"I think I have everything..." Alex said to herself. She stood alone in a small, natural hollow somewhere deep within Jump City's forests. The typical trekker would walk for hours from their home to this place; Not a fun trip, given all of the untamed flora and fauna. Alex, however, practically lived out here. Her home was a few yards into the forest itself; Just outside of view from those looking in, for those days she had to make a run for it to get home before her classmates, with figurative pitchforks and torches in hand, could catch her. That wasn't anything unusual, though. Honestly, neither was this.
Laid out before her was a male corpse. Judging by her dirt-covered hands, the condition of the suit the young male was wearing, and how much Alex was currently trying to avoid making contact with it, guessing where the corpse came from was probably not the hardest of mysteries. "..." Well, at least it was going to work this time. She actually studied that old, musty grimoire that Agatha had been making her read for the last... forever, and realized that no matter how hard she tried to compensate for it, creating a dead thrall just wasn't possible without a body to act as the catalyst to the trapped soul. It was... annoying, but homework was homework, and while she could slack off at school, Agatha wasn't exactly... 'lenient' about her not taking her magic seriously. And so, here she was, behind the house (far, far behind the house), with a dead body and all sorts of fun other stuff.
"Okay... mental fingers crossed. I can do this," Alex told herself, mustering up the stomach to actually look the corpse over again. In her right hand, she held a dagger. It was, strangely enough, double-bladed; Two parallel blades curved and twisted around each other to create this unholy-looking contraption. Marked into the dirt below the body was an old symbol of resurrection, which... honestly wasn't a part of the spell. Alex just thought it looked cool. Sue her. A bowl filled with a strange assortment of what seemed like multi-colored grains of dust sat between her and the body. A slight amount of red liquid had dampened the 'sand, preventing it from blowing off in the wind; Given the bandage around Alex's hand and the still somewhat damp dagger, this wasn't hard to figure out either. "...God I hope this works. I don't want to have to go back there for at least a week," She muttered to herself, before mentally pulling the 'go' switch, and reaching into her backpack for the stupid book. As she opened her 'apprentice's grimoire', as issued to her by 'dearest' Agatha, and began to chant a most unholy medley, in a tongue that didn't even seem humanly possible.

Now, Alex had only seen Agatha resurrect the dead a few times. As she finished her 'prayer', and took a step back, things seemed to be... going as she remembered Agatha's examples! The nearby sky darkened, the ground beneath her feet began to quake, and before long, the corpse laying before her suddenly jolted to life; Though it didn't hop on it's feet and start dancing. As if hoisted upwards by unseen cables, the corpse raised into the air, along with the now also-animated, dampened sands which occupied the bowl. Around the man's body they danced, glowing an unnatural, unmistakable blood-red glow that illuminated the immediate woodland, and scared off any animal with even a half developed instinct. Alex could only watch in awe (and admittedly, excitement) as her apparent success continued to glow brightly for a few moments, engulfed in light, before slowly descending to the ground... on it's own feet. "HAH! EAT TOAD, AGATHA! 'You'll never be anything more than a bumbling page at this rate', She said. 'If I had a nickel for every time you failed at magic, I'd start a war', she said." Alex prematurely shouted in surprise and joy, already declaring the spell of necromancy a success. Of course, Agatha was nowhere to be found; She didn't accompany Alex on what she considered 'the time you could be spending doing something constructive, like actually studying magical theory'. Pfft, that sounded stupid even in Alex's own mind; Screw magical theory, she just brought a dead guy back to life. "My own personal undead thrall. Alex, you have outdone yourself this time... Don't you think so, Mr. Thrall?"
"....Uuuuuuugh...."
"...Ugh?" Of course, not all fairy tales end in on a Happily Ever Undead note, and keeping with that trend, Alex quickly found that her 'success'... Well, wasn't. Yes, she brought a dead body back to life, but as she looked at it... It wasn't what she wanted in the least! She dug up a nicely-dressed, well-preserved young male corpse! This rotting, green-skinned, shamble-of-a-suit-wearing... THING, was not what she dug up! It was supposed to be intelligent, and completely awesome-looking and IT WASN'T SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE THIS! "...UGH! What did I do wrong!? I did everything right! I measured the ingredients perfectly! I offered the proper amount of blood, I-- Gah! So stupid! I HATE MAGIC!" She screamed at no one in particular, clearly having something of a tantrum.
"Uuuuuuuugh..."
That wasn't the only problem, either. The other problem was that her 'intellegent, and completely awesome-looking' zombie friend was now, for reasons unknown, approaching her. Alex didn't scare very easily, but... "...Okay, you can just... Go back to being dea-- er... deceased, now." She said hesitantly, but to her disappointment (and confirmed fears), the zombie did the very opposite of 'decease'; It kept moving, somewhat slowly, but quick enough to forcer to backtrack at very real pace. "...Oh crap," She muttered to herself, suddenly very aware of just how badly she had failed this spell.
