Click-Clack-Click-Psssssssssssssssssshhhhhhhh....
The sound of the spray paint can being shaken and sprayed was music to the young man's ears. From the nozzle spewed aerosol paint black as the night sky Gideon was working under. The paint was not being used for art or plain graffiti, though. No, Gideon didn't fancy himself an artist at all. And he sure wasn't painting on a blank canvas.
Gideon was standing on the grating of a roadside billboard, painting over whatever vapid and useless advertisement was plastered on it with black paint. 'What was the point of these eyesores?' he had wondered. No one ever payed attention to them, they never convinced people to actually buy anything as far as he knew. So their only purpose was to trap people in a world of commercialism, surrounded by constant reminders to BUY and CONSUME and PURCHASE. Don't live, go spend your life buying products! OUR products! To him, these billboards were nothing more than giant monuments to the chokehold of greed and corruption that society was held in. Getting rid of these billboards would be one small step in a long journey towards breaking that hold. And Gideon was planning on making a lot of steps tonight. This was the fifth one he'd done just tonight.
Once the advertisement was sufficiently blacked out and obscured, Gideon picked up his duffel bag full of supplies, adjusted the dust and paint mask that sat on his lower face and began the climb down the scaffolding, satisfied with his work. His mission was far from over, but sticking around in one place was going to do him no favors. All that would get him is noticed by someone, possibly the cops. And we didn't need that, now did we?
Feet touching solid ground again, Gideon looked around for an escape route, or at least some way away from his recent masterpiece. Not too far in the distance, he spotted what looked like a doorway that led nowhere. Upon getting closer to it, Gideon recognized it as an entrance to the now abandoned subway system. That would work great! Potentially, he could get anywhere in Jump City from these tunnels! Wasn't he lucky? Gideon entered the subway system, hoping to find shelter and a swift exit. However, the further in he went, the more suspicious and paranoid he got. Didn't he hear something about shady characters hanging out in these tunnels?
"Better safe than sorry," Gideon thought, setting his duffel bag down for a moment and muttering something before being bathed in light as a suit of armor encased him.
Calibur reached down, picked his bag up again and was off on his merry way, confident that any shady characters down below here wouldn't be too keen on picking a fight with a knight. And if they did? Well, it wasn't like he couldn't handle them. At this point, Calibur felt more concerned about getting lost down here than he did about getting in a fight.
