Fred had been stranded in Jump City for many week now and he was going crazy. Everything here was so different from his home. Not that many people were very nice, his powers had been downgraded to the point of him being able to feel pain, and the colors were so dull. That last one was truly the worse part. Color was such an important factor to Fred's world, but here the color schemes were so realistic and nobody seemed to care. As Fred was just about to give up on finding any bright side to his current predicament, he spotted bright and colorful lights in the distance. As he ran towards the lights, he began to notice that he was nearing the ocean shore and the lights were coming from a place hanging above the water.
As Fred approached the Boardwalk, he felt the warm feeling of coming home after a long journey even though he was not truly home. Still, this place was a beautiful treasure trove of color and fun. He had to know what this palce was called.
"Excuse me," he said, approaching the nearest person around, "Could you kindly tell me what they call this place?"

"Oh, it's called an amusement park."
Whelp, today was gonna be weird. The red mage had been on patrol, and decided to cut through the amusement park, partly to get a footlong coney-style chilli dog, partly to just see the sights he hadn't seen yet. But here he was, being stopped by a fox creature the size of a young boy. Wearing clothes. Granted, he had seen MUCH stranger in his lifetime. He was between songs when he was stopped, so he thumbed his earbuds out of his ears just as Gojira's The Art of Dying was sartnig to play, and picked up his MP3 player long enough to pause it. In rerospect, the music he listened to lately had gotten a lot more heavy.
"People come here for fun, usually. Ride the rides, see the exhibits, play games."
He gave a small smile, not really weirded out. Hell, he was dressed pretty weirdly, all in red with a scarf on despite the summer heat. Magical clothing had some benefit, however, and at least the hat kept the sun out of his eyes. He pulled his scarf down from over his mouth, and spoke again.
"I was about to go buy a coney dog. You want one?"
Fred was relieved to hear some kind words come out of Sterling's mouth. This kind figure had even offered him a chili dog, which happened to exist in Fred's version of Earth. Maybe this place wasn't such a nightmare after all.
"That would be great," Fred said, accepting Sterling's offer, "and thanks for the info. As you probably guessed, I'm not from around here. In fact, this place is the only thing remotely similar to home for me. What with the colors and the feel of fun and happiness."
Fred sighed and looked out at the sea.
"In truth, I haven't quite gotten used to how people usually act around here," he continued, "Where I come from people have a sense of optimism and kindness to them, like you. However, most of the people in this city seem so pessimistic and haven't really been much help to me. Not to mention the colors outside of this amusement park are so bleak and toned down. To make matters worse, I have no way of getting back home."
Fred sighed again and turned back to Sterling.
"But enough of that," he said, "Let's go get those chili dogs. By the way, would you mind paying for mine? The money I have comes from my world, so it's pretty much worthless."

Sterling knew what he was saying. It was even worse, sometimes, when you had sycophants and posers trying to get your parents money on a regular basis. Granted, it wasn't actually worse than being stuck in a new, dreary world, but Sterling could have his pity parties.
"I can't say I know how you feel..."
He gave a reassuring smile.
"But everything's better when you've got friends, right? My name's Sterling. And I had already intended to buy you the chilli dog. I did offer."
Sterling chuckled. The T-Comm he had gotten from Robin, dang that was a good night, weighing heavy in his pocket. It was sitting in his jacket pocket, reminding him of the duties he had to uphold now. It was humbling, really. He idly wondered if he actually had time to take out of his patrol, then remembered exactly how many teenage superheroes that were more effective than him were also patrolling, and decided he could.
He pointed out the coney dog stand.
"They sell up to three-footers, what kind you want?"
He motioned the young-looking fox boy over to the stand as he walked toward it, his mouth practically watering. He really needed to remember breakfast tomorrow.
"It's nice to meet you too, Fred. Always good to find a friendly face, am I right?"
Sterling laughed. He motioned Fred to follow him to the stand selling the chilli dogs, and then he ordered. A two footer for Fred, a three footer for himself. Magic, after all, did really weird things to his metabolism. Some days he didn't need to eat, other days he was ravenously hungry all day long.
"So what brings you to this world?"
The wizard asked the question curiously, with no malice whatsoever. He wa honestly just wondering. He kinda felt bad for the little guy. As the guy gave them the chilli dogs, he tried to keep Sterling from paying for them. Apparently his dad had outright given him the startup money for his stand, no strings attatched, and he had recognized the young man's getup a mile away.
Sterling forced him to accept the money on the grounds that he had a family to feed, and the man chuckled and gave in, and Sterling handed the lage chilli dog to the cartoonish lad next to him, nursing his own larger dog. Plastic forks were practically required with as much chillie and cheese that these hot dogs held.
It was truly amazing.

The roleplay takes place after the series end of the original Teen Titans animated show, but does not include the movie Trouble in Tokyo. Since then Robin has been on something of a recruiting spree, and many new young heroes have found themselves a home in Jump City as well as Titan Tower.
