Patrol sirens blared as red and blue lights flashed, police cars speeding down the street after the object of their chase. Specifically, they were chasing after a familiar blue-skinned magician currently enjoying himself flying a magically enchanted children’s rocket ride. His long-lanky body didn’t exactly fit, but that didn’t matter much when it was spitting actual rocket flames from the back of it. Spare dollar bills flew behind him, the sack of money and other objects between his legs flapping around a bit.
Seeing as the cops weren’t giving up, Mumbo turned around.
”Seems you all are really taking off. Presto Levioso!” Mumbo said, his wand waved as the police guards suddenly gained the power of flight, speeding right past him and into the sky as the cops lost control. City of supers or not, Jump City police force were not trained for aircraft.
Kaie wasn't far off when she heard the sirens. It sounded like a pretty big chase, probably a large-scale robbery of some kind. Just the kind of action she'd been hoping to see! The giant took off at a run, careful to avoid any cars or pedestrians as she did. She was making a few new cracks in the ground here and there, but she'd gotten better at running lightly since becoming an official superhero.
She stepped out into the street ahead of the chase. The Jump PD cars were already airborne, but they were used to dealing with supers. Even if they couldn't control them, which they apparently couldn't, those cars were designed to be thrown by the likes of Mammoth. The officers inside would be fine. Right now, Rumble's main focus was on the escaping crook. This was Mumbo, the loopy magician that the Titans had clashed with several times. Kaie braced herself, putting her hands out. She caught the rocket under her arm, leaving tracks in the pavement as she fought against its momentum. "Curtain call, Mumbo!" she shouted, puffing up a bit with pride. Her first real heroic one-liner! She'd have to remember that one, maybe someone caught it on film.
Mumbo’s joyful laughter was interrupted by the sight of the giant girl standing in his path. Jerking the lever he tried to pull up, but it wasn’t enough in time to prevent the rocket getting caught.
”Sorry dear but this is just the opening act. Mumbo Jumbo!”
And like that Jumbo was spring-boarded out of the rocket far above even the giantess’s reach. And even if she tried, the package of short-fused bombs left in the rocket was going to be the more pressing issue. And with that magic rocket fuel, the resulting explosion was going to provide quite a bang.
Mumbo, meanwhile, shifted his cape into a lovely parachute as he made his way onto the rooftops. Once he hit solid ground it was off to the races as he started running.
For a second there, she kind of did think it would be that easy. In hindsight, Rumble really should have known that the magician would have tricks up his sleeve. She looked to see where he was going before wondering what that noise was from inside the rocket. Looking back, her eyes widened. He'd filled it with bombs! Kaie put all her giant strength into it, tossing the rocket straight up with all her might. It whooshed past Mumbo, exploding in the sky above them.
The rooftop chase was a little more difficult. With her weight, Kaie couldn't safely follow him up there. Running would no doubt collapse a roof or two. She positioned herself across the street from him, using her height and an occasional jump to keep an eye on where he was. Mumbo was light on his feet, but Kaie's stride was much longer than a human's. She could easily keep pace with him. "Is no gonna be that easy, Mumbo. Give up now, it'll be easier on ya!" she shouted, moving to try to cut him off. This was something she hadn't been able to showcase often. People usually assumed that she was slow because of her size, but they didn't take into account that her legs were taller than most people's entire bodies. She didn't take as many steps, but her steps counted for quite a bit more. With another leap, Kaie grabbed at the magician, trying to at least drag him down to street level.
The sidewalk repair crews were not gonna like this.
Mumbo watched as his rocket shot up into the sky before exploding in a lovely blast of fireworks and explosions. He glanced back at the giant who had done the work.
”Somebody has been drinking there milk,” he deadpanned as he landed on his rooftop before making a run for it.
He soon found himself with a jogging partner, the giant Titan running on the street across from him commanding him to give up. Titans were so predictable. Still, when they start leaping at you they do make you pay attention. Unfortunately for her Mumbo was as dodgy and slippery as his mind, and he evaded her grab by backflipping towards the edge of the roof away from her. Being a hero she obviously wasn’t going to follow him on the rooftops; she’d squish the inhabitants.
”The Amazing Mumbo can handle a tough audience. Abra Cadabra!” he said, a wave of his wand summoning forth a pair of novelty handcuffs that shot forth to try and capture the Titan’s hands.
Man, and Mumbo already had a quip ready. Kaie really needed to work on her in-fight banter. She hadn't had a lot of opportunities to use it with her role as a deterrent, so she was super out of practice. Or rather, she'd had almost no practice. Most of her encounters so far had been banter-free, either shouting strategery back and forth with other Titans or just being silent and all business. Those weren't as fun. Except suplexing Cinderblock, that was great.
Well, that didn't go as planned. Kaie's grab missed, and she was rewarded for her trouble with a pair of giant-sized handcuffs. She landed on the sidewalk below, puzzling over the cuffs for a moment. Did he ever use them for-no, ew, bad thoughts. Kaie kept running, straining against the cuffs. She wasn't sure how much force they could take, but she could swing a bus. It would take some serious toughness to hold her in. In the meantime, her running was a little slowed by her restricted arms. She could still keep pace, but it was more difficult keeping her balance.
The handcuffs probably wouldn’t keep the giantess contained for long, but he wouldn’t need a lot of time for the pièce de résistance. From the looks of things she was already having some balance issues. The Amazing Mumbo, however, would be glad to add to those.
”You know what they say about size; the bigger they are, the harder they fall!” he said, pointing his wand at a lamp post across the street as a series of tied handkerchiefs zoomed across, forming a tripwire in front of Kaie. He slowed down a bit, wanting to see if the giant Titan was going to fall. And if she did, well, he was already prepared to yell “TIMBER!”
With a last heave, Kaie tore out of the handcuffs. The broken metal clattered to the ground and the giantess held up her arms triumphantly, showing off to Mumbo. "Ha! Is that all ye got?" she shouted, tempting fate. Rumble couldn't quite hear what he was saying while she was shouting this, but it sounded like something about bigness. She had a moment to puzzle over it before hitting the tripwire.
Those must have been some magically-enhanced handkerchiefs, because they were enough to topple the Titan. She had to wear special cloth to keep from accidentally tearing it with her strength, and here this stuff could stand up to her hitting it at a run. The sidewalk was less fortunate, cracking as she faceplanted on the concrete. The giant got back to her feet, groaning in pain and rubbing her bloodied nose. This didn't look good for her, taking her first real hit as a superhero from the pavement. She looked around, trying to see if she could catch up with the magician. She was mad now, and had to recover some face after slamming it into the ground. She wasn't going to let him get away easy.
Yep, he got to do it! Taking a deep breath, as the Titan began to fall, he yelled out, ”TIIIIIMMMBBEEERRRR!”
He finished off with a laugh as the Titan hit the ground. But it wasn’t too long before he remembered he was running away at this point. Looking around, he spotted a manhole cover. Perfect: no way she was going to chase after him down there.
Jumping from the rooftop, he landed on the cover. He gave one last bow to the Titan as he waved his wand and whisked the cover away.
”You’ve been a lovely audience my dear, but it’s time for Mumbo to exit the stage,” he said, his magic finishing up and letting him fall on down the hole as the cover slid back on.
Still, just in case she tried to reach in after him, she would find a giant mousetrap at the bottom of the ladder, springed and ready to snap on any unsuspecting hero.
Okay, that was it. "I'm not a tree!" Kaie shouted, fuming and chasing after him. Not a brilliant comeback, but she was too mad for those now. One of the sillier villains in the Titans rogues' gallery had made a complete fool of her, right in front of the whole town. She jumped up to grab at him just as he jumped from his rooftop perch. Her hand swept by where he had been, and the magician jumped easily over her.
"Git back here!" Kaie scrambled after him, seconds too late. He was already down the manhole. She got down on the ground, reaching around and trying not to think of what was down there. The super suit was waterproof and easy-wash, so hopefully it wouldn't be a problem. The mousetrap, on the other hand...
Kaie yelped, pulling her hand out of the manhole. There was a giant old-fashioned mousetrap on her hand, and it hurt like HFIL. It wasn't enough to get through her suit, but still painful. She smashed it apart on the pavement, gathering up the pieces to take back. Maybe they could be evidence or something. She just didn't want to come back empty-handed after all that trouble.

The roleplay takes place after the series end of the original Teen Titans animated show, but does not include the movie Trouble in Tokyo. Since then Robin has been on something of a recruiting spree, and many new young heroes have found themselves a home in Jump City as well as Titan Tower.
