The educational system was clearly the most high tech and unassuming form of torture the world had ever conceived. Rose made a show of hauling her massive geometry textbook out of her bag and dropping it on the desk with a loud and obnoxious THUMP. Nobody noticed. The rest of the class was busying staring sullenly at their homework, or whispering to each other, or doing whatever else teenagers did before class actually had the nerve to start. The white haired girl fiddled with her uniform jacket, pulling her pencil out of the pocket and sticking it on the desk in front of her.
Rose opened her book, pulling her slightly crumpled homework out from inside it, and glanced over it to make sure she'd written her name and other important things. They'd be passing it up in a few minutes, and then going over more math. It was nearly lunchtime, thankfully, because nothing made it easier to get through the torture that was highschool math class than the promise of food afterwords.
She heard the warning bell ring, and turned her attention towards the front of the room. The teacher was telling them to pass up their homework from the night before, and Rose reached across the gap of desks to give it to the person in front of her. Rose Wilson was a notorious bully. It certainly explained why all of the empty desks in the room radiated around her position near the back.
The projector was flipped on with a humming noise. Even in the back she could smell the heat coming off the old machine as the teacher tried to focus the ancient thing. That was when the door opened. In those early seconds before class officially started. Hopefully, it would be a good delay. Rose leaned forward curiously to see what was going on.
