Hans ducked into a cafe. You see, today was cold, wet, and miserable. His jacket hadn't soaked through, but his hair was soaked. He dripped on the floor as he walked into the empty establishment, and looked back and forth for any patrons before shaking his wet mane dry like a dog out of reflex. His hair fell neatly back to where it was, still wet, but now a few tables by the entrance were wet, too. Of course, he wasn't dripping now, and he was still learning earth mannerisms, so he didn't know quite how rude that was.
Whatever staff were on hand were probably in the back, as the tall, muscular figure walked up to the counter and examined the menu. So many unfamiliar items, but one name stuck out like a sore thumb. One thing that just sounded....strange. For all the incomplete files of human history he had read, none of them mentioned this thing. Which was odd considering how many shops he had seen dedicated to it on his way through the city.
One question escaped his lips as he read the day's specials.
Khaldi was sitting on a table, drumming his fingers on it. That was definitely a slow day, and the heavy rain didn't help at all. His father was sick, and after some hours of almost no movement, Khaldi managed to convince his mother to go home to check on the old man, and things hadn't picked up since then. Still, he had to be ready should any customer arrive. Girl from Ipanema was playing in the background, and the boy couldn't even bring himself to sing along, as much as he needed to do something to pass the time. As soon as the song was over, he crouched behind the counter, turning off the stereo and enjoying the silence for a while before picking another CD. Alright, time to play something with a bit more kick. I don't know about the customers, but the rain is making me miss a guitar. With that thought in mind, he put the CD on, pressing play. Slow notes of the guitar filled the air as the song started to play.
And right when he got up, he noticed a tall man checking out the menu. Must have entered when he was distracted choosing CDs... talk about bad timing. Well, no harm done, except for the wet tables near the entrance. Probably because of the rain, when the guy entered. Woah. I knew the rain was bad, but not THIS bad. He was about to greet the customer, but was interrupted by a question coming from the man... it was a bit sad, but at the same time it was one of the best things he ever heard. To be able to teach someone the wonders of coffee... oh, that was a good day. He quickly filled two mugs with black coffee, passing one to the man through the counter.
"Blacker than a moonless night, hotter and more bitter than hell itself... That is coffee." He said dramatically, then taking a sip of his own mug. "That one's on me." He took another sip of the mug, thinking a bit before deciding to talk again. "Feel free to add sugar if you think it's too bitter, by the way. Not everyone enjoys the bitterness."
Hans looked warily at the liquid set in front of him. It smelled great, but it was HOT. Weren't drinks supposed to be cold? Whatever the case was, he picked up the cup, and downed it in one go, eyes wide in wonder. It was good. No, it was better than good, it was great. Most drinks on Eran were cold and bitter, this was HOT and bitter, but bold and flavorful as well. It was good. It was great. It was goodgreat. And it was just the stimulus needed to get Hans out of his dark place again.
His face stayed severe, as it always was, but a grin broke out on it. He never tried to hide the fact that he was a superpowered alien, given that he leaned back and floated several inches above the floor.
"There's nothing like that on my planet. Everything they drink there is COLD and bitter."
He laughed, and plopped down a twenty dollar bill.
"Umm...twenty, right? How much can I get for that?"
(OOC: Sorry for short post, computer just got fixed and ALL THE GAMES)
The day was getting better quickly. Khaldi's own coffee mug was helping him up, and telling an alien about coffee for the first time in his life? That was definitely a good day. Watching a grin break out in such a serious face had a really satisfying feel to it. And the fact that it was thanks to coffee... it was amazing.
The fact that the guy wanted to buy twenty dollars worth of coffee was also amazing. "Glad you like it, boss. That drink's my passion, can't get enouhg of it." He quickly calculated the value, barely stopping talking. "And that's eight cups. Drink'em all here or takeoff?"
((Also sorry for the short post, life's been rushed these days))

The roleplay takes place after the series end of the original Teen Titans animated show, but does not include the movie Trouble in Tokyo. Since then Robin has been on something of a recruiting spree, and many new young heroes have found themselves a home in Jump City as well as Titan Tower.
