Jump City! So lively this time of night. The air is fresh, the people are lively, and convenience store clerks are primed and ready for pleading for their life!
It took mere moments between Caustic entering a pristine convenience store, and its current state; shelves were toppled, people were panicking, and Caustic had the poor clerk held up by his neck. She grinned. It may be a small time gig, but it'd help her make a name for herself. She covered this just last week in Hive Academy's "Make A Name For Yourself" seminar.
"Run!" she snickered before dropping the clerk. As he scampered out the store, Caustic followed up, "and let everyone fear me, Caustic!" It was a little cheesy, but there was no point to this if nobody knew her name. As she piled money from the cashier into her backpack, she idly wondered how long it would take her before she'd get the attention of the Titans. Didn't they have some kind of list of their most wanted villains? They've gone up against some pretty big names. Names. That's what this all boils down to. One day, she'd get to the top of the Titan's list for sure! Until then, it's robbing convenient stores for her.
"Woohoo!" she shouted as she busted out, smiling with joy! It may be a small crime, but she got a huge rush. "Jump City just got a little less safer with me around!"

People were always productive during the day, but the Night was when everything happened. Important things, great things and terrible things alike. But James Gadsden had been content to take it easy this night. He was gonna go on a nice little jog in the late afternoon, maybe pick up some ice cream on the way home and just chill at home. Watch some TV, play some video games, y'know that sort of stuff. Well, James was about halfway home from his jog when he realized his plans had changed. A convienience store up ahead(probably the one he would've been picking up ice cream at) had its windows smashed open and a tall green skinned girl wearing...some sort of strange catsuit with tubes coming out of it was out infront of it.
James sighed. He'd hoped he be able to make his debut under better circumstances. Maybe for something bigger than a corner store robbery. But showmanship had its place and time. His duty also had a place and time, and they were right here and right now. James ducked into a back alley and fiddled around with his watch for a brief moment before closing his eyes and taking a deep calming breath...as the metal poured out of his skin.
A few seconds passed, and out from the alley emerged a hulking star spangled machine that walked into the center of the street, pointing a finger in Caustic's direction. "Good thing you're not gonna be around too much longer, then," he shouted at her. "Unless you wanna end up on the receiving end on one mother of a beat down, surrender now, drop the money and put your hands up!"
Patriot put his pointing hand down, and crossed his arms over his chest, waiting for her response. As cliche as the phrase was, this could either be done the easy way or the hard way. Something told him it would end up being the hard way.
Caustic stopped when she heard the voice. She turned around slowly, taking the time to look at her options. It's the middle of a street. "Perfect," she thought, bitterly. Depending on who she was up against, she might not be able to make an easy getaway. Not really her best location for a fight, either. Soon, she found herself looking up at a very large All-American-Zero.
Ugh. Well, he's no Titan. Trouncing this nobody would be good for practice, nothing else. Coated in metal, too. She'd have to get up close and personal to do any sort of damage. Disadvantage? Hers. But could this Artificial Unintelligence match her agility?
She glanced upwards, bit her lip, and smiled.
"Running it is, then!"
She did a high backflip through the air, and gripped tightly to a nearby building. As she landed, she chucked a Gas Grenade and prepared to get away with her next jump. Who knows if the grenade would do anything against this Robutt? Still looks cool.

Of course she runs. No one EVER gave up, but at least they had the courtesy to make it easy on him and just fight him mano a mano. Well, usually. This one had decided to make a chase out of it. And she left him a present in the form of a gas grenade! How thoughtful of her. Patriot Zero put his hands in front of his face to guard from the flash and initial burst of the explosion, hopping back a few steps to avoid being right in the gassy clouds epicenter. Gas or smoke, as he learned in training, was something of a double edged sword. Sure, no one inside the cloud could tell what was going on outside...but it was just as hard for anyone on the outside see what was going on INside!
Patriot bided his time for a little, waiting for the smoke to clear out enough for him to find Caustic. There! Clinging to a building like some deranged parkour-ist! He knew how to knock that fly off the wall. Patriot focused, feeling the turbine in his arm start to wind up and seeing his hand start to glow bright blue. Sparks began flying off of the hand and Patriot whipped his arm forward in an exaggerated two finger point, a bolt of electricity arcing across his hand and fingers before flying forward in a beeline for Caustic.
But he wasn't done yet. Patriot darted through the smoke toward the building and Caustic, hoping that bolt had caught her and he could get to her before she got anywhere.
Caustic was prepared to walljump onto the roof, when out from the smog came a bolt of lightning! Instintively, Caustic held out her hands in a futile attempt to block the attack. It was quite fortunate that her suit is set to resist electric attacks by default, otherwise this would have been a game over for her! Still, the resistance wasn't perfect. She let out a yelp, and fell from the wall.
She somersaulted through the air and stuck the landing, but noted that her suit was temporarily overloaded. She'd need to find somewhere to hide while it discharged the electricity it absorbed, or the next attack could be catastrophic! Her eyes darted around as her gas dispersed. Eventually, she settled on a grocery store, closed for the night. She fired a few acid bolts at the window and jumped through the hole it left behind. Hopefully she'd have some time to breathe, too.
The city would never be safe even with its heroes all breaking their backs and risking their own necks just to protect it. The telepath had always known this, but the full extent hadn't donned on him until recently. He wondered how much longer he would have remained blind to the truth? Yet another defect of his he could easily blame Burgess for, but no not this time. This time he was going to accept full responsibility for his mistakes. He couldn't go on blaming every little thing that went wrong in his life on his stupid creator who was still in prison last he checked.
Ever since his confrontation with Nos he had been hiding out, using his old master's secret lab. The lab was well-hidden even moreso once Psyman put the holograms online. It was a lucky thing that Burgess still had instructions for them still laying around otherwise it would have taken the telepath even longer to figure out. Safe from Rats Nest, heroes and the police alike, Psyman spent the next couple months basically just hanging out and honing his powers even further and now he has been experiencing powerful visions; one of which informed him of a ring of immense power that he just had to have, but couldn't because it was hidden well at the very bottom of Jump's volcano. Since the vision he had been searching obsessively in Burgess' lab for a way to get him down there safely, but thus far found none.
Frustrated, he took his hooded green cloak and stepped out wearing his matching dark green armor. With him he took needles. Since he couldn't find a way into the volcano without getting himself fried he decided to find someone that could and manipulate that person into finding the ring for him. The plan wasn't a perfect one, but it sounded okay in his head. No longer did he believe in good and evil. In his time all alone, away from people he did a lot of thinking and he came to the conclusion that good and evil just didn't exist. It was all a lie created by the ones on the side of the law, a ploy or a scare tactic used to get citizens into doing 'the right thing.' He also believed that the term, 'evil' was unjustly used to describe people like him who only wanted more in life. He was ambitious sure, but that alone did not make him evil.
Into the city of Jump he emerged and almost straight away he had been greeted by overtly friendly dogs sniffing at his legs. He glared coldly at them causing them to whimper and back away. "Get out of here you filthy mongrels! Scat! You're lucky I don't use a mind blast on you," he snorted, giving them a swift kick. The dogs just ran off whimpering. "Dogs, oh how I loathe them... Filthy, disease ridden, slobbering things..." he mused aloud in disgust to nobody in particular although his actions and musings warranted some stares.
"What are you people looking at?" he scoffed causing the people to just slowly return to their business. "Yeah, that's what I thought! Norms! Such pathetic and lowly creatures..." he mused under his breath as he happened across a fight between an armored robotic man and a young green-skinned female wearing what appeared to be some sort of armored catsuit.
Not wanting to be seen just yet, Psyman quickly ducked to the side of a building and out of sight and from there he safely watched their little battle pour on. From the looks of things he couldn't tell who was winning, but in the middle of it the girl was forced to make a hasty retreat into a grocery store window. Glancing back at the armored robotic man, he smirked wondering if he had seen where the girl ended up.
Figuring this would be a good and not to mention safe time to make himself known to both parties he first stepped out to introduce himself to the armored man since he was closest. Not wanting to appear threatening he approached slowly. Unsure if this hero knew of him, Psyman kept his hood up. "Hello good sir. First, let us get the pleasantries out of the way as that is how it is generally done. That is, you are human, yes?" he asked suspiciously as he gazed up at the far taller robotic man who had him beat in terms of height by a whole foot.
Hmmm. That doesn't bode well... Robobro isn't working alone... But who is... Isn't that Psyman?
From what she could tell, he was a big name, and of moral alignment!
Caustic sent a mental command to her suit. Swap out electric resistance for neural shielding. Her suit responded in the negative; the neural shield was far from optimal at the moment, and would be ultimately useless at hiding her thoughts from Psyman.
Crud. It was probably too late by now anyways. He was probably reading her like an open book anyways... If only she could hear what he was saying. Was he ratting out her location? Her thoughts? Oh crap, how deep does his telepathy probe? Caustic turned and hid further in the grocery store. It wouldn't take much longer for her suit to begin working at full capacity, and maybe she'd be able to get her neural shield up just enough to provide some protection at being found by Psyman. She worked up a bit of a nervous sweat, and wiped it off only to leave a few scorch-marks on the grocery-store floor.
Cogbutt alone was enough of a challenge. If she were to get out of this in one piece, she'd need to seperate them somehow...
[[OOC: Caustic actually doesn't know TOO much about Psyman, mostly just common knowledge stuff. She may actually be greatly over (or under) estimating his power]]
Oddly enough before the telepath could get anything out of him, the mysterious armored men took off leaving Psyman alone and confused. After standing there a moment, the powerful telepath just assumed that the robotic man hadn’t heard him and went off to look for the green girl. An exasperated sigh escaped Psyman’s throat and remembering the green girl a small, devious smile crossed his lips as he turned and slowly walked over to the girl’s hiding place.
Noticing the broken window, the telepath humming to himself casually jumped through it. His bright yellow catlike eyes scanned the area for the mysterious girl, glowing against the darkness. As he strolled around the mostly desolate grocery store the telepath called out to the one he had hoped to manipulate.
“Hello. You can come out now. It’s safe…for now. The robotic man who I saw fighting you is long gone. I doubt he’ll be back anytime soon and you need not worry about me. I’m not here for battle. I’m actually not even with roboman or with any of those on the side of the law. You might even say that I am something of a…observer,” he called out in his casual, calm voice.
He stopped dead in his tracks upon his yellow catlike eyes spotting something most unusual on the floor. Curious, he bent down to get a closer look. “Scorch marks,” he whispered quietly to himself as he rubbed his fingers together. His mind then whirled. He wondered if his luck was changing for the better and if this girl was possibly a fire manipulator as well. The telepath hoped so since a fire manipulator would be most useful in his plans to acquire the Ring of Menace.
Psyman glanced around his surroundings as he slowly stood back to his feet. “I have a most intriguing proposition for you that’d be wise to hear out,” he further tempted with the hopes of luring her out without invading her mind. However, he wasn’t above mind jumping her if she decided not to come out on her own since he was now close enough to be able to. But the telepath was most confident that she would for he had been around the block long enough to know people are inherently greedy and therefore unable to resist hearing a good offer.
"You got rid of the Robot man? Humph. I was supposed to take him down. I'm trying to make a name for myself here." Caustic shouted this, hanging from a ceiling nearby. She didn't want to let Psyman see her yet. What were the limits of his powers, exactly? Then, he said that he had a proposition to make. Hmmm... that sounded interesting, at the least. From somewhere else in the store, Caustic replied, "Go on."
She lost her chance to fight the hero, but she'd be up for a little something else...
Slightly amused by her...dedication to take on roboman a chuckle escaped Psyman's throat. "So ambitious. So dedicated. I like that in an ally," he said licking his lips. "And, if it's any consolation I did not get rid of tin man. He simply took off before I could get a word out. It wouldn't surprise me if all his heavy armor hinders his hearing. Hm, well no matter my proposition has room enough for just one of you anyway and with him gone I suppose the job's yours by default. Not the best way to win a job, but hey who am I to judge?" he said with an amused laugh as he stretched out his arms.
When she asked him to continue he cleared his throat. "Certainly, but you'll have to come down first before I'll reveal my plans to you. No offense, but I don't make deals with disembodied voices," he stubbornly countered revealing that he knows where she is.
Hearing Caustic's thoughts Psyman sighed and his feline ears twitched as they acted very much like a radio antenna except instead of radio waves they picked up on nearby brain waves. "I see you have been told about me. Allow me to be frank with you my power is growing stronger with each new day. Not so long ago I foolishly feared my own power and had tried stifling it, but then I realized how foolish that was and now I fully embrace my power. I can hear your thoughts...Caustic and I know you are hiding on the ceiling. So I ask again, get down here, so I can speak with you face to face on equal ground," he practically ordered with a hiss, confirming that he is now close enough to hear Caustic's thoughts.
Shitbiscuits he's in my head. Okay, keep calm, fortunately I don't have any secrets he can use against me, except maybe my name which is W--AFFLES xD. Okay. Phew. Close one, but now I'm a few brain cells less well off. Okay, let's get out in the open he found me.
Caustic lands and walks out into the open. Damn, this guy is actually kind of scary PONIES zOMG, wait nope damn already thought it. He knows.
Okay. What do you want. She says, without moving her lips.

The roleplay takes place after the series end of the original Teen Titans animated show, but does not include the movie Trouble in Tokyo. Since then Robin has been on something of a recruiting spree, and many new young heroes have found themselves a home in Jump City as well as Titan Tower.
