There were only so many tests someone could run before it was time for a field test. Months had been spent on developing the ARAKNE model after HAMMERHEAD had been a success. The ARAKNE was a faster model even if it did lose some of the durability, but it could still take some hits before the exoskeleton would be damaged. It had to in order to withstand the physical strength the Titans were capable of inflicting. The main problem that was going to come up was how many of the robots could function without starting to lag or overheat the processors.
Traffic was jammed up already as was normal for the lunch rush. People were running back and forth everywhere making the streets crowded. Not exactly the best time to stage a bank robbery, but none of that mattered to Slade. Even in broad daylight he would be able to accomplish the job. In fact, daylight was one of the advantages he was aiming for at the moment.
No warning was giving as the three planes flew in over the city and released their cargo. The three containers landed with enough impact to create craters in the streets. Before the dust even settled the containers had already opened, and the HAMMERHEAD robots started filing out. Four of the brutes were all that came out of the containers before they closed up again. People were running away in panic, but the robots cared not for them as they made their heavy steps towards the bank doors. The concrete cracked underneath the steps as testament of how heavy those brutes really were, and the robots did not even stop to tear down the doors. They simply continued walking through it all, pushing through the walls into the building.
It was more of a wonder the robots could even move at all, and the sluggish movements were the maximum speed the robots were able to achieve. Silent alarms were triggered, but the robots continued to the back and began prying the steel door off to reach all the money. The robots did not even register the hits the security were landing on them. A mere human would cause no damage to their thick exoskeleton.
Outside the street trembled as if something was burrowing itself, and the quakes soon subsided. It would be a few more minutes until another plane came by, but Slade was monitoring everything on route. Police were already on their way as well. It was not like they would stand a chance anyways. He was simply curious as to which of the city's new heroes would be the unfortunate ones to arrive first.
