(open to all titans) A plea, a prayer, a lesson

Ghostdance took a deep breath through the cold wet nose and breathed out through his mouth once more. His notes were clinched tightly in his coal black claws and blizzard white paws. The corner of his paper was damp in sweat making the first few words hard to read. Why did he have sweat when he was nervous? For that matter, why was he even getting nervous? He was just talking to people, people he knew on a subject he prided himself on being better at than the average bear.
I'm not talking to bears though. he thought to himself. I'm talking to people with experience, skills, and know how of their own. I'm just a booknerd over my head in stuff I use to read about. I've already nearly died once and taken a life. I don't deserve to speak. His ears flickered and fluttered under his hood, wildly scanning the crowd to gauge their interest. Damn Robin for asking him to do this and damn himself more harshly for thinking this was anything close to a good idea.
Clearing his throat in a sound that resembled a guttural growl Ghostdance pulled his hood down, letting the florescent lights of the Tower highlight his shaggy fur and canid features from behind his podium. A green chalkboard stretched out behind him. "Good evening. Some of you may recognize me as Ghostdance. More of you maybe more familiar with my more formal predecessor. I'm sure even more of you haven't a clue who I am." he said with more of a nervous and boyish smile on his face.
"But who I am should not matter. I posit to you that what should matter is what I represent." Ghostdance took another deep breath and leaned against the podium a little more heavily, a shaggy furred of his tail swaying and peaking out behind him. "Listen. When I was asked to make a workshop on defense and combat against magical threats I was forced to do some thinking. I was forced to confront and solve some question I had about myself and my role in the grand scheme of things. Not just as a Titan or even as a person of faith, but as a person and a part of the multiverse as a whole. If person is even the right word. I had a metaphysical imbroglio. I've had a lot of those this past year or so."
With another dry swallow Ghostdance pushed forward, adjusting his glasses further up a nose not meant to hold up the frames. "I came to the conclusion to begin with a forward to my lecture." he said, steadying his voice in a logical measure. "Though a few of you know who I am, fewer of you know my purpose. It is my, and my responsibility alone to ensure the peace between both the mundane and the preternatural. This is a responsibility I inherited from the previous Ghostdance. It's...well it's goddamn hard. And it's made me ask myself many things. Like am I willing to put the health, safety, and happiness of others above my own. Another being if I'm even human. As you can imagine this has brought up some questions about conflicting interest. But then I figured it out. I belong to neither as I belong to both. My focus should be not be to hand weapons to one side or the other but to spread education and understanding between both sides in order to defuse a centuries old cold war of mutually assured destruction. It's a tough path. One filled with the prospect of prejudice, segregation, and violent resistance. But ultimately I feel this is a path worth taking in a hope for a world filled with peace, cooperation, and understanding. A world I can eat a sandwich in and take a nap without worrying of the stars will crash down upon my head. So as I talk to you about the abstract and arcane, I want you to grasp this very earthly concept. A lot of what you will run into have their own cultures, traditions, and social mores. Some will even have their own emotions, dreams, aspirations, and even family. Often in the pursuit of justice we forget that at the end of the day we are dealing with people, even with the more human criminals."
Lang pinned back his ears and gave a small half-bowing motion to his audience. "I sincerely apologize for starting out on a serious note like this. I promise to at least make this a little entertaining. Without any more of my half-formed moral ramblings let's starts with something quite simple. What is magic?"
OOC: I promise to get to meaty fun stuff next post. I just thought this would be good to preface with.
