Barbara frequently received calls from Gotham. Usually, these were from her father, checking to see how school was going. He still didn't know about her double life, or that instead of going to classes on campus in Jump, she was taking strictly online classes, but actually keeping up with them considering all of the time she spent fighting crime with the Titans. She didn't expect that this time, she would be getting a call from Bruce. Apparently, he was going to be with the Justice League on a super-secret mission, and needed someone to keep up watch over the perpetually dark and gloomy city while he would be away. All business, no "Hi, how are you Babs?" or "How's my adopted son doing?" at all. But that was Bruce. Packing up her things and donning her old all-black suit, Batgirl got to work on home territory.
It was worse than ever now, and her father didn't even know she was back in Gotham. With all of the hooplah about doomsday approaching, people got rowdy. While GCPD was dealing with looters and riots, Batgirl was doing all she could to keep the bigger problems at bay. The League had been gone for a long time now, and she had heard about an attack back in Jump City. Across the country, all Batgirl could do was watch the news on one screen, while watching cell phone videos and multiple security feeds on others in the Batcave. Alfred knew she was getting restless, and tried to console her with tea and talk. The last straw finally came with a message on her Titans Communicator. Robin and Starfire had been arrested. This was the last straw. Her father and his men had to handle Gotham, because her friends were in danger. Batman could not expect her to drop her whole life to take up his while he gets himself killed, kidnapped, or whatever had happened. Nothing in the Batcave could locate the League, and the government had tried all they could. She had to go where she could actually make a difference, and she had to go help her friends in their time of need. After months away, Batgirl was going home.
Her old dark look once again swapped out for purple and leather, Batgirl readjusted her cowl again as she walked down the hall and into the common room. She was mad at herself for not being here during the attack, and when her friends were taken into custody. Her father had no news of what was happening with them, and tried to pull all of the strings he could, but nobody was budging. It was all top-secret. Smelled like government rather than the city police department. She only hoped that Robin and Starfire were doing okay, that they would be able to talk some sense into somebody about this whole ordeal. As the doors opened to the common room, she went straight to the fridge, not bothering to look around to see if anyone was already in here. She was hungry, and she was on a mission. Well, her first mission, anyways. Food!
