After leaving Alphy's house, Barbara had no intention on returning to the Tower. There was a little apartment that Bruce actually paid for (with or without knowing, she'll never tell) a couple of miles from his place. Of course, it wasn't here in the ritzy part of town, but it wasn't really in the slums either. It didn't take her very long to get there, but then was the question of what to wear. Babs hurriedly stowed away her costume in her most secret hiding spot (under the bed) and jumped in the shower.
She was going on a date with Alphonse Carey. No matter how many times she said it to herself, it didn't seem true. Alphy and Barbara had been friends for a while, but it had never been anything more than friendly banter between teammates until now. Were they really doing this, or was this all a dream? She couldn't debate that for long, as he would be here soon. Deciding on her strapless dark blue gown with black lace accents on the bodice from the Christmas ball, as it was just about the fanciest thing she owned.
There was five minutes before the time Alphy had given her to be ready by, and ready she was. Her long red hair was curled and pulled up on one side. She stood in front of her mirror, applying the last touches to her make-up. She shouldn't be this nervous, right? They were friends. They already knew each other. This would be just like another night hanging out, right?
