The world was silent. If one was to be the only living creature on the planet and sit in a room, drowning out their own breathing, they'd realize that the world was silent. It took life to give the world sound. Slade enjoyed the music of the night. There was life, so there was sound. Night made the best sounds.
Slade sat upon a rooftop. He was performing reconnaissance. It was nothing specific. He was keeping an eye on this side of town. He needed to make sure nobody got any ideas of setting up an operation over here. Slade had entire warehouses filled with bots, and he didn't want anyone nosy going where they didn't belong. It wasn't that they weren't protected. Slade was quite sure of his defenses. But, territory was a fickle thing in Jump City. The Titans got a piece, other up and coming villains got their piece... Territories changed hands often... Slade made sure that his home remained his. And thus far, he had held his ground.
The night wasn't making the kind of sounds it was supposed to. Life was here. Somebody was on his territory. All he had to do was identify the threat... Though, there was the possibility that it wasn't even a threat. It was safe to be cautious. Slade walked to the edge of the roof, and looked down at the streets below. Come out, little ant...
They told him he was paranoid. They told him that he needed to stop worrying, and relax for awhile, to have some fun. It was another night that Robin simply wasn't listening. His friends had tried to convince him to join their movie night. Captain Research had instead opted for staring at his computer until his brain felt numb. He was missing a piece of the puzzle. It had to be staring him right in the face. The young leader grit his teeth in frustration and pushed his computer away from him. The objects on the desk shifted, causing a stack of reports to fall to the floor in an avalanche of paper. Robin made a growling noise and grabbed the nearest object, a prototype Birdarang, and hurled it across the room in frustration.
In Robin's office was a map. It was almost impossible to tell the features anymore. There were tacks of so many colors. It had been scribbled on, written on, and retaped so many times no one but Robin understood it. It had been pure luck that it was the target of the prototype Birdarang he had been working on. The location smashed into the middle of the industrial section. The boy's masked gaze went from the sector, which had been too quiet for the past few weeks, to the Slade mask glinting in the semi-darkness a few feet to the right.
In his brain something clicked.
He didn't tell his team where he was going. This was his first mistake. He had activated the tracker in his communicator, making it so that any Titan who needed him would be able to locate him. It wasn't like he expected to run into trouble. He was simply looking for evidence. He didn't need backup. This was his second mistake.
It wasn't long before the R-Cycle's headlights cut off and a boy in a brightly colored uniform muted by the darkness jumped off of it. He stowed his helmet in the compartment, before clicking a button on the dash that locked the vehicle down. No one had ever stolen it before, even though it was probably easier to steal then Cyborg's T-Car, but there was nothing wrong with being cautious. The boy left his bike behind and headed for the fencing that surrounded the particular section of warehouses he had decided needed further investigation.
Slade had not been active in Jump City for awhile, but that didn't mean the man was far from Robin's mind. He studied the warehouses, searching for signs that things were out of the ordinary. It was silent. Almost too silent. The Boy Wonder frowned and made his way further into the compound. If his hunch was wrong he wouldn't find anything. If it was right...
Hm... Perhaps he shouldn't be looking for ants. It was Robin. It had been a long time since they had crossed paths. Slade hadn't been avoiding a confrontation. The cards had simply fallen that way. He was thankful to a degree. But, it had to occur at some point. That point had been destined for today. Slade opened a panel on his wrist, and pressed a few buttons. In one of the warehouses, a few squads had been activated. It was just as a precaution.
Slade stepped off the edge of the roof. It was a quick descent down to the metal overhang below. Upon contact, the metal let out a solid "clang". Slade didn't care what sound it made. It was only supposed to make a sound. It could've been a pin drop, and Robin would've heard it. His eyes would go to the source of the sound, and he'd see what he was meant to see. Slade walked to the edge of the overhang and looked at the Boy Wonder. "Robin... It's been far too long."
It was quiet. Too quiet. Robin continued to move between the warehouses cautiously, his masked gaze flicking back and forth between the shadows. He was beginning to think there was nothing here, until a clanging sound shattered the stillness and caused the boy to whirl in a flurry of cape. It took a fraction of a second for his masked eyes to lock onto the familiar form. The mask widened in surprise for a barely discernible moment before it cartoon morphed into angry slits. His posture instantly went rigid at the sound of the voice.
"Slade!" the name was said with all the vehemence of a curse. The boy's hand went to his belt and the weapons stored there. He pulled out his bostaff without looking, the familiar click of it extending as he drew it. Slade was a villain it was impossible to feel safe around. "What are you planning?" it was never that easy, but that never stopped Robin from asking anyway. Sometimes villains liked to give hints to prove how unstoppable the were. Anything was better then nothing, and Robin knew Slade had to be planning something.
He never changed. That was something that Slade could count on. No matter what happened, Robin would always look at him the same way, and speak with that ferocious heroism. Sometimes it grated on Slade's patience. But, he hadn't seen the boy in ages. So, for once, Slade welcomed Robin's unshakable morality. "Planning? As you already know, I am always planning something. Whether or not my plans should concern you, is an entire other thing."
Slade slowly walked across the overhang. "But, you're overstepping your bounds, and I'm not looking to deal with teenagers in tights. Leave. Run along back to your tower, and play hero. I'll have none of it here." Slade subtly pressed a few more buttons, sending the squads to the fronts of the warehouses. Robin wasn't one to go without a fight. He was too proud. Slade wasn't worried that he'd have to beat the pride out of that boy. Part of him was looking forward to it.
Robin hadn't expected Slade to give him any information, but the boy grit his teeth at the mocking tone the man held. The young leader did know that Slade was always planning something, and just as he knew that, he knew the Titans were going to stop him. "Whatever it is you're planning, we'll stop you," the boy warned stubbornly. "We've stopped you before!"
His eyes traced the man's movements as he walked across the overhang. It was true, Slade wasn't actually doing anything criminal at the moment, but that didn't mean he didn't have a record. If Robin could he would bring in the masked man and make him see justice. Plus, the Boy Wonder wasn't the sort of person to take orders from Slade. Robin had made that infinitely clear the last time the man had tried. "I'm not going anywhere, Slade," the walking traffic light informed the man with a dramatic slash of his arm to punctuate his seriousness. "You're going to jail."
Only not. Because this never worked. Still Robin dropped into a fighting stance and hoped the man would take the bait.
There it was: that headstrong determination that had brought down so many other criminals. "Tell me, Robin, do you ever get tired of failure? Do you ever get tired of always being one step behind me? You try so hard, yet you have nothing to show for your effort." If Robin wanted a fight, he'd get it. Slade pressed the final button for the robots to leave the warehouses. "I tire of the same old game, over and over." The bots piled into the road. "So... entertain me. Fight."

Slade's words hit a sore spot as the boy below him stiffened. Robin scowled up at the man, his masked gaze narrowing. "I don't follow your orders!" Robin retorted, glaring at the man who was telling him that he should be a good little trained monkey and fight. Of course, the boy didn't realize yet that he didn't have a choice in the matter. The young leader heard the robots before he saw them. There was the staccato marching of droids that wasn't at all like it sounded in the Clash of the Planet reruns the Titan boys would sometimes watch together. Didn't seem like a Jedi mind trick would help here either.
Robin didn't turn to look at the advancing robots. His gaze was for Slade and Slade alone. With a quick motion the boy pulled out his grapple hook and pulled himself out of the way of the robots, leaping up onto the rooftop besides Slade with a sharp clatter of steel boots on a steel roof. There was no time for subtlety. Robin charged forward with his bostaff extended, leaping upwards to strike at Slade's head from the left side. "Entertain this!" the boy shouted as he attacked.
He asked for entertainment. Slade watched the boy without a shred of interest in his eyes. Robin was fast approaching. If he timed it right... Slade watched the bots swarm closer to the overhang they were on. Slade watched the boy run forwards with his staff drawn. Momentum pointed to a strike from Slade's right. Experience with the Boy Wonder pointed to a leaping attack. It was time to act. Slade grabbed his own staff and expanded it as he swung. He parried Robin's blow, and swung the other end towards the boy's chest. All the while, the robots were climbing up to join the fray.
There was a clang of metal as Slade's staff smashed into Robin's with startling ferocity as the kid landed. The boy's upper lipped curled back in a snarl as he shoved against the other bostaff, springing backwards like a cat when the other end of Slade's staff suddenly swung towards his chest. The boy bounced backwards, springing off his hands and landing with a skid on the rooftop a few yards away. It was at this moment that he noticed that the robots were climbing up towards them to join the fight. They were standard Slade commandos, Robots that usually didn't stand a chance against Robin. Slade, though, Robin wasn't sure he could fight Slade and a small army of robots.
No time like the present to try. That didn't mean he wasn't going to hit the alert on his communicator and hope backup came, though. Robin pulled a birdarang out of his belt, flinging it at one of the nearest climbing robots as he charged back towards Slade again. He didn't have long before more Sladebots made it up onto the roof to outnumber him. His best bet was to try and take down Slade fast. The boy moved quickly feigning a blow towards Slade's mask and moving instead at the last moment to try to land a blow to the man's gut.
Robin is in trouble? Penumbra sat on a lofty spire near a factory when the call came through. He blinked and repeated that thought Robin is in trouble! And, for once, I'm close by. Without a second thought, he shot his grapple and swung off into the night. Although Penumbra and Robin had their differences, he didn't hold any malice towards him and genuinely wanted to help. The scene on the rooftop was a sight to behold as Robin valiantly charged his foe. We couldn't let him have all the fun, could we?
Penumbra landed on the rooftop with a crash. The sound of servos brought an expression of pained surprise to his face. Robots made his powers useless. Suddenly, this fight seemed a lot more difficult. With polished, practiced grace, he pulled his M1911 pistol and lined it up with the nearest Slade-bot's head before pulling the trigger.
Before landing on the roof, he already judged that it was in his best interests to keep his distance. So, keeping that tactic in mind, he backpedaled away from the group and led them along the rooftop, placing himself between them and Robin. The competition sights on top of the firearm sent each round straight and true to their targets. One-two-three the robot didn't drop, four five six seven the first humanoid figure hit the unforgiving roofing while Penumbra reloaded.
Despite being quick, they closed the distance. Penumbra had few options, so he kicked the closest Slade bot and started shooting it. One reached for his gun, so he stuck it under it's neck and pulled the trigger. That one sparked uncontrollably and flailed at Penumbra and the other Slade-bots. It violently pushed Penumbra into another group of Slade-bots, who then domino-ed over. Quickly, Penumbra resumed his position between them and Robin, he shouted over the din and kept brawling, gun going off periodically in whatever opening he could jam it, “I heard you needed a hand!”
OOC: If you aren't okay with the actions the robots took, we can edit this. I sort of assumed they'd brawl and not just let Penumbra mosey on in to Robin.

Like countless time as before and by coincidence, Kimber Fowl was one of the few lucky Teen Titans who was nearby when she got Robin signal. Yet, this time it was different. There was a sense of urgency and distress in the request for backup. Call her paranoid! But she can't put her mind at ease about it. Quickly, she dons on her uniform and heads out.
OCC: I think I remember Silv mention Robin sense out a distress signal right? But reading your previous post....now I'm not really sure. *Confuse*
Using her silver disk to glide through the air. She tracks down Robin signal to an old abandon warehouse. And it wasn't too hard to miss it. Mostly, thanks to the big swarm of mad-mechanical-robot-army, moving around the warehouse compounds. And she could be seeing things. But she swears, they kinda look like and reminded her of...
OMG! SLADE!?
Rubbing her eyes. She blinked and study the robot from afar. Again and again. Double checking and triple checking. And she was 100% sure, they belong to...one and only, Slade. Wait, does this mean? Could this be...? Was this whole compound? Probably Slade new secret base or headquarters? That would explain the tense feeling she had felt earlier. The thoughts of meeting and fighting Slade. Sank fear into her heart. Being reminded about his (Slade) eerie tales in the papers, news and straight off the Titans, who had fought him. They describe him as a villain, psychopath, sociopath, a man who represent...stand the true meaning of evil and last but not least, Robin worst nemesis.
Slapping both hands against her face.
'Kimber! Come on! Stay calm! You can do this! People are relying on you!'
She took in a deep breath and calm herself down. Clearing her mind and reminded herself about the task in hand. First, find Robin. Quickly, she started to scan him from the sky.
"Robin, where are you?" She asked and wonder what will she do next?
OCC: Somebody could try to shoot her out from the sky.
There used to be only five of them. Now the Titans sprung up like weeds. What kind of parents approved of their children running around in tights?
It was more important to focus on the task at hand. Slade put away his staff. Survey the scene, calculate options, and execute. Slade took in his surroundings as Robin jumped backwards. Another caped crusader... One in the air too. Robin appears to be preparing for a running attack. Slade pulled out his blaster, and kept it on standby. Robin's coming at a quick pace. The other one is keeping the bots at bay. Rather well. Focus on Robin. His speed either warrants another jump attack, which, after the first attempt, is illogical, or he's going for a direct hit. Pulling back a fist... Movements show lack of conviction, still maintaining speed. Fake blow. Most likely going to attack with a lower hit to slow himself down and throw me off. Move to intercept, then deal with the others.
Slade caught Robin's real blow, and backhanded the boy with his blaster. Slade turned, and fire a few shots at the one in the air. He quickly spun back towards the second one, and shot a few at him. Robin will be recovering now. Prepare for another attack.
Whilst Slade carried out his movements, his bots swarmed up to them. The bots abandoned their fallen kind, and ruthlessly fought towards Penumbra. A few attempted to jump him from behind, while a swarm came at him from the front. A group managed to slip by in the madness, and came towards Robin and Slade.
Slade's hand melded around Robin's smaller one, catching the blow the boy was trying to deal to the man's gut, and stopped the Titan leader in his tracks. Robin's masked eyes widened, but before he could react something hard smacked into the side of his face. He instantly tasted blood as he reeled backwards from the blow, nearly losing his grip on the staff in his hands. His teammates were arriving now, he could hear Penumbra's voice behind him, and Silvering's from above. Then Slade was shooting at her with the thing he'd originally hit Robin with. The boy hadn't realized it was a blaster until it was too late.
"SILVERWING WATCH OUT!" he cried as he focused his attention on the weapon in Slade's hand. He had to get the blaster away from Slade before the man hurt his teammates. He didn't have time to shout at Penumbra to watch for shots coming his way. Instead Robin charged at Slade again, the force of his staff's aim going for the blaster. "Silvering, Penumbra, take the Sladebots!" he shouted the order to his teammates as he twirled the staff as a distraction before aiming for Slade's side with a kick.
The narrow rooftop was difficult to maneuver around. A few slade-bots lay in pieces, but the rest were pushing Penumbra to the edge. There are too many! Run, Robin, RUN! he kept thinking, but he could hear the fight going on behind him. Suddenly, he noticed a familiar shape in the sky. Silverwing! He smiled and heard Robin scream. The next moment, he saw an energy blast pass by and she fell. Cursing, he turned just in time to see the light. Oh my go-
Weapons technology always seeks to beat armor. Armor always tries to protect the wearer. This arms race began long ago. Woven armor gave way to leather, so bronze swords became iron. Iron swords meant iron chain mail, and that made swords sharper, and pointier. Plate armor stopped all swords and polearms! Then, guns ruined that. Bullets go through almost anything, except ballistic plates. The other nice thing about ballistic plates are the fact they absorb heat well. Couple that with the nomex and kevlar Penumbra wore, and it made sure that the blaster hit didn't kill him. Instead, he discovered what it felt like to be a domino.
In a single moment, Penumbra saw the scene in slow motion as the blast of bright energy hit him. The first layers of nomex smoldered, followed by kevlar, and then the plate absorbed the energy. It glowed red-hot and melted out of the costume while the kinetic energy transferred to Penumbra's body. The blast knocked him backward into a group of Sladebots at cartoonish speeds, knocking them over like bowling pins. A loud crack came from his back as he landed. For a moment, he lay motionless...
Thankfully, the ballistic plates in the back of his costume broke and absorbed the energy that would have snapped his spine. He rolled over and yelled at Robin, "TRYING!" A part of Penumbra is loyal like a dog, so before he fought, he ran towards where Silverwing fell.

The roleplay takes place after the series end of the original Teen Titans animated show, but does not include the movie Trouble in Tokyo. Since then Robin has been on something of a recruiting spree, and many new young heroes have found themselves a home in Jump City as well as Titan Tower.
