The telekinetic could feel the tiniest amount of resistance to the remaining good arm of her Golem. The archer was conscious again. And the black haired girl is still on my tail. The young man tight inside her grasp mentioned his breath a few times. Raven demanded his release with even more strength. What can I do? She couldn't allow herself to get caught. It was already bad enough that the kryptonite was lost.
"Fine." And with that, the Golem simply threw the archer boy at the other telekinetic with all its strength. She'll catch him. He'll be fine. Lisa hoped, but did not look back to check. Instead, what was left of her broken golem jogged off, trying to reach the entrance of the subway before the two heroes recovered. If push comes to shove, I can leave the Golem behind. With its limping leg, Lisa would be faster just floating herself around.
The giant robot definitely made a scene as it pushed people around getting into the subway. Ripping the ticket system apart on its way, the Golem simply went through ignoring everything and everyone. Only when next to the train tracks did Lisa bother checking when the next train was there. The armored puppet could probably survive a shock with the subway, but she didn't want to get slowed down any further. And with the information of line 5 coming from the south in five minutes, Lisa jumped onto the tracks and started disappearing into the north.
"After aaaaaa!--ll we've been through you're just gonna throw me away?! Cold, darlin'! Real cold!" Despite his jarring landing and previous lack of reliable oxygen, once he was released, it was a relief. --for all of 0.45 seconds before the boy found himself sa~iling in freefall through the air at a mid-horizontal, mostly downward-vertical decline.
Yes, all those useless figures and facts flashed before his eyes before his life did.
Adrenaline might've been the only thing to ever raise the archer's I.Q. in times of duress.
Right now, though, what he needed wasn't brainpower for its own sake, but an applied mathematics.
"Speedy speeds through the sky at 30mph. Rae's that-many metres away. How best can they collide for minimal damage and optimal rebound in order to catch the liddle baddie?" he shouted at mostly himself, trying to keep his mind focused on the definitely making-off-like-a-bandit liddle lady he'd just been pitched forward by like so much baseball practice garbage.
He knew Raven would catch him when he fell.
What he didn't know, was how quickly they could catch up with the retreating villainess, even though her theft-mission had been thwarted, and her target as of yet unobtained.
No matter how cute she was, she was dangerous, and could have reinforcements under her command to give the good doctor back at the lab a run for his money.
Raven blinked once when the robot launched Speedy into the air, and then it was instinct from there. Her altitude fell as she dove forward to meet him in the air.... Though she needn't have bothered.
He met her. In a magnificently ungraceful manner.
She'd made it a few feet forward, arms outstretched, before Speedy knocked into her chest and sent the both of them barreling backwards. Apparently, it would seem, the robot had more strength than Rae had been guessing.... Attempting to backpedal in the air, even without wings, and still keep a hold around Speedy's chest, Raven sent a telekinetic hold out to aid the effort. Little black trails of energy wound themselves around Speedy's ankles, up to his knees, and helped her lift the archer while she focused instead on not saying a hurried hello to the ground.
And then, after the few seconds it took, she was leveled out once more.
"Well done," Raven whispered, strained, in Speedy's ear. "But we've gotta work on your flying talents. Your take-off was dreadful and I won't even mention your damsel-fall into my arms."
Letting him back onto his feet on the sidewalk, Raven alighted next to him on the ground and released her magical hold completely. "How bad is the damage?" she asked, her eyes on the direction the little demon girl took off in, but her voice and her ambiguously phrased question directed at Speedy. "And who the heck was that?" She glanced over at him to make sure he was still upright and workable, then Raven rose back into the air. "But you can tell me on the way.... You flying or running?"
"I call a foul in my dismount procedure, but I'll give you that landing critique. I didn't major on gymnastics, nevermind minor; we can't all rock it like Robin." Speedy grinned widely, even though it began as more of a wince from the residual pain in his lungs.
He shouldn't have chuckled, but laughter often accompanied times of discomfort. Such as almost becoming a pavement pancake not while your girlfriend watched, but WITH her.
"One: 'I'm FINE.' Two: One of my fangirls; you made her lose her nerve. And here I was so looking forward to seeing her shrine of me.. Three: WE'RE flying; SHE'S the only one running."
The archer hopped what he thought was much more gracefully into his girlfriend's arms this time, throwing his arms about her neck, and trusting her magic to be able to support his vast weight-difference so that they could catch up with the Golem and its small mistress.
With that (this author assumes), the two once again got the fleeing she-villain into their sights--for all of 2 seconds before she disappeared on her northbound route down the dark tunnels via the train tracks.
"... ... ...should we book it? I think we could make it." Speedy asked into Rae's ear rather loudly, as the next train began it's whistling from not 2 minutes down the way.
If they made a decision now, it could make the difference between catching up with Lisa and losing her track cold. Raven't magic was a faster transport than both their running power combined, but could it really outrun a subway train?
However, if Rae at least knew where the last stop on the rails was for the northbound route, maybe she could play train-roulette for a while with her portals until they cut Lisa off.
Raven eyed her boyfriend as he grimaced from the landing, watching him closely, but she let it go when he quoted Robin and decided to play the I'm fine! card. Guys. Pft.
"Being as shrines are most often dedicated to dead heroes, I will not apologize for interrupting."
She caught him just fine when he leaped, in fact more fine than before, considering she had both a head's up and a magical hold at the ready, and then they took off (because Speedy's author assumed correctly ;D), flying after the girl and her Golem.
Their disappearance underground provided Raven with less hesitation than perhaps it should have, and she followed just as quickly, narrowly missing a few civilians along the way, and sending some jumping out of her way from the sheer closeness with which she passed.
She twitched at the volume Speedy shouted into her ear with, then set him down on the concrete ground of the subway station.
"I agree," she shouted back.... As much as Raven ever shouted anyway. She craned her neck around, looking down the other side of the tunnel towards where the train would be approaching from, then looked back at Speedy. "If we get stuck in a sticky situation down here, I'm fairly certain I can get us back out." She paid a glance to the ceiling. "My powers don't lose reception underground."
Without further contemplation, she lifted the archer once more into the air and flew deftly into the darkness of the tunnel, hoping beyond hope that she wouldn't run into a wall. Night vision wasn't one of her many magnificent attributes.
Speedy's fangirl was still moving north on her metal stead. The Golem's joint were creaking loudly in the windless tunnel, making her wonder if she would reach the next station in time. If a train hits the Golem, I'll have to leave it behind. That would be a major failure and would set her back weeks before she could go on another mission again. Not a pleasant possibility.
Lisa's head turned around as a sound approached her from behind. The train already? No. Trains didn't argue loudly. "Heroes!" The exasperated girl exclaimed. Looking around the dim tunnel, she quickly spotted the bulbs sporadically lighting the tunnel. The golem stepped towards them before punching the lights out. Then Lisa opened the cockpit again, hoping against hope that the electronic system of the Golem had recovered since the archer's disastrous charged arrow.
The main screen lit up, flickered a few times, but otherwise seemed fine. Lisa switched to nightvision cameras. She was surprised to see that some of them worked. Her angle of sight was reduced to a 45 degree line on her left, meaning she could only see what was on the left side of her Golem. The robot changed its posture accordingly, facing the incoming heroes from three-quarters, its remaining good arm lifted and ready to fight. "Bring it on, Raven."
"Hunh! Your knack for the macabre! Attractive, that. Helga must've missed that angle." Speedy was thinking in a more Hey Arnold!TM manner with the shrine stuff, and already smiling from that, but her reception joke wasn't lost on him. The grin only increased.
It was so great to be with her again, even if this rapid-floatation stuff wasn't exactly the sort of 'hanging' out he'd prefer.
As they were shooting the breeze, they also caught up with faint, yet growing louder squeaking, until Speedy's darkness-adjusting eyes could just barely recognize the lumbering form of Lisa's robot.
"There's the Getaway Golem! We can't let the train crash into that hunk o'junk, OR let her get away.."
Speedy was amazed his gear, specifically his quiver, had made it along for the ride. It was comforting that even while his safety hovered somewhere over the brink of disaster, Raven had still thought to hover his gear along for the ride with her mysterious negative-colorscaped telekinetics. He grinned large at Rae, as he reached for a couple of Stuns and a Net Arrow; the lowered manouverability of the Golem would make it slightly more susceptible to a tripping-up by netting than would've been possible at full-functionality a short half-hour prior. Shooting the trap arrow first and following it with the first electric attack aimed at the Golem's obnoxiously-squeaky leg-joints (as best as he could tell; it sure was dark down here, thanks to Lisa).
The archer held back on the last shot.
He had no idea how difficult it would be to telekinetically transfer the Golem if you weren't on Lisa's level, however, they had to avoid any possible train accident.
"Now, we don't wanna hurt her, but we've got about 2 minutes until all THREE of us get hurt. If that first one hasn't slowed her down, d'you think you can try to move her and the Iron Giant as a unit? With a portal, or your powers?" Speedy strategized as calmly as possible into Raven's ear at a respectable volume, being so close to her.
Being so close to an inbound train at the same time was only taxing if you let it get to you.
No #HeroLifeProblems could crop up if you were dead if they just stayed calm.
Raven loved the darkness; it was hard to deny that and she never cared to try. But she had certain qualms about flying in the darkness, and even more reservations about it being the darkness of a subway tunnel, complete with oncoming train and irritated little girl with a dangerous toy robot.
All in all, she'd seen better odds.
Speedy was either not a betting Titan, or just didn't care about odds. He was already armed and in the zone, even as soon as Raven set him back on the ground avoiding the third rail like a boss, and a few arrows went flying towards their opponent. Raven watched them arc through the air, willing her eyes to adjust a little better, and then she armed her own power set, bringing a small cloud of energy around each fist and searching silently for anything that could be weaponized in this dismal tunnel.
Then the girl called out Raven specifically.
There were two options here. One, the little blondie held a grudge. Or two, she'd counted Speedy out of the fight.
Her mistake.... Raven smirked to herself. Speedy had to be unconscious before he gave up a fight. One of the admirable traits she'd written on the "Pros" side of their relationship.
Lighting up her eyes in response to Speedy's request, Raven's powers flared. "I can try," she replied, though she was fairly certain she'd succeed as well. She'd moved weights just as great before, if one considered the T-car plus two Titans on the same playing field as the Golem.
Hands out before her, Raven turned her attention back to the robot in front of them, keeping an ear out for the train's arrival as well. It's reaction to the arrows, whether it could dodge them or would take the hit, was all that held her up from seeking to move the lot of them to safety. She waited, a bit anxious, and watched.
The two titans appeared promptly enough. Lisa saw the archer's arrows arrive on her screen, two red dots flashing on the cockpit screen. The Golem attempted a dodge, but its limping leg got hit by one of the arrows. Can't dodge in this state. A sudden resistance appeared on the level of the leg. Her camera on that angle being broken, the Puppeteer couldn't tell what Speedy had put in that particular arrow. She didn't really have much time to think about it as the second projectile hit its mark, and the whole Golem was under electric shock again. Inside her cockpit, Lisa winced in pain. Unlike the first electric attack, this one pierced through a tear in her rubber seat.
"Ungh." Screens went black again as the arrow's current coursed through the Golem again. Lisa closed her eyes, her little body spasming from the electric shock. When the attack subsided, she was in the dark again. The Golem's electronic system was down again, and so was the little Puppeteer. She just collapsed inside her seat, eyes closed and body limp against the cockpit seat. Lacking the telekinetic's support, the robot fell to the ground, unable to hold its fifty ton weight.
But the titans had little time to savor their victory: the sound of an incoming subway train was exponentially growing. Lights flooded the tunnel, blinding the heroes who had just gotten used to the darkness of the tunnel. Some of the light reflected against the hump of metal that was the fallen Golem. A second later, and a horrendous screeching noise echoed through the tunnel as the train tried -in vain- to stop in time and avoid collision. The train's driver had already abandoned the leading wagon and was running towards the back carriages.
Would Raven make it in time? How could Speedy help? Would Lisa recover from her blackout on time?
Waiting and watching took a lot less time than Raven had anticipated. Speedy's arrows were true, and the robot reacted instantly, first halting and then shuddering and falling to the ground. Raven hesitated, the light around her raised fists flickering as a physical sign of such, and then she glanced first at Speedy, then behind her at the light and shadows both that were beginning to cast themselves on the wall. The train screeched as soon as it rounded the corner, as soon as the driver noticed something less than ordinary out in front of him, and Raven turned back to the scene, calculating.
Moving the lot of them telekinetically would require concentration, but more than that, it would require Raven's soul self to be bound to both Speedy and Lisa, for however long it took to evacuate the tunnel, as well as the golem. It would probably be more comfortable for them, staying within their own realm, but Raven wasn't exactly keen on the idea. Flying through darkness was hard enough without hauling three passengers along for the ride, but that aside, she was hesitant to link her soul to any other. It was usually an awkward mess, and Raven avoided it when she could.
Portals on the other hand.
She made her decision within seconds, and then her eyes were aglow and her cape took form with her spirit self and in a moment, she'd engulfed the archer beside her, fully and completely, and the two of them were gone. The train barreled on towards the golem and the unconscious girl within, still screeching in a vain attempt to pull up, still shining it's light blindingly down the tunnel. It came within a few yards before it's light shone upon the eerie black bird once more as she flared up from the ground beside the dead golem and collapsed again over the top of it. The golem and Lisa together found themselves in another dimension entirely before Raven brought them and Speedy back to earth on the sidewalk above the tunnel.
Luckily her aim was true and the civilians were clear before the fifty tons of metal touched down on the ground and Raven set Speedy gently back on his feet once more. The inky blackness of the portal held a moment longer before Raven released it altogether, her eyes lost their light, and she returned to herself. She looked to the golem, then to Speedy.
"Is she alright...?" she asked at random, approaching the golem cautiously in case it suddenly jumped back to life now that it was back in the open....
The same time it had taken for him to shut his eyes on reflex, flinching at the heavy-hitter blaring and blindingly before the three of them.
"Thank you. Thank you."
They were safe! Alive! He trusted her with his life, easily. But that didn't stop his legs from quivering to put the arrow-case on his back to shame.
The archer had his cheek against her stomach appreciatively, murmuring thanks, as he was set down softly, but as soon as his bright boots so much as scraped the tarmac, trembling or none, Speedy's legs rocketed him off to check on little Lisa's condition, wariness of golems or sizing up the situation totally lost on him.
He kicked up crumbled street as he ran, single-minded purpose sure; to see to it the kid was alright, far before Raven even asked.
So he'd be in the best position to answer her eventual question.
"Depending on how long she naps, it's anyone's guess. My vote's for 'definitely alright', though."
At least, his wish was.
She'd been alright during their aerial descent, and even his prescribed voltage hadn't been enough to do THIS, to knock her out. Unless..unless the first arrow had hit its mark far too well, and weakened her defenses?
The thought of the poor kid convulsing in pain from his electric shock was absolutely terrible.
Once he had the villainous youth of the day in 'custody' made up of his arms, he kept up the close, quiet vocal register that made sense when speaking at recently downed human beings: next-to-nothing.
"They say you've gotta resist goin' into the light, but..when it's comin' right atchya, THEN what?"
Speedy looked back plaintively at Raven, who was approaching the grounded! pair, and though his eyes were covered he knew she could feel the regret pouring off of him like a waterfall.
“And we’re not even talkin’ about the train yet. The shocks are off from now on, promise. Just wake up, for me..?”
Lisa recovered slowly from her shock-induced black out. As her eyes opened in a sluggish, hesitant manner, the first sight she gazed on was Speedy's mask. Really close. Blushing, Lisa started struggling against the arms enclosing her. "Let go of me!" Lisa wasn't thinking of using her powers at first, which led to mostly kicks and fist punches in the air. Eventually though, her brain started making more sense of the situation (and her blush subsided). The telekinetic then floated up and out of Speedy's immediate reach.
"Look at what you did to my Golem!" The puppet lay broken on the ground, sprawled like a pathetic one-armed drunkard. "Completely ruined!" Maybe Lisa's brain was still a bit dazzled by Speedy the electric shock. She wasn't thinking straight, so the girl fell back on what she did best: complain. "Do you know how much time it'll take me to get a new one?" Angry hands started floating in the air. "And then it won't be exactly the same proportion either, so I'll have to train to get used to it again." Lisa let go of an angry hiss.
That's when a thought dawned on her. I shouldn't be staying here. Shifty eyes surveyed both Raven's and Speedy's reaction to her angry rant. It was quickly running out of steam. When that happened, Lisa would realize what she should have done five minutes ago: fly away into the sky.
Raven's powers remained at the ready, especially because Speedy was throwing caution to the wind in his attempt to get to the injured girl. Perhaps Raven was too cautious, considering the girl was what, twelve? and barely a threat at the moment. But she was a barely conscious twelve-year-old villain and that gave Raven enough pause not to run headlong into the golem's range.
Her concerns were proven unneeded, though, the moment Speedy pulled the girl from the robot, cradling her and whispering nonsensical words of comfort. Her heart melt just a little bit, seeing the way he held the little girl, and then it ached when she realized the guilt he was feeling.
She would've opened her mouth, told him this wasn't his fault, that the girl would be okay. She would've offered her powers up, yet again, in order to set the girl on her way to being wide awake and no worse for the wear. If Lisa hadn't ruined the moment by throwing a telekinetic temper tantrum. Now, her eyes just narrowed as she noted that the little blonde villain seemed perfectly fine.
Fine enough, in fact, to take off into the air in another bout of fleeing from the two heroes....
Raven sighed and glanced over to Speedy. She was fairly confident that she could catch the girl, if it came to it, so she didn't mind taking a moment to look at him and raise her eyebrows in a silent 'You staying or coming?' Or, considering the girl's main weapon was currently crunching the sidewalk and the doctor she'd originally attacked was perfectly fine and being guarded, perhaps the question could be read 'Should I go after her or let her go this time...?'

The roleplay takes place after the series end of the original Teen Titans animated show, but does not include the movie Trouble in Tokyo. Since then Robin has been on something of a recruiting spree, and many new young heroes have found themselves a home in Jump City as well as Titan Tower.
