Contrary to popular belief Jump was a lot older than people thought, or well the tunnels were. There were the subway tunnels and sewer ones, if one could stand the smell, there was a surprising one smugger tunnel. Cat hadn't expected Jump, or its foundations anyway, to date back to prohibition era, but it and along with that history came some surprises. The tunnels crisscrossed the older sewers and ran into some of the subway lines.
Catastor had taken it upon herself to map them out when she had free time. She wasn't the only one down here, there had been several drug holes (those had been cleaned out and reported to Mr Nos) and homeless. What had surprised her was there the underground clubs and shops, it was all relatively small compared to what was topside, but it was amazing. She had met several caps and rouges that were hanging around. The thief left one of the crazier areas to map out some more.
Kaedan, an alien warrior from space, now living on a planet on which he had barely any knowledge of. After his meeting with Raven and receiving a strange device, he had been offered some suggestions on where to live. He would have originally chosen the outskirts of the city, in the woods, except for the fact of his interest in this human race. His military training had kicked in by instinct and his immediate mission now was to gather as much information on humans as possible.
From his first experience, they seemed rather kind and intelligent. However, just seeing his face brought screams of fear and looks of distrust or wariness. He found a place where he could commingle with humans and remain obscure.
The Underground.
Here, he could move through the city easily without fear. He now trudged through some of the more abandoned tunnels, hopeful in perhaps finding a home. It wouldn't be a true home, for him, it would be a base of operations. A camp or temporary living space until he found some place better.
Kaedan stalked through the tunnels with the cowl of his black trenchcoat pulled up over his head to hide his wolfish features. He heard subway trains in the distance, and was wary of the noises. He also saw strange earth virmen. Then... He heard the footsteps. He was curious, but decided to ignore them for now. His muscles tensed however, ready for any pickpockets, which he had run into before. Unlucky for them, he didn't have anything of value, lucky for them though, he had let them go, they were only children after all.
"Let see this is the third turn from the main way...." The teleporter was staring down at her poorly drawn map, not really paying attention to where she was going, till she ran into pole. She stumbled back, teleporting randomly several times before ending up by a side tunnel. Her face dropped, HFIL. This was not good.
She had found herself in the middle of drug deal and they did not look happy to see her. Reflexively she blocked and shifted pulling out her staff and respond in kind, hitting one in the back of the head and taking a step back making her way to the main tunnel fending off attacks from the two other goons. She knocked out the last one before backing into someone. Reflexively she twisted out and tried to take out the new comer
Kaedan had heard noises of fighting and was drawn to it. An instinct from his training drove him towards it. He arrived and saw someone outnumbered. He was going to join in the fight when he saw the major beatdown the stranger had delivered to the thugs.
However when he saw the stranger takedown the last one she had turned and ran smackdab into him. So entranced was he by the fighting he had just watched in respect and awe.
Now though, she had sprang back and seemed ready to attack. Kaedan hopped backwards and tried to assume a nonthreatening pose, standing straightbacked and arms crossed. "You fight well. My respects, warrior." He said in what he hoped was a neutral tone.
He wondered what had been the cause for the fight, but it was insignificant, on his own homeworld, fights were common. They were even encouraged, to strengthen the soldiers and keep them on their toes. The fights were generally managed by senior officers who would intervene only if one of the combatants was on the brink of death.
"My apologies for startling you." Kaedan said simply.
She paused when the hooded figure didn't attack her and instead stood there, doing nothing. Cat put the staff away and pulled out a phone setting up an app to translate speech. She held it up and looked at the man. "I can't hear and I won't ask you to remove your hood so could you speak again please."
The Underground was a haven for all sort, many were good upstanding citizens that didn't want their identities known. There were also aliens and rouges. Cat was beyond the point where you could faze her, well she thought so.
Kaedan looked at the device, puzzled. He had seen something similar on his home planet, but only the officers and higher ups had such devices. When the stranger said she couldn't hear it also puzzled him, but on his home planet there was a strange deformation known as no-ear in some newborns. They were born with no ears and couldn't hear anything. Kaedan understood in a few short moments what was going on. The device was going to be used so the stranger could understand what he was saying.
"I was simply complimenting your combat expertise, Warrior." Kaedan said with a small bow of his head in respect. "I also apologize for having startled you." he continued on.
Cat looked at the screen before bowing in return. "Thank you. It was nothing, they were thugs and drug dealers." She stood and cleared the screen, looking at the man again. "People call me Catastor. If I may ask, what are you called?" It was curious to meet someone down here that spoke so formally; there was Mr Nos but he didn't really count, he rarely went out in the tunnels.
Kaedan looked confused at the term Drug dealers, he didn't have any of those on his homeworld. However, he had heard of thugs, and if drug dealers were associated with thugs then those were bad news indeed.
Kaedan looked at Cat from under his hood. "My name is Kaedan Shadowblade, an honor to meet you, Catastor." He replied politely crossing his fist across his chest in salute. "I myself am new to this place... this city I mean." He continued on.
He didn't want to give away his alien identity, but he feared that his strange way of speaking may do just that. He had heard other humans speak with their 'yo yos and hollas' he didn't know what that was, but he had failed miserably when he had attempted. He hoped that Catastor would only think it was her translating device that was being proper and not him.
"Are you new here as well?" He asked, he doubted it, but it was more to get the conversation off himself and back to the stranger.

The roleplay takes place after the series end of the original Teen Titans animated show, but does not include the movie Trouble in Tokyo. Since then Robin has been on something of a recruiting spree, and many new young heroes have found themselves a home in Jump City as well as Titan Tower.
