Lang fiddled with the soft faux-leather covering of the earmuffs as they wore uncomfortably on his ears. His very round, very furless, and very much human ears. It was annoying and his ear were red at the tips, but it was a small sacrifice in exchange for the pleasure of Iggy Pop cooing out lyrics. It was utterly and completely insignificant against the feeling of getting to be human again. Getting to be Lang.
The world felt quieter on these rare days he got to be just him. Maybe it was just because he didn't have the benefit of his lupine ears. It didn't particularly bother Lang one way or the other. It made it easier to relax. That was more than enough on these rare days.
His uniform was being laundered in Titans tower. He could feel the sun on his skin. He had a couple of spare bucks in his pocket from doing some fortune telling down by the docks. Even the weather seeemed to be on his side today. It was cloudy with just the right amount of drizzle. It wasn't enough to soak drench the world in drab grey, but it was enough to refresh. It was enough to make a pleasant drumming rhythm against the vinyl stickered window he took shelter behind, cozy in his red flannel shirt and scraggy bottom jeans.
Lang gave a passive grunt as his intense coffee colored eyes found themselves drawn back to the apartment ads section of the newspaper. "I didn't even know there was a Thai place like this in town. How didja even find it Roy?" The tanned skinned Native American said as he rested his chin on his palm, making his cheek pouch up. The name Roy felt weird on his lips. Awkward even. There were no mask or fur between them.
"Erm. Thanks for hangin' out with me. I know that apartment hunting isn't the most fun activity but I need a new place to hang my metaphorical hat." Lang grumbled good-naturedly. "As well as my literal hats. I don't think I own any literal hats however. I have a knit-beanie thing. Is that a hat or a cap though?" he said with a nervous joke. It was oddly naked to talk like this. Lang wasn't sure that he liked feeling this vulnerable. But there was something nice about being able to talk go out to lunch like a normal person with a normal friends It was a rare day. It was good day.
