Today's order was an interesting one. Hellsmith bustled about, getting his forge ready. Everything had to be perfect. It wasn't every day you got a special order like this. Hellsmith went to his freezer, taking out a bag of ice. It had been prepared just right, partially melted and then re-frozen so it was just one gigantic clump. He set it down near the forge nodding in approval. Everything was in place. He was pretty proud of himself already, and he hadn't even done anything yet.
It never even crossed Hellsmith's mind that someone might be watching. He just went about his work, happily humming. In a flash of red light he took on his true form, a towering demon with blood-red skin. The smith took up his hammer, dumping the block of ice onto the anvil. He started working it, shaping the material as though it were iron. With surprising speed, a sword started to take shape.
Hellsmith's situational awareness had never been anything to write home about. He could see what was in front of him, but picking up on sneaks was really outside his skill set. He was blissfully unaware as the paper user lurked around his workshop. His eyes were on his anvil, and any noise she might have made was drowned out by the sound of him hammering the lump of ice into a blade. Defying the laws of physics could be noisy work.
Hellsmith took the blade off the anvil, sticking it into the fire. Paradoxically, the flames hardened the material, like cooling steel by sticking it in water. The blade was tempered, cold to the touch but not melting from the heat of his hand. The demon turned the weapon over, examining it. It had come out pretty well. He grinned, congratulating himself on a job well done.
He turned, walking straight towards Paige's hiding place. He sat down close to her, only a few feet and a stack of boxes separating the two of them. He didn't even notice the intruder, pulling over a grindstone. There were still a few finishing touches to put on the sword. He pumped his foot, getting the wheel up to speed and starting to sharpen the blade against it. He was close to Paige now, close enough that she could see his eyes. They were like molten metal, with white-hot pupils glowing at the center. His face surprisingly human, except for the obvious features. Horns, sharp teeth, metallic eyes, red skin, but otherwise he looked almost normal. About her age, maybe a little younger.
He took a few minutes, but the sword was soon sharpened to a keen edge. Hellsmith held it up again, turning it over in his hands. It was a fine weapon, a double-edged longsword made from ice. The blade was unusually clear, almost like an icicle. He grinned broadly, nodding in approval again.
All while he was fondly regarding his creation, Hellsmith kept hearing weird noises. They were faint, barely audible, but they were there nonetheless. He couldn't for the life of him figure out what the hell they were. It wasn't much at first, but eventually it started getting on his nerves. Hellsmith set the sword down, turning to see what the sound was about.
He wasn't sure what to think of what he saw. His first instinct was to be angry. There was an intruder sneaking around his workshop, in a ski mask and some sort of sneaking suit. That certainly explained the little noises. On the other hand, the intruder appeared to be a girl. He had to give her some benefit of the doubt. Okay, there was at least a 100% chance that she was here to burglarize, sabotage, spy, or assassinate, but maybe they would hit it off.
"Hey." Hellsmith waved. He wasn't sure how to handle this one. He was used to using his charms, but never on a girl here to do him harm. "Mind telling me what you're doing?" He didn't sound angry. He was just making polite conversation about why she had broken in and was sneaking around.
Hellsmith visibly relaxed. He could understand her position. He had a very imposing presence, and an explorer might try hiding from him. Brock had been worried she was there to attack him or something. He gave her a big smile, extending a hand. "Don't worry about it. I'm pretty cool with guests. That posture can't be comfortable, make yourself at home." Could this be girlfriend number four? Her outfit didn't reveal too much, but he had high hopes.
Hellsmith brought out some chairs for them, trying to make her comfortable. It was a bit unorthodox for a first date, but he could roll with it. "So what's your name? I'm Hellsmith. Brock, if you want." He tried to put on his best charming demon smile.
Hellsmith was off his game at the moment. He'd been so caught up in being a good host that he'd forgotten to wait for the handshake. Well, Kim didn't seem to mind. He sat down across from her, relaxing a bit. "Kim, huh? Nice name." Hellsmith gave her another little fangtastic grin.
Kim seemed sort of tense for some reason. Trying to put her at ease, Hellsmith changed back to his human form. There was a flash of red, and an earth human boy was sitting in front of her. He had left the shirt out of his transformation, just to show off a bit. "So, how's the exploring going?" His smile was fang-free this time. Maybe that would be more successful.
"Yeah, this doesn't really fit the whole abandoned thing you got going." His transformation seemed to be having the intended effect, but Kim was trying to look everywhere but him. He wasn't sure what her deal was, most girls just ate the eye candy.
Pretty quickly, Kim was angling to leave. A frown crept across Hellsmith's face. "Got more exploring to do?" It was disappointing, having a good-looking gal just drop in on him and leave so soon. Brock stood, signaling for her to follow, and escorted her towards the door. "Feel free to stop by any time." he said, not even considering all his other girlfriends. If she took him up on that, things could get VERY awkward, but Brock wasn't thinking of that right then. He was more focused on the one in front of him. "Later Kim."

The roleplay takes place after the series end of the original Teen Titans animated show, but does not include the movie Trouble in Tokyo. Since then Robin has been on something of a recruiting spree, and many new young heroes have found themselves a home in Jump City as well as Titan Tower.
