771 words One major downside of weighing over a tonne, catching a plane is kind of impossible. So, not one to give up easily, Kira had hitched a ride on a container ship. For over a month she was cooped up on that (relatively) tiny metal boat, and she could have sworn her feet had worn a groove into the deck from the amount of times she ran laps out of pure boredom. Sure there had been some highlights, like taking a swim with a whale as the Wolf. But she had literally just finished washing that ever present scent of salt from her hair that morning. She had no desire to stink like rotten fish again any time soon. With her enhanced sense of smell it was like a constant acrid tickle in the back of her nose. Kira’s head tilted to the left as her face scrunched up in visible thought. However the scrunching did not stop once her nose was wrinkled. Instead the ripple spread down her neck and across her body, fur erupting in its wake. A low growl that could almost be likened to a wolf sigh escaped from her throat as she fell to her Throwing her head back, wolfy Kira let out a deafening howl in excitement. She was so close to them now. The brain-numbing, morale-destroying, fishly-stinking, trial-by-boat was over, and she had this one last hurdle to concur before she could meet the heroes she longed to befriend. Tail wagging, tongue lolling, Kira dug her claws into the pavement. Her enormous muscles bunched together in anticipation, and, with a wolfy grin, released. The pavement shattered under the force of her push, just as her massive body was propelled into a great arc out over the bay. Her fur disappeared as the wind whipped past fast enough to bring tears to her eyes. Paws retreated back into gloved hands, and fangs became normal teeth. Kira let loose a wild squeal of pure joy, flinging her arms outwards as she peaked and started to descend towards the solid ground of the Island. The squeal was cut short when her body belly flopped like a small meteor onto the rocks. Nothing stirred as the dust from her impact swirled away. But as the dust settled, Kira rolled over onto her back, child-like giggles pouring from her unblemished lips. Wiping the windswept tears from her eyes, Kira got to her feet, still giggling. Her only injury, a small tear in her pants. Like a Meerkat on sentry duty, Kira’s head darted one way and then another, trying to take in every detail she could. And that’s when she realised she was not alone. Not alone cause the Island defences are activating >.< Feel free to take this thread wherever you like, but i'm hoping it will end up being Kira's recruitment thread. |
