Masked eyes scanned down the list Cyborg had given him before the Boy Wonder went off on patrol that morning. His friend had asked him to stop on the way back and pick up some necessary pieces from the hardware store. Robin wasn't completely out of his element. He often would assist Cyborg in building and designing the technology they used in the tower. Now that he was confronted with what seemed like a billion different types of screws...or were these nails?
Whatever they were, Robin was feeling a bit of a fish out of water. Not that he was complaining. The thing about alien invasions was that they took up a lot of resources. Time was spent planning how to combat the invaders. More time and money was spent in preparing weapons to fight them, and space crafts to meet them in orbit where no...er, fewer civilians would be harmed. Creating such advanced weapons and vehicles required a lot of parts.
The Boy Wonder checked his list again, making sure all the necessary items were in his basket, before he made his way towards the checkout. The woman at the checkout was old, and smelled like bubblegum in an odd, old-person sort of way. Robin paid for his things and politely left. Because if you lived in Jump City, it was totally normal to see teenager's running around in-costume.
Robin had just put away the last of the supplies when a police alert sounded on his cycle. He moved to the shield at the front before putting in his helmet to get more of the details. There was a robbery at the bank. Standard stuff and the police could generally handle it but Robin was sure he could catch the bad guy and make it back before lunch. Getting on his cycle Robin turned out of his parking spot and headed for the bank.
It didn't take Robin long to get to the bank and it took him even less time to get inside. In another life he would have made an excellent thief. The Boy Wonder dropped to the floor of the bank quietly and moved forwards. He caught a glimpse of movement and ducked to the side before following it around the corner as quietly as Batman had taught him. There were three of them from what he could tell. Three men. Socks on their faces. Classic bank-robbery.
Or perhaps not. The large one was...ripping apart a safe? That wasn't normal, but then, this was Jump City. Robin noticed that one of them was staring straight at him, and the boy shifted farther into the shadows. The man was eerily thin with a beaklike nose. Robin tensed but then the man looked away sharply as though his attention had been attracted by something else. Robin quietly pulled out a birdarang and waited. As soon as that safe opened was the best time to attack: they wouldn't be as on edge as they were now or they would be once they had the money.
A sharp crack rang through the bank and one of the men made a whooping sound of triumph. Robin correctly assumed this meant the safe was open and raced into action. Without a word of warning the birdarang was out of his hand and hitting the largest of the crooks in the head. Robin didn't have a chance to see what happened though as the thin one with the beaklike nose was on him in a flash. Robin was used to fighting metahumans. These guys would be a piece of cake. Beak-nose was faster than Robin had anticipated though. Robin hit the wall behind him with a grunt of pain before quickly recovering to defend himself.
This guy was fast. Robin flipped over a leg, bouncing back to his feet quickly enough to throw a jabbing punch towards the man's spindly torso. Then there was a CRASH! and Robin could feel the floor under his feet moving. The massive man who had broke open the safe was smashing his way through walls. Robin's masked eyes widened, and he was pushed back again.
Robin hit the ground with a grunt, rolling until friction beat out his momentum. The three men had made a break for it. The Boy Wonder quickly scrambled to his feet and followed. The man who was holding the majority of the money stretched like like a strange rubber band, his arms gripping the top of a building before his bottom half snapped back up to meet them. The strong one gripped onto that one's legs, using the momentum to land safely on the rooftop. The spindly one Robin wasn't entirely sure how he got up there. One second the man was on the ground. The next second he was on a rooftop.
But that didn't matter. Stopping them did. The Teenage Thunderbolt pulled out his grappling hook, shooting at the building and flinging himself through the air. He landed with what seemed to be an effortless flip, and raced after the trio. As he ran he pulled out his communicator and hit the button on the side, signaling to the Titans that something was going down at his location.
