Kaie's home was an odd place. It had been built with her in mind, with the help of a Super Assistance Program. As such, everything was a little over double size. Ladders were scattered around for Ma to get places that had been built with a giant in mind. It was difficult at times, but they made it work somehow.
Kaie got home from school a little late that day. She'd had to make a stop on the way home and pick up a thing or two. She checked the driveway to make sure Ma's truck wasn't there before heading in, making a beeline for her room. This was gonna be so cool! With how big the house was, there was no way this could go wrong. Besides, she was a genius. Probably. At least, she knew what she was doing sort of.
The giantess gently set her backpack down on the bed, leaving another bag on the floor next to the bed. She'd left that one out of the pack, it was supposed to be a surprise and she couldn't very well ruin it. Smiling ear to ear, Kaie opened the backpack and peeked inside. "Ye can come on out now!"
Vincent had no idea what he was going to do until Kaie had offered him a place to stay. Some small part of his subconscious told him it was not a good idea to agree to it, but that had quickly been ignored. Such logic rarely ever made sense to Vincent as he was still learning and picking up on everything. It was rather a miracle he managed to function every day with the lack of common sense he had managed to retain after his little accident of coming into this world. Good thing he had Kaie there to show him some things.
Everything had been in darkness for quite some time until he was set down on something rather soft. Next thing he knew he heard was Kaie's voice as she opened up the backpack to let him out. Vincent slowly stretched as he stood up and out of the backpack. He let out a soft yawn as he looked around and realized just how much bigger everything was in here.
And it was Kaie's room.
"So why did I have to come in through the backpack?" Vincent asked her as he quelled those other feelings. He thought he would have just walked through the front door like everybody else. It was weird having to be in that backpack of hers even if it was giant sized. Still, he trusted Kaie.
Okay, now came the awkward questions. Kaie thought for a moment about how to handle this. Vincent was usually a real standup guy, he might be a stickler for the rules. On the other hand, he'd been pretty adventurous with her, so she'd have to play it by ear. "Well," she said nervously, "Ma don't think I should be havin a boyfriend yet, and she DEFINITELY don't think one should be movin in, so this gotta be a secret. Don' worry, I can sneak ye out so we can still do stuff around town and whatnot, but ye gotta stay sneaky while yer here."
Kaie sat down next to Vincent, smiling down at him. She could tell they were going to have a lot of fun. "Ye can stay in here, but it might be comfier and safer if ye magic up a secret room. Think ye can do that?" This, she was really excited about. Magic was always awesome, and getting to see some new magic stuff was always cool. Even better, having magic going on under her own roof was hell of rad.
Vincent paid close attention as Kaie answered his question and made sense out of most of what she had said. So he was actually not supposed to be here. Being found out would be a bad thing then, and Vincent had no problem being sneaky. This was just a temporary living arrangement anyways until Vincent figured some stuff out. It would take a while, and he was definitely glad Kaie was there for him.
"Don't worry about having to sneak me in and out. My teleporting will handle that, so it will be like I'm not even here," Vincent told her. Only some type of magical barrier would prevent Vincent from leaving whenever he wished, and he had not felt that kind of power when Kaie had brought him here. Although he was tempted to set up some safety measures. Vincent would talk with Kaie about that later.
"Magic room? Should be easy enough," he said as he walked over to an open space on her wall. Vincent took in a very deep breath as his body was outlined in silver. His energy erupted through every cell in his body as he focused the power into the palm of his hand before he pressed his palm against the wall. The energy flowed out and formed a poster sized rectangle. A few moments later Vincent released his breath as a mirror had been formed on the wall, and the boy was breathing in deeply as he barely managed to stand up.
"All done!" Vincent exclaimed as he turned around with a huge grin. Unfortunately, the grin did not last long as the boy face planted and passed out. He had used way too much energy.
Vincent seemed to be taking the sneak stuff in stride. Apparently having a home (and being with her, she hoped) was important enough for him to be a little sneaky. That at least was a relief, she didn't want their first big fight to be about something like this. She didn't want the fight at all actually, but if they had to have it it would be better to fight over something silly like burgers.
A smile lit up her face. She hadn't even thought of the teleportation! And now that he knew where it was, he could get in and out with no problems! "Thas great! Jus make sure Ma ain't in here afore you come in, she'd be maaaaaaaad..." Oh, this was exciting. It wasn't often she got to be rebellious, a girl could get used to this.
And now for the main attraction. Kaie looked on in wonder as Vincent magicked up a room for himself. She could swear she felt the energy from the magic. When it was done, all that had changed was an unobtrusive mirror. Ma wouldn't even think to check there! Kaie reached out a hand, sticking a finger through the glass to the other side. "Whoa..." Just when she thought Vincent couldn't get any cooler, he went and did something like this.
And then he passed out. Kaie scrambled to catch him, barely getting him before he hit the ground. She gently picked him up and sat on the bed, setting him down on her lap until he recovered. Good thing Ma wasn't due home until late tonight, this would have been awkward to explain.
There was only a vast darkness for what seemed an eternity until Vincent felt something soft and warm against him. Vincent could not recall anything for a few moments before he remembered what was happening. So maybe he had used too much energy in creating that room for himself. He had no way to gauge how much energy it would have required, so he had just poured as much as he could into the process. And now Vincent was barely regaining his consciousness after that little ordeal.
Slowly he opened his eyes to see everything was completely fuzzy. There was a slight pressure in the back of his mind, and the sensation went away as his vision focused. Vincent could see Kaie above him, and he realized it was her lap that he had felt. He had to admit it was very comfortable, and a part of him did not want to move. Well, he would stay there for a while longer since he could not actually move at the moment.
"Guess I went a bit overboard there," Vincent said with a small smile as he looked up at her. Bit by bit his energy was returning to him. While he had released the majority of his power, not all of it had been used. What remained was slowly flowing back into his body as it had nowhere else to go. It would just take a few more minutes before Vincent would be able to move.
She wasn't sure how long Vincent was out, but it seemed like forever. In reality it was probably more like a few minutes, but time gets weird when you're worried. She fidgeted nervously, hoping she wouldn't have to take him to a hospital. It would be pretty awkward if she carried an unconscious boy out of her bedroom, people might start asking questions.
Luckily that wasn't necessary. Vincent came to after a few minutes, and Kaie breathed a sigh of relief. "Welcome back, hon." She smiled down at him, showing a little fang. He still seemed woozy, but it looked like he'd be fine. She'd have to be careful how much she asked of him in future, it would be bad if he passed out like that again. Then again, maybe it was only for permanent constructs like the room.
"Are ye alright?" In an instant, the worried tone was back. She didn't want Vincent's first visit to her place to be spent half-conscious from strain. Thinking back, she remembered that eating seemed to help his powers. "Ye need ta eat something? I got food in the kitchen, and stuff for makin smores. No campfire, but we got a toaster oven." She didn't know why Ma was so attached to that old thing, but Kaie had her suspicions. Mainly, she was pretty sure Ma was convinced that radiation from the microwave had made Kaie giant. Kaie was pretty sure that made no goddamn sense, but who was she to question Ma's logic?
Vincent nodded when Kaie asked if he was alright. He would just have to take it easy for a little bit while his energy returned to him. At least now the room was made, and he could work on putting everything back into there. Mainly it would just hold his bed and forge since that was all the boy needed.
At the mention of smores Vincent immediately sat up and looked up at her with a giant smile. The sudden movement would have put a strain on his body were it not for his always present hunger for the delicious snack. Vincent could just never get enough of the food, and it would only be better if Kaie made them. Home made smores were way better than anything he conjure up. This was going to be awesome!
"Smores sound like just the thing to fix me right up," he said as he continued that big smile of his. "And you can show me around so I know the place and where not to venture into," he added. Vincent definitely needed to see all the rooms so he could just pop into them and to know what rooms he needed to stay away from. Would not want to run into her mother after all.
Vincent seemed ready for a nap right up until she mentioned his favorite food in the known universe. She let out a little chuckle at his overjoyed response. "Well, couldn't have ye over without bein ready for S'mores, now could I?" One had to be prepared for these things when one had a time-displaced magic boyfriend.
In a town like Jump, that probably wasn't as rare as it sounded.
Kaie stood, cradling Vincent in one arm as she brought him into the kitchen. The ceilings were high to accommodate her, but most of the stuff was low down for Ma's convenience. Kaie knelt down, getting some stuff out and carefully preparing a bunch of s'mores for the two of them. She didn't know how many Vincent would need, but her appetite was big enough to take care of any leftovers. She popped the tray in the toaster oven and sat on the floor to wait, Vincent in her lap. "Guess ye should pace yerself on the magic, eh?"
Kaie was definitely the best for having planned for smore making already. This was going to be the best ever, and he really did need the sugar. A lot of his energy had been lost in the process of him absorbing what had been left over. Vincent just did not have the control to bring it all back in to himself.
Vincent relaxed in Kaie's arm as she stood him and took him to the kitchen. He had not seen just how big the house was since he had come inside the backpack. The ceiling was high enough for Kaie to walk around without any problems. This house was definitely built for a giant.
He was quiet as she pulled everything out and then set tray in the oven. Those smores were going to be amazing, and Vincent had his eyes locked on them until Kaie sat down. He felt as if he had won the lottery, and he showed that when he looked up at her and smiled again.
"Yeah, I'll take it easy. Won't have to make a room like that again, so I'll be good," Vincent answered her. "Those smores are gonna fix everything though," he added as he relaxed in her lap.
It was kinda weird cradling Vincent like this, but he was kinda adorable like this so Kaie didn't mind. He seemed so at ease being carried around by her. She wasn't sure if that was because he was so tired, or just how comfortable he was with her. She liked to think it was the second, they seemed to be getting along great since they'd met. She hadn't realized her first boyfriend would go this smoothly, let alone her first magic boyfriend.
While she was preparing the smores, Vincent was completely transfixed. Kaie let out a little chuckle seeing him stare at the toaster oven. She'd known his favorite food would get his attention, but this was funnier than expected. He didn't come back to reality until he was safe in her lap. "They'll be jus' a minute."
"Yeah, that permanent stuff must be hard." She hadn't known that permanent constructs were possible until then. Normally his stuff vanished after a while, but supposedly this would last forever while also violating the laws of space and time. It had to be pretty damn awesome to be able to do that, no wonder he had collapsed. "Yeah, those are like magic food!" The toaster oven dinged, and Kaie pulled out the tray. It was still pretty hot, but with her giant toughness she could handle it. "Gotta let these cool a minute, but then they'll be ready."
"Making things doesn't seem to be so hard. I was just left without any energy afterwards. Not really sure how to measure it so I just use all of it," Vincent explained as he waited on the smores to cool off. He was ready to bite into them, but Kaie had distracted him talking about his magic again. Creating something like that had never really been a possibility before Vincent had come to this world. It made him wonder if the magic here was different, but then he remembered there were smores in front of him.
"You're the best, Kaie," Vincent said as he picked up one of the smores carefully. They were still warm, but it was not enough to actually burn him. Slowly he blew on it to cool it off a little bit more before Vincent took a big bite out of the smore. The taste was just amazing, and Vincent glowed for split second out of joy.
"And these are certainly amazing!" he managed to say after the first bite before quickly devouring the rest of it. Vincent would have to make sure Kaie made these for him. Smores were already amazing, but these were just so much better. He had no idea why, and none of that mattered. Vincent was just excited as he picked up another one and starting eating it.

Well, that certainly explained things. Magic seemed really tough, if even Vincent wasn't entirely sure what he was doing. His "no kill like overkill" approach struck a chord with Kaie. It was something they had in common, wielding massive amounts of power that they couldn't always control. Hearing stuff like that made her feel a bit closer to him. "Well, ye did a great job on that one! That were pretty cool back there." She gave him her best encouraging smile.
"Thanks, hon." The giantess flushed a little at the compliment. She was still getting used to the whole boyfriend thing, and it was still a little surprising hearing things like that. Not in a bad way, more in the best way. She beamed, popping one of the treats into her mouth. She could see why Vincent liked them. Maybe not the best food in the universe, but they were certainly trying.
She let out a little chuckle at his overjoyed response. This boy was serious about his s'mores. "Yeah, they're pretty great. I'm glad I did this." Kaie chowed down on another, and Vincent was already well into his second. The boy worked fast, she'd have to keep a steady supply of them. Ma might ask questions, but Kaie could come up with an excuse. Something about needing more snacks with all her activities. "So Ma ain't due home til late tonight, what ye wanna do?"
One of these days Vincent would remember how to properly use his magic. Maybe. There had been little progress in the recovery of his memories, and it was not like Vincent was actively seeking them out. If the nightmares he had were any indication of his past, Vincent had no reason to even try to remember any of that. Besides, this world was not so bad. Even if there was still a lot for Vincent to learn, it was manageable.
Kaie posed her question as Vincent was half way through his second smore. Vincent tried to answer immediately, but there was no way he was going to get any sound out through all the melted marshmallow and chocolate. It took him a few moments before Vincent was finally able to speak again.
"How about one of those action movies? Or do you have... what was it called... homework? That stuff is important, right?" Vincent asked her. He looked up at her as he ate the rest of his smore. School was a strange concept to Vincent, but it seemed to be a requirement for everyone in this world.
Vincent took a while to respond. Understandable, considering how busy his mouth was with the snacks. At his size he couldn't inhale them like Kaie could, he had to chew through the sticky mass. Kaie waited patiently, just enjoying his company. Sitting with a boy in her lap wasn't something she'd gotten to do much, it was a nice change of pace. If luck was with her, it would become a normal thing.
A grin spread across Kaie's face at his suggestion. She knew she'd seen something in him. "Action movie sounds great! Don' worry bout homework, I got it covered." Not entirely true, but Kaie was fine with being a little behind on her homework. She could catch up later maybe. Kaie put an arm around Vincent, putting Thor on. Okay maybe superheroes weren't exactly escapism for them, but it was still fun. She figured she could show him her new uniform later. He was tired and had had a lot of excitement, she didn't want to make poor Vincent faint by showing him now.

The roleplay takes place after the series end of the original Teen Titans animated show, but does not include the movie Trouble in Tokyo. Since then Robin has been on something of a recruiting spree, and many new young heroes have found themselves a home in Jump City as well as Titan Tower.
