Characters: Cherufe (Rig) & Blackfire (Nyx) Setting: Rave Night at a club on the shadier side of town. Previous Threads: N/A Plot Summary: Cherufe is forced to go to a club with some classmates. As he ditches them, he meets someone who catches his attention.
It was the last place the villain known as Cherufe wanted to be, but he agreed to go. The academy’s fight club encouraged gatherings among its members. He had refused to go to the other outings and found them to be quite dull. Though, his classmates decided to do something a little out of the box for a school sponsored “gathering”. This whole outing smelled like it was a trap just to get him out of his shell. He looked around the dance floor as the lights slightly blinded him. Even for an arsonist who liked the bright blaze of fire, the lights were too bright.
“Hey Nicodemus I’m glad you could make it. Every one, let’s head to the dance floor! Let’s dance!!!” a teenage girl with blonde hair and emerald eyes yelled over the loud music.
“I told you that Nico is just fine,” he responded back grumpily as the girl pulled on his leather jacket to get on the dance floor. He tried not to use his actual name in public, outside of school, but it was kind of difficult with people he knew around. The floor was a too lively for his taste. There were many different varieties of individuals here dancing. People he wouldn’t even imagine would have been caught dead here. He felt like it overstayed his welcome. It was time to move to a place a little less lively.
The blonde who danced in front of him seemed to be completely lost in the music. She began dancing pretty so hard that her hair blocked her sight from flowing back and forth. There it was...an open door for him to escape. They young redhead began to side step a couple of times to remove himself from his classmate’s dance area. He started to force himself toward the bar before the song changed, but he didn’t make it that far.
A young kid about his age was dancing with an orange soda and bumped into him. The sugary liquid landed on his black leather jacket. Before the kid could apologize, Nico’s corneas had become a bright glowing red. The kid stood in shock as the soda began to sizzle on his victim’s coat. Nico’s body temperature started to skyrocket, but almost came to a complete halt. His eyes widened and reverted back to their natural amber hue. It felt as if his heart skipped a beat when he noticed the black haired Tamaranean. Nico pushed the shocked kid to the side, put on his shades, and began to start dancing a bit.
She’s…quite nice, he thought to himself as he continued to move his body in his nervousness, but not taking his eyes off Blackfire.
I raise my flag and dye my clothes, it's a revolution I suppose
Blackfire found herself here at the night club almost every night. It's not like she had anywhere else to be, although she should take some time to get a place to live and what not. But that was for another time, she wanted to enjoy her freedom as much as possible. Before coming here she had found herself in a prison cell in the Andromeda galaxy. And now she wasn't, to be honest they weren't very smart. They gave her the opportunity to break out in the first place. Whatever she managed to find herself back on earth after that. She actually liked Earth, it was nice and there was so much to do here, so much fun to be had. And despite no knowing what to do with herself now that she was banished from her home planet she decided she'd make herself home here, whether her sister liked it or not.
Blackfire smoothly made her way through the crowd, she was dancing with the flow of the crowd and eventually bumped into a random young man.
"Oops, sorry."
She beamed, the other didn't mind and made his way out. After he left Blackfire held up his wallet. Well oops indeed, looks like the poor boy lost his wallet. Not that he would notice until he got home anyways. Blackfire opened the wallet and found a twenty, a ten, and a few singles.
"Hmm not bad, I can use the twenty to get something to eat. Now what to do with the singles?"
She looked over and noticed the bar, she could use the singles to grab a drink. She made her way towards the counter, slipping through the crowd with relative ease. In that moment she made eye contact with Cherufe, er well his sun glasses. Her bright purple eyes glanced over him for a brief moment and noticed his red colored hair. It was a color she loathed but also one she desired to have herself. However she thought it looked nice on him, he looked like he got quite the temper, a fiery personality. She gave him a small smile before turning away and leaning over to counter to the server.
"Got any black cherry soda? I have real money this time."
The server looked at the cash in her hand, they checked to see if it was real. Last time she was here she ripped the other off with fake money. However that wasn't her fault, the person she stole it from had counterfeit money. She wasn't involved and the man got into big trouble, it was fun pinning crimes on people that actually committed it. After a moment the server set a cold can of Black Cherry soda on the counter.
"Thanks~"
She beamed and she opened the can and took a swig from it. She really got addicted to the drink, it was really all she could drink these days. She wondered if the red haired guy was gonna stand there or make his way over to her. She liked it better when people came to her and he was quite interesting. Oh well, she'd have to see.
Cherufe’s heart skipped a beat again. It felt like his chest was engulfed his own black flames. The smile made him feel something he hadn’t felt in years. The estrange happiness that one felt when they wanted to share the same happiness with someone else. His cheeks turned a light shade of pink on his pale skin. This is what he was waiting for. Though at the same time, he felt fear. It was the fear of denial…rejection. He hated being enslaved to this feeling, but he had to remind himself to try. Trying to find someone that would accept him for who he truly was had been a struggle.
He walked up to the bar and sat down slowly to right of Blackfire. “I’ll have what she’s having and also hot tea. Any kind of tea, it doesn’t matter which,” the redhead spoke slowly while slightly turning toward the young lady next to him.
“Come here often? This side of town can be pretty dangerous. Maybe I can escort you around, possibly buy you dinner, and get to know you better? The name’s Cherufe,” he spoke slightly rushed.
It wasn’t often that he would approach anyone the way he did Blackfire. Cherufe figured that beating around the bush was pointless. Though, if things didn’t work out he figured he would try to at least obtain a friend. He didn’t have many friends or even associates for that matter. Most people he came across either crossed him the wrong way or feared his personality.
The server brought him a cold can of Black Cherry soda and a mug of tea. He shifted the can of soda toward Blackfire as a sort of offering. He then lifted up the tea and sniffed it. It had a scent of his favorite, peppermint. Though, it was a bit cool for his liking. Cherufe cupped his right hand around his mug and the heat from his hand started to cause the tea to bubble and the hot vapors to rise.
I raise my flag and dye my clothes, it's a revolution I suppose
So the read headed boy made his way over to her, he went over to her right and ordered a can of black cherry soda with some hot tea. Interesting, she didn't even think that this place sold tea of any kind. The more you know she supposes. He then turned to her and made the more forward attempt to ask her out that she had ever heard of in her entire life. She looked at him for a moment, wondering if he was serious or not. Then she smiled at him once again.
"Well dangerous is my middle name if you didn't know. I actually arrived here a few days ago, just looking to have a bit of fun until I can make some arrangements for my permanent stay here."
He did say something about dinner, she was looking to get some after this. Eating alone wasn't as fun as eating with someone else. And chatting could be fun too, she'd like to know this guy's story so after a moment of mulling it over she nodded.
"Sounds like fun, I'm Blackfire by the way. Nice to meet you, Cherufe."
She watched as the other grabbed his cup of what appeared to be peppermint tea. She grabbed the can of soda he offered her after she finished the one she bought. She watched as the luke warm tea the red head had suddenly began to boil and was now steaming. She raised a brow and looked up at him.
"Interesting power you got there, you're like your own personal heater huh?"
Blackfire, he thought to himself. The name was very close to another name he was familiar with. Looking back at Blackfire, she did resemble Starfire a bit, but there were obvious differences. He figured he would leave his thoughts on the similarities on the two to himself. For all he knew , they could be cousins or even sisters. Either way she was really attractive and he also liked her voice.
Cherufe took another sip of tea before, it clicked what Blackfire mentioned "personal heater". He was used to heating his tea in his hands at home that he didn't even give it much thought. He was glad that she accepted his offer and it brought a sort of relief. Everything was going well, so far. The atmosphere had changed around the club. The feeling kept getting even more exciting with each passing second. He quickly threw back the rest of his tea and gave a quick smirk. Standing up from seat, his tea he placed some cash and offered his hand to Blackfire. He was attempting to lure her to the dance floor for a few moments anyway.
"I guess you can say you're not the only one that's 'dangerous'. How about a quick dance and I take you out of here? There is an Italian diner close by and the night is still young. That's if you wouldn't mind," he said while blushing. The thought of dancing with a lovely lady was a bit unnerving, but he thought he would try and break out of his shell a little. Cherufe just wanted to take her away from here. Not just for some alone time with her, but to also try and not run into any of his classmates. It would just make things awkward if he were to run into his classmates. He truly wondered where she came from and what she was like. So far, he liked what he was seeing.
I raise my flag and dye my clothes, it's a revolution I suppose
She mused to herself as he talked about her not being the only one who was dangerous. She wasn't one for the dating lifestyle, however with literally too much time on her hands and nothing to do...might as well right? He then asked for a dance before they went off to this restaurant he knew of, Italian dinner? She wasn't sure what that meant but hey food is food, earthlings had lots of interesting cultures with foods and what not. It would totally worth investing in.
"A dance? Didn't peg you to be the type to dance, sure I wouldn't mind at all."
She took one of Cherufe's hands and slowly began to lead him into the crowd that was still on the dance floor. It wasn't disgustingly crowded that they had to shove people aside, as long as they went with the flow of the crowd navigating around it would be easy. Blackfire easily navigated from the group until they reached the middle of the dance floor, and the Tamaran faced him before swaying a bit to the music.
As Blackfire led him onto the dance floor, he began to reconsider his offer. He didn't care too much for dancing, especially in public. The only reason he offered was because he thought she may like it. Though as he started to move through the crowd, he realized it was a bit late to change his mind. Holding her hand made him blush and his body began to surpass that of a normal humans. If a human reached these temperatures, they would have dropped dead. Cherufe hoped that she wasn't able to feel his temperature rise too much or hurt her. He took a deep breath to calm himself down. His body temperature began to drop to normal levels, but that was until they made it onto the middle of the dance floor.
Cherufe watched as Blackfire began to sway as she faced him. It seemed like it was natural for her. He could obviously tell that she was used to this kind of thing. The redhead wasn't bad at dancing, but being around all these people just gave him an awkward feeling. He knew he couldn't just stand there like an imbecile. To ask someone to dance, then not dance yourself was out of the social norm. Then again, he didn't care for social norms anyway. The feeling he felt in his chest started to make him shuffle his feet and move along with beat of the music. While dancing, he realized that it was similar to martial arts, but didn't always require stern focus. You just had to let it flow.
"By the way, I'm really not the dancing type. Just watching you makes me wish I was. You're pretty good," attempted to compliment Blackfire while grooving along with the music.
I raise my flag and dye my clothes, it's a revolution I suppose
Blackfire took note about how the other's body temperature fluctuated back and forth. Of course being Tamaran this wouldn't really bother her but for the others...probably. Not that she cared about what happened to these people but anyone complaining about it being hot for no reason will be thrown out of a window. Now whether it was her hand or his that did it was another story. She smiled at him again as they danced, although she wouldn't say it aloud she did appreciate his compliment. She couldn't remember the last time anyone ever gave her a compliment.
"Thanks, you're not so bad yourself so give yourself some credit."
She paused when the song changed to something with a slower beat, that would probably change soon enough however.
"I noticed your ever changing body temperature, if you're worried about me, don't. As I can imagine you noticed I looked like a certain red haired titan....she's my younger sister."
She looks away and frowns. She didn't like to talk about family to other people. She quickly changed back her mood as quickly.
"Tamarans tend to be durable, from the harshest cold of sub zero to the sweltering heat of boiling point, we can endure it."
After a while she stopped dancing. And looked over to Cherufe.
"Hey let's get out of here, seems like more people are pouring in and music selection is lame."
Cherufe was glad that he didn’t cause her any harm. He was actually quite impressed by the Tamaranean physiology. Blackfire being Starfire’s sister made a lot of sense. The resemblance is almost uncanny. Just by looking at her expression when she mentioned her sister, brought him to think of his younger sister. The cult he grew up in favored his sister more than him. The failure of the cult’s leader marred him even though it wasn’t his fault or decision to become a medium for black magic. He figured that her mentioning a sibling brought up some negative emotions. It was completely understandable.
The song changed as he arched his back and straightened himself out. “Yeah, let’s get out of here. I’m feeling a bit hungry.”
Cherufe reached for Blackfire’s hand and attempted to maneuver his way through the crowd. Upon reaching the lobby and exiting the building, he sighed and looked toward Blackfire. “I can take you to the restaurant. It’s only a about half a block away,” he stated.
He began to lead the way toward the restaurant and hoped she stayed close. It had been a while since he had anyone this close to him that wasn’t trying to do him physical harm. It was like he was calm and collective, but then excited at the same time.
“Umm…about your sister, I understand. My people considered me an outcast because I wasn’t who they truly wanted me to be. They favored my sister more than me. Even though our parent’s treated us very similar, it seemed like I was still an abomination. It’s sad that the cultists outside of the region treat me better than the one’s known…,” he spoke while gritting his teeth. He eased up a bit and took another breathe. Cherufe had almost never had control of his emotions like this. Normally, he would let them flare out, but he wanted to get to know Blackfire a bit more than he wanted to get angry.
“Yeah, I’m sorry about that. Those days are…behind me. Anyway, we’re almost there.”
[ooc: we can skip ahead to the restaurant if you like]
I raise my flag and dye my clothes, it's a revolution I suppose
The Tamaran followed the red headed man out of the club and down the street to this restaurant. One the way there the other mention his life with his sibling. It seemed they had a similar upbringing. Outcast by their people in favor of their other sibling, seen as abominations by their own families. It was hard, and Blackfire was sure she did all the things she did because she wanted them to look at her, she tried to be best but she was still the worst. And in the end she just went 'screw it' and did what she wanted to when she wanted to. She decided they would never see her as more then the bad guy and so they wanted her to be the bad guy and she did. She played that role and it caused her to trade her sister for her people's safety. To them it was wrong, and she could the spite she had lift from her when she did that. To do the wrong things, it felt refreshing. She didn't feel the pressures to be something she could never hope to be. She would just be as she was. She looked over to Cherufe and ran a hand through his red hair.
"On my home planet my people are predominately orange skin with red hair and green eyes. But there are a few of us that are paled skinned, with dark hair and purple eyes like me. My people see people like me as mutants and bad omens."
They continued the walk in silence before she spoke up again.
"I was the heiress to throne and when I wad born with this...defect it made my people hate me. They called me things like evil, once my sister was born they snag a different tune. They praised her because she looked like them, she was not mutated like me. They demanded that she be the heir to the throne and so that right was stripped from me. From then on I tried to compete with her to show them that I was clearly better then her but it didn't matter, they would never accept me as their ruler. So that point I gave up and started to be the person they saw me as. Turned out I liked it more then I should've after doing some really messed up things, get space jailed a few times and here I am."
She felt like it was better if she left some details out here and there. She didn't think he needed to know anything specific about her past. Things she didn't want to bring up. How her sister banished her and that's why she's here. They arrived at the restaurant and went inside to take a seat.
"Sorry about that huge info dump, I saw my sister the other day and it wasn't on good terms let's just say. I'm trying to keep a low profile for a little while, the Titans know me well if they catch me doing anything wrong I can kiss Earth goodbye."
Blackfire picked up the menu and looked at it curiously.
"What are you having? I never had this...Italian before. All of this looks strange to me."
As Blackfire's hand ran through his hair, it felt as his heart skipped a beat. His body temperature instantly skyrocketed to the point where a small puddle bubbled up as he stepped through it. He couldn't help, but smile. His smile slowly vanished as Blackfire started to explain her background. Cherufe felt remorse as she went on about her story. All he did was nod his head without anything to say. They both had a lot going on in their past, but it was a new day. Though, he truly wanted to become a menace to society. Cherufe would see Jump City burn to the ground and he wasn't going to let anyone stop him, or so he thought. They made it to the restaurant and took a seat before Blackfire apologized.
"No need to apologize. There's nothing wrong with getting stuff off of your chest. Sometimes other's need to feel what you feel to truly understand who and what you are. If you're worried about the titans, then crush them," he stated.
Glancing at the menu, he quickly spotted what he wanted. "Hey waitress, can I get two of your spaghetti specials and two black cherry sodas!" he yelled across the restaurant. The waitress glanced at him with contempt before nodding her head in acknowledgement to his order.
He moved his shades from his face and put them on top of her head to reveal his passionate eyes. It wasn't like he was truly giving away his identity by removing them. Though, he would keep his eye out for people he recognized. It would have been bad if his peers happen to interrupt him for ditching them at the club. Making eye contact with Blackfire, he took a deep breath as the waitress brought their drinks.
"As far as looks are concerned, your sister doesn't come close in comparison...Anyhow...If you're concerned about the Teen Tragedies, just defeat them. Take down the Titans and be free of them. Then you could do as you please. That was my plan, anyway. I don't have much care for heroes in this world. They're always ruining all the fun. You can barely blink an eye before some hero in a cap comes rushing to quote unquote 'stop you'. Though, you will need some help. Taking them down is no small task, though. You don't have to kill them just break them enough to where they won't rise back up. Find away to break them down or expose them as the true villains."
He really didn't like the idea of the Titans. They really were in the way of his true purpose of total destruction. Though, taking them out was only a small part of his plan. He didn't have much care for the people of Jump. They would possibly be just casualties of war. Once he felled this city, he just moved onto the next. If he was able to handle the Titans, he was pretty sure that he could handle the Batman. Cherufe would have just suggested to Blackfire that she could always move to another big city, but what fun was there in running?
So they were going to have this spaghetti with her favorite drink, Blackfire looked at the menu and saw the picture of the spaghetti. She raised a brow how strange the food seemed, she then wondered about food from other places on earth. Hmm she debated flying out to other places to eat there as well. While they waited for their order Cherufe talked about taking out the Titans. She snickered when he called them tragedies it was true they were all tragedies, but they were her sister's tragedies.
On the topic of taking them out it was very difficult, it wasn't like she hadn't tried not once but twice. Her first plan nearly worked as well as the second one but they somehow find a way to defeat her. Their team work was second to none, she hadn't known a group to be as tactical as the Titans. She sighed and ran a hand through her hair.
"I've tried, that teamwork thing they do makes them inpossible to take out. I've already tried on two seperate in ccassions. I specially since there's only one of me and there's five of them. Fighting my sister is a handful enough, she's tamaran but she's also a chrysalis Tamaran. That means she's transformed into the highest form of Tamaran like myself. Combine that with some Kung fu expert, an adept empath, a man who is half machine, and a shapeshifter th y b come quite the handful."
She figured that giving the red headed man a little insight on how the Titans worked would help him understand that just the two of them couldn't dream of taking them out.
"Maybe if there was more people involved then I'd be more inclined. I still need to lay low, they'll be keeping an eye on me. Right now I just want to enjoy my new found freedom first. Then maybe we can talk taking out the Titans. "
The conversation was cut short when the waitress appeared with their food, she quickly left them to their business. Blackfire looked at the food with much curiousity. Quite the strange delicacy, but she wasn't totally inept. She picked up her fork, she looked at others as they ate their spaghetti. She easily mimicked their movements and picked up the spaghetti and took a bite of it. She hummed, not bad.
"So, like what are your powers specifically? Is it just heat in general or is it like fire manipulation?"
It interested him that she had once tried to best the Titans to no avail. Blackfire's words did bring in some things into prospective. Though, he was a disappointed and understanding that she wanted to lay low. Cherufe had no intentions of fighting the Titans alone. Though, at a time he did plan to take them out one by one. He definitely figured that idea was a bad one and had too many unknown factors to assess. The hard part had been trying to find a team. Most of his work consisted of assisting others that had no abilities to be of any help or interest in his. Well, it was between that and working alone a lot.
"Yes, I'm a pyrokentic or one that can manipulate fire. My powers are a combination of fire and heat abilities. I had most of my abilities since I can remember while others became more prominent as I aged. My powers were through an occult ritual, so technically it is black magic. I can melt things by making contact with it. It isn't always instantly. Some things take longer to melt than others. I can create flames and use existing flames as weapons. I do have capabilities of flight as well. Though, I'm still human. Take too much physical damage and I would need treatment," he started to then fill his mouth with the noodles layered in sauce.
"Just putting it out there, I had no intention of fighting the core team alone. Though, I have seen Robin up close and personal. The kid's skill's aren't half bad. The issue is finding others who are qualified enough to go up against them. So far, the ones I researched are either locked up, dead, or so inactive that not even my associates know how to find them. Well, looks like I have a long rode ahead of me. Anyhow, do you need a place to stay for awhile? I probably can 'convince' my landlord to let you use a vacant apartment for awhile."
Cherufe maybe was falling a bit too hard for the exiled princess. It would be out of character for him to help a normal person to offer them temporary housing. Good thing she wasn't some normal person. He offered based on his feelings. His heart jumped a bit when he offered. It was something he did feel a bit uncomfortable with. The redhead was a bit unsure if she would take it or not. He didn't have the audacity to invite her to his apartment. That would have made for a very awkward situation. He may have been bold, but that would have been on the borderline of just plain disrespectful to a beautiful woman. There wasn't going to be anyway he was going that far.

The roleplay takes place after the series end of the original Teen Titans animated show, but does not include the movie Trouble in Tokyo. Since then Robin has been on something of a recruiting spree, and many new young heroes have found themselves a home in Jump City as well as Titan Tower.
