It was 3:45 on a post-Valentine day in Jump City. School was out, homework was already done, and Ellie couldn't think of a better way to reward herself for basically being 100% on top of her game than to have a small dessert at some out-of-the-way cafe (Literally, the restaurant chain's name was 'Out-of-the-way Cafe') where she wouldn't have to worry about being asked 'oh, aren't you a Cullington? Like, one of THE Cullingtons!? Can I like, have your autograph? You can write it on my forehead! No, on my baby's forehead! No, no, on this sheet of paper... and then I'll staple the paper to my forehead! You're so cool, and awesome, and way better than your other family members; Heck, YOU'RE the real talented one in that family! Those sillies can't even figure out that the person dropping half of the hints they get towards a building crime is actually living in their house! Man, are you brilliant or what?'

...That totally happened like everyday, and Ellie was not prepared to mentally take back any of what she'd just imagined recalled. Not imagined. A frown formed on the girl's face as she unconsciously lowered her own mood just by sitting at the table she'd picked out, in front of the store (she loved eating outside at restaurants with outside tables). Some parts of that story were true, anyway. There were definitely... little tidbits hidden in that story that were 100% true.


"Your banana split, miss. Enjoy, and let me know if you need anything else, okay?"


Fortunately, she cheered up shortly afterwards as her waitress eventually came skating along (the wore skates while working... for whatever reason) with her ice cream treat. Who cared about personal insecurities!? SHE HAD A BANANA SPLIT TO CONQUER. As Ellie reached out for her spoon, however, a sudden rumble caused her table, ice cream, and even herself to shake. And then another. And another. And with every rumble, the shaking grew more and more intense. Fighting the urge to make a Jurassic Park reference, Ellie looked up from her ice cream and tried to find the source of the noise... which, honestly, wasn't too hard to spot, given how many people were now running from it. It was... It was... Ellie's eyes widened. It was... Slowly, she stood from her seat as it's towering form came closer and closer. It was... My God... It was...!!!

A GIANT GOOMBA!? Yes, a giant enemy from the well-beloved Super Mario Game series was quite literally strolling up the main street, crushing cars and knocking over lamp posts as it moved. It took up the entire street, and stood as large as a building! Ellie had never seen such a thing in her life, and oddly enough, she wasn't exactly scared. Actually...

"...This looks like a job for... Some other hero!" 

She was very much excited. See, Ellie knew her own limits. She probably wasn't going to be able to save the world, or fight that thing by herself. But there were many, MANY heroes in Jump City who probably could... And Hotline would absolutely love to make their acquaintance. This was the perfect chance for her to finally meet up with, and possibly team up with a Titan! "Thanks, whoever comes up with this crazy stuff!" She blessed the writer of this thread her strangely fortunate and yet terribly unfortunate circumstances, before up and heading down a nearby alley to change into more... 'suitable' clothes.

Not before grabbing and taking her ice cream with her, though. She paid good money for that!

"Beast Boy. Is go~nna FREAK..!"

The ginger archer stowed his T.Comm. away, the picture of the gargantuan Godzilla-substitute stowed safely away for the nextime he saw his favourite animal (besides Ghostdance).
Because right now was srsbzns crisis-corner. The screaming citizens down below were proof enough. He would have to keep this thing contained until the others got here, should he find it too taxing to finish the job himself.

Considering it may not actually be a real, live Goomba he wad looking at however, Speedy had a hunch he might be able to negotiate with its pretty little pilot.

"Awwwhawhawright, Liddle Lisa. If that's you in there, we've got some talking to do..don't make me come over there!" yelled Speedy from a few rooftops over from the devastating path the game-character was blazing through traffic amd telephone poles alike.

If his hunch was INcorrect, HE'D become a Goomba, a.k.a. a brown smear on the tarmac, likened to the wax mothers like this author's everywhere scraped from their kids' ears with Q-tips, then discarded, until the child's age of accountability.

"You're at the age of accountability, ma'amselle! I can't letchya off fer these costly pranks juss'cause yer cute. The workmanship is spot-on, though."

Still assuming the giant to be mechanical at least, the archer readied one of his Stun Arrows and aimed to fire at his easy-target...
...when out of the corner of his eye, he made out what seemed to be a girl..changing. In the alley.

Clearing his throat loudly, even though his yelling had likely given him away by then, the grinning ginger called down to Ellie without further ado.

"Ohp--my bad, there, Miss. Didn'know this alley was occupied!"

Without asking any questions or watching long enough to make out her face (pffftch) in the dark, he made immediate usage of the neighbouring rooftop. It would be best to get as clear a shot off as possible anyway, right?

He let it fly right towards the middle of the thing's eyes, then loaded another for its stubby legs in case its head was as thick and impregnable as it appeared.

"You take these guys out by jumping on 'em, but I'm not heavy enough, so I'll just jump it with this!

This city was getting weird, first there was the whole ripping denominational travelers, then there was whole killer plant and cursed weapons thing. Now there were beloved Nintendo villains walking down main street with a red archer shouting something then shooting at it. Cat rolled her eyes when he started shooting at it.

The arrows bounced off the surface of the giant walking mushrooms, Why can she even say that? the Goomba just kept on walking. Cat frowned and teleported to the top of the giant mushroom. What the pufferfish it was... squishy? Cat jumped a little, bit... testing the physics (Cat had given up on following the rule of universe anymore). It gave a lot under her feet she jumped a few more times, needed more weight.

Cat jumped and teleported to the roof of a near by building. A grin split across her face as she picked a car from the side of the street and teleported over the head of the mushroom, her face dropped when the car went crash and the mushroom kept on walking. "No freaking way..." The teleporter stared for several minutes forget not following the rules of life, they had just been beaten, tossed into a bag and thrown in the river to drown. The stupid thing was playing by it down rules.

The teenage sighed and teleported over to where Speedy was and tapped him on the shoulder. "I need you to make a call..." Her voice trailed off when a Flying Koopa went by followed close behind by more giant Mario villians. "Better make it quick." WHERE WERE THEY ALL COMING FROM!

[Gaunt]

"No way..." Kaie stared up in awe at the Giant Goomba. She'd never played any of the Mario games, but there wasn't a kid between 3 and 30 that wouldn't recognize that big lumbering mushroom. This was pretty cool, but it raised a bunch of questions. For instance, how in Sam Hill was it here? Was Control Freak branching out? Kaie pondered for a moment, but soon gave up. Her skills weren't geared towards being the world's greatest detective, or even the world's most mediocre detective. She was the muscle. They showed her bad things, and she punched them.

But this was no ordinary bad thing. It took up the entire street, and was easily about twice her height. She'd have to think about how she approached this. Punching it directly could easily knock it into another building, and it was causing enough damage without her help. She'd need to go back to the classics, using ancient secrets passed down through generations. The giant hunkered down, bracing herself against the pavement. This would make a mess, but less of a mess than just letting it run free. The Godzilla Threshold had been reached, and she had to cut loose.

One of the benefits of superstrength was that you could jump like crazy when you had to. Kaie launched herself into the air high above the Goomba. "IT'S A-ME!" she bellowed, slamming down on it with a powerful stomp. The monstrous mushroom was obliterated, giving Kaie quite a bounce. She landed hard on her feet behind where it had been. Looking around, the girl breathed a sigh of relief. Amidst the destruction from the fungal kaiju, you could barely see the crater from her landing.

Ellie had to be about halfway out her favorite shoe (the right one, natch) when a certain someone made himself known. Er, well more known; Certain someones typically couldn't help but be knowable the minute they stepped on the scene. It was the titan, Speedy! Goodness! Why, if Ellie weren't totally annoyed that she was trying to be sneaky and he'd found her, she'd be ecstatic to see him! Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. "Hey, hey! Trying to go all ninja-mode, here! Sheesh, Titans these days." She complained, although the speedster was long gone by then. Of course, it meant that she definitely needed to find a better place to change, since this was now ruined. Collecting her shoe, Ellie set out to do just that. Fortunately, a block or so away from all the chaos, she found exactly what she was looking for-- A different section of alleys, this time with an overhang above it; If she didn't draw too much attention to herself, no one would see her now! 

She took one more look around for good measure (sometimes weird creepers liked to sneak around in the alleys, after all, not counting herself) before nodding in affirmation. "Alright! Moon pow-- err, Hotline power, transform~!" She declared, before pulling her black suit and the infamous headlights from her backpack. A girl had to be prepared to fight crime at all hours of the day, after all! Once more taking off her beloved right shoe, Ellie slipped into her fancy black duds, slipped out of her 'innocent little schoolgirl' gimmick, slipped on the headlights, and slipped her 'Totes a badarse techno-hacker-ninja-karate-detective-fighter girl who doesn't take no for an answer unless the question is, like, Do you hate pina colada pops' attitude. So basically, a lot of slipping was involved! And suddenly, Hotline was a thing. 

"Okay! Time to go beat Super Mario Bros... again." She said to herself with an all-knowing smirk, before retrieving ye olde Bat Automated Grappling Hook of Bat Awesomeness (not saying the full name would only cheapen it's otherwise amazingness) from her belt, and firing a line up to the top of the retail building she was currently hiding out behind. With cat-like athleticism, she flew and flipped gracefully onto the top of the building, landing on both feet before taking a quick look around; The goomba was missing.

And in it's place was a girl darn-near it's size. Or maybe the headlights were malfunctioning in the daytime? She... nope, the girl was definitely really large. 

"...Well, that takes care of one, I guess?" Hotline shrugged, not sure where everyone was getting their mushroom power-ups from, and kinda wishing she had one as well. She rushed back towards the street the goomba had been rampaging down, leaping from rooftop to rooftop until she stood just a building away from little big miss Mario, and took another look around; the active lenses on the headlights notably changing by the different coordination of lights on it's visor. Apparently a goomba wasn't enough; Starting on it's way down the same street were even more Mario-inspired monstrosities, just as big as-- if not bigger-- than the one that'd just been stopped! Two, 15-foot tall Koopas lead an army of slightly smaller bloopers (which didn't make sense; this wasn't an underwater stage), boos, and chain chomps; Which were being held by Shy Guys.

Hotline rubbed her temples just trying to comprehend it. They were going to need a LOT of jumping power, apparently. Maybe Tigger was free today... Maybe they could go and grab Billy Hatcher, if he wasn't busy? Or, or sonic? A couple pokemon? Since gaming was apparently the theme of today's madness, it was worth a shot.

First he'd almost become a peeping Titan, and in the next moment it seemed a new mysterious strangerette was asking him for payphone-change or somat.
Couldn't she see there was a situation going on? How did she get on the roof?
OhRight.
He wasn't the only hero around this city, and chances are his new companion and the more-known Rumble down there (by his civilian self at least) were the ones with the rights to be called 'supers', on account of the powers they both likely had.

"Ah? Oh, of course. Who should I make it out to, m'lady?"
He was referring to the phone-call Catastor wanted him to make, not an autograph, but the line so often crossed his lips for the lattereason that even he wasn't sure which he meant at first.

Could that alley-girl have been more reinforcements too?
If that haircut was any indication, said alleygirl wasn't too far from Rumble at the moment.

Who had just formed another crater from taking that Goomba out, not even considering the amazing lift-off crater she'd made just moments before.

Reaching into his Quiver for 3 more Stun Arrows and the same number of Nets, he quickly transitioned from the shock, awe and appreciation of his gianteammate to realizing the unexpected game-ranks had more mayhem in store for their little makeshift resistance band-o'-brothers.

Ermn. Sisters?
Speedy's Angels?
Whatever.

"Here; it's on speakerphone; just tell my Communicator who you'd like to ring up!"

Speedy motioned to the girl who'd tapped his shoulder to make her call as he loosed a volley of arrows at their impending doom.
Electric attacks might not have worked on the more obvious Jump Me! Goombas, but those Bloopers and electricity must not be able to mix well. First, he trapped 6 of them under his Net shots, then used the Stun Arrows to throw a charge through their hopefully non-resistant bodies.

As for the Boos and Shy Guys? He'd have to get behind them to have any hope of inflicting damage, if the game-mechanics could still be trusted.

That went triple for those nasty looking, mega-Chain Chomps.
He didn't feel like a K.O. that painful today.

Catastor watched as Kaie crushed another Goomba, thanking Karmi the giant had arrived. "Never mind she's already here. Call anyone you think can play full scale Mario otherwise thanks and good luck." Teleporting powers at the present time were useless or not... Cat like most of her wonderfully lucky generation had played the original Mario games, and remembered most of the villains and how to defeat them, but she wasn't one hundred percent sure on some of them, like the GIANT CHAIN COMPS!. Anne remeberd avoiding them on levels and getting knocked down a lot. She didn't remember, how to kill it.

Presently the teleporter looked around a moment before she grinned wickedly seeing koopa leading the way. That was something that she did remember, those shell were evil double edge sword of death now if she could just kill the Koopa. Now the question was did Kaie know about Koopa shells or did she ever play Mario. It was here nor there at the moment she needed to talk to someone.

Cat teleported down to the one person that looked like they knew what in the good name of Nintendo was going on. "I come in peace. You seem like the only one that has any idea what is going on so to cut to the short of it. What can I do to help?"

Oh, this was bad. No sooner had Kaie squished the big fella than two more replacements showed up with an army in tow. They seemed to be keeping with the Mario theme. The giantess was pretty confused. Was Control Freak branching out, or was there a new villain in town? This seemed to be a pretty powerful display, had Control Freak ever done anything this big? She wasn't too up on his antics, she generally paid more attention to the cool supers. Control Freak was just kinda sad and weird.

A scowl crossed Kaie's face when she saw the thief. She remembered this one, the one who'd made her and Spoiler look like chumps back at the docks. She would have loved to throw this girl in the slammer, but now there were more pressing concerns. They had a Nintendo army to fight, and the teleporter could be useful here. She'd just have to be ready in case the crook turned on them. For all she knew, the villain might have hired her.

"So whas the plan?" Kaie knelt down next to Speedy. She was pretty sure the Titan knew what he was doing better than anyone else there did. He had a lot of hero experience with the Titans East and all. For her part, Kaie had barely any experience in super fights. She'd had maybe three or four since joining the Titans. "I can do a Fastball Special if anyone's up fer it." She wasn't sure if anyone there could withstand that, but might as well put it out there. Maybe the teleporter could swap with monsters in the air or something.

Maaaaan, things were going kinda bad now. Mr. Archer from above, raining down electric arrow net things, Jill the Giant on ground level playing the role of heroic Godzilla... But as nice as it was to see some heroes doing what heroes do best (destroy the environment around them accidentally and not be blamed for it), Hotline knew that 9 times out of 10, giant Mario villains didn't just appear and decide to parade through town. It just wasn't a thing that happened. So where were they coming from?

Time for some recon. HOTLINE STYLE. Cue the montage!!!

While both Speedy and Rumble were busy doing their thing (destroying Jump City, but whatevs) Hotline stepped back into the alleyway she just stepped out of in a show of next-level backtracking, and pulled out, of all things, her phone. Sure, it seemed like a really, really bad time to go playing around with apps and whatnot, but somewhere out there (in her room, at her house to be specific), a computer remotely turned itself on, and began processing at the speed of [CLASSIFIED]. Sure, it was nice to be behind the wheel, so to speak, and do her thing from home, but Hotline was never, EVER too far from her database, or her hacking tools.

"Okay, nintendrones, take me to your leader..." She muttered as she began working on accessing Jump's Local free-access surveillance cameras remotely. Maybe she could track them back to their origin point. If nothing else, she could get a good idea of just how many of them there were, and-- Suddenly, lack of personal space. Hotline nearly dropped her phone as out of thin air, another (hopefully) helping hand 'came in piece'. By teleporting right next to her.

"Ack-- Sheesh! I bet you do that to your buddies all the time..." Once she gained her composure again, however, she gave her a quick look-over. Well, she was definitely a super (the porting gave it away... probably), so why not? "...Tell you what, though, if you can poof forward a couple blocks and see just how many of these things there are, or where they're--" She began, before a 'ding' from her phone alerted Hotline to look down, and find that her home rig had triangulated a fairly nice chunk of area to search, based on the couple of cameras she was able to hit.

"...Well, that narrows things a bit! We've just gotta hit the source... which is somewhere in the East residential area of Jump City... Residential area?" Hotline stopped herself, confused at her own words.

These things were coming from... someone's HOUSE?

Catastor's well-wishes and request weren't lost on the Titan as he tried to make as short work as possible of the ever-approaching destruction that were Mario villains.
As she vanished to offer assistance elsewhere, he addressed Kaie.

“Wait, you saw that episode too? I was pretty awesome wasn't I~?”

When Kaie mentioned that Fastball Special of her’s, he was immediately reminded of his time using himself as a human projectile with the help of the bridge cables and a handyman's truck, due to Control Freak’s handicaps on his team when Titans East had been watching Jump for Robin.

“Ermn, nevermind. Now, while I love the all-American sound of that baseball blitz idea, I’m a liddle apprehensive about launching comrades into fifty-foot-plus dangeright away. Pretty sure I know how most of us’ll end up if we make accelerated physical contact with behemoth squad o’er yonder, too; not-well. Why, even my fortitude has limits, believe it or not~.” he chuckled nervously, casting light on that 'limit' as being his precious face; if it was any launcher than Kaie's brute strength, such as that makeshift truck and bridge combo of a stretch! ago, he would've been firsto volunteer.

They might very well be pushed to resorto such measures sooner or later, though.

He had managed to quell the tracks of a grand total of 3 out of 10 of the giant-but-not-overly-giant?-Bloopers, and out of those, only 2 had vanished into thin air, leaving thankfully flimsy, non-heavy looking equally gargantuan gold coins in their wake.

He had the passing thought they may be chocolate inside.

But this wasn’t the dollar store, and he didn’t have time to be distracted any longer.

“Unfortunately for us, ouresident game expert Beast Boy's feelin' unner the weather today. But, when duty calls, he's always good for strategy outreach when it comes ta gaming! Based on this message from the poor liddle gamewhiz, we can take outhose Chomps by chucking..hammers attem? Or throwin' bombs inta their mouths..?”

Speedy flashed Kaie his T.Comm. with bedridden-BB's transmissions, then readied some Explosive Arrows.

"Think you can fashion a decent hammer out've a bus-stop kiosk or three there, Rumble?"
Speedy trusted their newer teammate could get creative.
Showing her some more of beast Boy's notes, it seemed they could get rid of the Shy Guys the same way as the Chomps; with hammer-swings or punching, and Boos by punching them from behind when they became tangible. As for the Koopas, she would have to jump them from behind to loosen their shells, then ride their own shells as some kind of skateboard apparatus and run them over.

He overheard Hotline's exclamation, something about the residential area, then backed up until he was at the centre of attention of the ragtag group, more or less.

"If you've found outhe source of the madness, we're gonna hafta split up, team! SupeRumble'n I'll play the brawns, carve a pathrough these things; you two scout ahead and try to triangulate the basement Supernerd is broadcasting his transmissions of evil from. We'right behindjya!"

Withat, he returned to ExplosiveArrowing the enemy's ranks, beginning with aiming for the Chomps' chops.
