Batgirl straightened with a smile as she watched Red move, finally standing at her back. "Might I remind you of a certain anatomy lesson." She raised her eyebrows, though knowing he couldn't see. "Women don't get cocky, if I were to use your words. Usually, we are sure of ourselves because we do not doubt the outcome."
It took a minute for her work on his nerves to take effect. "First lesson: never underestimate your adversary." Batgirl smiled and walked around to face him. "Second: lower your stance and relax. You have to be able to move quickly, even with your super speed. Third: pay attention to your attacker. If you have the opportunity, learn up on local villains and their fighting styles. Some weaknesses are listed, but others you will have to figure out for yourself. These guys aren't going to dance with you in circles. They will play dirty. Pay attention to their body. If they move a shoulder or a hip in the slightest, you will know what they'll be throwing at you next and be able to counter it before they get remotely close." She crossed her arms and shrugged. "You are skilled, don't get me wrong. I wasn't about to let you land a punch and break a rib or two." A small smile spread on her lips. "Sorry about the arm, though. I should have been a little more gentle. It will wear off soon."
The numbness of his arm was soon replaced with pain. Low at first, but as time progressed, it got sharper. The secondary effect of pressure point techniques. Dead limbs were quite painful to wake back up. Still, as she commented on the anatomy lesson, he couldn't help but chuckle. He hadn't meant for it to come across in such a mannerism. English was, afterall, his second language. Still, he was able to grin beyond the pain at the blunder of his speech.
As he tried to move his fingers, he listened to her pointers. He hadn't thought of her as an adversary, but as this was a combination of both sparring and training, he could see her point. As for the other points, he took them to heart. Especially about the villains around here. He simply relied on his invulnerability and abilities to get him through in a fight. But, he was in Jump City now, with bigger game. People who had tangled with the likes of both the Justice League and the Teen Titans.
And, with one punch, she had made him lose the ability of his arm.
Even temporary, it was enough to instill a slight apprehension in him about swinging so wildly. He fought through the pain, clenching his dead hand into a fist as he could feel the blood coursing through his veins. Each heartbeat sending waves of pain through him. Each wave reminding him that he wasn't invincible. But, also that he was alive. It was an exhilarating feeling. "Don't be sorry. Your strike was perfect. Had my blow connected, it could very well have proven lethal."
Taking her advice, he dropped his knees further, bringing his arms up once more. His mind drifted back to when he was a boy, his father telling him stories of explorations he had been on. And with a deep inhale, he cleared his mind. Focusing in on the here and now. Batgirl was a worthy tutor. And, he would gladly drink in any and all lessons she had to teach him. "Again." he said, charging forward once more. This time, swinging with his off-hand towards her shoulder. His mind clear, his body relaxed. It was a different feeling as his fist moved towards her this time.
As Red Star lowered with her advice, she smiled as she readied herself in turn. Feet spread slightly, knees bent, arms up. She was surprised at his eagerness to go again. That arm had to still hurt. Though the thought had occurred to her, she wouldn't use that point again. Usually she would take advantage of such a weakness, but she had to remind herself that she was training a Titan. Which was weird, because she wasn't usually the one doing this. It was nice to turn the tables for once, though. "So you don't mind getting beat up by a girl, right?" She taunted, smiling sweetly.
As he came at her once again, she watched as he moved as if in slow motion. First his outward leg tensed, hips pivoted, arm slightly pulled back. She was ready for him as his fist came at her, once again moving her opposite arm to the outside of his, but this time grabbing the wrist and pulling slightly, adding to the momentum. As the arm outstretched farther, Batgirl dropped to the ground and swung her leg around, attempting to catch him off-balance.
The question brought him a little off his guard. Or was it her smile? They were both fairly distracting. Mid punch, he gave his retort. "Actually, I I love a woman who can kick my a..." Before he could finish, his wrist was grabbed, and a sweep kick was brought to the back of his legs. Again, she showed her skill as a fighter. Under normal circumstances, a kick to his legs would not have brought them out from underneath him. But, she used his momentum against him, and the result was him crashing down on his back.
Which, normally wouldn't have been so bad, but as his right arm was still coming back to life, the sudden shock of his bulk hitting the floor sent a few waves of pain throughout his body as a whole. He winced, closing his eyes as the pain subsided. As the pain subsided, he opened his eyes once more. "So, I see you have me at a disadvantage, once more." As he spoke, he grabbed her arm, attempting to pull her on top of him.
Though Red Star didn't drop like a normal teen his size, she still got him on the ground, which made her happy. As she stood up and looked down at him, she saw pain cross his face. "I'm so sorry, did you land on your arm?" The happiness she felt at her win dwindled as concern took its place. She hadn't really meant to hurt him. Then again, she was kind of showing off to the newbie and going a little harder than she probably should have.
When he extended his hand, she had thought it was to pull him up. As she grasped it, though, she guessed he had other plans. With a surprised squeal, Batgirl fell onto the fallen Titan. Though she would normally be furious, Batgirl was laughing. "I have you at a disadvantage?" She asked as she pushed herself up with her arms so that she wasn't totally leaning on him. "I'll give you some points for taking me down with you. Guess you should never let your guard down, huh?"
"Well, the playing field has been evened up a bit, but yes. You still hold a significant advantage." he mused, winking at her. Stretching his arm out some, the pain slowly began to fade away into nothingness. "Wasn't that your first lesson? Never underestimate your adversary?" A few muscles popped back into place as he moved around. A satisfied sigh leaving his nostrils as his arm was finally back to where it should've been.
"I hope you don't mind if I..." his voice trailed off as fingertips moved through her hair. A low smile crept over his lips as her soft locks brushed over his skin. It was moments like these that were slivers of perfection in an imperfect world. And, this right here, where violence, even in a controlled, sparring environment, that later turned to a shade of intimacy, was only understood by those that lead violent lives.
Sitting up, his lips hovered beneath her own. He breathed in her scent, but ultimately, he turned away, looking down. "Forgive me. I didn't mean to be so forward. You're a very special woman, Babs. Truly, a once-in-a-lifetime." He chuckled nervously, looking back at her. She truly did have him at a disadvantage.
Batgirl laughed at his use of her words right back at her. "Yes, I suppose it was." She was about to push herself off of him when his hand reached up to touch the cascading waves of hair that hung over him. Batgirl froze, but the smile stayed. For a girl who was always thinking, her mind was suddenly blank as Leonid's fingers wound in it. She was still caught in surprise as Leonid sat up, bringing his face closer to hers.
When he finally turned, Batgirl regained her senses and sat up herself. "No, no. You're fine." She shook her head and got to her feet. A blush reddened her cheeks as he called her special. Man, was he this smooth with all of the ladies? She would have to keep an eye on him. The last thing they needed was half of their teem weak-need around the Russian teen. Babs shook herself mentally, determined not to be one of the weak ones. She had a level head on her shoulders. If only it would stay working in these situations instead of bailing out on her when she needed it.
Instead of continuing the awkwardfest, she crossed the room and picked up her jacket again. "Um, so lunch? We can meet for pizza after we shower. I'm sure you've seen the place. Giant pizza-shaped balcony with pepperoni-umbrella tables?"
He stood up, watching her walk out. A light sigh escaping his lips as he rested his forehead against a wall. Turning off the music, his mind began to travel. Should he had gone for the kiss? He had never been in a situation like that before. Every kiss he ever had was either mutual, or the lady pressed. Sighing once more, he made his way to his room. He needed to shower, and get ready for lunch.

The roleplay takes place after the series end of the original Teen Titans animated show, but does not include the movie Trouble in Tokyo. Since then Robin has been on something of a recruiting spree, and many new young heroes have found themselves a home in Jump City as well as Titan Tower.
