A loud, somewhat nasally voice echoed across the stone walls, though the source was nowhere near the teens who all seemed to jolt up to it. Bright lights flickered as a holographic LCD image appeared before them, showing a large man with long, bright, flowing orange hair and sideburns. His wide unibrow was somewhat turned into a happy expression and his blue eyes were looking somewhat evil. On his face above his crooked smile and below his large chin were three triangular freckles. He was wearing a brown shirt and a black trenchcoat donning all kinds of pockets and a workbelt style sash across his chest. Brown pants and boots covered the rest of him and he finished the look with brown, fingerless gloves. He was holding his trademark remote, flipping his screen to all sides of the wall. "You'll notice that you are trapped underground. Try to dig or cheat my maze and Jump City'll go up in flames!" He waited for groans, comments, complaints, anything to feel that much more diabolical. "The goal is to get out of my maze. If you fail, you will watch the city burn up. If you succeed-" He cut himself off in pondering, "well you won't succeed!" He finished with more inflection in his voice.
"I have left you with all your powers and gadgets so be thankful for that much." The image flashed off the screen, leaving the Titans alone in the silent room.

Raven startled, jumping as the darkness around her suddenly lit up with the inglorious image of Control Freak. She scowled at the screens that hopped about as the man introduced his newest game. He'd been on her bad list for a while now, ever since he'd inspired the night that turned her own powers against her. Being stuck in a maze of his creation?
Didn't exactly help his status.
And he'd left them with their powers? As if he could take that away from her! He may have had a super cool remote and a collection of nerdy knowledge that would put Beast Boy to shame, but he wasn't that powerful....
Raven glanced around at her fellow Titans as the image mercifully shut off and they were left alone. "Well," she commented, meeting the eyes of some of them. "That was ambiguous. What next?"
OoC: Sooooo. Sorry bout the short post, but I didn't know who all was gonna be here, so it was a little tough working in interaction. XDXD
Sun was surprised when she found herself in an entirely new environment in a flash. One moment the star-girl was catching up on world news in the Titan living room, and the next one her plasma contracted as she found herself in a very confined space. Fran looked around. Other people around. She collapsed her star to increase the breathing space.
The large man then made his appearance. Sun narrowed her eyes. After the villain finished his speech and disappeared, she turned around to Raven. "I can try to melt through the ceiling..." Her star could definitely heat up to levels that would melt it. "But depending on how far up this goes.. well..." She looked up. Was there any way to know how deep underground they were? "The molten stuff has to go somewhere though." Which could make the tight space dangerous to all breathing things.
Looking ahead into the darkness of the maze, Sun felt like sighing. Instead, the star-girl started pulsing her star, letting the flashes of light guide the way ahead. "I guess we follow the mad man's maze?" She didn't sound enthusiastic.
Ghostdance gave a low rumbling growl at the sight or the cheeto-colored hair of his captor. "Sky and stone." he scowled. Despite the sudden appearance of a throbbing migraine he recognized the face almost immediately.
"You got to be kiddin' me...Control Geek? Didn't I break this losers remote once already?" he wondered quiet loudly to himself, purposely getting the name wrong, hoping the taunt would egg him into talking more. You kept him talking he wouldn't do something stupid. Something stupid like destroy the city. It wasn't much granted, but maybe he could at least weasel out a bit more information. His ears twiched, following the sound bounce along the cave walls. Why couldn't I be some sort of bat guy? he thought wistfully.
Somewhere in the back of his mind he vaguely pondered if this was sort of revenge plot. A pitiful attempt to get back at him for his awkward capture of him before. I don't think that's likely at all. Surely not every one here slighted him in some way that he would take it personally. And even if they did, why isn't Beetle guy here too? came a small voice of reason in the back of his head, fighting through the throbbing headache.
"Plus he said we can't dig. He can bring fictional characters to life. What's to stop him from bringing to life Godzilla and King Gadora to have a battle royal?" he growls , letting his wolf-like eyes adjust to the dark. "We are stuck in a strange place with no memory of how we got here or how to get out. So I think before we play Theseus to his minotaur we should figure out what we do know and what we need to know." he said, sitting cross legged. "We are deep underground. We should assume unstable conditions and a chance of low oxygen, cave hazards n' stuff. We should assume that it will be easy to get lost and there are obstacles in our way. We should also assume we are being seen and heard at all times. He would need some way so insure we're not cheating. I find the idea of a double bluff highly unlikely. So we're gonna need to play by his rules for now." The magical beast said, slowly rising to his clawed feet. "We're gonna need a none flammable light source, some way to mark our trail, and a way to tell which direction to go. I have chalk so I can at least mark our path. Unfortunately I lack the supplies to summon a gnome or this would be a cake walk. But who knows, maybe we'll meet some Tommyknockers or somethin' ." he said in a false hopeful tone. "But hopefully I can dowse if we need too. " he said groping in his pockets to make sure he had it "And also note that he's a giant pervert, I WILL get beck my hoodie. Also, one last thing...we should assume that he can do whatever he did to trap us down here in the first place he can do again. So stick together, whatever happens."
Last thing Elliot remembered doing was relaxing back at Hive Five’s headquarters playing video games with Seemore and now as he slowly came to his senses he awoke with a stretch of his arms. Eyes blinking he gazed all around. “Huh? Where am I? What is this place?” he managed to choke out to no one in particular. “Ow, my head” he said with a groan. Getting a major splitting headache he rubbed it.
Grumbling, he slowly crawled back to his feet. Once on his feet he dusted himself off wondering just how he got there for he could really remember nothing…just playing videogames. But since when did a videogame poof you anywhere? Then he thought that perhaps he teleported himself in his sleep. But no that couldn’t be for he saw he wasn’t alone in this strange place.
For off to the side he spotted a small group of Titans all gathered around what appeared to be some sort of hologram of a nerdy looking man in a black trenchcoat. ‘Probably trying to look cool,’ Kyd thought with an amused smirk. “Control…Freak,” he whispered as he neared the hologram. The teleporter could hardly believe his eyes, but yes the hologram truly was that fat nerd he heard so much about. “What is going on here? Why did you capture me?” the young half demon demanded, confused. After all, he isn’t a Titan. He’s a villain much like Control, so why…? Was it possible Control did it just to be mean to him or was it an honest mistake? Recognizing that the remote holding nerdy villain was not the sharpest tool in the shed Kyd wouldn’t put it past the guy to have made such a grave error. So if it is a mistake Kyd hoped Control would swallow his pride, admit he was wrong to capture him and let him go. But before he could ask Control to release him the remote wielding villain pretty much stated that he and the Titans were currently in a maze and to keep Jump City from falling apart they had to get out of it. ‘Okay, sounds easy enough,’ Kyd thought arrogantly crossing his arms.
At Control’s mentioning of a slight change to their usual garb Kyd just casually glanced down and noticed that instead of his usual light and dark purple set-up he was now wearing yellow, orange and white. Slightly agitated by this Kyd made a face. Still, he did see the whole uniform thing coming. After all, from the stories he has heard of Control, the dude was a real nerd and the nerds just love the uniforms. It’s almost like a fad or a requirement for nerds to be all orderly with uniforms. Instinctively he reached for his head and breathed a sigh of relief once he realized his ‘bat ears’ were still there, undisturbed and he noticed his cape remained intact. But really his purple items definitely clashed with Control Freak’s uniform colors.
This…this whole thing was not going to sit well with the young criminal. Bad enough he had to wear these god ugly colors, but now he was trapped in a maze with the Teen Titans. Ugh, how could this possibly get any worse? And these thoughts entered Kyd’s mind around the same time a Titan he didn’t recognize started to use her…fire powers to melt the ceiling. ‘Uh, did she not hear what the crazy fruit loop just said about digging?’ Kyd thought. ‘Looks like someone is a little too trigger happy and doesn’t know how to listen. That is it I am so not going with little miss fire bug,’ the teleporter thought to himself.
He would have verbally called her out on it, but yet another new Titan beat him to it. This guy looked a lot like a werewolf. Kyd made a mental note not to anger the guy too much. But two new Titans weren’t the only ones there standing around. Raven too was there being all quiet and mysterious like usual.
The wolf man spoke again stating how they needed to stick together. Elliot snorted. There was no way in hell he was going to follow the Titans around like a lost puppy nor was he going to rely on them for help. After all, what was to stop them from arresting him at the end of this maze?
Glancing back at the hologram Kyd saw that Control had left, left him all alone with Titans. ‘Great,’ thought Kyd sarcastically, ‘just great.’ “Honestly, I have no idea why I am even here with you guys…” admitted Kyd revealing that he was not in cahoots with Control Freak. “But, I don’t want to die, so if it’s all the same to you guys I’m just gonna start on walking,” Kyd arrogantly stated before he turned on his heel to walk away from the wolf guy; which probably wasn’t the smartest move.
I awoke from my daily nap only to find that I was no longer in Kansas so to speak. My yellow catlike eyes widened as I took in my surroundings. Glancing down I noticed I was no longer wearing lucky green. But instead yellow, orange and white clothing consumed me. Disgusted, I made a face. However, I did notice that whoever kidnapped me and…and changed my clothes… Okay, I’m not even going to think about that, I told myself with a shiver. Not even going to go there. But anyway, they were kind enough to leave me with my signature green fedora, my matching green scarf and my signature weapons. Still, I couldn’t help feeling naked. My clothes were just all so wrong and worst of all I absolutely despised yellow. For some reason the color of it always reminded me of something most unpleasant.
Where am I, I thought to myself as my cat ears fell to the side of my head. For a few moments I stood there deep in thought before a familiar voice caught my attention. “Control Freak?” I whispered softly and following his voice I ended up to where a small group of Titans stood along with a minor criminal, Kyd. I froze because Sapphire and Raven were there and after everything that I did, after everything that’s happened I felt certain I was probably the last person any of them wanted to see. But, I would worry about them later. Right now I just needed to focus on escaping. I couldn’t believe it though. I couldn’t believe that I had allowed myself to be ambushed by such a nerdy, diminutive man. What is wrong with me?
But there in the corner of the cave appeared Control Freak not in the flesh, but in all his nerdish holographic glory and he spoke, shouting orders at us, pretty much expecting us to play his sick little game. Uninterested I just glared at the hologram. “Three words Control Dork, no fucking way! There is no way you can get me to play along!” I hissed stubbornly with crossed arms. But just as quickly as it appeared Control Freak’s hologram vanished leaving us all alone and me fuming.
Sighing I turned to the others. “Okay, so no digging and no cheating… Damn, why does this guy have to take the fun out of everything?” I complained with a moan. After a wolfish looking teen reminded a girl I had never seen before of tubby’s rules another irritated groan escaped my lips. “Looks like, we’ll have to work together then…”
Already I noticed that the wolfish teen rambled quite a bit and I sensed it was because he was nervous. If I knew him I would have placed a comforting hand on his shoulder, but because I did not… “Hey, it’ll be okay. We can get out of this. We just need to do as you suggested and stick together is all,” I told him reassuringly.
When the teen mentioned them needing a light source I decided to volunteer my eyes that were already glowing against the cave’s darkness. A small smile crossed my lips. “A light source? I think I got you covered there. Will my eyes do?” I asked, shining my eyes just past the boy that I never met before.
A giggle escaped my throat when he mentioned that Control was a major pervert. I’d have to agree with him there. “You can say that again, the sicko…” I may not know this guy, but already I liked his style. “So, what’s your name kid?” I asked, forgetting that I looked sixteen. This was likely due to me not being on the team for quite some time now and so I just sort of forgot that I was no longer an adult.
My yellow eyes then noticed Kyd Wykkyd sneaking away and I glared at him. Coward. “And where do you think you are going?” I hissed, now shining my glowing eyes on him. Kyd stopped short. “Uh….out,” the minor criminal answered sheepishly. To this I rolled my eyes. “Weren’t you listening? We have to stick together to escape!”
It wasn't often Sapphire got the pleasantry of waking up and of course when she did, she felt relaxed, albeit a little dizzy. Picking herself off the floor, she grunted as her body felt heavy. Clearly the mad couch potato had used some sort of outside agent to silence her. Thankfully, she wasn't the only one there.
Maybe it would have been better if she was.
Who would be standing there of all the people she didn't want to see in the world (and admittedly, that list was quite long.)? Who should be there but her ex-boyfriend.
Control Freak, you moron, if you think he'll play your game he won't, he'll get our city destroyed! Sapphire cursed to herself, obviously not trusting Reflecto's presence in the slightest. By not bothering to look at him, she hoped he'd get the hint and steer clear of her.
So far so good.
It took her a moment to realize it but her outfit was completely changed. Orange and white striped shirt, yellow jeans, white sneakers. Definitely not Sapphire. She was grateful at least that he left her hair clip and gloves. But still, that pervert has changed her clothes. He was going to pay for that. Her reply to the wolf boy came shortly after that.
"Stick together? There are six paths in front of us. If one is a trap, do you want us all stuck in it? We should split up. That way the causalities are not so great." Alright so her priorities weren't entirely straight. But she wasn't done yet. "I'm going for path four. What better way to utilize my powers than to light up the darkest path. Besides, the best things tend to be hidden in the dark so they say. Let us test that theory out."
The girl finished defiantly as she made her way over to the entrance of the long and narrow hallway. Lighting up her left hand, she stood at the darkened opening, waiting for a cue. Before that, she shouted down the hall.
"You damn fool! Come and bring whatever horrors you desire! I will not be afraid!"
"Ambiguous, but unimpressive." yawned Speedy in response to his Azarathian Princess, possibly wasting what precious oxygen they had down here if Lang's analysis was correct.
Since teaming up with Titans Main here in Jump, many more strange things had happened to him here such that randomly waking up in one of Control Freak's designs wasn't a cause for alarm. "Peeeople, people. Remember last month, when Mad Mod and Solomon Grundy invited all of Jump to their special zombie re-enactment of the Civil War titled, 'The British Are Coming The British Are Coming--Apart!'? This'll be a cakewalk compared to that rot." Speedy wasn't surprised by anything anymore.
Well.
It hadn't gotten too weird yet, at least.
"Thanks for the break-down, Furrb!" Speedy waited until Ghostdance was finished moseying through his logical observations before addressing him. It didn't take long to decide on wolfboy's nickname for the event, considering the archer's own set of uni-threads, feeling very Phineas in the ensemble.
" I know what we're gonna do today! Show-And-Tell, minus the Tell part. Light source? I think Sun'n 'Pphire have that covered. Non-flammable? Hold that thought."
Speedy listened to the others' plans and ideas too, sitting against one wall of the maze cross-legged between Sun and Raven. He still retained his mask, utility belt, quiver and bow, which he was very happy about. Depending on the specialty arrows he'd packed previous to being trapped in this predicament, whichever group he was split into (as it looked like they would be forced to split up due to Sapphire's impetuousness and additional observations) had a very good chance of making it through unscathed.
"Reflecto--Wait, where've YOU been, guy? Haven't seen you around for a while! Speedy was treating this whole thing like a community picnic, greeting old friends, greeting old-friends he hadn't been informed were now new enemies. When the Reflecto betrayal chronicles had gone down, he'd been called back to Steel with Aqualad.
"..anyway. Reffles-chips there seems to have a solid setta headlights. Flammable-sources: 2, Non-flammable: 1." The archer mock-saluted the ironically non-comrade cat-man.
Somehow, a villain had been lumped together in their impromptu Titan gathering (he wasn't counting Reflecto), but it seemed Wykkyd was ready to set off down one of the six paths Sapphire was raging about and keep to himself for now.
And when the cat-girl raged, she wild-fired. Already talking casualties, Speedy laughed lightly and somewhat nervously, as the prospect of some of them being killed down here settled unwelcomely in the midst of his carefree attitude. "Slow down, Wild-'pphire! No one's ticket out o'here is death if we keep cool heads here. I like the cover more ground approach though, good call on splitting up." Speedy had gotten up, and patted the overexcited Sapphire's shoulder in what he hoped was a calming manner.
"Chalk's dandykeen for breadcrumbin', Furrb, and we've all got T-Comms. too for inter-squad'mmunications. With the exception of Batman over there." he finished, jerking his thumb over at Kyd, borrowing Beast Boy's nickname for the quiet bat-eared-Elliot.
"So, when you're done makin' nice with the invisible neighbours down the street, let's the rest of us get moving, shall we? Hoodies to relocate, Cities to safegua--a-aaah--aaauuuugh!" He made his way back over to Raven's side in Sun's soft glow, nudging Sapphire by accident, tripping over "Furrb's" knee and Reflecto's foot on the way, and landing upside-down on his back propped on the wall against which he'd started at, peering into the darkness excluded from Sun's radiance and Sapphire's hand.
"Ahem..As soon as we're sure who's all here, that is."
It was dark. Why was it dark? He didn't remember it being dark. Hadn't it been daylight...some such hours ago? Wait, did he even remember what time it was? And how in the world did he get into a frightening orange-and-white shirt and yellow pants? He looked like a Mexican gangbanger fresh out of the joint.
A dim light began to infuse the area, forcing Jaime Reyes to cover his eyes with his arms and groan pathetically. He felt pretty darn weird. Like he had been drugged. Or knocked out or something. "Wha? Whassgoin'on?" he slurred sleepily, forcing himself to wake up and stagger to his feet. He barely caught most of what Control Freak was saying--how did that guy's face get so big?--but when he finally did manage to comprehend their situation (and the fact that Control Freak had simply been projecting himself holographically), his tanned skin blanched slightly in horror. "How did this happen?" he muttered to himself, rubbing his temples with his fingers to chase away the last of the headache haunting his system.
Recall, Jaime Reyes. You allowed the Control Freak to ambush us and place us in this unknown place.
"I am sure I didn't allow something like this, escarabajo," Jaime retorted, glancing down at his brightly coloring clothing with a grimace. How had he gotten into these, again?
The dazed and confused Mexican looked around the dimly lit maze, trying to see who else he was stuck underground with. There was Sun, a girl he didn't know--probably a new team member--who was the one giving off the light. Well he had to hand it to her; she was certainly handy in this situation. Raven was there too, being calm and mysterious. Ghostdance was there, babbling about something or other--Jaime was still waking up a bit--but he was pretty sure some of it mentioned sticking together. Kyd Wykkyd was with them too, though how he had gotten stuck with a bunch of the Teen Titans, Jaime wasn't so sure. He was content to let the little cloaked bugger run off, though, had not Reflecto stopped him and emphasized the importance of sticking together.
Wait. Reflecto?
Jaime felt his hot Latino blood begin to boil at the sight of the cat man. Oh all the people he had to get stuck in an underground maze with, it just had to be Reflecto. And then he heard Sapphire belay the whole "stay together" plan with one of her own. And then she proceeded to flare up and scream bloody murder at one of the tunnels. Oh no. He was going to get cooked alive inside his Blue Beetle shell--and it wouldn't be because of the maze.
Well, at least Control Freak had said they had been allowed their abilities in this maze. Right?
Affirmative. I am functioning at full capacity.
"Well, that's encouraging," Jaime muttered, not too convincingly.
Scanning for threat.
"Or not," he huffed, rolling his eyes. He watched as Speedy proceeded to attempt to calm down Sapphire--Speedy was here too?--and then trip right over Ghostdance's foot. Wincing in sympathy for the unfortunate archer, the Mexican wandered over to his fallen teammate and offered him a hand so he could get back up. While avoiding Sapphire and Reflecto as much as possible. He preferred to not get into a fistfight while stuck underground. Or get burnt to a crisp.
After helping Speedy to his feet, Jaime looked around for the teammate who seemed to have the most sense. Judging by who he knew, and her current behavior in the panic-inducing situation, that was Raven. Making his way over to the Azarathian, who had been mostly silent throughout the entire debacle, he cleared his throat and said, "So, you have any ideas? Or are you just gonna sit back and watch? Or...something."
Kyd nodded at Sapphire. “Makes sense to me. I like the way you think…” the villainous teleporter mused. “If you take four I shall take…” Kyd then stood there and in Beast Boy form went enie minnie mini moe until his finger stopped on the very last path. “Alright Titans I am going through this one, so if you have a problem with that tough luck cause I’m not changing my mind,” he said rather bratily.
Reflecto only smirked at him. “Did you seriously pick that path just by going enie minnie mini moe?” the telepathic cat man teased.
The teleporter just crossed his arms scowling. “So what if I did? There’s a good chance it is a good path,” Kyd insisted.
The cat man threw up his hands in surrender style. “Whatever you say. All I know is we can’t rely on luck and pure chance on this one,” admitted the cat man.
Kyd glared. “Yeah, well what do you expect we do?”
Shaking his head Reflecto said, “we need to exploit whatever skills we possess that is allowed within Control Freak’s rules if we ever hope to escape.” The cat man then looked at Sapphire after she proclaimed she was going down the darkest path. He sighed at her. She really could be so stubborn sometimes. “Then let me go with you. I can help,” Reflecto offered softly. “And besides I don’t want you to blow up. My eyes aren’t flammable as your fire is. Please, allow me to light up this path, so we can both see without blowing ourselves up,” he added, concerned for Sapphire’s safety. The offer was genuine and he had no ulterior motive. It wasn’t as if he had allowed himself to get kidnapped by the perverted Control Freak.
Reflecto then frowned once he was greeted by Speedy. It wasn’t like he didn’t want to see the ginger archer again. On the contrary, he truly did miss the arrow wielding whom he viewed as a friend. It was just that after leaving the Titans he felt very awkward with him standing there since he obviously had not been informed of the telepath’s less than loyal status. “Uh, hey there Speedz. I uh I’ve been…around. You just keep missing me I guess,” Reflecto awkwardly said with forced laugh. Yeah, he has been around alright. On the opposite side of the team.
Once Speedy mentioned them all have T-Comms except for Kyd Wykkyd the telepath just lowered his head. “And me,” he whispered quietly in admission. After that he really wanted to reveal all to Speedy. He really did, but he wasn’t sure how to word it and things were only made even more complicated with a villain standing right there and Control Freak likely spying on them, hearing their every word. But perhaps he could tell the archer telepathically. Somehow he doubted Speedy could mind block him. ‘Speedy, can you hear me? Oh, what am I saying? Of course you can! I am in your thoughts! Speedy, I don’t know how to tell you this, but the reason you haven’t seen me in the tower lately is because…because I…left. I don’t know what got into me. I just left the team…’ Reflecto telepathically informed the ginger archer not really wanting to get into why he left. “I am…so sorry,” Reflecto whispered.
Kyd Wykkyd only scowled at the nickname Speedy had given him, but said nothing.
Speedy then tripped over Reflecto and Ghostdance causing Reflecto to grab hold of his foot and rub it. “Ow, ow, damn! It seems you could use your own light source Speedz,” the telepath said with a shake of his head. Maybe Raven can help him. Likely those two were going down a path together.
In response to all of Sapphire’s yelling Reflecto just slowly approached her side though he dared not touch her since she seemed so angry. He didn’t want to get burned…literally. “Please Sapphire, we really shouldn’t do or say anything to provoke Control Freak… No telling what he’ll do if…if we don’t play along…” Reflecto said unable to believe that he himself had spoken those very words. It just seemed strange that he of all people had said that.
Amongst all the chaos Reflecto noticed Jaime happened to be there too. ‘Damn it Control, you would put us here altogether,’ Reflecto, agitated, mentally cursed. Sighing he looked at him. “Control caught you too I see…” he simply stated pretty much just stating the obvious though one could tell by his tone that the telepath was less than thrilled to see Jaime there.

Vincent's eyes shot open the moment he heard unfamiliar voices all around him. His body ached as he had been sitting against the wall in a very uncomfortable position, and he had not recollection of having fallen asleep in a place like this. There was absolutely nothing that could give him a clue as to where he was at the moment. Vincent blinked his eyes to adjust to the light coming from the holographic screen. He did not recognize the man that was speaking, but the man had no problem taking credit for putting them in this situation. And they were to simply find their way out of this maze? Simple enough, but the feeling Vincent had told him the task ahead of them would be a very dangerous one.
The screen flashed off, and the lighting in the room dimmed considerably. Almost all of Vincent was blanketed in darkness, and he would remain there for some time. He did not recognize anyone else that was in the room with him. His time had been short in this new world, and finding a way to survive had been more important than anything else. Otherwise, Vincent would have known of these Titans the man had spoken of when he greeted them all. His eyes focused on the werewolf that was speaking. Was it a werewolf? Vincent had no idea, but he would still be cautious. There was no telling what this group of people was capable of doing. The man had said something about leaving them with their powers, so that could only mean everyone else in this room was capable of some unique ability. Vincent did not feel anything similar to the power within him, and that confused him even more.
There seemed to be little agreement in what course of action was going to be taken, and Vincent had to wonder how everyone had been picked. Was the real motive here to fuel the animosity that was readily displayed? If so, it did not seem like that would take much to push the anger over its limits. Oh well. Vincent had listened enough to their talking. They could only plan so much before action had to be taken.
He ran his hand through his hair as he sighed and realized his hood was gone. Now that was not something Vincent was about to allow. Vincent stood up and breathed in deeply as he focused his energy. There was a dim flash of silver energy as his hooded cloak materialized around his body. Something had caused the cloak to turn an orange color, and Vincent figured it had to do with something in this place. No matter. Vincent pulled his hood over to hide his features and immediately felt secure regardless of what he was about to face in this maze.
"I am not exactly sure why I was pulled down here... but I will do what I can to help," Vincent called out as he stepped out of the darkness into the dim lighting provided by one of the girls. He hoped they would not consider him a threat as he was currently unarmed. Vincent figured he would keep that hidden until he required his blade.
"Call me V," he added, remembering that they would have no idea who he was as he had no idea about them. Vincent was grateful for his cloak as he could look over everyone and not worry about them seeing his eyes wander around. He was simply curious as to everyone. His eyes did linger longer on the werewolf and the witch before taking note of everyone else.
"As for our light problem, these should help."
Vincent held his left hand forward as energy focused at the tips of his fingers. The small orbs shot up from his hand and expanded into orbs the size of baseballs. They were small but gave off enough light that vision would not be a problem in the immediate area. The only problem would be they would have to follow Vincent or else they would dissipate after moving so far away from him.
The thought of the Zombie Apocolypse as played out by Mad Mod brought a reminiscent smile halfway to Raven's lips. Granted, Mad Mod was a villain, and he'd had to be arrested in the end, but.... She'd admired that fight. It was creative, if nothing else. And fun.
She wondered if she could say the same about Control Freak. Catching a young villain along with a group of Titans was certainly a twist in its own rite, but what was the point of this maze to begin with? He got bored of the regularly scheduled programming? And whatwaswiththisclothing?! Raven flushed in anger upon realizing her normal Woolite-approved uniform was no longer. She was wearing the worst colours in the world, obviously not being black, and the thought tripped across her mind. When had her uniform been exchanged for this?! Not a happy thought.
At least she could still hide under her cloak.
She nodded to Sun as the girl suggested tunneling up and consequently thought it the rest of the way through and decided against it. Ghostdance was next up, laying out every detail perfectly, and speaking volumes about them all. Raven listened attentively to his thoughts and ideas, leaned against the wall beside Sun and Speedy. She continued to watch silently when Reflecto made his presence known and Sapphire went mental on the hidden threats in Tunnel Four. When Ghostdance stood up again, when Kyd went halfway AWOL. When Speedy tripped on three people at once and sprawled at her feet.
.... .... .... ....
This entire operation was doomed. Where the frick was Robin?!
She began to reach out for Speedy's hand, but Blue Beetle got there first, and Raven met his eyes in thanks. "I have some ideas," she answered his question, once Speedy was settled back against the wall. "Regardless of where we are, regardless of who we're with--" Here she paid a small glance to Reflecto and Kyd Wykkyd, the resident outsiders of this current get-together--"We are still Titans. We should act as such. If we are to split up and cover ground more easily? We should do it in teams." She thought about her words for a minute, amended herself. "Compatible teams."
Here, Vincent stepped forward, revealing yet another stranger caught among them. He held up his hand, produced a gang of glowing orbs, and Raven nodded, impressed.
"V's team has solved the light problem," she said. "Anyone else going to join us?" She all but blatantly claimed Vincent into her little group of explorers, and then glanced around at everyone else in turn, her gaze lingering down on Speedy last, eyebrows raised.
He was right about one thing. The sooner they got moving, the sooner they'd get out, the sooner she could knock Control Freak into next Tuesday. She couldn't wait.
OoC: Guys, I'm so sorry, I feel like I rushed through this post. But there was just so much to adress! and I hadda get Raven back in the game. I almost got myself left behind. XDXD Soooooo, there! There, now she's no longer being relatively silent. Lollol
There was a checklist of things that had to be done whenever Robin woke up in an unfamiliar place, especially on the ground. The Boy Wonder didn't seem to move for awhile, shifting each part of his body separately before he slowly sat up and took in his surroundings. Nothing was broken, but that still didn't explain where he was. By then Control Freak was already talking at them. So this was another of those Ahaha I am a horrible evil villain and I have trapped you within a maze which you will never get out of because I have made it the maziest of mazes, that is, a labyrinth of terror and it's ever winding tunnels will have you dazed and confused because I am MOJO J- wrong cartoon. The Boy Wonder let out a sigh and slowly got to his feet.
It was then that he realized he'd made the transformation from traffic light to traffic cone. While he was happy to still have his utility belt he was not pleased to look like he'd suddenly popped out of a Disney cartoon along with the others. Seriously Control Freak? Did the man have no other hobbies? Although, he had to admit that a lot of the villains liked to dress up the Titans: Mother Mae Eye and her get-ups, Mad Mod and his emperor’s new clothes style, and Robin would never, ever forget having to dress like a Slade mini-me. That had been the worst one.
The others were starting to converge and the natives were getting restless. There were two members of the party that Robin could see automatically wouldn't be very popular. He'd deal with it, though. He was their fearless leader after all. By the time he made it over to the others, escaping their notice probably due to the lack of his classic ensemble, the Boy Wonder had already heard and took note of a few of the thrown out suggestions. They were valid ideas, but Robin knew about being stuck in subterranean tunnels probably better than any of the others.
When it came to being in a maze of sewers there were rules you followed. The first was that you stayed together. The second was that you did not panic. The third was that you stayed methodical and calm – it kinda went along with the first one, but hey, whatever. Lastly, it was a good idea to mark where you had been. This wasn't exactly a sewer but the same sorts of rules applied. And Ghostdance had chalk, his slew of glow-in-the-dark Titans had lights covered. They were in a pretty good place.
“We're not splitting up and nobody is dying.” his voice marked him out as Robin even if his clothing made him look stupid. He came forward into the group, his shoulders back and standing as tall as he could manage. "We're going to play his game, kick his butt, and go home," he told the team, his green gloved hand tightening into a fist.
“I've had to hunt down criminals in the sewers of Gotham with Batman before. If we split up we aren't going to find each other again. the boy's attention turned to the wolf-man. “Ghostdance, you are in charge of marking where we have been with your chalk. Sapphire, I want you, Reflecto and him” Kyd Wykyd didn't get a name, simply a sour expression and a gesture, “in the front with me.” It wasn't because he didn't trust them to behave themselves. It was because...naw, he totally didn't trust them.
“Blue Beetle, Sun and Ghostdance I want you in the middle. Ghostdance make sure you mark anytime we turn a corner or pass an entrance.” the leader ordered. “Speedy, Raven, and you,” he gestured to the kid with the light orbs who he didn't know. Raven seemed to trust the kid though, so that was good enough for him. “I don't know your name. Hi. I'm Robin. Anyway, I want you all on rear guard.”
Orders doled out the boy turned to survey their options. There were six tunnels in front of him, some dark, some not. “We move methodically from right to left. We always take to the right if there is a fork in the tunnels. If we hit a dead end it might take more time to double back but it's better than losing half the team.” he dared any of the others to disagree with him. “Let's go!” since there were non-Titans around he modified his catchphrase a little.
Sun remained quiet as one after the other, people started forming plans. She nodded to some, shook her heads about others. There were a lot of people she didn't recognize and so ultimately Robin's orders were the ones she followed. She kept her pulses going, making sure they had a good light-range, even if only by brief flashes.
Robin decided to go from right to left. That was probably a good idea, given that control freak probably expected them to take the natural route -left to right- and hence this increase their odds of getting out earlier. Sun was placed in the center of the group. That was fine with her. She could protect most of the group by expanding her star should something appear.
"Let's go!" As if on a cue, the group started moving: the right tunnel first. The didn't step further than a few dozen yards when it started getting tighter again. pursing her lips together, Sun contracted her plasma. "Let's not seal the air way." Besides that, nothing exciting happened. Minus the bickering of the makeshift extended Titan team.
As he listened to the methodical plan Robin's voice was laying out, Speedy wasn't put out in the least that true leader material had at last arrived. He had still been getting sick of waiting for his eyes to adjust, and had been all too ready to split up into groups to cover more ground and get the heck out of here.
Listening to the plan however, sticking together seemed the best way to avoid needless possible death (as Sapphire had been much too ready to plunge into) within the exceptional darkness of Path 4, among other less serious outcomes.
"Robbers! What took ya so long, eh? Speak up sooner; we've been flounderin' here."
'We'?
Way to throw them all under the bus with his own uselessness.
A hand helped him up, and he grinned sheepishly at the friendly Beetle-boy, chuckling apologetically to the others he'd tripped over, still a bit confused at Reflecto's answer to where he'd been off to, but saying nothing for the time being.
"Much-os Thanks-os, brosepho." Alright, so he didn't specialize in Spanish. His two favourite but annoying speedster-twins back in Steel had turned him off from the language, but the laid-back Latino's easy code-switching didn't bother him in the slightest.
Who could tell? If they got to know each other well enough, he might even pick up a few choice words to shock Mas y Menos the next time he saw them.
Something in Speedy's chest tightened as he looked away from Jaime, and thought about his original team as he was assigned his temporary underground one.
He really missed those little guys. When was the last time he'd been home?
He...would see them all again, right?
It was so dark down here he was finding it hard to believe he'd ever see anything again.
Thus, it was rather uplifting when Robin assigned the second-best walking nightlight (besides Sun, or course) to his squad; his very literal presence would bring a light of hope back to shine away the heart-ailing archer’s momentary unease.
Hadn’t he met this guy briefly? He was a friend of Starfire’s or something. They’d braided his long flowing hair once in the Common Room! Was the guy a Titan now, too? When did that happen!?
First Reflecto’s dubious absence, now this?
Speedy resolved to really keep up with current events, as he dusted off the seat of his lemon-pants and swished his hands through Vincent’s hair for old time’s sake in greeting, at once cheered.
“Youuu ungrateful liddle fox! After all we’ve been through together…you oughta be shame-faced. I’ve never been picked last for a team. Don’t make it a habit~.”
Cheered enough to rib Raven for her squad preferences, through both his words and a slight nudge at her ribcage, false pout and all. It probably didn’t show up too well in the dark.
When all was said and done though, they were dealing with Control Freak of all villains.
And he was a joke.
"Alright kiddos, forward march, Heart o’Darkness here we come." Speedy fell in line between Rae and Vince, and had his bow poised, a Stun Arrow at the ready in case they came face to face with an aggressive surprise in the darkness ahead.

The roleplay takes place after the series end of the original Teen Titans animated show, but does not include the movie Trouble in Tokyo. Since then Robin has been on something of a recruiting spree, and many new young heroes have found themselves a home in Jump City as well as Titan Tower.
