Characters:Open Setting:Night, sandy beach across from Titans Tower Previous Threads:None (First thread in her timeline!) Plot Summary:Sarah, currently devoid of friendship (well... human friendship anyway) Sits alone on a beach, contemplating her choice to flee her family-as well as the thought of other metahumans residing in the tower overshadowing her.
Sarah sat by the water's edge, staring at the tower before her. Supposedly it was the home of a bunch of heroes and heroines. At least, thats what she was told. Sarah honestly didn't honestly completely buy into it. She hadn't seen any since coming here anyway. Her main concern, at the reason she was here was that she was told dome of these heroes had powers they could do.... inhuman things. The thought that their were others.... people even remotely similar to her.... it was what attracted her to this place, and yet nothing. She was stupid to have come here, the others would be able to spot her a mile a way, and then she'd be back home... no this was all a foolish endeavor. She was alone now. She had left the only ones that could ever understand her behind... because SHE wanted to understand.
But she was an idiot, they were no doubt hunting after her while she sat here in the stand hoping for her imaginative little dream to true. She was a fool... and yet still she sat, and still she hoped. She took from her small looted bag a single potato and bit into it, savoring the food in her mouth before swallowing. The food would probably lead them to her to, but she had to eat somehow... the shopkeeper wasn't hurt, at least.
Here Sat Sarah Nicole Vyers, foolish dreamer-foolish believer.

After a long, hard day of doing absolutely nothing at school (with 'Picture Day' having taken up a huge chunk of the curriculum due to a wardrobe malfunction and an 'incident'), Remy LaMarr III was absolutely exhausted, mentally. The last few months had been particularly stressful due to his mother and father getting into a petty fight that, yes, has thus far survived the test of time, and his oldest sister moving out in the midst of it... And getting him to carry her stuff for her as she moved and set up in her new apartment. That wasn't even including his own part-time cashier job at The Art Truck, or the test he'd been studying for in Biology class for what seemed like years. Yeah, Remy had a lot on his plate, which wasn't really unusual for him-- He almost seemed to attract stress.
Granted, today he wasn't scheduled to work (which, knowing retail, could change at a moment's notice), and he didn't have any homework, so it wasn't like he had to rush home to hop into the middle of the warzone that was his two arguing parents. He and Allele, who attended the same school, agreed to wait until sometime around sunset before heading home, as even angry parents eventually had to rest and drink nighttime coffee and sleep, or whatever adults did. She went on to hang out with her friends, while Remy decided to go and spend a little time at his favorite spot; The lake overlooking Titan Tower.
He just loved to sit and watch the light show; Every so often, he'd catch a glimpse of Starfire, one of the original Titans (whom he arguably had a thing for, but then again, who didn't), flying in or out of the tower, or catch Raven traversing the fields, taking time to herself. It was a spot that he assumed not too many people either knew about, or cared about, until today; After all, today would be the first time he'd catch anyone else actually out here.
She seemed... his age-ish, which was a start. "Hi there-- uh..." As he recklessly approached a completely random girl he'd never seen before, Remy realized how stupid that in and of itself was. She could have been a gun-toting psychopath. But then again, she could have also been a cupcake-toting psychopath, so it was a 50-50 thing... and half was better than nothing! Or, something like that. "You, uh, you new to Jump? I usually take a head-count of all the reds in town. Get it? Head count? Reds? Red-heads?" Without really thinking it through Remy went ahead and popped a squat next to this possible new friend of his, digging in his pocket and pulling out a candy bar. Dreadful for the teeth, but he was young; teeth grew back, right? Right? Eh, probably.
"Want half? I usually don't finish these things. I'm not really a chocolate person."
It was funny how easy it was to startle someone. More so when they were deep in thought! Sarah quickly (but rather clumsily) pushed herself to side, holding out a hand at WHATEVER it was that had spoken, In preparation to defend herself. It was of course her fear of her own kin that caused this reaction-It was no fault of the man who sat down beside her. Once she looked past her shaking arm she became aware of two things, one? He was not trying to capture or attack her. Two? He was offering her chocolate.
If Sarah had to admit to a weakness, she would have to stay it was sweets. Though she rarely had the chance to eat them the sugary delights still never failed to bring her joy when she did. So naturally such things made an amazing bargaining tool.
"I... t..thank you"
She, a bit greedily took HER half from his hand. Breifly she inspected the treat for anything dangerous-though not being paintent enough to go to deep she instead found herself nibbling at the choclaty delight before long. Sure she found a random boy offering sweets odd. Who woudn't? But the chocolate wasn't hurting her... maybe he had more he could bring back to share with Irka!
She took a moment to take in his earlier words. Why did he count red heads? Did he like the color? She decided to ignore the comment near its end though. Probaly not the smartest idea to admit you were 'new' so instead she repeated herself, but more cleanly, clearly the chatterbox this one.
"Thank you"

Remy grinned at how quick this girl was to take a bit of of the chocolate. She was pretty serious about it, which was cool, because honestly, how could anyone take a person who wasn't serious about their candy seriously? He kinda felt like they had some common ground now, considering she hadn't up and taken off after grabbing the candy. "Don't mention it! I've got tons of candy that I never end up eating; At least someone'll eat it."
The red-headed boy sighed and continued watching the tower from afar. He was pretty content to have a little bit of company, even though she was a little shy. Or scared. Same difference. "Y'know, sometimes I have to remind myself that they're just humans, like us." He noted, kicking his shoes off to get a bit more comfortable. "Er, well. Not Cyborg, he's a robot. And I guess Beast Boy is probably an animal hybrid thing. And Starfire's an alien. And... honestly, Raven's just weird. But Robin's their leader, and for all the crap he does, he's just human. Pretty cool, when you think about it."
Remy took a small bite of his bit of the candy bar before continuing. "Y'know, I caught Beast Boy and Cyborg hanging out at the pizza place downtown once; I didn't really know what to say, or, well, do, so I just kinda hid out of the way until they were gone. Imagine that; Me, speechless?" He joked, trying to get a reaction out of his new friend. Thus far, she was the exact opposite of a good comedy audience.
Sarah was not a talker. Even among her own family she was known for her silence with all but her little sister. One could say she was a girl of few words, if she bothered to say any at all. It was why this conversation made her uncomfortable. This man was not her dear sister Melody, he was a stranger walking along the beach offering people sugary delights. If it wasn't for the fact He happened to have her favorite out of those sugary treats? She probably would have threw down a burst and ran while the smoke cleared. Why did this man bother taking interest in someone he just met on these sands? It wasn't logical... though mom DID say that was a strong norm outside their family so she supposed it was probably normal for them? She wasn't overly sure. He... even offered her more of the treat she loved... It was just... confusing. Still The thought of it brought a brief smile to her face none the less.
He began to speak of the residents of the tower, comparing both them and the two of them, calling them 'just' human. Sarah coudn't let such a lie hold. She was different. Sure he and the tower residents might be normal but her?
"W..wait I'm not...."
She was cut off by the man, though he probably just didn't hear her low tone. He seemed t contradict the statement he made-describing all but one of the supposed members as far from the point of being all together human. He even claimed to have seen them before! That fact alone did excite the young redhead if they were real... maybe their was someone she could relate to, someone... who could answer her questions. Of course that was assuming SHE could find them. For now though? She supposed she owed her talkative mate a reaction.
"I have.... never seen them before myself I... was having my doubts as to how authentic they were..."
The boy removed his shoes, but Sarah was fine sitting there in her boots. Knees held close to her body by her own two arms. The only question on her mind? Whether or not she could trust the word of a stranger.

Remy laughed, completely confused by... well, insert name here's reaction to his silly monologue. That was certainly rare, meeting someone who didn't know the Titans. "You're really not from around here, are you?" He asked, not entirely sure of how to continue from there. It was one thing to not know much about the Titans, but this girl seemed to know so little that she didn't honestly even believe they were real. Maybe she was from Texas? From what Remy heard, they tended to not know much of ANYTHING going on in the world down there.
"Er, well, anyway, yeah, they're pretty 'authentic'. They do the crime-fighting thing in this city. I gotta admit, I'm a little surprised you've never actually seen one of 'em running around, they tend to turn up literally everywhere." Tapping his chin, Remy was reminded of one such time in which such a thing happened; A time which he naturally intended to regale his friend with.
"Once, I was heading downtown to Gold's Gym, and I almost got mixed up in a bit of a scuffle with some bad guy-- Big, hairy dude, like twice my size and 3 or 4 times my weight. Raven, of all people, happened to be floating about-- Literally floating, I don't know if I've ever seen her walk-- and stopped him. So, yeah, just kinda stick around for a while. You'll run into one, no doubt."
She was making herself look foolish. Were they really that common? If so why hadn't she met one yet? That was... odd. Perhaps she was simply having a bad case of wrong place wrong time. If the boy's words were to be believed they did in fact posses abilities.
Even... Melody(or Brie... whichever one she was going by at the moment) Her brother and sister. They were the only people She had ever know with 'gifts' bestowed upon them by their mother and father. If it was true how had they gotten their gifts? Was it their choice, or was it forced upon them? How did that power.... reflect who they were?
Maybe she was overthinking this. Even if it was true their was no guarantee that they would understand her. Even less of a chance they could or even wanted to help her. To Sarah her mother and father had quite a literal hold over her and her siblings. They ruled the trio. Could one of them answer her? What was love really? She understood the concept, as well as the varying interpretations. On the other hand... Did mother and father feel that way for her? She longed for these answers. Because until she got them she coudn't bring herself to return home.
In reresponse to the boy who at this point must have thought she was ignoring him she offered a half smile. He was yet another variable she failed to understand. Why did he speak to her? She supposed their was a wide range of reasons, both ethical and otherwise and yet... She supposed she could also simply be intruding on the man's spot on thesecond sands.
"Maybe... so then, why do come here? Sightseeing?"
Ok so clearly she was an antisocial butterfly.
"Mana"
It She pointed to herself as she made the statmet. It never hurt to take precautions, even with one's own name.

Remy scratched the back of his head slightly, a bit embarrassed by the question of why he was out here in the first place. It wasn't really an answer he had in his back pocket, despite his not having a terrible amount to hide on the subject. "Uh, well... I was figuring I might try out, honestly." His eyes darted to the ground as he thought up a believable reason as to why that would every be a good idea for someone like him, and didn't really pull up any good excuses. Well, believable excuses, anyway. With the exception of that freak accident where he stopped a car with his bare hands, he didn't really ever display any real aptitude for amazing-ness. I mean, sure, he was pretty darn amazing by default, but not Starfire or Raven-levels of amazing. Which were pretty darn high standards.
"I mean, how hard can being a superhero who constantly saves the world from the forces of evil, protects the innocent in times of crisis and risks life and limb for the fate of the universe be, right? So... yeah, I guess I figured, whenever I worked the courage up, I'd walk right on over-- well, swim-- and say, 'Hey you Titans, I'm gunna become one of you and there's not a terrible amount you can do to stop me! Unless you say no! In which case, I'll be back the next day, because I don't take rejection well!'. Probably not word for word, that, but... well, you get the idea." He finished with a bit of a fumble. Hearing it out loud (because let's be honest, he was going to go right over and say just that, word for word) made it sound a lot less heroic and sympathetic. He probably needed to work on the delivery a bit... and actually decide on if going to the Titans about his incident was even a good idea.
There was a bit of silence that fell between the two, before the girl spoke up; 'Mana', while pointing at herself. Unless she was a video game fantasy buff, Remy was pretty sure she just introduced herself. "Remy," He responded in kind, gesturing to himself as well. She didn't seem to talk much; In his experience, that usually meant that she probably wasn't a fan of listening to him blather all day either.
He wanted... to audition? Was that how this sort of thing worked? You just run up to the abnormal hero types and ask if you can join them? Why WERE their abnormal heros? Were they just accepted in the city? Their were just so many things she didnt understand yet, so many things she wanted to learn.
His reasoning reminded her of her sister and made her wonder if Remy was as brash as the younger sibling... nah probably not. Chances were he was just eager to join the team. It was certainly a reasonable reason to sit at a beach and stare at the tower the younger male introduced himself after her and their was quite the silence between the pair. It wasn't that Mana disliked hearing him or anything, she just didn't generally like talking much-specially not to people she's only recently met. That... was probably pretty rude now that she not of but she really couldn't help it all that much. She could offer a smile, at that is what she did to the younger male. It was pretty silly but Sarah couldn't really help how she was.
"So... you wish to join them? To... help people?"
It seemed a noble goal to the young teen. Quite brave actually to put himself in harms way like that. Sarah didn't lime hurting others though, and she wasn't sure she could... even if they were 'bad'. Did that make her a flawed weapon? She... PROBALY shouldn't be so interested in that line of thinking. Instead she brought her focus back upon the male. She studied him. Sarah never had the oppurtunity to actively talk to people outside her family before. She was seen not heard, sometimes not seen ether. The only person she HAD talked to since her runaway had been Irka. Remy was the second and... she had to admit he was a pretty interesting case to, though that MAY just be because of the familiar additude.
"I... suppose I should tell my purpose... I simply want to uh... well... I want to understand things, thats a pretty weak dream I know..."
It wasn't the whole truth. Did he need to know the whole truth? For all she knew the truth was embarrassing so.. she just kept it to herself, it was better that way right?

The roleplay takes place after the series end of the original Teen Titans animated show, but does not include the movie Trouble in Tokyo. Since then Robin has been on something of a recruiting spree, and many new young heroes have found themselves a home in Jump City as well as Titan Tower.
