Title: Control
Characters: Beast Boy and Safyra
Fandom: Teen Titans
Summary: Beast Boy is at a scene of destruction, when he finds a strange girl. He decides to talk to her.
Rating: G
No she couldn't. And she hated herself for it. But more importantly, her powers were bigger than she was. Her body was fire, literal fire that could burn anything that she interacted with. She glanced down at her gloved hands, then at the wall, anywhere but the green eyes that were curiously staring at her, awaiting her answer.
For the green teen, this brought up all too familiar memories. Even though the thoughts of the last girl who couldn't grasp control of the earth was tearing him up inside, he had a stupid grin on his face. When her red eyes has nowhere to look but him, she had a half smile at his cheer.
"See, I got you to smile!" The green bean seemed excited enough that he forgot his inquiry, momentarily. If only he could stay distracted. If only everyone could.
But they couldn't. And she hated herself for that too.
A few more seconds of relieving silence was broken by the prepubescent boys voice asking his question again. The girl just looked at the ground, the charred sidewalk, the burnt trees and the cars and buildings that still had small flames raging on, despite the best efforts of the firefighters. The damage was too great though.
It made her wonder why the teenage hero was even speaking to her. It was no secret who the Teen Titans were, and she knew that this was Beast Boy, the shapeshifter. Why didn't he became an aquatic creature and put out the fire, and put out her? Instead he approached her and plopped down on a rock in front of her and began chatting with her.
Despite his supposed lack of intelligence, he could tell she wasn't inherently evil. So he spoke to her. She tried to brush him off as another superhero trying to apprehend her, but he promised her he wouldn't attack her, that she didn't need to be afraid of him. Eventually, she let him know she wasn't with fire powers, she was actual fire. She couldn't turn it off, couldn't have a moment where it was at rest. It would be like a human turning off their skin, impossible.
That lead to his question. She still didn't want to answer, didn't want to admit defeat. So instead she turned to walk away.

"No. I cannot."
