"Alright Might Guy, next time I’ll make the Dynamic Entry and you see how it feels. "
'Tino had watched some straaange television with his kid siblings growing up, and even anime references made it into his banter. Valentino, almost amused, referring back to when she’d complained about being so rough.
The beefy brute had been making all sorts of calls off to the side the moment Paige had hit the soggy sidewalk.
The murder site was being tidied, and the cleaning materials picked apart for additional DNA as they spoke.
They had lawyers, doctors and best of all, favours on their side; this Paige person couldn’t touch them.
Before he spoke, he pulled something up on Tate's phone.
Both guys took a long look at her, then nodded at one another.
"Step into my office, Bambina."
Thanks to this Allmost-American Big Brother, a citizen was shaking like a leaf.
After a look from this brother of his, Tate muttered a pardon and swept her off her feet again.
They were behind tinted windows in the backseat of ‘Tino’s ride before she could muster up the courage necessary to look at either of their faces.
Tate clipped her belt in place, face neutral.
'Tino's, shades in place, looked into his rearview mirror.
He spat out the window, then struck a light. It's smell wafted out in peppermint.
The little punk had made him bite the inside of his cheek at the sneaker to his teeth!
"We do not kill for kicks,” he began, tipping his shades and glaring at Paige when he got to ‘kicks’.
“We possess restraint, as you’ve been shown. That man's end was handled far too sloppily to be us. There are rules, you see. Someone broke a few of them today. When I meet them, I will break of few of theirs today,” he ended, matter-of-factly, having more character than Tate whom Kenni actually apped.
Said mobster minor changed the flow of conversation a bit, as they left the docks, the beginnings of the early-shift workforce visible in the streets.
"It's..somewhat nice to meet you, Signorina Paige. I'm.."
She'd introduced herself, and Tate nearly did the same before remembering he wasn't in class.
They'd already made enough of a scene, and everyone's volume had lowered substantially. If he started with how they were Family members, and she made enough racket, the authorities would swarm the scene like flies before their own forensics team could act.
"..glad you're still alive."
"Tickled."
"We..are the Delightful Children.”
Although it struck a chill chord with those in-the-know, maybe the slightly ridiculous codename would lighten things up a bit.
A level look into the rearview mirror, and 'Tino gave him the nod to continue. The sarcastic smoker had been watching the girl, and something other than testy rage had settled on his face.
“I’m Tate Dilettevole, you may recognize the name from..all over Jump, really. What 'Tino is trying to say, is that we mean you no harm. As long as you come to your senses.” Truly, the Dilettevole name could be found in donorships, hospital plaques and amongst staff and students. Their father had had many brothers and sisters, and during his reign established many connections, and done favours all over the city.
Tate unscrewed a bottle of water for her, thinking her throat must be parched from all themadness events leading up to now.
"We'll even keep you updated on the investigation. The murder happened on our land, so our best and brightest will be on the job. For now, may we bring you home? Or perhaps we may swing by the police station.."
Tate calmly showed her his phone-screen, the missing persons announcement from the Turners now staring their captive audience in the face. Hopefully, the mixture of the revelation and their approaching Jump PD at the next left-turn, woudl be enough to at least get a verbal agreement this morning to let this go.
"..so that your parents can take you there themselves?"
'Tino nearly wept; his baby brother's first intimidation.
