Starfire sits consciously in her seat with her hands cuffed in her lap, staring down at her interlocked fingers. Her eyes are wary and her brow creased in concern. They are flying from the island over the city, but the city's vibrant centre is quickly giving way to a more bleak, remote location. They are following the path that many villains they had personally handed over take; they are going to Belle Reve. It is an all in one holding for individuals like themselves; criminals who are outliers in the population. They are arguably well equipped to handle the likes of an alien superpower like Starfire, though the frequent break outs are evidence to the contrary. If they wanted to break out, they could have done so moments ago.
She wants to say something to him, but both shame and the presence of heavily armed policemen flanking her side makes it difficult. She looks up at him once and holds her tongue. He doesn't seem to be looking at her, though their sides are squished together there feels a great distance in their thoughts. Yet, a glance to the window beyond his profile reminds her that soon there will be no chance for words; they will be separated. She must at least apologize to him now, even if under less than ideal conditions.
“I am sorry... you are entangled in this. It should only be myself here,” she said, but had more to say—how she was sorry that the remainder of his time would be chained, and how she would have liked to stay with the Titans; their family, before the Citadel came and destroyed it all.
Her voice was quiet compared the the sound of the air being moved above them, but Robin tilted his head towards her when he heard her. His masked gaze met hers, and the tight line of his lips pulled into a frown at her apology. The young leader shook his head. “We're a team, Starfire,” he said, even though it was only two of them here now. “This is what teammates do.”
He bumped his knee against hers, the best he could do when they were both handcuffed, and tried to smile reassuringly. “It will be okay,” he said, even though he had no business promising things like that. Especially since it hadn't taken him long to realize where they were going. This would be quite the experience. Being locked up with a bunch of villains they had put in jail was something Robin had never considered. Maybe they would appreciate the irony.
Robin felt his stomach flop as the helicopter began to descend towards the fortress that had been built to keep Jump's more unsavory characters at bay. The landing was smooth, something the Titan leader almost didn't notice with his focus on the team of people waiting to receive them. He might have sent hundreds of people to jail in his time as Robin. Now he was going to get to see what they went through firsthand.
Her brow pinched as she looked at him with a half-heated smile; not quite assured, but appreciating that he supported her. She leaned against him, resting her head to his and closing her eyes. It was only for a short time, but soon she was going to be alone in her confinement like she had been for too much of her life. The comfort of a close friend was to be cherished for as long as she could. Then came the descent, and a rough but far weaker hand was grabbing at arm. He didn't possess 1/10th of the strength required to yank her from Robin's side so Starfire lifted her head of her own accord, and just in time because the officer flanking his side was pulling him to get up and out.
They had landed on the roof and there were even more people to recieve them; most just as armed as the officer 'pulling' her, aside from one woman. She stood staunch with a steady look in her eye, and the corner of her mouth pulled up with amusement at their expense. Starfire did not know it, but she was about to become acquainted with one very dangerous woman: Amanda Waller. They thought they were going to be taken in as the other inmates were, but there was nothing usual about their situation.
"It took you long enough to get here; you've had me waiting a good three minutes," she said to the pilot as he walked out. "I don't imagine they struggled," she said, then glanced at Robin as though she knew with certainty he would have made this decision to come peacefully.
"Sorry m'aam, for a moment we thought there might be trouble when others arrived," the pilot said, but she just seemed to scoff at his excuse.
"I don't intend to waste any more time, so I'll make this part brief," she said as she looked to them. "Your arrest is under some very specific circumstances, and you will not be processed in as usual. You will remain as inmates for a set amount of time, and the temporary nature of your stay will be kept secret; you fail to keep that secret, and we'll make sure yours aren't."
She was addressing Robin mostly while Starfire stood at attention, glancing between them and not understanding what 'specific circumstances' they found themselves in. She did not like the look in the woman's eye; they were threatening, and Starfire was imagining a scenario where she'd have to take everyone on this roof down just in case. Her green eyes narrowed and her fingers tightened in her fist.
"You will be keeping your identity. You will relinquish your belt, your uniform--everything but the mask. As for your friend... there were more unpleasant alternatives for an illegal alien like herself. I want you know that these privileges can be revoked at any point, and your actions here will have consequences for not only the two of you... but for everyone associated with you. Do you understand?"

A hand reached out to grip his bicep and pull him to his feet. Robin scowled at the armed officer, both because he despised being manhandled, and because the movement forced pressure on his wrists. He gritted his teeth, less because it hurt, and more to avoid saying something stupid. The receiving crew didn't strike Robin as terribly unusual. Most of them were armed. One of them was important. Flanked by the armed officers that were making sure he and Starfire stayed under control the Boy Wonder stood as tall as possible. It was kind of nice to have to deal with an adult that was about his height. Though, The Wall had a presence that made even the famed Boy Wonder look tiny in comparison.
He listened to what the woman had to say, his masked eyes narrowing as she explained exactly how this was going down. Well, sort of. The Boy Wonder didn't appreciate it, scowling at Waller as she made their position very clear. Robin didn't like being forced into things. Especially morally ambiguous things. It felt a little too much like the time Slade had used his friend's lives to blackmail him. There wasn't much choice, though. He had to do this. For the Titans, for Starfire, for the whole stupid planet.
“Understood,” the boy grit out in response, giving a curt nod. “Thank you for your consideration,” he understood that she didn't have to keep his identity secret here. Hell, once they took his uniform gloves they'd have enough prints to process them a million times over. Batman was going to murder him. If the invading aliens didn't manage it first. It didn't even matter that Bruce had a no-kill policy.
The guard who'd been a little handsy earlier tugged at him again, indicating that he'd wasted enough of Waller's time, and that they needed to be processed as passed off to do...whatever it was criminals did in prison. Robin moved, trying to take being sent into the lion's den in stride, but he abruptly halted and turned back towards where the important woman stood. He teetered slightly, as the guard tried to keep the momentum going, but he held firm long enough to address Waller one last time.
“Starfire isn't the alien you need to worry about. A single “illegal” alien in the least of your worries.” Robin said to the woman with his masked eyes narrowed. “But you already know that.” it wasn't a question. It was a statement. “Why are you wasting our time? What do you have to gain from this?”

Amanda Waller looked at him coldly, her expression barely budging when he turned to address her. "Do you forget the protests outside your Tower?" she reminded. "This was always coming to you, but you're right--we've had our hands full so why bother? Well... You'll find at the end of your term, you won't be the only criminals pardoned. You're part of the process of helping the public come to terms with that; the 'new' national heroes."
What she gained should have been obvious; he had thanked her for it after all. She had him wrapped around one of her little fat pinkies now, and the Titans were going to do everything she wanted, and he had yet to see how much he'd have to compromise. She'd give him a little taste. "Oh, and the people you'll be meeting in there... it's not the last you'll see of them yet," she explained cryptically, and gestured with her hand to send them away. The guards pushed harder against Robin and they were going in.
"We'll be speaking again," she said, and that was the last they'd see of her for awhile. Starfire and Robin were separated from that point, as they had to relinquish their own clothes for an unflattering set of orange.
The cell Starfire was given was small; only enough for a bed, with no windows and a transparent force-field outside the door that she could not breach. She had once swore to herself that she would never let herself be taken prisoner again, and now here she was, sitting in another cell with her hands once more encased in cuffs. When she smashed them against the wall of her cell, it was pure frustration and not an attempt to escape, but a guard came by to tell her to calm down. To make sure she did, he pulled a switch she could not see which sent shocks throughout the floor. Being the hardy alien that she was, Starfire was only stunned by them, and fell to her side groaning.
The pain was familiar. Everything about this was familiar. Temporary, this is temporary... she consoled herself, but with her former masters coming closer and closer to the planet, it would not matter if she was out there or in here; she was not truly free.
The days passed and she was kept in her cell with minimal contact. They let her out for a shower once, but then she was returned. She could only hope Robin's treatment was better, and that it'd be the next day that she'd see him. That day came after another shower, and they told her that her time in solitary was over; it was time to meet the other inmates. As it was a maximum security facility, they were only let out of their cells for food, exercise, and therapy sessions.
It was lunch time. Her cuffs were taken off and replaced with bracelets that monitored her temperature. A sudden increase and she'd be sorry for it. It meant she could actually use her hands to hold her tray. She did not like the looks and jeers of her enemies when they saw her. She did not like the look of her food either, as it was slopped onto her plate. She was used to eating things that were strange by human standards, but she had been on Earth long enough to understand when food had 'gone bad' and this... looked like bits of their fridge had travelled with them.
The cryptic messages Waller left him with did little to settle the boy as he was pulled in for processing. Going from traffic light to traffic cone was an unsettling experience. Especially since Robin's fondness of orange had gone down considerably after meeting a villain who was a little too fond of Halloween colors.
Robin was dangerous, but he wasn't powerful. Simple bars could contain him, and after the chat with Amanda Waller, it was unlikely he was going anywhere. He had one day to sleep, not that he got any, before they sent him to orientation. To call it a waste of time would have been kind. The Boy Wonder scowled as they informed him of the time schedule they were kept under, the therapy periods, and how certain infractions were handled. Fighting could land you in solitary. But then, it seemed just about anything could land you there.
He kept looking for Starfire. It was hard to avoid the other inmates, especially since he was such a recognizable figure in the prison. So far, though, he'd only been in one fight. He hadn't even started it. When he was released from solitary the second time Robin had almost given up on seeing Starfire while they were both incarcerated together.
And then he saw her.
She was sitting at one of the lunch tables. The Boy Wonder considered dropping out of the line, but waited until he was given his...well, they called it “food” before he could make his way over towards her. “Starfire,” the boy said her name, his voice thick with relief. “Are you alright?” the Boy Wonder asked quietly as sat down across from her, dropping his tray on the table with a clatter.

The roleplay takes place after the series end of the original Teen Titans animated show, but does not include the movie Trouble in Tokyo. Since then Robin has been on something of a recruiting spree, and many new young heroes have found themselves a home in Jump City as well as Titan Tower.
