Alphy eventually made it home after(almost a week after) his fight and found himself laying in bed a few days later. It gave him time to read and try to improve his fighting technique but while he was injured he would be limited to less strenuous activity. That's how he ended up reading the Tai Chi Chuan text book by Chen Pan Ling. Tai Chi Chuan is an “internal” martial art that focuses on self control and discipline rather than developing power. It's also supposed to be therapeutic and traditionally was known as a cure for tuberculosis and strengthening the elderly. Despite reading the book, there was little he could do while he tried to keep his leg immobilized.
While reading he tried to do the arm motions and what little footwork he could with one foot put up in bed. It was great actually, taking his mind off the pain, that he could learn better technique while being lame. "All I need is a sparring partner to help me learn how to use it in combat." Slowly he looked up from the book examining the wall and door out of habit, he didn't want to be seen, before carefully swinging his leg out from the side and trying to stand. His knee brace kept his kneecap in the right place, but it didn't stop the pain that brought him to the floor.
Alphy lay there thinking about his options, “You really did it this time Alphy. Your family is mad at you for shaming the family name and the Teen Titans think you're a loser. Next thing you know someone's going to come in here and find you on the floor and think you're a weakling.”
And then...
