Catasor arrived several minute early after having studied the maps of the tunnels around the meeting point that she was comfortable enough that she could get away if this went south. She pulled the phone out the air checking the meeting spot and time. She had ten minute till her new "employer" was expected to arrived.
Satisfied that she was in the right spot the black cloaked teleporter looked around, her clawed hand tense, as she studied the water puddles for ripples that shouldn't be there. She checked all the entrances she could find before opting to stand with her back to the wall away from the entry ways while still having a good view. Absently she considered summoning her dog, but shrugged it off, this place would be unpleasant for them and it might scare the client off. Her lips contorted into a frown, how had he heard about her she wondered; sure she had hit the museum, but that wasn't saying much.
She glanced around again tapping her claw against the concrete wall behind her; waiting made her nervous, where was this guy?
Gaunt was sick to second death of doing auditions. They didn't set a great tone for them working together, and the fighting was never too pleasant. Thankfully, he didn't need to audition this one. She came highly recommended, and her references checked out. It was nice when things worked out like this. If he was lucky, he'd have an experienced thief on the team. A good replacement for the bumbling chump that he'd just had to fire.
When Gaunt arrived, she was already waiting for him. That was good, punctuality was pretty highly valued in this field. He dropped down from the pipes above the tracks, landing on the gravel without missing a step. "Catastor?" Gaunt gave a wave, coming to a stop a few paces away. He didn't want to get uncomfortably close. "You can call me Nos. I represent Mr. Gaunt of Rat's Nest. We could use someone with your skills, if you're interested."
Catastor jumped a little when the bald man jumped down from the ceiling, reflexively squeezing her claw before relaxing, she loved hearing only the numbers, but people being able to get the jump on her with out warning was dreadful. Her eyes narrowed behind blue glass, watching his lips, sweet Hermes and Nicolas he as an accent. She studied his lip catching only half of what he said, before full catching on.
"Pardon, I didn't quiet catch that...Nos" The name fell off her tongue funny. "Rat's nest? Before this goes further, I need to ask who did you here about me from, as I don't hand out my number." It was a security measure. There was also a password involved, but there was a different for when her fences directly referred the person, it was different if another client had given him her number. With supers and the anonymity of her trade it paid to be careful.
Gaunt raised where an eyebrow should be. His accent wasn't that thick. Was she having some sort of trouble with it? A bit of a concern, but she could get used to it. She was prudent, and her instincts were good. That was better than most of his recruits so far. He might not have to train this one very much. "Mr. Gaunt had a little chat with our mutual friend Lancer. He said you were good." Like with any business, who you knew could get you a lot farther than what you knew. A good word from her fence could establish some trust.
"We've heard good things about your freelance work. I'm here to offer you more steady employment. We'd like you to work full-time for Rat's Nest, as one of our operatives. You'll get a monthly salary, commissions for jobs you do, and a safehouse with us. You interested?" He kept on a poker face, trying not to show off the fangs too much. They tended to put people off for some reason.
"Lancer, he tell you his password?" She eyed the bald man quietly as she listened to his offer. It was very tempting, but long term employment was touchy and she still had a real life that she had to tend to as well. Then there was the Rat's nest. She had never heard of any group by that name. "I can't say I've ever heard of group by that name, pardon me if I'm weary and I don't normally take long term employment offers, what all would I be doing for Mr...Gaunt?"
"Whisper of Nocturne." Gaunt snapped his fingers. The sound came out a little odd. His long, spindly fingers weren't as suited to snapping as a human's, but they managed it well enough. And once again, Catastor was being security-conscious. It was a pretty good sign. He might not need to teach her too much.
"Various jobs. We work for hire, much like you. Difference is we got organization. Backup, safehouses, the works. We can give you more stability than freelancing offers." Hopefully she wasn't just in it for the thrill. If that were the case, he'd probably just dynamited all chances of her joining. But if she was as professional as she seemed. this could be in the bag.
The hooded teen nodded satisfied watching his hand, she couldn't hear the sound but it was enough. "I wont apologize for precautions, it's really the only way to stay in business with supers and all." Catastor leaned against the wall thinking as he spoke, she had masted his dang accent finally. A group, now that sound like it could be good; she had gotten into a few close calls before. "I'm not sure, organizations are rather...delicate. It does sound interesting. I'd be willing to work with you for a bit, to see how it works; a trial basically. You wouldn't have to show me anything too secretive and if you have a job for me, you can contact me the same way as before. Me and teamwork have always been bothersome. It might be good to see how we work together before everything become to tangled up. Being someone else's loose end isn't really a pleasant feeling."
Gaunt nodded. "I respect that. Too many careless operators in this town, it's good to see a professional." Gaunt had some firsthand experience with those careless operators. He was being a lot pickier with his hiring now. He couldn't afford another Psyman.
"Alright, we'll keep in touch. I'll pass this on to Mr. Gaunt. Until next time." Gaunt waved, turning away. Not perfect, but this had gone pretty well. He'd have to figure out a job for her. A quick hop carried him the full height of the tunnel, and he pulled himself up onto the pipes. Not the most dignified way to travel, but it was sneaky, and that was more important. He'd had enough problems being followed already.
"Until next time." Catastor bowed before teleporting away. It hadn't been what she had been expecting, but a job was a job and this could be interesting depending how it all worked out.

The roleplay takes place after the series end of the original Teen Titans animated show, but does not include the movie Trouble in Tokyo. Since then Robin has been on something of a recruiting spree, and many new young heroes have found themselves a home in Jump City as well as Titan Tower.
