" Maybe the Scarab didn't give Ted Kord any powers because... he was good.
Maybe something inside of me... something not good... activates the armor "
To most the spray of the ocean water is cool, refreshing, and enough to bring anyone to an alert state. As the sun was getting ready to crest over the horizon however, there was one soul who could barely keep his eyes open. To be fair, the speckles of water drifting up from the turbid ocean were falling on numbed skin. He knew what it should feel like, he had been to the ocean before and felt the lash of wind carried water before. With the scarabs body suit protecting him now, everything was dulled. Water beaded over it and dripped off like the wind shield of a car, at these speeds it even formed long trails over his armoured body. What should tickle and chill to the bone was barely noticeable to the exhausted teen.
It made sense having a the suit reduce nerve sensitivity. Without it the few battles he had been in would have crippled him with pain in the first few seconds. Impacting the earth after an unconscious plummet from space had hurt badly enough even with the desensitized shell, he didn't want to even entertain the thought of having gone without. Armour or not, if you could feel the pain it could be just a crippling as actual damage. Right now, it would really have been nice to get at least a bit of that cold splash to sink in and snap him out of his dazed and tired state. "Next time..we fly up the land way. There is nothing to look at out here and no where to land." Jaime complained to himself. Many would call this the first signs of insanity, but he knew there was actually 'someone' listening. The scarab was always a part of him, ever present, ever listening. Taking it upon itself tot try and run his body and life, something he was not ready to hand over to what ever this malicious little back bug was. At least it made for company on the long trips, though it was no were near the 'good' variety.
~Fastest rout was requested.~ Jaime grumbled as the scarab reminded him that it was his choice. As close to a choice as he was getting that is. Most certainly the back bug would have still sent him out over the water even if he had chosen he land rout. It was a handy gadget, but he could do with out the subtle insults and negative programming. "Gracias...I remember. You could have at least told me it would be boring." ~Boredom: Incalculable and Irrelevant~ Jaime scoffed the scarab under his breath "Irrelevant? Ha! When we crash because I dose off maybe then you'll see how relevant it is" Shaking his head he watched the waves go by below as he had been for what felt like days worth of flying already. Closing his eyes for just a second he imagined what it would be like to be back home in his bed. Back where once the biggest worry in his life was if he would get his math homework done. Instead he was headed for Jump City to find a group of talented and diverse heroes to look for answers about a weird robot bug that had dug in and set up shop on his spine. History tests seemed like a breeze after being on an alien space ship and getting lost between dimensions for over a year.
~Impact eminent: Avert course~ Jaime let his eyes slowly open, still staring down at the ocean below, now with a groan on his lips to go with the bags under his eyes. "Its the open ocean, what on earth could I possibly hi....." unable to finish his sentence Jaime was forced to bank hard to the right to avoid a tanker. The never blaring as the tiny blue bug suited teen blended in to well with the ocean around him. His hand cut across the top of a wave as his shoulder brushed for a second over the steel hull. Rolling he pulled himself away from the ship as fast as possible before looking back to watch it sink into the distance out to sea. "...t" He finished his last thought with a pant to his breath. "That was TOO close"
~Impact eminent: Avert course~ Throwing his hands up he gave a growl "What now? More boats? What are the chances of finding two boats in the whole of the ocean!?" he blurted out in frustration while turning to face what was coming at him. This time though, it was not what was hurtling towards him, but what he was barrelling towards. "..Oh.."
Jaime only just had enough time to veer to the side to avoid the huge dock's half sunken support post. The move throwing him close to the other sides second row post. Dodging it as well he tried to get his barrings but he was going to fast for enough thought. Zig-zagging through the wooden beams covered in barnacles that made it feel like the maw of a great beast with pearly white teeth. In the frenzied flight there was little time for thought and in a panic he tried to go up, skipping off the bottom of the doc and spinning out of control into the sandy beach to the left of where the dock met the shore.
Sitting up slowly he brushed what sand he could off the moist armour, only seeming to make things worse as he spat what grains of sand he could out of his mouth. Everything ached, and only now was he once again thankful not to be feeling the full brunt of the crash landing he had just succeeded at performing. "Are we..there yet?" he asked in a dazed and some what confused voice, waiting for the stars in his vision to clear while he sat in the sand. ~Destination achieved: Welcome Jaime Reyes to Jump City~ Jaime could swear there was some mocking in that cold robotic tone. Sure enough though, he had made it. Once glance and in the distance he could see the signature T-Tower. "Well..that was 'easy'" his voice was full of his own sarcastic flare before he flopped back and lay in the sand with the water lapping at his right hand toes and fingers. He knew he couldn't sleep here but at least he could let his body recover while the sun finally rolled its first glorious hues across the sky. ~Current time: 5:34am~ The only thing he could think to say was "Just five more minutes.."
