve of questions. And after she was done asking about Kaie, she could always question the girl about the other titans.
"You're even bigger than I imagined. How much do you measure?" Lisa asked her questions while Kaie was still writing down her note, hoping the distraction would lower her guard. I'm sure you can lift a car. Could you save a bus full of children if you had to? The little schoolgirl also studied the way Kaie was writing with her oversized hand. How fast had she grown into her powers? Was she trained in them, or still clumsy? It had taken Lisa years to fine tune her telekinesis. Would Rumble blunder in a combat situation? "How's being a cheerleader, compared to being a titan?" Lisa looked over Kaie's cheerleading outfit. Like everything she owned, it must have been customed made. But by whom?
"Got it!" Kaie pondered for a moment before writing her masterpiece. For Lisa, my biggest little fan. -Rumble :33< Possibly a little insulting, but that didn't occur to Kaie. She was just trying to come up with a witty message for her first real fan. Wow, that was a weird feeling. Having fans, being a known figure, it was going to give her a big(ger) head if she wasn't careful.
"Gettin close ta four meters now." Kaie thought for a moment, realizing that wouldn't mean much to an American. "Twelve and a half feet at last measure, an still growin." Kaie stood tall, practically beaming. It was nice having most people around here think her size was cool rather than terrifying. "Yeah, I can lift a bus. Been workin on me strength, and now-" Kaie stopped herself. "Well, canna say too much. Robin says no to tell all about our powers. Rumors get out an the wrong people might overhear, ya know?" She gave the younger girl a knowing look. "An is great bein on both teams! Is a lot different than back home, there people were scared o' me. Here is like I'm a celebrity almost!"
The giant signed slip of paper was promptly moved into Lisa's bag. "Thanks."Biggest little fan? The villain wasn't sure what to make of it. She'd probably make up her mind on her way back home. "Whoa. And how tall do you think you'll get?" So the giant could lift a bus, and was strength training. And Robin was a pain in the neck. "Gotcha. But you must be the strongest in the team, right?" It seemed like an innocent enough question.
"Yeah." Kaie was definitely famous in Jump City now. The little Puppeteer was even a tad jealous. "Why were people scared of you at home?" Did she do bad things? Could Lisa hope to convert her to the dark side? "Also, have you heard of any super-villains showing up lately? Which ones did you fight? Who was particularly tough?" Lisa could study footage of the Titans' fights, but nothing could beat first hand information on what they considered as a major difficulty, and whom they only saw as minor annoyances. Lisa hoped she wasn't in the latter group.
This girl sure was full of questions. Kaie supposed that was just part of having fans, they wanted to know more about their idols. Kaie could live with that. Hell, she could learn to like it. It was pretty gratifying, having that level of interest. She could kinda see how some celebrities let it get to their heads. "The doctors say probably about 15 or 16 feet, but they're no sure. Is kinda hard to tell, I don' think this ever happened afore." That was the tough part of being a medical anomaly, you never knew what to expect. Kaie was glad that she seemed to be avoiding the normal side effects of gigantism, everything else was getting strong enough to more than support her size. "I'm no sure who's the strongest. Star and Cy are pretty strong, and I don' know some of the other part-time Titans like me. There might be others too."
Man, the question pile just didn't stop from getting bigger. Kaie was sometimes accused of being a chatterbox, but she could hardly find time to breathe with this girl. "Well, there weren't so many people with powers back there, so they were kinda nervous. Here everyone and his half-brother has powers, so it's pretty much normal." Her smile faltered a bit there. She didn't like thinking about that too much. It had been lonely in Dublin, but here she felt more at ease. "Villains? I've no met too many. There's been a few suspicious folks by the docks, but they're a slippery lot. Only one I ever really fought were Cinderblock, an' wi' him I were with the core team, so it weren't too tough." The giantess smiled sheepishly. "My patrols been pretty boring mostly."
"Whoa." 16 feet was big. Starfire and Cyborg. People to look out for then. "How many Titans are there all together?" Hopefully Kaie would reveal something about patrols. Lisa wanted to know how patrol goups rotated through the day. "And I wish I had powers." Big fat lie, given that she already had them. And awesome ones at that! "When and where did you move from?" That was actual genuine curiosity: Lisa was running out of questions to ask the giant heroine.
The next answer reassured Lisa. It seemed Rumble didn't have that much experience fighting supers. "Oh, oh, could I tag along on your patrol one of these days? Keep you company, all that?" That would be useful. Maybe she could even steal the girl's communicator. And that finally exhausted Lisa's Titan spying questions.
Wait no. She had one more thing to ask. "Oh. I also have a... personal question to ask you." Lisa actually blushed a little. "How well do you know Speedy?" The archer boy had made quite the impression in his encounter with the little Puppeteer. She wanted to know more about him and Raven, as well as make sure he hadn't recognized him.
Lisa seemed pretty impressed, and Kaie could hardly blame her. 16 feet would put her bigger than most known supers, enough to intimidate even the most hardened crooks and scoundrels. Would also make things kinda inconvenient, but every power had its drawbacks. Kaie had long since learned to take the bad with the good. "Yeah, powers are pretty cool, can be tough though. Some guy dressed like a knight challenged me to a duel no too long ago just cuz I were big." Man, that had been annoying. "An' I came from Dublin near th' end of last summer. Bit of a trip, but they're better wi' supers here."
Okay, this fan thing was getting into dangerous territory. "Canna do that. Is dangerous stuff we do. No all of us have powers, but those what don't gotta be real well trained. Robin, Speedy, they're all good at fightin, like Bruce Lee good. Even some o' the powered heroes got trainin like that. Ye might get hurt if we run inta trouble." Robin had been unhappy enough with Vincent tagging along, and he had magic and cool fighty training. Lisa was just a kid from school, she could get messed up if they ran into someone like Cinderblock, or that ugly guy with the invisibility powers and that huge freaking pistol.
"Personal?" Now, Kaie was sure she'd made it big. You knew you were a real celeb when people you'd never met started gossiping. The question, though, seemed pretty far off base. The rumor mill must have wandered far afield. "No too well. I mean we met at parties, but we've no talked much. He seems nice, though." Lisa seemed to have a bit of a crush on the ginger archer. A lot of girls did, but Kaie suspected she might be too young for him.
"Ok." Lisa looked disappointed. "So you never take civilians with you? Or is it just because I'm a little girl?" People often underestimated Puppeteer because of her size. She usually made them regret this using her Golem. "Or do you mostly hang out with supers anyway?" The little girl crossed her arms. She would only hang with supers if she could. But as a solo villain, that wasn't very much an option.
Realizing Kaie was a bit disappointed by the Speedy question, Lisa followed up with, "Who should I ship you with then?" Hoping that that would distract the giant girl. "And who's Speedy with then?" Lisa was a bit tired of having to constantly look up to Rumble. But she resisted the temptation to use her telekinesis. Revealing her powers now would be a very bad idea. "And are tehre any parties you can invite people from school to?" Lisa looked hopeful.
Lisa seemed kind of hurt by the rejection, but it was necessary. She could get hurt a lot worse if Kaie brought her along. "No civilians. Is risky work, and we canna be puttin you in danger like that. A while back I saw a guy by the docks wi' a pistol bigger than yer arm. Nasty lookin fella, with sharp teeth and a mean temper." Kaie left out the fact that he'd just yelled at them a while and walked away. That didn't really serve her purposes too well. "I got friends at school too, but they don' come on patrol."
"Oh, yer a shipper?" Kaie said with a playful grin. She could certainly relate, especially considering her go-to cosplay. Ships were kind of her stock and trade. "Well there's this boy who does magic. He's no got a real hero identity yet, and I'm no sure if I should say his real name. Let's call him V. Maybe I can bring him by school sometime." That was gonna be difficult to manage without revealing his secret magic apartment. Kaie would have to figure that out with him. Maybe between the two of them they made up a whole brain. "I'm no sure about parties, I'll have ta ask. I brought friends before, but Robin's super careful. Gotta do background checks and whatnot afore he lets anyone in."
"A pistol bigger than my arm?" Lisa asked excitedly. "What was his name?" The golem could need a pistol. I could carry a gun that size. Maybe Lisa could team up with the villain. "And who is you best friend at school: one of the other cheerleaders?" Her best friend had higher odds than others to be a super too. That was at least worth a check.
"Yeah." Kaie then went on about a certain mysterious V person. "Mister V then. Is he younger or older than you? I assume he's smaller." Lisa approved of that. She didn't like the fact that she had to look up to everyone. And weirdly enough, the villain was starting to feel some fondness towards Rumble. She was refreshingly naive and open... for a hero. Then came the next disappointment. Lisa wasn't sure if she would pass Robin's background check. She'd have to ask Dad to make sure everything was ok. And the little Puppeteer wasn,t sure he was willing to invest the time and resources to make sure her profile turned out clean.
Not that anything bad would show up if someone did a thorough check on her. Just not much would show up, which in itself could be suspicious, even for a fourteen year old girl. Because she wasn't any teen girl, but her father's daughter. Also, you never knew which engineer would talk. "I don't want to get you into trouble with Robin. And paperwork is boring. Just say hi to Speedy from a fan."
Kaie's warnings didn't have their intended effect. Lisa seemed excited rather than scared off. Kaie would have to keep that in mind, telling thrill-seekers about the dangers of her work was a bad idea. She should have focused on the boring aspect and all the rules instead. Maybe that would have worked better. "Didn' hear his name, he kinda vanished afore we could do much. One thing bout this job, ye learn ta hate stealth powers."
"He's a lil older, but no by much. And smaller, of course. I've never met anyone aside Cinderblock what was my height, and he is DEFINITELY not my type." Kaie chuckled at the thought. She wondered if that big lump of concrete ever dated, or if he even understood the concept. Kaie wasn't quite sure if he could think or not. "But V's a great guy. I should talk ta him later, maybe he can come by and meet people."
"Heh, yeah, Robin can be kinda serious an grumpy sometimes. I guess it comes wi' being a leader." Robin had seemed a lot more fun from a distance, but since joining the team she'd seen that side shine through a few times. Mostly when he was dealing with certain redheads. "I'll let 'im know. Maybe he can swing by sometime and say hi." Kaie wasn't sure if it was okay to ship, but it would be fun to see Lisa fangirling over him at least.
"Do you know what kind of stealth powers he had?" A big pistol and escape powers? Maybe Lisa had found a new friend. Then the two girls discussed Rumble's mysterious 'V' friend. "How do you contact him? Has he given you a magical stone or something?" That sounded plausible. Lisa had no idea how magic worked. She was just rolling on with random clichés. "And you squeeze it and think of his name and you two can then chat through a portal?" She thought this over. "Though in your case it would probably be a slightly bigger rock."
Lisa detected a note of disappointment towards the Titans' leader. "Robin? I thought he was always calm and cool and in control." Fangirl mode activated. Though in this case it was faked, and probably less believable than with Speedy. "I didn't suspect him to be the grouchy type. Time to make Grumpy Robin cat memes, then." Lisa waited to see how Kaie reacted to that. Maybe she had a gem that would go viral tonight.
Then Rumble mentioned Speedy swing by. Lisa quickly tried to deflect that notion. "Oh no no, no need." There was still an off chance he recognized the Golem's pilot if he randomly barged in at school. At a party she would have put a lot of effort into not being recognizable. But who knew when the sneaky archer ninja would show up if he was 'just swinging by'. "I'm sure he's busy and doesn't have time to visit fans."
Kaie shrugged. "Probably magic, V made him appear the firs' time, an' when he disappeared again he kinda jus' flickered, I guess is the best word." For all her attempts to study it, Kaie still new practically nothing about magic. Possibly because her main teacher on the subject was illiterate. She had considered asking Raven about it, but the gray girl was kinda hard to approach. Ghostdance was another possibility, but he seemed busy a lot. Vincent was more accessible.
She was a little surprised at how spot-on Lisa was about the telepathy gems. "Somethin like that, yeah." She left the topic there. Getting too specific about magic might be a problem. She wasn't sure, but it was better to err on the side of caution. "Well Robin is in control, but he's really serious in control a lot of th' time. He got a big group ta run, has ta keep everythin under wraps." She could understand Robin's position, even if he was frustrating sometimes. "Grumpyrobin sounds great though."
"Oh, he might. Ye never know." Oh, this was going to be fun. She had to see if she could get him to make an appearance, it would be great watching the fangirls flip out. Maybe she could get some of the other dreamy Titans to show while she was at it.

The roleplay takes place after the series end of the original Teen Titans animated show, but does not include the movie Trouble in Tokyo. Since then Robin has been on something of a recruiting spree, and many new young heroes have found themselves a home in Jump City as well as Titan Tower.
