Lately I've been thinking about investing in an art tablet, but between Bamboo-zzling products && otherwise Wacom-aniacal choices I've just no idea how to start. I see prices range from about $90-$3000, and that's some mad discrepancy. I might add a poll to this later, or make a new thread'f'I cant figure out how to add one to THIS thread. x'D Butbut what're some'a the tablets, add-ons (like SAI Painter'n such, whatever that is) that YOU all use, have used, want to use, want to own, etc?
Keep in mind, I'm thinking of going to art school for Animation after undergrad, or at least getting /into/ animation since many animators don't necessarily start with a 'degree' in Animation, I've slightly researched by now. So, what tablets do they ask you artsypeoples such as GraphicDez, for a student, at least? As I consult the schools I'm looking into simultaneously.
Throw me some food fer thought 'ere. c: Thanks, palys.
This is the one I use, and I'm very happy with it. Program-wise I just use GIMP (the tablet comes with a beginner version of SAI painter though). Keep in mind I'm doing this 100% as a hobby and am a complete beginner, so take my advice with a grain of salt.
To be completely honest, Kenners, paper, pencil, and a light box is probably the best tool you can use for starting animation. Unless you're gunna be doing fancy 3D stuff or non-fancy traditional 3D stuff.
BUT! If you're gunna buy a tablet: I have a bunch of friends who are painters and concept artists. Painting on the computer is their life. From what I've heard Bamboos might be cheaper, but they break more easily and aren't as good as a Wacom. Of course, if you're super careful with your Bamboo and take awesome care of it, it can probably be just as good a tablet. It's just all of my friends swear by Wacom.
Size-wise, you probably want a medium or small one. Too big and it's bulky and awkward and you don't want to use it. Most of my friends who are SRSBSNESS >| painters have medium sized ones.
As for the program you paint in. If you want it to be versatile enough for painting and animating you want Photoshop. Hands down. We animated in photoshop in my classes. After Effects is another really nice program for animation. But not painting.
Deviant art always gave out the good stuff, and they gave wacom tablets... Ive been after one since I knew about the XD so with out any experience at all, judging on that Id go wacom.
Ooo. Thanks for all the great feedback so far, guys! I'll letchya know if I look inta some specs for the proposed, and just wanted to letchya know I'm watching this and WILL continue to be watching this in case others post more ideas. C: You're a huge help.

The roleplay takes place after the series end of the original Teen Titans animated show, but does not include the movie Trouble in Tokyo. Since then Robin has been on something of a recruiting spree, and many new young heroes have found themselves a home in Jump City as well as Titan Tower.
