Characters: Robin(Silv) & Drossel(Empathy) Setting: Downtown at a shop that is being robbed. Previous Threads: Follows Music Box and Singing Androids Plot Summary: While he's sick with a cold Robin goes out to fight crime anyway and gets some help from a regal robot.
A man dressed suspiciously like a ninja reached out carefully to pick up the piece of pottery in front of him with almost a sort of reverence. There was no one else in the shop. It was after hours, and the open sign pressed inward against the window made it abundantly clear to anyone passing outside that the store was closed for business. The fact that the lights were out in the store also helped with that, but the thieving ninja had no problem seeing well enough to decide what he wanted with his five finger discount.
"Didn't anyone ever tell you stealing isn't nice?" the gruff voice and dark silhouette behind the man easily morphed into the shape of a young teenager in bright colors. Probably the only good thing about being sick was that his voice sounded deeper. Almost raw. More like Bruce's.
Having the sniffles, however, probably didn't make him sound terribly adult. Catch 22. Robin ran the wrist of his gloved right hand under his nose, scowling slightly, as he suppressed a cough by hunching his bony shoulders and shuddering with effort. Crime never stopped: Day, night. Sick, well. None of that mattered when there were people that needed his help. Of course his team didn't see it that way. Which was why he'd been so squirrely to avoid them as soon as the pain in the back of his throat told him he'd caught whatever Beast Boy'd been giving. He had no interest in rest, or Starfire's remedies, even if the attention might have been kind of wonderful.
The ninja didn't respond, as ninjas were apt to do, and instead shoved the vase into a bag as he turned to face the famous Boy Wonder. Robin smirked as he dropped into a fighting stance to mirror the other man's and charged..
Robin leaped up, bouncing over the walking staff that had been stolen from a nearby stand of the intricately carved things. He pulled out his own bostaff as he flipped over the man, landing in silhouette behind an intricately painted paper screen. The two figures fought, a flurry of attacks and parries, as Robin was quickly realizing that he wasn't getting as many hits in as he normally did.
Something hit him hard in the chest and sent him crashing backwards. He flew through the storefront window, landing in a cascade of glittering glass squares, as he skidded across the hard pavement. Groaning, a sound that he found burned his seared throat, the Boy Wonder rolled back to his feet. Robin ignored the aching - some brought on by the fever, some by the blow-, he'd dealt with pain before, and got back to his feet to face the ninja again. His opponent had followed him out of the store and seemed to be ready for round two.
The ninja stood outside the shop door. Despite the lack of any facial features through the black mask, there was a definite smugness in the villain's attitude. He observed Robin get back up, perhaps enjoying the young hero groan. As the boy wonder got back into a fighting stance, the ninja took out two shuriken stars. They gleamed in the reflected street light.
That's when a white figure dropped from the roof, landing with heavy thud into the pavement. There was a swirl of a red cape, separating the two fighters by occluding their direct line of sight. The metallic figure faced the hurt human. Eyes cycled through a range of colors rapidly before a thought emerged in the subject's mind.
@{Teen Titan Robin} You are hurt , sick and contagious.
Inside Drössel's mind, algorithms were running through countless simulations to answer one question: to entropically heal Robin, or not?
@{Medical subject Robin} I can remove your injuries, but that will accelerate your infection.
The virus spreading in his body was not very dangerous. Not unless he did something foolish. But none of his injuries were immediately threatening either. The unknown was the relationship between the two fighters. Before Drössel could continue the conversation however, the thief moved. He shuffled behind, jumping to the robot's left to get a clear shot. The two earlier shurikens flew past her, aimed squarely at Robin's chest.
As soon as Drössel saw the projectiles fly past, she lifted her right arm. The anti-collision gun sprang out of it, and quickly shot a white sphere at the Titan.
@{Human in danger Robin} Please dodge.
Drössel's small sphere hit first, almost instantly inflating into a thick, rubbery substance upon contact. The two shurikens impacted shortly after. One dug itself into the protective sphere. The other one bounced off, potentially hitting something. Drössel rushed towards Robin. The gun was retracted, and her hands glowed with entropical energy. She paid no attention to the other human.
Like something from an old-style wild west shootout the boy in the ridiculous superhero costume faced off against the man in the ninja costume. In Robin's hands were a pair of birdarangs. He waited, patient enough to give the man first shot, when they were suddenly interrupted. A robot dropping down to rescue him was probably the last thing Robin had been expecting. The Boy Wonder's masked eyes widened in surprise at the sudden arrival, before narrowing suspiciously at the intrusion of a thought in his mind. "I'm fine," he grumbled, his spikes bristling. He didn't like to be told he couldn't do something, and all three of the items that Drossel had listed were classic excuses to have Robin cooped up inside when he could be fighting crime. And, for a moment, he kind of did hope he was contagious with some sort of life-threatening disease. It would serve the thieving ninja right.
But as interrupted as their fight was, it wasn't over. The ninja went around the robot, intent on making sure Robin learned his lesson, and the Boy Wonder didn't have time to react to the shurikens. He was being shot at. The sudden interrupting thought, and the robot's sharp movement distracted Robin from reacting with the instinctive fighting skill that had been beaten into him.
The Boy Wonder went down, bowled over by the sphere that had been shot at him, and skidding backwards on the concrete. Again. He got to his feet sluggishly, clearly disoriented, and shot Drossel a glare as he reached into his belt. Another shuriken swooshed past biting into the flesh of his arm and cutting the sleeve of his uniform before embedding itself into a mailbox behind him. Robin retaliated with a freeze disc aimed at the ninja's feet.
The robot dismissed Robin's response. Most of her patients claimed to be fine. My sensors say otherwise. She didn't have time to send a telepathic answer however before the shurikens flew past. An airbag shot later and the Boy Wonder was in an even worse state, rolling in the middle of the street. There was a pang of pain coming from within robot's primary core.
The medic rushed to Robin's side as fast as she could. Another shuriken shrieked through the air. It left a nasty cut along the teen's arm before disappearing into the night. The white figure pressed her glowing hands against the wounded arm. A black disk flew past her, in the opposite direction this time. Drössel sent an alarmed message:
@{Teen Titan Robin} I am healing you! You will feel an adrenaline rush. Please refrain from dangerous movements.
The robot looked at the young hero's face. Her eyes were cycling through a range of colors. In the background, she was saving a host of medical information on her patient. Blood pressure, hormonal levels, antibodies and DNA were all stored for future retrieval.
@{Medical Subject Robin} Please be careful. The adrenaline rush will make you feel better, even though your infection is accelerating. I recommend rest and a hot broth.
She registered a freezing sound behind her. Drössel was still entropically accelerating Robin. All his injuries were now completely healed up, although his infection would soon reach its peak. Thankfully, it was not a dangerous virus. He was simply hyper-contagious at this point. Robin would probably collapse from exhaustion as soon as the adrenaline ran out in a couple of minutes.
With the primary emergency dealt with, the robot turned around to the second human on the scene. The person clad in black was trying to break out from a block of ice trapping his left foot. Her foot. X-ray confirmed that behind the strange outfit, the masked person was a female, roughly of Robin's age. She seemed in reasonable health, although with signs of stress and a few scrapes on her lower body.
@{Elusive Female Villain} Please refrain from further movements. I will come to collect you and heal your injuries. Also please avoid contact with Titan Robin. He is infec...
The message was greeted with a smoke bomb, thrown right at Drössel's face. As the billowing black cloud engulfed the white robot, her message was interrupted. The royal medic found herself unable to see or 'speak'.

Robin's masked eyes widened at the sudden intrusion of his personal space by the robot with glowing hands. The teenager flinched backwards. He'd learned pretty quickly that glowing things were generally bad news. Starfire had those starbolts, Raven's was cold and engulfing, Terra liked to hit people over the head with rocks, and Jinx well...bad luck was bad luck. But the robot reassured him that he was being healed.
If this was what being healed felt like, it was kind of awesome.
The Boy Wonder perked up at the sudden rush of adrenaline that flooded his system. He ignored the robot's warning, because he felt great, and was never very good at listening to instructions anyway. Even the aching from his fever was gone. He was ready to kick badguy butt again! His freeze disc had hit the ninja, trapping his (her, silly Robin) foot, and the teen smirked in victory as he moved around Drossel to take the ninja into custody.
That was, roughly, when the smoke bomb went off. Robin threw his cape up over his his mouth to keep the smoke from burning his lungs. It worked alright. Not as efficient as that rebreather on his belt he didn't have time to grab. He could hear the shatter of the ice, and took off running out of the cloud of darkness after the ninja.
Drössel's eyes shifted to X-ray. Her white, electronic eyes narrowed as she spotted a small, male skeleton. He was running after a more elongated, female one. The robot tried to send a message, but couldn't. She stepped outside the smoke cloud. The two skeletons moved away from the medic. How frustrating... Drössel's eyes switched back to blue as she sent:
@{Robin} Please sto..
Communication was again interrupted as the Boy Wonder climbed onto the roof and out of sight. The robot shook her head. Lifting her hands in the air, she let go of an internal sigh of exasperation. Then, her primary core kicking in, Drössel chased after the two humans in her care. With a quick burst of energy, the robot ran up part of the wall before jumping and grabbing the edge of the roof. Drössel lifted herself up. Two shapes were running in the distance, jumping from roof to roof. Robin does not have much time. He was her top priority. The only source of danger to the young woman was the Titan. Drössel was more worried about Robin however. As her eyes locked down on the male shape, she said:
@{Robin} Please slow down. Your adrenaline spike will not last much longer!
Different bodies reacted slightly differently. The medic couldn't predict how long the after-effects of her entropic acceleration would linger. But she knew the Boy Wonder would not be jumping around as wildly when his body eventually let him down.
@{Robin} Your body is crying for rest. Please listen!
The robot was catching up to the two humans. At some point, the ninja turned around again. She threw another salve of shurikens at the Titan. The villain then silently jumped down into an alley. Sensing that he would quickly follow the ninja out of her vision, Drössel pinged a quick note.
@{Robin} I am right behind you.
It was meant as a reassurance. She hoped it didn't push the reckless teen to take even more risks with his body.
When the ninja scampered up to the rooftops Robin followed suit. The robot's protests were left far behind the Boy Wonder as he took out his grappling gun and shot it up. He followed the line, releasing it at the last moment to arc acrobatically onto the rooftop with perfect form, before racing after the ninja again at a run. Across the rooftops the pair went mostly ignoring the robot nanny trying to get them to stop.
Robin shook his head as if trying to dislodge the voice in his head before jumping the gap between two rooftops. He landed poorly, rolling onto his shoulder instinctively to keep from harming himself, and lost a few precious seconds as he scrambled back onto unsteady feet. More shurikens came his way. Robin dropped, letting one soar over his head while the other bit into his shoulder and rolled back from his cape. He didn't have much time to hiss in pain, since she was getting away.
He dropped into the alleyway after the ninja, trying to ignore the way his head was spinning as he pulled a bola from his belt and tried to ascertain the distance. Had it been this warm before? The Boy Wonder's face flushed behind his mask as he stubbornly ignored his need to sit down before he passed out. He kept after the ninja and threw the bola before falling into something of a stagger. He straightened, his green gloved hand going for the communicator on his belt, and his finger skimming the button before he lost consciousness and collapsed to the hard ground.

There had been a coinciding car chase involving a meta around the time the Titans got the call for ninjas. Cyborg had taken that one, being the official owner of the magnificent T-car just ripe for racing. It had been exciting while it lasted, but it was over really quickly. That was more time for perfecting his gamer score! After he gave his baby (yes, the car) a nice buff.
Then the sort of alert came that had his heart jumping uncomfortably in his chest. He recognized the Titan distress alert from the very sound, and his expression was all business as he punched in a button on his dash to answer. It was Robin's communicator. "Robin, do you copy?" he asked as he held the button down, coming to a stop on the side of the road as he did. There was no response. Cyborg pressed another button to triangulate the signal. The moment the GPS kicked in he slammed on the breaks and did a 360 on the road, leaving some impressive skid marks as he took off.
When he arrived at the location it hadn't been long, and he was quick to get out of his car as he parked. He used his own communicator to navigate between buildings until he saw the familiar yellow cape draped over a body on the floor. Cyborg dashed into a sprint and then knelt down next to his friend. "Robin," he said, but didn't count on a response. He rolled him as gently as he could to the side to inspect for any head or neck injuries before he'd even risk lifting him to the car.
Drössel kept running behind the two nimble humans. The little robot was a hundred feet behind the pair before they jumped into the alley. The robot had to make a leap herself to get to the next building. Not used to these acrobatics, the robot overshot, skidding off the narrow roof. With a prompt grip, Drössel grabbed the edge of the roof. She then turned her head around to face the hard pavement. No one below. With no regards for the poor street workers would have to fix the mess, she dropped down, landing with a heavy, ground-cracking thump. The robot then took a moment to reorient herself. Inside her mind, Drössel's primary core was frantically looking for a map of the surrounding streets. Left. Then straight then left. That's where the two humans had dropped down. But were they still there? Was Robin still in any shape to move?
The robot started sprinting again. She made the left turn, using a nearby lamp post to catapult herself through the dangerous curve. As the eighty feet stretch came to an end, a car zoomed right in front of her. Drössel just paused for a moment, her head turning to try and glimpse the driver, before turning left to zoom off in the same direction. "Help?" It didn't seem like an ambulance. Not that it mattered, she was the best ambulance you could have.
Eyes cycled through the colorwheel as the medic approached two human figures. One she recognized with a pang of guilt.
@{Robin} Your vitals are bad. Can you respond?
Drössel didn't immediately recognize the second humanoid. It wasn't the ninja. He was big, with clear signs of assimilation with some machine entity. Human? She would figure that out quickly enough. The priority was Robin. The robot-man was kneeling, hiding Drössel's patient from view.
@{Human? robot} MEDIC INCOMING FROM THE LEFT. PLEASE VACATE.
Uncertain about the man's weight and his position with respect to the patient, Drössel found it safer to slide to his left. The robot landed in a half-crouch, eyes quickly flickering between the hurt Robin and a person she finally identified as Titan Cyborg. Threat level decreased. He was unlikely to hurt his leader except by accident. Looking down again, Drössel slowly cycled through her eye colors this time. She remained silent during the whole procedure, evaluating Robin's health, her medical response... and what she was going to say to his team mate. Privacy level: moderate. Team mate may be entitle to minimum information.
Stepping forward, Drössel's fingers began to emit light. This time, the glow was fainter, but there was a strange lack of vibration in the air. A sphere of reduced entropic action started forming around her hands. Eyes now returning to normal, the robot quickly looked up to Cyborg to send the message:
@{Human? Cyborg} I shall put him in stasis. Robin needs to be escorted to his bed.
The adrenaline had run its course. There were some new injuries. Based on his past reaction though, Drössel opted against an entropy boost. Much safer to freeze the teen's body until he was in a safe environment to rest. He was likely to sleep a good fifteen hours straight.
@{Human? Cyborg} Or do you need instructions from him? I can temporarily awaken him.
If she adrenaline rushed him a couple of seconds longer, Robin would stay calmly in bed that much longer!

The sound of a voice coming from inside his own head of a medic coming in sounded like wishful hallucination, and it startled him, but then a robot zoomed around him to join Robin's other side. Cyborg's sole organic eye widened. "You got some telepathy?" Cy ventured a guess, and while he was fascinated by what his senses both visual and 'auditory' were experiencing, his concern for Robin didn't let him linger on the fascination. That concern was not alleviated when the robot suggested stasis. "Woah, hold up!" he said, extending a hand out in a gesture for her to stop whatever her glowing hands were gunna do. "I don't know you, and I'm not about to let you put him into stasis unless his life is in danger."
Since he hadn't seen any head or neck injuries, Cyborg began to lift his much smaller friend up like the lightweight he was. Once securely in his arms, Cy began getting to his feet. "I'm going to take him back to the Tower. We've got a medical bay there. If you really are a medic, then you can come with me, but I want to know what we're dealing with before I let you do any procedures I'm not certain about."
Drössel nodded when Cyborg mentioned her telepathy. She moved forward with eager anti-entropic hands. But those met the halting gesture from the larger robotic figure. Her eyes frowned and she tilted her head in surprise at the surprise gesture. The words that followed hurt the little robot in her core. Slowly, the robot wrapped her arm around the obstacle, trying to touch the organic part of his arm. Her hands were not glowing anymore.
@{Human? Cyborg} Please. My name is Drössel von Flügel. I am a medical Robot. I heal humans.
Her hands rested softly against the titan, then rolled back down. Inside her mind, DNA strands were decoded, parsed and saved. The robot princess confirmed that Cyborg was indeed human. This ruled out a more aggressive approach to Robin's protection.
@{Human Cyborg} Please seat him in the back. I will take him in my charge while you drive at a reasonable speed.
And with royal sass, the robot pointed towards the car. She then stepped ahead, opening the door for Cyborg.
@{Human Cyborg} Patient Robin mostly need rest. We can heal up any lingering wounds once we arrive. But then he will have to sleep.
The robot blinked for a moment.
@{Human Cyborg} And I may need to find a way to rest and charge up as well.

Cyborg glanced at the hand that he suspected was deliberately touching the exposed skin of his arm, because there was so little of it compared to the rest to be mere coincidence. His brow furrowed slightly, but since he was holding sleeping beauty all bridal style as it was he didn't feel it warranted any further reaction. "Sorry, Dross," Cyborg said as he approached the T-car. With a simple voice command three of the four doors unlocked and opened. One was the passenger seat, which he was putting Robin in against her suggestion--hence, the apology.
Once Robin was buckled in, he straightened and closed the door. "I'm sure you're just trying to help, but I'm not comfortable with any unsupervised medical procedures yet," he explained. "If you can just hold on until we get him to the tower, I'll let you work and we'll figure something out for getting you recharged."
He gestured to the open back seat. "If that sounds good, you can get in."
Cyborg went around and got in himself. He glanced over to Robin, just to make sure that he wasn't suddenly going to die on him or something dramatic like that.
ooc: If you want we can skip to getting to the Tower in your post. They'd just drive into the tunnel and emerge into the garage, or we can skip even further by getting to the medical room.

Drössel remained silent as the Titan refused her help. Her head dropped in disappointment as her core sent a small pang of pain. Cyborg placed Robin in the passenger seat. The door closed, tinted glass preventing Drössel from communicating with her patient. The small robot made a small, near-instantaneous turn as Cyborg spoke again.
@{Human Cyborg} Of... course.
Her primary kicked in, paradoxically providing both resolve and a depressing feeling of failure. The robot moved swiftly. Her head was still down. She did not send another message to Cyborg, instead focusing on moving into the car. Sitting right behind Robin, the robot monitored his vitals through her multiple lenses.
The car ride was rather uneventful. Drössel, in an attempt to save up some of her remaining energy, remained mostly inert. Once at the tower, the robot woke from her stupor. She jumped out of the car, waiting in front of the passenger door. She was ready to carry the diminutive titan, but suspected Cyborg would not allow her. While Robin's health was not ideal, it did not warrant a potential conflict with the other human.
@{Human Cyborg} Where is the medical bay? I can carry him.
The little robot flexed her mechanical muscles to accentuate her point. Then she looked around in the garage, scanners trying to pick up the presence of any other life forms.

Cyborg almost felt bad when the medical robot seemed so deflated over not being allowed to help, but safety was first. They'd fix that once they got to the tower. The garage was part of what made up the T-shaped building, so when she came out and asked to help in such a cute way he decided it was worth allowing. He grinned in good humour, and handed their charge over to those 'big strong arms' of hers. "There's an elevator just ahead," he said and motioned for her to go first.
Once they reached the elevator, Cyborg pressed the communicator to a panel which brought up digital numbers, as well as labels to what special rooms were located at each. Some of those rooms wouldn't have been revealed/allowed access to without his communicator. He pressed the digital panel and it both highlighted and provided a tactile response much in the way touchscreens did. The elevator was moving, and the numbers were climbing up one by one.
They stood side by side, with Cyborg being much taller as usual which meant he was looking down at the two of them as he spoke. "So, mind telling me about yourself?" he asked, out of curiosity and for the sake of conversation. He may as well learn something about her if they were going to work together to help his friend.

The roleplay takes place after the series end of the original Teen Titans animated show, but does not include the movie Trouble in Tokyo. Since then Robin has been on something of a recruiting spree, and many new young heroes have found themselves a home in Jump City as well as Titan Tower.
