This was a pretty nice place he'd been set up with. Well, not nice by conventional standards. It was an old trailer tucked away in a run-down part of town, but it was home. The Experiment was still laying low so he had stayed in so far, but just knowing that he was free to leave was amazing. He had his own place, his own food, his own schedule. Life was amazing.
What he lacked, however, were his own clothes. He'd been getting by so far with the jumpsuit he'd taken from the lab, but that wouldn't get him far in the outside world. It made him look like an escaped convict. He really needed some new threads, but Silverwing had promised to arrange that for him. She'd been real nice to him so far, especially considering how tense their first meeting had been. He shook his head when he thought back on it. He should have listened to his instincts and trusted her from the start. His sense had never steered him wrong before, and it hadn't then either.
He relaxed a bit, flipping channels. Controlling the TV was a new feeling for him. Back in the lab, they'd carefully controlled what he watched in a failed attempt to mold his psyche. Here, he could watch cartoons all day if he wanted. That was exactly what he was doing when the program was interrupted. He sat up straight, staring at the screen. There were reports of an unknown animal attacking and chasing people around the city. There were no images, but the description was familiar. It sounded just like something he'd heard of back at the lab.
