Hellsmith frowned, putting on his best sad face when she scolded him. "Well I thought you'd be cool about it." He was still surprised about that part. She was a witch, weren't witches and demons supposed to be bros? Maybe that was another thing he'd missed when he was spacing out in class. That kinda kept on coming back to bite him.
Aw yeah, she was talkin' muscle. Of course she was, all the ladies love the strongness. Brock's face shifted back to a charming smile, and he subtly tried to sit in a way that would emphasize his levels of buffness. "Well, it kinda works both ways. They were interested in me cuz I was strong and a good blacksmith, and ascending made me more of those. It's like a loop thing, ya know?" He couldn't have her believing he was some sort of scrawny pointdexter before he became a demon. He had a reputation to maintain as an awesome muscleman.
He was glad she liked the weapons, but her questions were confusing him again. What was with the alphabet soup? Were those even real weapons? Did that FIM thing have anything to do with the friendship magic stuff he'd heard about? Regardless, he was going to set the record straight on his gear. "No, I do classic stuff. Swords, axes, maces, armor, all the cool stuff." One thing that hadn't changed, pop culture still thought his style of weapon was cool as all hell. His gear would never go out of style.
With a roll of her eyes, Alex shook her head at Brock's 'sad face'. "Common courtesy would be nice next time. You might not be aware, but usually, when a demon shows up behind a mage unannounced, it intends to kill her. So, yeah." This was probably extremely subjective on her part. The only demons she'd ever met were very unpleasant demons, Brock being the exception. She figured, by that logic, she'd probably be best fitted to savor this occasion, since she didn't know when the next kindly demon would come rolling along.
Of course, whatever she casted earlier was still permeating the ground, and while even she wasn't sure why or how, it somehow made her feel a little better about the situation, knowing she had the power to at least scare him. Thus, she sat and listened to him talk about being strong or something. Something about being chosen as an ascendent because he was a blacksmith. Alex shrugged. "At the very least, it makes sense that they wouldn't choose a slob to become a demon ascendent. Not a war demon, anyway," She corrected herself, remembering Agatha's lecture on Sloth demons.
"'Cool stuff', he says. I guess. " Alex responded with a chuckle that died down to a smirk. She wasn't much into weapons, but Agatha had them all throughout the house, lining the walls; Bows, swords, shields, and all manner of staves sat on pedestals and mounts, like trophies. The young mage had never actually asked where she got them; She was a bit too afraid of the answer to do so, and a scared Alex was an uncharacteristical Alex. At any rate, she'd never picked up sword or hammer in her life, so she didn't know the first thing about weapons.
"Really? Wow, didn't know that." Hellsmith had no idea so many demons were so unfriendly. Was that why people were so scared of his true form? Or maybe they were just buying into the stereotyping, he couldn't rule that out either. Most of the demons he knew were very polite. Even Mr. Knight wouldn't appear behind someone and murder them, he'd give them ample time to defend themselves. "I'll keep that in mind next time. But still, friendly neighborhood demon here."
Good, she seemed at least potentially impressed by his qualifications. That was a good sign. Brock smiled, feeling more at ease now. "Yeah, the war ones got high standards. Some of the others I'll never get though. I know one guy got his ascension for throwing lots of drunken parties in the woods. Revelry demons are freakin' weird." Brock shook his head. He could respect and even envy their style, but he'd never get how their whole system worked. It almost seemed like whoever was in charge of ascension over there was as drunk as his minions. Which would make sense, it just didn't match up to the badassery of his own side of things.
The weapons didn't seem to impress her quite as much. He wasn't sure what the chuckling was about, but she didn't seem to care much about them. Quickly, he tried to do damage control. "Do some other stuff too. Mostly it's weapons, armor, or jewelry. Been making a lot of fireburst rings lately." Maybe THAT would get her attention.
"You're giving me this weird 'I haven't been a demon for very long' vibe, Brock." Alex noted with a frown, more out of concern than anything else. For an ascendent, he was coming off as very, very clueless; She wasn't sure if it was an act, or perhaps a side effect of becoming what he was, or... well, if he was just literally that clueless, but it was slightly troubling to imagine how long he'd survived in the world without knowing that turning into a giant, hulking demon without warning was just a no-no, no matter who you were showing. "'Friendly', he says. Right, well, untrusting young mage here." Alex noted, still not sure what to make of why on Earth the demon ascendent was out here.
"Hah, there's all sorts of craziness when it comes to beings of chaos. That's what they are, at the end of the day; Just plain chaos. My mom once dated a guy who ripped his heart out and offered it to a sloth demon, just because she dumped him." Alex paused to shrug and adjust her seating on the log. "And not even like, a real breakup either-- Usually it's a lot more messy between mages, y'know how it is. Anyway, she ended up finding out about him turning himself into a sloth demon's thrall, hunted him down, and banished his soul from the physical plane! And I'm like, what's that all about, y'know? The thing was, HE broke up with HER! Mages are weird."
With that completely random story out of the way, Alex listened to Brock talk a bit more about weapons and stuff-- until he mentioned a certain item of interest that caught Alex's ear and caused her to raise an eyebrow. "...Fireburst rings? That sounds like-- You make enchanted jewelry?" This was practically a taboo subject in Agatha's house. Mages though they were, a few normal ground rules somehow managed to adapt themselves to their everyday life. For instance, despite how much Alex wanted some, enchanted (or otherwise) jewelry was practically forbidden to her. She got away with the choker on the grounds of it technically being an article of clothing, but Agatha was still very skeptical of it. Needless to say, her interest piqued.

The roleplay takes place after the series end of the original Teen Titans animated show, but does not include the movie Trouble in Tokyo. Since then Robin has been on something of a recruiting spree, and many new young heroes have found themselves a home in Jump City as well as Titan Tower.
